It was a gorgeous day out. The sun was shining, but there were enough clouds and a nice breeze to make the heat bearable. The air smelled sweet, and there wasn't an overabundance of dirt. Ah....yes. It was a good day to be a trader, Upepeaji decided. The packs on her back held things she'd traded for a few days ago, things that she knew would be well-received when she returned to the colony in another day: soft furs from preybeasts, new trinkets and bits of precious cloth, sunstones to decorate dens...Yes, it had been a good haul. She'd even met a Saint along the way! Of course, the giant crimson and gold and black feline had looked at her funny for calling her a 'Saint', but...well, that was fine. The trip was obviously blessed by Mkodi if a Saint had crossed her path!
Looking at the sun high in the sky, Upepeaji grinned and continued forward, singing as she went.
"Oh, come by the hills to the land where fancy is free. Stand where the peaks meet the sky and the loughs meet the sea, Where rivers run clear, bracken is gold in the sun; Ah, the cares of tomorrow can wait till this day is done."

Kaless awoke with the sun shining through clouds on her back. it was a gorgeous day, good for lazing around in the sun by the water hole. she got up and walked around to stretch out her legs before her quick trip to the water hole. she wondered if she would meet anyone, well, anyone nice. she was a waterbuck, a prey animal. hunted. it was hard living as she was. alone. she needed t find somewhere, well, safer. it would be better, for when she got older, and weaker. she could be killed!
she arrived at the water hole. there were a few lovestruck klipspringers who ran off after grabbing a quick drink. she chuckled, she was yet to find any male waterbucks, though she never thought what it might be like to have a baby waterbuck. her thoughts wandered as she did, looking for some nice plants to munch on.
she slowly laid a pile of grasses and water plants on her claimed sun bathing spot, it was a perfect day indeed.
"ah. this is so nice. perfect sun, no hunters, and no rain"
she grinned at these thoughts and closed her eyes in the warm sun. she nibbled on the plants as she thought about a plan for what she would do today. maybe she would start trading? she was meeting more lions who didnt want to harm her now, she shook away her somewhat silly thought and continued to rest her eyes.

The scent of water reached her nose, and Upepe's already bright mood brightened even further. WATER! Oh could her trip get any better? A watering hole on this new route! She picked her pace up, passing some preybeasts (she'd no interest in them for now) as she moved into view of the water. She blinked when she saw a waterbuck, then smiled once again and piped up as she made her way to the water's edge. "Lovely day, isn't it little sister?" While more uncultured felines might consider a waterbuck food...those in the Baridi-a dhati knew better. ESPECIALLY the traders. To them, waterbucks were like little siblings, to be looked after as they helped out.

Kaless jumped in her mind, her eyes opened to reveal a feline drinking form the water hole. she had called her little sister, so obviously she meant no harm, or she would be dead or running right now.
"yes, it truly is"
she said with a light smile. she was warm now and decided to get up for another drink.
"what brings you here?"
she asked her because she had trading packs on, obviously from a pride of sorts. Kaless lied back down, now watching all around her. she was always worried, every day. How could she let her guard down! how foolish to think nothing would happen on a beautiful day. it was true prey cam out on nice days.
"did anyoe follow you here?"
she needed to ask, she wouldnt feel safe without doing so.
oh yes, my names Kaless'Jua, but you can call me Kaless."

Upepe happily drank from the watering hole, and was glad that the waterbuck didn't seem scared. At least, not really. "Just pausing on my way home. And no, I'm on my own. Wasn't a large trip I needed to make, so just myself was quite fine!" Her tail flicked about as she smiled brightly. "A pleasure to meet you Kaless! I am Upepeaji. Upepe for short!"

Kaless relieved the tension in her body. she was so glad Upepe had come by herself, as she had no idea what her her pride members might do to helpless Kaless.
"well, i hope you have safe travels for whenever you go back!"
Said Kaless with a smile. she didnt want Upepe to leave right away, but still, Kaless never felt safe around hunters of the sort. she was still woried, though she tried as hard as she could not to show it.

Upepe nodded, then giggled. "I'm only a day or so out. I do rather look forward to getting home. I love seeing everything out here but...well, a girl gets homesick." She took another drink, then looked to the waterbuck again. "So is this your home? Or do you hail from elsewhere?" She knew the female wasn't from the herd attached to the Baridi-a dhati. She'd recognize one of them.

"im really just wandering around. i have been trying to find somewhere im safe, but it can wait"
Kaless shrugged.she wasn't that much of a socialite, but it would definatly be nice to stay safe for the rest of her life.
"i have never been much of a socialite either, but now, im being forced to almost, everywhere you turn in Rouge lands there is a new animal"
it was fine, unless they were trying to eat her, and lions like to pair up, to take down an animal like her.

Aw...poor thing! "Well...I hope you find somewhere to your liking! And if you ever feel like living in a place where you need not worry about being hunted, and have protection...keep an ear out for the Baridi-a dhati. We rather value those like you, and we've a herd that helps us out with things, and we help them and protect them." A final drink of water, and she stood up fully. "Well...it was a pleasure meeting you, Kaless!" And with that, she started homeward once more. Perhaps, in a day or so, the colony might find themselves with a new addition to the herd! If not...well, it was nice meeting a waterbuck anyways!

"it was nice to meet you, and thanks"
she walked away with a nice thought in her head. A herd! she never thought about travelling with others with protection! it was a grat thought, and with that, she would be asleep, thinking about what Upepe had told her. she watched which way she went, and with that, they parted ways.
