Turning into a wriggler was uncomfortable—as well as shocking—as hell! Vremea needed the comfort of her books, only to realize— someone was stealing them!

Tierte didn't often leave her hive, but when Lynxmom wanted to go out, she had to come with her lusus. Not just because Lynxmom wanted her by her side at all times, but Tierte didn't really want to be in her hive alone. She could be attacked at any point, and she wanted her lusus as backup.

And tonight, Lynxmom wanted to get Tierte some new reading material, and brought her to some kind of bookstore for some reason. Tierte frowned at the thought, they didn't have any money to pay for books. But that never stopped her before.

Tierte browsed the various sections of books, clinging to her lusus's side as she walked, and stopped in front of the engineering and tactical books. The redblood child reached out, thinking of all those various mechanical parts she had fished out of trash cans. Maybe she could just... kind of... reach out and take it. She slid the heavy engineering book, The Engineering Design Process, underneath her striped sweater, covering the obvious bulge with her blanket.

Lynxmom looked over at the counter, ever vigilant for her precious troll. She never judged Tierte's selections when she stole things, since the large lusus often stole things herself.

Tierte's eyes were caught by a distinct book cover in the "Fiction" section, and quickly made her way to see the title. "Wherein a brownblood is stranded in the highblood hunting grounds in Four Fronds with nothing to defend himself but his clothing, a tattered windbreaker and the hatchet his lusus had given him as a present, this young lowblood finds himself completely alone -- and hunted. Challenged by his fear and despair, and plagued with the weight of a dreadful he's been keeping since his lusus's death, the brownblood must fight both his inner demons and the highbloods that want to kill him in order to survive. It will take all his know-how and determination, and more courage than he knew he possessed."

A survival guide for a lowblood being hunted! Perfect. Tierte was overjoyed to see a book like this, even if it was a fictional account of something very difficult. Highbloods were everywhere, and they were even worse in Four Fronds.
"Look!" she whispered to Lynxmom excitedly. "This will help in case I ever get stranded somewhere the highbloods want to hunt me." A very likely scenario with her psychotic moirail.

Lynxmom nodded approval, and Tierte made her way toward the exit of the building, slipping the second book under her sweater with the first one, ready to get out with her bookly spoils.

As mentally and physically exhausted Vremea may have been from the sudden change in appearance, she couldn't help but head over to her city's library— something calming was what she needed, especially in this situation. Her hair was still damp from the earlier water usage in her ablution trap, tied into two ponytails on her head with her old ribbons. It had taken her sometime to find her old, kid clothing, as she had left it somewhere in one of her boxes filled with her different clothes. She had sent a message to her boss after her wash, and she had received another one soon after, getting something of a break until she turned back.

Overjoyed yet at the same time dismayed by the news, she had told Yakmom— whom seemed happy that her charge was a child again. Vremea spent the whole night trying to get used to the smell and wash her. Although she had wanted to take Yakmom into the city for a day, she had decided to stay in her small shack, which worried her— but Yakmom assured her it was no problem. She told her to hurry off and bring some books for her to read to her aloud— something she hadn't done in a while. Vremea had smiled brightly at her and nodded, heading off into the desert that was more quiet than usual.

Now all she wanted now was to take a night to relax.

The night was quiet and calming, the two moons watching over Vremea as she walked through the sand with light footsteps. As a kid— meaning a real kid, not this version of one— she used to think they were brighter stars. Only when she saw a friend of hers lived in one of those did she realize that they were hives— not stars. She let a small, unnoticeable smile crack upon her face. She missed her ignorance.

Soon enough, she saw more and more hives in the distance. Vremea had reached the city! She only needed to walk around a bit to reach the library— she was more tired than usual, for some reason. Maybe she couldn't walk as much as she used to? She waved at the trolls she would pass by every early night she had to go to the library— some were surprised at how she looked like now. Sometimes she stopped and talked to them— they were lowbloods and acquaintances of hers after all, she didn't think they would harm her— but usually, she kept moving. She didn't want to keep Yakmom waiting.

Vremea opened the door to the library with just a bit more difficultly than usual, a small chime playing throughout the place as she saluted the new librarian who would take her place until there was a cure. She then walked to the rows of books awaiting her, her eyes starting to grow fonder as she kept walking through the rows, looking for something interesting to read.

Then she saw the redblood.

She had swiftly grabbed a book, pulled it under her sweater, and covered it with her blanket. As if nothing happened.

Vremea's jaw dropped.

WHAT?!?! She mentally screamed, and decided to hang back to watch and see if she were to take another book. She did... And did the same thing. Hiding it under her sweater and pulling the blanket over her. How... How horrible! The poor books, oh no, those poor books! She couldn't believe her eyes. This is a library! Couldn't she just borrow the books? As the girl made her way to the exit, Vremea walked past her lusus, straight up to her, and blocked her way to the door. "Excuse me!" She said in a low voice— "What are you doing with those books under your sweater?! I saw you put them under there, you can't fool me!" She frowned, her arms stretched out.

Now that she had a good look at the red blood, she could see why she tried to steal books. The girls hair was a rat's nest, literally— it looked like a rat could actually live in it, from how dirty and messy it was. It covered her eyes completely, making her slightly curious as to how they looked like. Her cloak was old and looked like it was repaired many times, and instead of shoes, she wore bandages on her small feet. Didn't she have anything to wear for her feet? Was she that poor...? Vremea pursed her lips, her expression going slightly softer. Maybe she never bothered to ask what this place was, so she never knew she could borrow books? It is possible. Maybe she thought this place was just filled with books of her choosing? Either way, she needed to stop her and teach her that stealing borrowable books was wrong.

Ugh, just when she thought she could have a peaceful night. Hopefully this doesn't bring much of a problem.
