Inari hurt just a little bit- but not in the way most would expect. She had recovered well, considering her injuries. Her shoulder had been truly bad, and her flank was no walk in the park either, but she had since gotten much better. What had hurt most was her pride. The lioness had done well concealing that, through the days, as well as burying the frustration that came along with it. Her performance that day had been something to scoff at- she could have done better as a cub.
And it was with these thoughts boiling in her brain as she healed that she returned. That frustration had always been hard for the lioness to handle: She would often times become sharp-tongued at someone for annoyances. But this time, the annoyance had been with herself, and it was now at a point where it combusted through her very soul, driving her forward with a new confidence. Yes, she would do better this time. There were no other options! She approached the area where rogues took their askoruns and searched for a pridemember… But decided to call instead. "I'm here for my challenge!" Her face was determined and her stance solid as she waited for the reaver she would fight today to step forward.

Iku-Turso, or Turisas as he was known to his friends and anyone else who was familiar with him, was having trouble with his temper. A recent encounter with an old childhood acquaintance had left him frustrated and trying very hard to pretend otherwise, and so rather than stalk around the pride fuming he had taken on some extra patrols.
Turisas went to answer the challenge that had been issued, grumbling to himself about females who didn't behave like they were supposed to. He had already been irritated about those before, and now he was being challenged by a female it would seem. Someone should really remind these uppity lionesses of their place in life. Later, he intended to do so for Nadja. For now, he would do so with this challenger.
"Then attack," he advised confidently. "Let's see what you can do, kitten."

"Things will be different this time," she muttered in a very low voice to herself as she targeted the black and red lion before her. "Very well," she said with extra ferocity- Inari didn't take too kindly to being called a kitten. Yes, she would make sure things were different this time. She coiled and moved to attack, charging straight in. Her frustration from last time was something she hoped to harness for her own benefit this time- her temper always had given the lioness some extra strength.
She charged forward and didn't even bother to feign one side or another like she often would- instead she gave a quick swipe at one of her challenger's legs, hoping to knock off his balance.

"'This time'?" Tursas repeated, having caught the lioness's muttered words. "You've already tried and failed? Stormlords, save me from wastes of time."
He was not impressed by her head-on attack. It was the mark of a fearless warrior to attack so, but everyone in the pride knew that it was also a very risky way for a smaller opponent to attack a larger one. The blow dealt at the end had better land exactly right, or else the attacker would have simply delivered themselves into the reach of a more powerful foe.
Tursas did stumble at the unadulterated force of Inari's blow to his legs, but at the same time she now had nowhere to go, and he could use that to his advantage. As he stumbled back he kept his weight on his hind paws and used his fore paws (and their claws) to reach toward his challenger in an attempt to snag her and drag her to the ground beneath him.

She didn't even respond to his words- though they did register. Register and piss her off. If that was to be the way things were... Yes, she would ensure that the Stormlords saved her from a waste of time. The lioness felt his claws sink in to her own front leg and pull her in closer to him, and while she did lower her body a little bit, she didn't go down. The lioness wanted quite badly to sink her fangs into his neck, but males had these pesky manes. She knew better- it was a risky move with little reward. Her fangs would only do her well if she could sink them in somewhere else.
She had come to realize the mistake she had made, however- she couldn't be this close to someone with more bulk than her. Speed was an advantage of her small size- and she had failed to use it thus far, but she was stuck- she needed to be freed. She went to sink her fangs into one of his front paws, hopefully allowing her to move freely once more.

Her strategy did not impress Turisas, but he allowed that her instincts weren't bad. Making herself heavy and refusing to be dragged to the ground was a good tactic for making his life more difficult.
This close he could not see her baring her fangs, but he could imagine that she wanted to bite him very much. As he had done countless times since his mane grew in, Tursas gave silent thanks for the protection afforded his throat by his mane.
The feeling of fangs sinking into his paw distracted him completely, tearing from him an agonized snarl as he released her with the unbitten paw and took a heavy swipe at her head. He fully intended to knock it off her shoulders. That bite hurt!

A small smile spread quickly and silently across her muzzle as she felt her fangs sink into his leg. She may have bitten down a bit harder than she meant, with all of the excitement, but she didn't really have anything more she could do about it now. She was freed from his grip, which was a plus, and so she released her own. Distance was in mind.
His paw was not.
She saw it coming at the very last second, but it was too late. She guarded herself as best she could, but it was more of an instinctual- Oh crap, look out! reaction than a planned move. Inari got her distance alright, but not quite the way she had hoped. The blow hit the side of her face- her cheek and ear, and left her hearing ringing. The rest of her body followed her head as she staggered sideways from the blow- she landed on her side, but she quickly scrambled to her paws. She was a little distance away, at least... Though her thoughts were intent on getting back into a fighting stance- staying down too long would seal her fate once more! She let out an instinctual growl, teeth gleaming, fur on end along her back as she rose.

Oh, thank the Stormlords the b***h had removed her teeth from his paw. It was, he knew, the height of foolishness to concern himself over it now, but he couldn't help checking to make sure she hadn't completely mangled the limb. He was a warrior and made considerable use of his paws and claws in that capacity.
With foolishly timed concern he meticulously examined his wounded paw, flexing his toes and manipulating the joints and claws to make sure everything was still in good working order.
His attention was only marginally on the lioness. He had felt the force of the blow he'd given her and didn't think she was going to be a danger to him in the immediate future, even if she hadn't been knocked out cold. He listened for a change in her growl, intensity or pitch or something else, that would warn him of an attack to come.

Inari was glad to see they had come to a pause- as she was rising to her feet her world was still whirling around her. She felt a little sick, her balance was off, and she really felt as though she might be clinging to the earth to stop it from throwing her off. She gave her head a slow shake and things started to steady. She still remembered where she was and what she was doing. And her determination to become a member of this pride. And her shame at her first loss- she had to win this.
She started to survey the situation- what had changed? Where did she need to block? He... He wasn't attacking. He was still in the same place, staring at his paw. Her opening. In her current state, if she could manage to end it quickly, she might stand a chance of winning before she collapsed from a need to rest. She knew that, at the conclusion regardless of the outcome, that would essentially be what she would do.
She wondered if he was even really watching her right now; she decided to try it... She slowly started to move towards behind him, trying to keep her growl the same intensity... But she knew it wouldn't be long before he figured her out. She went to strike his side as fast as she could muster under her condition, jumping and hoping to hit with her claws at least.

Turisas heard the change in her growl, even if she didn't mean for him to, but she was coming in from the side with his injured paw and he couldn't shift himself as quickly as he would have liked to have done.
She struck with full force and he stumbled, losing his footing and sprawling as she bowled him over. In an instant he realized that he was not going to win this fight. He had made too many mistakes.
He growled irritably at this realization, but then turned philosophical. This injury he'd earned would give him an excuse to see Nadja for some healing and then maybe some loving. With that in mind, he really just wanted this fight to be over with.
"I yield," he said, rolling to his feet. He automatically placed weight on the paw she'd bitten and was unbothered by it. He would have to remember to favor it or limp or something when he sought out Nadja. "Welcome to the Stormborn."

She was pleased with herself that her attack had landed, and in return for her staggering, she made him do the same. Well. Maybe not quite as hard as she had staggered, but still! That would show him. She was getting mentally ready for her next move, but his words quickly cooled her off.
She couldn't help but have the smallest smirk as she again added distance between the two of them- room for him to stand up, and for her to have her feet not entirely beneath her. She was still just a little dizzy from the blow to the head, so her feet were slightly sprawled under her to keep her from swaying, as she knew she would if they were in their normal positions.
But those words were the exact ones she had wanted to hear today- the last battle was simply an off day. Having been able to vent her frustrations at his words with the challenge (and frankly, they kind of got knocked out of her with his strong blow) she was able to be respectful. "Thank you," she said with a nod. "See you around, then." She continued forward towards the seas, leaving her rogue-lifestyle behind her forever. The life she truly desired lay ahead... Just on the other side of a nap.
