Dysis had little need to flap her wings as she flew through the sky, riding a blast of cold wind that shot her through the air at dizzying speeds. It was all she could do to stay in control and not let nature tumble her like a toy. As she adjusted her course she glanced over her shoulder at the source of the wind, a massive black thunderhead that was boiling across the sky quicker even than she was flying. Ominous rumbling reached her ears, and she put more effort into her speed; she was far away from her mountain home and didn't know this area, but had to find shelter quickly or else she'd spend the night cold and wet.
This mountain range didn't seem to have as many caves as her home. This high up she could be missing something but if she dropped down lower she would lose the advantage of the wind, meaning she would have to work harder to fly slower. She stared at the rock as it sped below her.
There! Dysis decided to take a chance and dove to explore the darkness she'd spotted below her; her risk had paid off, as she landed in front of the entrance to a large-mouthed cave. She tilted her head and cautiously smelled the air in case the cave already had an occupant, but all that came to her nose was the scent of cold rock and decayed leaves. Satisfied she padded inside, looking around.
She could see the back of the cave through the darkness, but it was sufficently deep enough her to weather out the storm in it. Pleased with her discovery, Dysis marched in towards the back and made herself a nest out of the dead leaves, settling down and waiting for the storm to hit.((Thought I'd leave it open since I didn't know if you wanted Enrique to find the cave before the rain or get drenched.))

Flying on any given day was just plain awesome. Flying in the middle of what seemed to be an end-of-the-world storm in an unfamiliar area with no safe spots? Not so awesome. Enrique had known that he should've started home hours ago, but the pre-storm updrafts had been too alluring. And, now he was having to fight every one of the powerful gusts tooth and nail just to stay aloft. Even worse, the rain was beginning to move in, making it nearly impossible to see where he was going.
Suddenly, there was a flash of lightning that illuminated everything in a whitish-glowing haze, the answering roar of thunder deafening the Modaeva to the point he could barely form a coherent thought. He might've forgotten to breathe there for a few moments. Looking around wildly, blinking through his temporary daze, he searched desperately for shelter in which to wait out this mammoth of a natural disaster.
Searching. Hoping. Needin- There! Without a second thought, Enrique dove for the gaping mouth of the cave. Realizing his speed would be too much, he pulled up sharply and flared his wings to slow himself down as he all but skidded into the darkness of his new shelter. As such, he ended his less-than-graceful landing a few scant inches from the face of a female Modaeva. A pretty female Modaeva. So, there he stood, more than a little thundershocked, dripping water on the female until he found his tongue again. "Uh hi?"

To say that Dysis was surprised by the sudden arrival of a male Davea in her shelter would have been an understatement. One moment she was sitting there, drowsing and cozy in her pile of leaves while she listened to the storm battering away outside. The next moment there was a soaking wet male so close to her that she'd of had to go cross-eyed to look at him.
Him standing might have been better on her eyes, but unfortunately it came with the price of freezing rain water now dripping on top of her...
All in all Dysis thought she ought to be commended for her expression barely twitching in surprise, for not yelping in startlement, and that the male should consider himself very lucky that all he got by way of admonition was, "You're getting me wet," in a bland voice. Narcissus would have defintely snapped at the male, but all she did was give him a mildly reproving look.

Enrique, for his part, had been somewhere between moritifyingly embarrassed and inexplicably relieved before the female 'daeva had spoken. 'Wow, her voice is nice, a little like the leaves rustling...', he thought, slightly mesmerized by how her eyes had shone in a lightning flash - bright red, like a flame. And then, he realized what exact she had said, and felt incredibly cowed.
"Oh, yeah, sorry about that!", he managed, flinching back and trying to retreat with some of his dignity. Unfortunately, he'd created quite the trail of water from his crash-landing, a puddle he now stepped back into and very nearly lost his balance. Then, his brain had decided in needed to take a vacation. The Modaeva's hindlegs slipped out from under him and he landed heavily on his forepaws and chest - cracking his chin on the cave floor in the process. When the whole process was finished, the 'daeva was sprawled out on his stomach a few inches from where the female lay, drenched, dazed, and miserable.
At that point, Enrique gave up on trying to look stoic and gave a little gruff exhale that tried to tapper off into a whine. He closed his eyes and refused to move, waiting for the female to kick him back out into the rain because he failed so miserably at sharing her species. It was most definitely his mother's Modiphim-ness within him that made him such a clutz. Nevermind that she was one of the most graceful foxes he had ever met - being half 'phim made him a whim and that was that!

Dysis' eyes widdened a little throughout the entire performance, looking that bored look they usually held and instead pinning the male with intense observation.
His behavior was a bit odd, flustered. She couldn't see why, but then again she'd been told that she had a distinct lack of reaction and repressed things more than was good for her. Perhaps it was true, but Dysis fancied there was a difference between surprised reactions and flailing around like a kit suddenly shoved in an adult body.
She eyed the bundle of soaked fur, black limbs and starry wings sprawled out in front of her little nest, wondering what to do now. He didn't seem like a threat, but then there were a lot of deadly creatures out there that didn't look at all intimidating until you were lying in the dirt and choking on your last breath, wondering what had just happened. Should she react defensively now, gain the upper hand while the male was still clearly, literally and metaphorically, off balance?
Finally, as the silence stretched between them, Dysis decided not to. She already had the upper hand and was sure she could win if it came down to a fight, so why move from her comfy and (mostly) dry nest to get wet and tired and possibly injured?
Her wings rustled like the leaves upon which she lay as they shifted on her back. "Are you okay," she asked, feeling she should probably say something.

(I'm a terrible RP partner! i'msorryi'msorryi'msorry!)
Enrique felt the biggest doof to ever doof since the beginning of doofing. The silence between the two 'daevas stretched on and on, the tension in the cave going from surprised to just plain awkward. Had his breathing always been this loud? His heart sounded like the raging storm incased within his chest, the blood rushing through his ears almost deafening him.
So accustom had the male become to the silence, that when the female shifted her position and spoke once more, Enrique had to nearly bite his tongue so as to avoid yelping in fear. Instead, he shakily rose to a sitting position, gazing as levelly as he could at the female laying on her cozy bed of leaves. "Yeah, I'm fine.", he said, flaring his dripping wings a little as if to prove his point before sheepishly adding "Thanks, uh, for asking, though." Darn, his mom has totally drilled that into him, hadn't she!? Lighting crackled outside, a gust of wind flooding through the mouth of the cave and causing him to shiver a little. He took a smidgen of pride in noting his bulk had blocked the wind from the female. Well, at least he could do something right by keeping her out of the wind's way!

((lol It's fine! I've got some roleplays that have only gone a couple pages are are over two years old ;-; Long as I get a reply about once a month to keep the roleplay from getting landed in the closed thread, I don't mind that it's moving slow. Life tends to eat people.))
If Dysis had been the type to roll her eyes, she probably would have done so.
Maybe she should have worded that differently. Of course she knew he wasn’t seriously hurt, she was quite familiar with Daeva physiology and would have been able to tell. It was just a socially accepted conventional norm to ask if one was alright after an accident. Now as she understood it, if the person responded with a positive answer, i.e., “I’m fine,” the correct procedure would then be to inquire of the questioner whether they happened to be unhurt as well.
This male seemed to be woefully ignorant of common social customs. That or he was deliberately being rude, which while not an excuse was something he understood; rudeness was (for the most part) a social custom common to the Daeva species as a whole.
Given how he shivered just from a bit of lightning, Dysis was betting on ignorance.
“It’s only lightning, there’s no need to be afraid of it,” she said dryly, proving her knowledge of Daeva customs as well as social customs.
((XD Poor Enrique. Blocking the wind backfired, she thinks your shiver was from fear instead of cold.))
