She hadn't thrown herself headfirst into the fight, this time. For once Vanadis had actually stood back, considered the pros and cons and how best to approach attacking the youma; she was quite proud of herself for this, really. It was just too bad that it hadn't worked - she was still getting beaten by the medium-sized, shrubbery-looking youma.

Well, that was to say - she'd managed to amass quite a large amount of smaller bruises and cuts from its branches, but no major injuries so far. Which was a good thing, really, because the bruise around her eye was only still fading and she really didn't want another one to match. Or something worse. Definitely didn't want something worse.

And it seemed kind of stupid to get beat by a youma, of all things. Like... weren't they supposed to be the easier opponents? Maybe she hadn't gotten as good as she'd thought she had; maybe she was still a pretty crap senshi, but at least she was trying!

Sailor Flora was not patrolling tonight.

Eve Summers was, however, walking home after helping to close up Cafe Aestatem for the night; her uncle was away for the week, so she was sort of in charge. Walking alone in the dark streets of Destiny City, reminded her of when she used to patrol, and made her feel wary. Though she acknowledged that she would henshin up if there was an emergency, a part of her was reluctant to. It wasn't that she was terrified of getting hurt, since she discovered that they healed up relatively quickly. It was just that the responsibility was tiring, like a dark cloud hanging over her. And having adjusted back to normal life had felt so amazing that she didn't exactly want to go back to equalizing both lives again.

Unfortunately, it wasn't her lucky night.

She could see two figures fighting from a distance, and tensed immediately. Part of her wanted to run away, and that would be alright because she appeared as a civilian. The other part of her made her reach into her pocket, fingers grazing the henshin pen kept there. It seemed however, upon observing the fight, that it was a plant youma. Ugh, she didn't like plant youmas! But the Senshi who was fighting didn't seem to either; she was pretty much getting her butt kicked by it.

And Eve couldn't very well run away from someone who needed help. With a sigh, she forced her hand deeper into her pocket and grasped the henshin pen as she ran into an alley.

Emerging as Eternal Sailor Flora felt strange, even as she had donned the outfit every week to head into space. Perhaps it was the knowledge of an impending fight that made her feel this way. Gloved hands clenched, as she ran forward, mind whirling as she dredged up knowledge she could remember from her experience in fighting youmas.

1. They were not bright. Quite easily distracted too. "Hey, weed monster! You're a disgrace to Mother Nature!"

The wave of relief she felt when she heard the voice of the interloper was palpable. As the shrubbery youma turned its face (or what she'd shakily estimated to be its face) towards the other senshi, Vanadis took advantage of its distraction to get in a good kick. When the thing shuffled its branches, looking as pissed as a shrubbery could get, she gave a slight whoop of triumph before legging it over to the blonde senshi. They'd probably do better if they stood united and all that, right?

"T-thanks a bunch for the, um, timely intervention!" The smile she threw at the blonde was tired, but genuine. "How do you want to go about this?" A quick scan with her eyes of the other senshi had revealed that she was an Eternal, i.e. significantly more experienced and powerful than Vanadis herself was. Which probably meant that the blonde senshi would have a better idea of how to defeat this thing than the red-head had. She hadn't encountered a plant youma before, but the one they were facing was, while hardy and quite durable, also quite slow, as evidenced by the fact that the lumbering plant hadn't yet reached the two senshi. Quite lucky, that, because it gave them a few seconds to strategize.

Flora was extremely tempted to wail that she didn't like plant youmas; she had been lucky that she had been with Alcyone the last time she ran into one, and combined their powers to take it down. After all, magic pollen + plant youma = difficult fight. Also, the plant youma that tried to attack her in hospital? Ugh!

...But it wouldn't do to deflate the other senshi's confidence further, judging from the current circumstances. And two of them could take it down together! Yeah!

"Okay well, first things first, what are your powers?" It was a question Flora liked asking. After all, since magic was on their side, it was only wise for them to use it to their advantage! Of course, Flora wasn't exactly very sure what her Eternal power was; never used it, never tried. "I can direct a pollen cloud. Mostly for distraction, but it also causes breathing problems." Pause. "I'm not even sure this thing can breathe."

Fingers crossed for something that could work together with the power of spring fever. Flora thought, returning Vanadis' smile with one of her own. If not, maybe she could try out her new power, whatever it was.
