Brows furrowed together as blue eyes scanned the ground as the second year Griffindor walked about the courtyard outside Hogwarts. It was a bright Saturday afternoon, perfect time to be outside in the fresh chilling air of the new year. Absently touching her bangs she had permanently colored the rush of wind hear her head alerted her to Spook's flight as the owl moved ahead before circling back to her companion Naomi behind her then ahead again. The young pair had been searching the grounds for new flowers Naomi could add to her collection. The plants covered her bedpost as well as extra's or more precious plants had been dried and pressed into the book she carried against her chest with both arms.
Her Alder wand was clutched tightly in her right hand, her black hair lifting with another slight pass of her owl. She was aware of other students playing about near the lake and had no interest at the time being for getting involved in such crazy things. Breaking her concentration as Spook hooted twice circling around a strange boy she stumbled a little turning her head to act as if she hadn't noticed him. She had to find the flower before the end of the day.
Hooting again Spook circled around a couple of students before returning to Naomi and settling on the young girls outstretched arm. Pulling her arm close in a kissing motion Spook nibbled playfully on a strand of hair before alighting once more in search of the precious flower.

Attor sighed he could not find his best friend Tynan he had set out to look for Clover, but he wasn't able to find her either. Even the first year Rory was no where to be found it seemed Attor was to roam around by himself today. His home work was already done so there was really nothing for him to do. Perhaps he should escape to the grounds and find a place to sketch. He still didn't like people knowing he was an artist. His father had viewed it as soft and unfitting a real man, so Attor hid it even though most would not care.
Packing a bag with his sketch book and pencil he threw it over his shoulder before reaching out a hand for his pet snake Amduat to slither up his arm. The snake did so without question tucking himself under Attor's tie trying to find a nice warm spot.
Attor made his was through the school avoiding those he didn't care for and generally ignoring everyone else. He was not really into socializing right now unless the person might have an influential presence of some sort. Which in his mind most did not that he was running into. Once he had made it out side the boy took a deep breath as he made to avoid one of the boys who was constantly trying to figure out how Attor had gotten his scars. It was a first year Slytherin that was sure something awesome had happened to Attor to get him the scars on his face and hands. He ignored the boy as Amduat hissed as the boy got to close. The snake was still very skittish around others.
Attor eyed the owl that seemed to be flying about not that this wasn't a norm but having such a small snake it made him nervous. It had happened before that a small snake was snatched by a not so well trained owl. He was not about to loose another friend. It got a little to close and he swatted his hand at it not in a mean way just a protective once before of Amduat.

Circling Attor once before he swatted at her, Spook shifted course to look off in another direction. She hadn't been offended by the shooing nature, Naomi's mother did it every time she brought a letter back and forth. Naomi blinked as she watched the boys reaction and shrugged it off turning back to the more prominent task at hand, finding the elusive flower. Huffing indignantly she was starting to wonder if it would have been better to enlist the help of someone more skilled in herbology than herself. Then again she would probably get scolded for not doing the rest of her potions homework. Oh she hated that class with a passion.
A screech pulled Naomi's attention off to the side back to where the boy had been as Spook circled a small patch of color. That must be the items she was looking for! Smiling Naomi hurried forward pulling on a soft thick pair of gloves as she prepared to harvest the flowers. Stopping dead short of a foot, no these weren't the right ones. They were too purple! Unaware of the proximity to Attor Naomi pulled off her gloves and re-aranged her book so she wasn't going to drop it by accident.

Attor stared down at the girl who had dived right in front of him. It spooked him a bit as he stopped on a dime trying not to trip over her. "Bloody hell girl I might have fallen on you." Attor said taking a step back and straitening himself. He eyed the flower she had picked and couldn't help but put his hands on his hips knowing that assignment was due tomorrow. "Don't trip people just because you waited last minute to do your potions homework." Attor crossed his arms with a huff but couldn't help laughing a bit. This whole thing had managed to amuse him somehow.
Amduat the little snake peered around Attor's tie and hissed slightly at Naomi. "Hush hush Amduat....I really need to socialize you..." Attor said petting the snake on the head to calm it.

The rough sound reached Naomi's ears forcing the girl to jump in the air and spin to face the boy who was speaking. She hadn't been aware of his presence until he had vocalized it turning to face him in a slightly flustered manner. Her precious book falling to the ground as she took in a deep breath, how did he know she hadn't done her potions homework!? "Sorry. I didn't mean to attempt to trip you, I was just." Her eyes moved over the boy to the flower in her hand, tilting her head abit in confusion. When had she picked it. Shrugging anyways she moved her eyes back up to Attor attempting to hide the flower in her vest a blush surfacing on her face.
Spook settled on a branch in a tree off to the right with a soft hoot fluffing her feathers before setting about to preen herself. "H-how did you know I hadn't completed my potions homework?" Flustered she bent down to pick up her book opening it to check and make sure the pressed flowers were unharmed. Thankfully she couldn't find any that had been damaged, upon righting herself Minya's eyes fell on the tiny snake head as it poked its way into view. "Snakes are such strange creatures." She found herself staring at the small animal bending forward slightly to get a better view. Clutching her book tightly against her chest once again.

The Slytherin looked down at her with a slight amusement she was probably lucky it had been Attor. Some of the other Slytherin's may not have been so nice about this. Attor really felt no need to react badly to this, besides you never knew who might be a power in business one day no need to make enemies with everyone.
"Isn't it obvious...I mean you about tripped me to pick the imp flower that you need for the potion work that's due tomorrow. I did mine the night it was assigned...I get accused of being a Ravenclaw a lot...I remind them that my grades aren't as good." Attor said with a small laugh.
"I've never thought so ,but I've always had snakes....though not one this small and with the cats and owls about it makes me really nervous. I'm used to having snakes big enough to eat cats not be eaten by them. But he is just scared not all snakes are trained to be around lots of people he is attached to me and my friend Clover but he still doesn't seem to like others..." Attor extended his hand to shake Naomi's. "My name is Martin but my friends call me Attor."

Without pulling herself up into a proper standing position Naomi remained so her head was level with the snake, her blue eyes moved up to look at Attor as he spoke. "Imp flower." The strange flustered blush returned to her face as she pulled herself strait and took a step back. Bringing out the flower she had recently picked from under her vest. "You mean this little thing? My potions homework?" Luck must have been on her side today if she was slightly ahead on her procrastinated homework without realizing it. Ontop of having almost tripped someone yet not quite tripping them. If she had been landed on she was sure of the pain that would follow.
It wasn't obvious to her, Naomi loved the beauty of the flowers, but she didn't care what their names were. Or what properties they held. She giggled when he mentioned being compared to a Ravenclaw and smiled. "Oh it's ok he probably doesn't like me because I have Spook's sent all over me today." Motioning to her almost white owl Naomi paused. "I don't think shes to happy with me, I accidentally cast a charm spell and it went wrong. Now she has the colors of the sunrise on her feathers. I tell her its pretty but shes... I'm sorry I shouldn't carry on like this. You have more important things to do don't you."
A slight amount of loneliness crept across her features for a brief moment before she corrected herself and smiled as a hand was extended out to her. Taking the offered hand firmly yet softly. "It's nice to meet you Martin, I'm Naomi." She figured since they were introducing themselves she might as well consider him a friend, and if his friends called him Attor. So would she. "I think Attor suits you so I'm going to call you that ok?"
Twirling the purple flower in her fingers Naomi let Attor's hand go. She didn't want to be impolite by holding on for too long. " Well I guess it can't hurt to be slightly ahead of an assignment I haven't even started yet."

The snake hissed a bit more before retreating behind Attor's Slytherin tie. Attor did a have face palm realizing the girl didn't even know she needed the flower for the assignment. "Yes that's the imp flower you need it to make the fire potion. You haven't even looked at it and its due tomorrow. That's just reckless." Attor said in an almost mocking voice.
"Yeah that could be it, I don't know I'm just not used to having such a small snake. Your owl was making me nervous earlier, I mean its not unheard of for the owls to try to eat the smaller familiars after all. and no you're fine....unlike you my homework is done so I have nothing to do." Well Attor wasn't perfect though he didn't hate other houses like he used to. He still couldn't help but feel better then others sometimes.
"Yes its fine I really only insist on Martin for people I don't like." Attor said with a nod. He really only liked friends to call him that name. But he supposed he could consider this girl one. She was kinda cute after all.
"Tell you what Naomi lets do something unheard of, and have a Slytherin help someone with their potions assignment. It's not like I have anything else to do. And from the looks of things you need help if you're gonna get it done on time. Potion has to sit over night you know." Attor said placing his hands on his hips and looking a little full of himself. It felt good actually to be in the position to aid someone when he had been the one needing help the whole first part of the school year. What with not knowing if he would have someplace to go for the summer and all.

Naomi wasn't offended when the snake retreated. She was sure it would have been a relief on Attor as well with the snake out of Spooks gaze. As much as she wanted to assure the Slytherin boy that her owl wasn't going to harm the small snake, something in the back of her mind continued to ask. 'But how do you know?' So she didn't bother with the response. "I'm sorry she made you so nervous before I was actually getting her help to find a special flower. Well... a flower different from this one."
Brushing a lock of hair behind her ear with a smile. She felt a little prideful at the mention that it was ok to call him Attor, at least she wasn't hated by him so that was always a good step. Shifting to her other foot Naomi pushed the purple flower back under her sweater. "Well then Attor it is." Shifting the books in her arms around nervously she glanced towards spook in the brief pause between Attor's words.
"You would help me with my homework?" Her face took on a perplexed and awed gaze as she blinked up towards Attor. Shifting the books once again Naomi wondered if the potions book had suddenly taken on more weight. She was more conscious of where it sat in her book pile now, than she had been previously. "I would appreciate the help a lot. Do you think we could still brew it out here? I really don't want to miss the wonderful weather we have right now." Naomi hadn't been aware the potion was to sit over night and was secretly very thankful for Attor catching her as he did. If he hadn't she might have been the only one to not complete her potions assignment.
"I'm not really good with potions you see, so I- I usually procrastinate getting it done." Now she was sure the potions book was getting heavier. "I have all my other homework done though."
Turning to Spook, Naomi promptly asked for her to bring the cauldron down for them to begin working and the near white owl quickly departed.

"It's ok it's not just your Spook after that makes me nervous." Attor said watching another owl fly by over head. "You like herbology then? Or just pretty flowers?" Attor asked curiously he always liked to know what classes other students liked.
Attor couldn't help but notice her hair, it was different, not in a bad way though. Had she cast a spell on her own hair as well, he wondered looking at Spook's colors. He figured it would be rude to ask though.
"Yes that's what I said wasn't it. And a I never go back on my word." Attor looked around it was odd to think of making a potion outside, but he didn't see anything wrong with it either. "I don't see why not I tire of the inside often myself."
"DADA is my favorite but potions comes in second. There are so many things one can accomplish with potion. And they just might save your life in a worse case scenario. But it isn't an easy course by any means." Attor said with a nod. "Now open up your potions book to the fire potion I don't really have it memorize, but I know we need to collect a few more things."

"Oh no I wouldn't assume you meant just Spook-" Pausing as she followed his gaze up she frowned a little. It was another owl flying over head. Must be painful to always be nervous around owls. They were so common place here dropping things off and picking things up swooping where they wanted. A question of herbology brought her gaze back down to level. "I love Herbology, but not as much as Charms. I seem to be really good at charms." Standing up a little taller as she spoke Naomi giggled.
Her smile was bright as she glanced around the wide space outside the castle, before attempting to pull out her potions book from the mess. The result went as it always did, toppled books and scrolls tumbled to the ground. With a grunting moan Naomi shifted to regather them, blushing nervously. Until now she was sure she was seeming pretty cool! With this new development though, she wasn't sure if she was going to get laughed at or not.
Spook screeched as she too emerged in the scene with the cauldron. Nearing the ground to place it gently down, the near white owl shifted and flapped a few more times before settling down as if it were her perch. Once the books had been recollected and the potions opened to the right page, Naomi brushed her fingers over the books surface until she found some of the other ingredients needed for the potion.
"Valarian Sprigs... those are easy and over there." Naomi pointed off to the side without looking. "Flubberworm Mucus and Lavander... Oh here we need horned worms too." Tapping the page as her eyes shot towards the cauldron a smile reappeared on her face. Spook had not removed the ingredients she had already gotten in class which meant they really only needed to find Lavander.

"You're good at charms? I'm decent, but not my best subject." Attor said watching the girl before him curiously. She was interesting to him some how.
Attor didn't laugh he simply moved to help her pick up the books. She seemed to be a rather nervous or clumsy type but that didn't bother him in the least. It rather amused him.
Attor peered into the cauldron and noticed most everything was there but the lavender. "There is lavender growing down near the green house. That's where I got mine if you want to walk there with me. I'm sure Spook can guard the rest while we're gone." Attor said moving towards the direction of the green houses.
Naomi was suprised to find Attor wasn't laughing at her. Most of the other students made jokes about her unballanced nature. She couldn't help but feel a little awed by it. "Charm's is my best subject."
She watched as he glanced into her cauldron and nodded plesantly in agreement to finding the lavander. The green house was far and yet not to far away that it would be an awkward or uncomfortable walk. "You know that's a good idea. If that's alright with you?" Naomi asked as she turned back towards her owl. Spook didn't seem to physically aknowledge Naomi as she spoke though Naomi herself was more aware or more confident that Spook would follow instructions.
Leaving her things gaurded by her owl Naomi started a slow walk, checking back nerviously to see if Attor would follow. "You know, Lavander is really great for stress and headaches." She didn't want the walk to be uncomfortable, so simply starting a conversation is what she felt the best way to keep things light.
"Defense against the dark arts is mine followed by potions, Im very much a Slytherin in that respect." Attor said with a laugh placing his hands in his cloak pockets.
Attor eyed Spook with a tilted head hoping she would indeed guard everything he would hate to have to find all the stuff before tonight. Not that he minded helping Naomi, but...it might be nice if they got to talk about other things today too.
Attor followed he had a way of walking that projected authority. Something he had been taught in the wizarding achievers guilds. "Yes I know." Attor said with a smile. "It's excellent in tea I think. Have you ever tried it in a tea?"

Satisfied she wasn't walking alone, though slightly intimidated by the way Attor walked Naomi smiled. "Complete opposites." She teased lightly as she continued to walk leasurly beside Attor.
"No I didn't know it could be used in tea. I know I've used peppermint and mango's. Licorice and other amazing things. Sure is neat to learn new things like this! You sure you aren't a Herbologist at heart?"
Brushing her colored locks back behind her ears as the wind seemed to pick up slightly, Naomi Started searching the ground as quickly as she could in search of the lavender flowers. "They aren't different color's at hogwarts than they are in the muggle world are they? Lavender I mean." She felt stupid asking the question but a few things had been different when coming to hogwarts.
"Or just compliments of each other. The houses in hogwarts should really work together more often I think." Attor said as they walked along.
"I think herbology and potions sometimes goes hand in hand. Though this time it was a simple case of a love of tea and a stressful day that needed to end with a pleasant cup of home brew." Attor said with a small laugh.
"No they are not a different color. Though you may run into one of a different color that looks like lavender but do not be mistaken it is something much different though I can't remember its name." Though Attor seemed to make a face at the muggle world comment. After all he was raised as a pureblood. As far as he was concerned the entire world was the same the muggles were just to stupid to see the truth.

"I guess working together works most of the time. However Hogwarts almost seems to promote competition in the houses. what with the house cup and Quidditch and all." Reaching the end of their walk and the close proximity to the green house Naomi's eyes scanned the ground.
She was used to having Spook help her though the searches. As the sunset colored owl was a great compliment in situations like this. Fearing how pathetically silly she must look, Naomi straitened her figure bitting gently on her lower lip. Were they just on the wrong side of the greenhouse? She couldn't see a single flower anywhere
"They beleive it pushes the students to try harder at things. Which is true but yes it all so promotes a hostile situation between the houses for the most part. But there is no changing a tradition people dont want change." Attor sometimes spoke out of his age and really its how he had been raised.
Attor smiled and continued to walk a bit. He had said near the green houses. He kept walking towards the forest line. "Its just a bit father sorry I should have been more specific. Don't worry so much. I'm sorry if Im making you uncomfortable in some way. I'm afraid I was trained to act a certain way, specially when I first meet people."
Naomi blinked towards Attor as he mentioned a more specific form of direction. Smiling at him as she followed eagerly along. "You don't make me uncomfortable. A-am I making you uncomfortable." Feeling slightly insecure Naomi twisted a strand of hair as she returned to her search.
His previous comments about change had gone strait over her head. She was much to immature to be thinking anything that required depth. Her hair her appearance and her friends where her top concern, always.
Then it was there, right in front of her. Bright and fragrant. "There!" Naomi giggled turning to Attor and giggling, pointing at the object before rushing off to gather some up. Pausing before her hands could touch the delecat petals. "I forgot how much I'm supposed to use. I don't like picking more than I need.
" A little...but I dont think thats your fault." Attor said with a smile this was the first time he had enjoyed someone's company like this in awhile. "I feel like I'm stiff or old or something." Attor said with a laugh.
"I hope this...isn't some how out of place, but your hair is pretty...did you charm it some how? Or is it dyed?" Attor asked curiously looking over the different colors.
"Two springs will give us extra in case of a mistake. Or we can use the left over in tea." Attor said with another laugh she was so full of energy it was making Attor's horrible summer vanish from his mind. He was starting to be reminded that he was still a kid.

So many mixed emotions flooded through Naomi as she turned her head away from the lavander to look into Attor's face. She felt pained and guilty for causing discomfort to Attor and yet, his comments about her hair made her blush uncontrollably. No one had noticed her hair before, not even her closest friends. Not that she knew them last year but still!
"I charmed it, just before coming to school this year. I-I did the same to Spook. I think she's mad at me for it though. Still hasn't quite forgiven me." The blush deepened slightly as she spoke.
When the subject seemed to emediatly change back to the flowers Naomi was hesitant to return to the required homework. She was fusterated she had procrastinated to finish, yet somehow pleased at the same time. It gave her an excuse to meet Attor!
Nodding she bent over and plucked up the two sprigs and turned back to Attor. "Tea is always good. I like milk and sugar with mine though. What about you?"
Attor smiled as she blushed, so now he wasn't the only one feeling uncomfortable. Attor played with his own hair abit wondering what it would look like in a different color. He had planned to grow it longer at the very least.
"Very cool is it a permanent charm or will it wear off?" Attor asked he wasn't very good at charms after all so he didnt know.
While she picked the plant Attor blinked a bit, he wasn't normaly so open like this when he first met people. He shifted his bag on his back remembering he had his art supplies in there.
"Just honey a tea with the right herbs needs nothing more if you ask me. Plus sugar can ruin the taste of some teas. Not all like you earl grey is fine with sugar but a more exotic tea needs sugar....I do love my teas like a proper English boy should." Attor laughed again.
Slipping the sprigs into her sweater with the other plants she had collected Naomi turned back to Attor still blushing. "It's a permanent thing." Touching her hair nerviously to ensure it lay just right she smiled. "Besides I like it like this!"
She watched him shift before glancing back in the direction of her owl and supplies. "Spook's is permanent as well. Silly charms, they can be tricky. Hard to remove as well." Bitting her lower lip again Naomi turned and started off back in the direction they had first come from.
"I agree about the tea, some don't need it some do. I've never tried honey in it before. I guess if we have extra lavander I could bother you to make some and I'll try it with honey."
