Description of character attributes

Name: Quite simply, your characters name. each race has a format to which the vast majority of members have their names fit into.

Online Handle: This is the name your character has reserved for themselves in online interactions, specifically it is their Palshouter handle, which is the primary chat client used by characters in this session.

Species: What species your character is. This determines name format, blood, eye, hair, and skin color ranges, as well as where you start.

Astrological Sign: This is the character's astrological sign. Determines several things about your character, such as your characters Consort species, and a few things tied to your race.

Gender: Whether you are male or female. Quite simple. Not much else to say here.

Blood Color: The color of your characters blood. Mostly for aesthetic purposes. Some species have different traits based on their blood color.

Hair Color: The color of your hair. Mostly for aesthetic purposes.

Eye Color: The color of your eyes. Mostly for aesthetic purposes.

Skin Color: The color of your skin. Mostly for aesthetic purposes.

Age: The age of your character.

Psychic Abilities: Some people are born with psychic powers innately. Determined by a random dice roll upon character creation. The color of one's blood determines how likely psychic phenomenon is present.

Class: The role in which your character aids the party and channels their aspect. This is determined along with your aspect by taking this quiz: http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/rvalle/hsquiz/hsquiz.html

Aspect: The force which your character employs in their powers. This is determined along with your class by taking this quiz: http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/rvalle/hsquiz/hsquiz.html
Or, if you come up as something that is already taken, you just pick one from the list that hasn't been taken. Non canon aspects will be allowed if we get more than twelve players.

Dream Self: What kind of Dreamer your character is. This can be determined by taking this quiz: http://quizilla.teennick.com/quizzes/23975750/are-you-a-derse-or-prospit-dreamer-pictures
This field also says whether your dream self is 'awake' or not. Determined by aspect/ random roll.

Likes: Things your character likes. A reasonable amount of items relating to your likes can be found in your characters home for alchemical purposes.

Obsession: Something your character likes to a ridiculous degree. Often something that many people think is stupid in some way. Objects relating to your obsession are quite prevalent in your room for alchemical purposes.

Dislikes: Things your character dislikes. These things are harder to find in your own home for alchemical purposes.

Personality: The way your character acts. This should be in line with what you entered to determine your character's class and aspect.

Guardian: Who raised your character, and current status. Usually determined by species, but there is usually room to make choices. Players do not name their guardian, only relationship is stated except in special cases.

Ancestor: A person with whom you share significant genetic similarity, and has an impact on your back story in some way. Players do not name ancestors. Only relationship is stated except in special cases.

Syladex Modus: The way you store and retrieve items. Standard is Array Modus, though other modi can be used with permission.

Specibus Abstratus: The weapon type to which your Specibus is attuned. You can only use weapons that fit into your Abstratus, though more can be picked up as you go. Some characters may begin with more than one.

Inventory: This is a place to keep track of what is in your inventory.

Specibus: This is a place to keep track of what weapons are are in your Specibus.

Prototypings: What your character has prototyped their kernelsprite with, and whether they prototyped before or after entire the Medium.

Text Color: The hexadecimal code of the color of your character's text. This is the color you will post in. Often determined either by Blood or Eye color, though any color may be used.

Typing Quirk: A quirk that your character types with. Whenever your character is speaking, you will type with this quirk. Quirks can have verying levels of complexity. (All characters can inexplicably 'read' words that are spoken aloud if they are spoken with a quirk) Examples include character replacement or particular capitalization patterns.

Speech Style: The way your character talks, the level of diction, or particular tempo.

Brief back Story: A bio for your character. How they found out about Sburb, and what their living situation is.

Races

Player races

These are the races currently known to exist in the Universe.

Humans:

Humans are the most populace race in the world, being native to this world.

Names: Names of human Sburb players fall into the format of a first name with four characters, and a last name with seven characters.
Astrological Signs: Human physiology and social role is unaffected by Astrological Sign, using it mainly as a way to tell fortune or determine who they pair well with. How much stock your character puts into this is up to you.
Blood Color: All humans have bright red blood. There are no exceptions to this rule. Humans with discolored blood die at a young age due to the genetic defect.
Hair Color: Humans have hair in a range of typically neutral to warm colors. Blacks, browns, blondes, reds, and typically grey as they grow older. Other colors are rare, but can happen.
Eye Color: Humans have a range of eye color of typically neutral to cool colors. Blues, greens, browns. Other colors or heterochromia can happen, but are rare.
Guardian: Human guardians are typically a direct biological relative, such as a parent and are always also human, other situations happen, but are not the norm. A human guardian may be one's ancestor, but not always.
Ancestor: A human ancestor is someone who the character draws distinct genetic lineage from. Often a parent or parent of a parent. Other situations can happen, but are rare.
Text Color: Humans typically type with in their eye color, though may choose another color for various reasons, but always has a reason.

Trolls:

Trolls did not originally exist in this Universe. They were brought here on a pair of asteroids by unknown forces when their own Universe ceased to exist. They typically remain on their asteroid most of their lives, trying to rebuild their civilization. The trolls from the two asteroids have quite different cultures. On one asteroid, they came from a violent society known as Alternia where the higher rungs of the social structure subjugated the lower rungs, while on the other, known as Beforus, the higher rungs supported and help those lower develop. A trolls class on either is determined by their blood color. It is unknown why the two varieties of troll exist, though it is believed that they came from separate yet similar Universes where something drastically different happened to cause the differences in culture.

Names: All trolls have names fitting into the format of a first name with six characters and a last name with six characters.
Astrological Sign: The Astrological sign a troll was born under determines their blood color, and thus where they exist on the hemospectrum and where they are in society. Aside from those born under cancer, the social structure goes higher the cooler the blood color and in order that the Signs occur throughout the year.
Blood Color: A troll's blood color is determined by their sign.
Aries: Burgundy
Taurus: Bronze
Gemini: Yellow
Cancer: Red
Leo: Olive
Virgo: Jade
Libra: Teal
Scorpio: Cerulean
Sagittarius: Indigo
Capricorn: Purple
Aquarius: Violet
Pisces: Fuschia
Those higher on the spectrum live longer, by a significant margin. Those of fuschia blood living for thousands of years, while those of burgundy blood live only thirty to sixty years. Conversely, those lower on the spectrum are far more likely to posses powerful psychic abilities. Ones blood color also has an effect on their horns, often taking a form similar to their sign.
Hair Color: Trolls typically have black hair.
Eye Color: Trolls have yellow eyes while growing up, which fill in with their blood color upon maturity.
Skin color: Trolls have grey skin.
Guardian: Trolls guardians are members of a group of species called lusus naturae, usually refered to as a lusus, or lusi. Upon hatching a troll is selected by a lusus dependent on their blood color. Lusi are similar in nature to one's Astrological sign, though are quite numerous in types and appearances.
Ancestor: Troll ancestors often predate them by entire lifespans. The troll reproductive cycle is long and confusing, and does not require ancestors to still be alive. It is, in fact, quite uncommon.
text Color: Trolls typically type in the color of their blood, unless they have some reason not to, which is seldom, usually only red bloods, due to the mutant nature of their blood.

Psychic Abilities

A character's psychic abilities are determined by die roll during character creation. The likelyhood of a character having powers is determined by the roll of a d20 and blood color. If you do not want psychic powers, you can always default to not having them.

Red: 19 or Higher
Fuschia: 18 or Higher
Violet: 17 or Higher
Purple: 16 or Higher
Indigo: 15 or Higher
Cerulean: 14 or Higher
Teal: 13 or Higher
Jade: 12 or Higher
Olive: 11 or Higher
Yellow: 10 or Higher
Bronze: 9 or Higher
Burgundy : 8 or Higher

The kind of psionic ability is determined by the roll of a d8:

On an 8: Roll twice, get both. (two instances of the same increase degree by half of lower degree, rounded up, max is still degree 10)
On an 7: Telekinesis
On a 6: Telepathy
On a 5: Mind Control
On a 4: Animal Control
On a 3: Teleportation
On a 2: Technopathy
On a 1: Vision Multifold

The strength of a psionic ability is on a scale of 1-10, and is determined by rolling a d20

On a 20: Degree 10
On a 18-19: Degree 9
On a 16-17: Degree 8
On a 14-15: Degree 7
On a 11-13: Degree 6
On a 8-10: Degree 5
On a 6-7: Degree 4
On a 4-5: Degree 3
On a 2-3: Degree 2
On a 1: Degree 1

It is possible to go up a degree through training, but it is difficult. You cannot learn new psychic abilities except through extreme extenuating circumstances.

Class

The method by which one channels their aspect.

Seer

A seer is a passive class with intimate knowledge of their aspect, guiding their party using this knowledge. A seer can be described as "one who benefits others with their knowledge pertaining to their aspect". Seers almost instinctively know how to play Sburb, as though they had a walk through embedded in the back of their minds.

Knight

Knights are a passive class that exploits their aspect as a weapon to defend their allies. A knight can be described as "one who defends others by wielding their aspect". Knights act instinctively, often succeeding without really knowing why.

Rogue

Rogues are a passive class generally assigned to female players, who 'steal' their aspect to benefit their party. A rogue can be described as "one who steals their aspect, or allows it to be stolen, to benefit their party". Rogues look out for those in need, often helping without others noticing.

Thief

Thieves are an active class generally assigned to female players who steal their aspect to benefit themselves. A thief can be described as "one who steals their aspect to use it against their foes". Thieves are typically underhanded, or instinctively have kleptomania.

Bard

Bards are an unpredictable passive class generally assigned to male players, their role having to do with destruction of, or through, their aspect. A Bard can be described as "one who allows the destruction of their aspect, or invites destruction through it". Bards are unpredictable, often being either their party's sole reason for victory in a bleak situation, or their unexpected downfall when on the cusp of victory. Often both.

Prince

Princes are an active class usually assigned to male players who destroy their aspect, or with it. A prince can be described as "one who destroys their aspect, or destroys with their aspect". Princes are often full of themselves, and rarely second guess themselves, often getting themselves or their party into trouble.

Sylph

A sylph is a passive class that is generally assigned to females that has to do with healing in some way. A Sylph can be described as "one who heals their aspect, or heals through it". A Sylph has a hard time ignoring those in need, and gets frustrated when they are unable to lend their aid.

Witch

A Witch is a female exclusive passive class that aids those around them through their aspect. A Witch can be described as "one who manipulates their aspect to aid those around them". A Witch often has a higher understanding of their aspect than others of their aspect, nearly on par with that of a Seer.

Maid

A Maid is a female exclusive active class that is a play on words, literally being 'made' of their aspect. A Maid can be described as "one who provides themselves with their aspect". Maids tend to be highly self reliant, only relying on help when necessary.

Mage

A Mage is an active class usually assigned to male players that benefits themselves with knowledge of their aspect. A Mage can be described as "one who benefits themselves with knowledge of their aspect". A Mage is a tactical genius when it comes to their aspect, often instinctively protecting themselves from it's common use.

Heir

An Heir is an active class, who protects themselves with their aspect. An Heir can be described as "one who is protected by their aspect". Heirs tend to understand very little of their aspect, but make up for it by instinctively knowing how to use it in a pinch.

Page

A Page is an active class generally assigned to male players who has a great deal of potential in their aspect. A Page can be described as "one with untapped abilities dealing with the aspect". Unlike most other classes, Pages do not instinctively know anything about their aspect, or it's use, they can, however, eventually learn to control it in the same manner as any other class.

A dream self is important to each character as a means of escaping death once, ascending to god hood, and learning more about themselves. Ancestors

A characters ancestor is someone who they have a distinct genetic tie to and who also plays a critical role in their back story. No character begins with knowledge of who their ancestor was, it is found out later through diligent research, or happy circumstance.

Syladex Modus

A Syladex is the means in which your character maintains their inventory. A Syladex functions on the basic principles of items being stored in Captcha Cards, which are cards capable of storing physical objects where they can't be damaged or lost. Most Syladex Modi cannot Captchaloque, or store in Captcha Cards, an object larger than a small person, though some have been known to.

Modi

A Syladex functions on a Modus, which determines how objects are stored, and retrieved. The standard Modus is Array, which is easy to use, but is hard to weaponize.

A few Example Modi are as follows:

Array
An Array Modus stores an object in the first empty card, and any item can be retrieved at any time. New objects cannot be picked up if one does not have enough cards.

Stack
A Stack Modus works on the principle of "First in Last Out". The new object is stored in the first card, all others being forced down a card. Only the item on the first card can be retrieved. If too many objects are picked up, the object on the last card is jettisoned out of the Syladex wherever the character is facing, often for hilarious consequences.

dAMURO
This Modus utilizes the free open canvas drawing app known as MURO, which can only be found on deviantART.com. Much like the Pictionary Modus, each Captcha Card must be drawn on in order to captchalogue items. Unlike the Pictionary Modus, the item drawn is determined by a well worded description in the "artist's comments" box rather than relying on the Modus itself "guessing". This Modus can be used to create objects that you don't possess, but only if said objects are physically possible. Any machinery or tech created will work exactly as described in the comment box, but again, only if this tech is possible in the user's era. Captcha Cards are posted into the Syladex folder of your deviantART gallery automatically, and are presented in a gallery view for convenient browsing. Any card can be selected at any time from the gallery. Ads can be disabled by buying a deviantART subscription! Get more browsing privileges, a new symbol before your username, and BROWSE YOUR OWN CAPTCHA CARDS AD FREE!

Pokedex
A Pokedex modus allows you to store up to six items on your person at any time, while the rest go to be stored on a server dedicated for that function. In order to captchloque an item, you must first capture it in a 'captcha ball', which can then either be placed in the modus or stored on the server. Any item on your person may be traded out for any item in storage, at any time.

Operation
The Operation Modus requires you to remove the desired item without hitting the boundaries around it with a pair of metal tweezers. The Modus adapts to how many, and what kind of, items are stored in it. You still must have enough captcha cards to store the items in the first place.

These are just a few examples. Others Modi do exist, and their functionality can be as complicated as desired, so long as it remains constant and kept track of. All Modi not listed here must be cleared through me before being used.

Specibus Abstratus

A Specibus is a simpler form of Syladex. All Specibus are effectively in Array Modus. A card holding an item must be removed from your Syladex to be place in your Specibus, and the Specibus must have the proper Abstratus.

Abtratus

A kind abstratus is a generic type of item your character is capable of wielding as a weapon. It can store any item that accurately falls under it's typing. A player starts with one kind abstratus of their choice unless otherwise noted.

A list of Abstratus allowed are: (Note, I may add more if you ask nicely.)

Inventory and Specibus

The Inventory and Specibus fields are used to track what your character is currently carrying, either in their Syladex, or in their Specibus. Keeping track of what item is in what slot of your Syladex is important if you are using anything that does not use the same in/out rules as Array.

Prototypings

Each player may prototype their kernelsprite twice. If the kernelsprite is not prototyped at least once before entering the medium for even a single player, the battlefield will not advance to it's final stage, and the game cannot be completed. Each prototyping before entering the medium enhances the enemies you will fight with whatever was prototyped. The sprite cannot be understood by players unless it has been prototyped twice. Sprites understand things about the game players are meant to learn as they play, and are meant to guide players through the game with cryptic riddles.
