Abuse of "would" is a terrible crime. This word is a future tense word. Don't use it unless you're referring to something you MIGHT do. I don't understand why people love to rape this poor word. I will drop a roleplay for this crap. I need to know if something happened or not. The word "would" does not make your post seem prettier, nor does it make it seem more intellectual or fancy. It makes you look like a retard who can't remember the difference between past, present, and future tense. Past tense makes sense. Present tense is forgivable. When you yank a roleplay into the future tense, I'm left asking "what!?" and looking around for where the hell the RP went, only to catch up to it an hour or so later. If you don't know how to use it, then DON'T use it.
If you want to make your post seem super literate and that crap, then learn the language. If you're really worried, pull up a trustworthy source and STUDY what you don't know. Swapping tenses mid post, or even mid-sentence, can detract from it. All it takes is a single effed-up verb tense, and you and your post look like you belong back in middle school.
Still having trouble? Pick up French or Spanish. Their verb tenses will straighten your thinking right out! A few years, you might improve your English skills from derp-tastic to something akin to what a person should know if they were raised in an English-speaking country! And non-English natives rejoice! This is a language problem that you guys don't seem to struggle with, from my experience! You guys tend to speak the language so well, I get all hot and bothered.
