User ImageBlowing on her hands softly she wondered why she ever bothered to come to the isle. It was so darn cold sometime that she wished she had stayed back in the village of her mentor. That place had to many memories for her to truly want to stay but remembering the warm summer days was enough to make her daydream that staying had been an option. There was a cold rain outside but it showed signs it might let up in a few hours so for now here she was stuck inside an empty shop. At least she wasn’t alone. Alu-lote and Luin were taking shelter in the stables and Meikia was busy cleaning out the ashes out of the fireplace in the kitchen area. Reoakee was looking forward to making some tea and then laying across her bed and taking some time to write out some poetry. There really wasn’t much else to do today. None of the villagers would likely come out with the weather being this bad unless it was a real emergency. The marketplace would be meager at best and the inn would be packed full of loud noisy rude adventurous full of too much ale. A stray strand of hair drifted in front of her eyes and she tucked it back. She sighed and wondered why she even bothered to stand out behind the counter on a day like this for any period of time. Perhaps it was just habit or something to do. Reo idly tapped her finger on the counter while she thought about it. After a moment she decided it was because she had a sense of belonging behind the counter and it was something to do that kept her out of Meikia's way. The last thing she wanted to was to get underfoot. Reo knew when she did because Meikia took on this little hurt face look but wouldn't say a word about it. Honestly that girl needed to speak up for herself more. If she didn't live with Reoakee then Reo felt it save to bet that Mei would end up crying in an alley in the city because she was trying to clean the streets and people kept stepping on her. The idea was probably very unrealistic but it was one that Reo kept flashing to whenever she thought about Mei on her own.

(Would have posted more but sadly it’s time for me to go so here we go.So this will be fine for now and I can add the others in later. ^.^)

Out in the chilling rain a set of three where making the last leg of their journey. It had taken several days for them to make their way to Forlu and they were all tired, hungry and in need of a resupply. So it had been decided that before they group headed to any of the local inns for a good day or two of rest, they would stop at the shopkeepers place. Both for supplies but also for information. Vesi badly needed a place to stick her roots for a while. That meant finding a permanent place for her, her bonded and her bondeds mate to roost but also permanent employment. Street shows where fun but her dancers garb was not a made for cold weather. Better to find a warm inn or tavern with stage to play her trade. She didn't know if she'd find work and board in one place of in two. She used the mind link to ask Tess to go a big faster. She could see the shopkeepers place just ahead and knew the that both Azrein wanted to be warm and dry badly. Atrus looked especially forlorn and soggy and while it made her want to giggle it also made her want to inside even more. "Come on guys. I'm sure she has a stable we can borrow till the rains stopped and I can find us lodging."

She swung off Tess' back as the got close and ran the rest of the way to the door. Her sodden cloak dragging and clogging with mud. She wondered absently how long it would take the fur lining the hood to dry as she ushered her horses and then herself inside.

As the door came open Reo blinked twice. In came a soggy mess. Mei would just love this there was mud dripping off the stranger’s cloak and onto the wooden floor. What happened next was even more concerning. The Azrein traveling with this cloaked sopping person were actually coming in. Holding up a hand she bid them to stop. Not a chance. The Azrein. Outside follow the right side of the shop. The gate will be open when you get there.” Honestly what was it with travelers and just coming in and doing whatever they wanted? That was one of the bad things about living in a village were a bunch of travelers came and went. There was always some stump who thought they could do as they wanted in the shop and just get away with it. Reo had a sharp enough tongue to stop such antics quickly enough. “And would you please shut the door. There’s really no need to let all the wind of the isle come riding in on your heels.” What Reo didn’t say was that it would greatly increase the temperature of the shop and that would be good for the both of them. She sent a set of quick thoughts to her dear bonded. Alu-lote could you pop your head in the kitchen and have Mei bring out a glass of something warm? We have company. Very very cold looking company. Luin could you open the back gate? You will be having a few others join you shortly.

Luin rolled her eyes. It figured she’d have to leave the stable and head out into the cold. She sent Reo a terse little reply about freezing her hooves off and letting her bonded know she expected something nice for doing this. Once she heard her bonded promise her something sweet Luin’s mood cheered considerably. Out into the cold the mare ventured bravely. The sky couldn’t be seen with the clouds I n the way and that bothered her. Aw well at least this would only be a temporary thing. After all storms came and went but the stars were always there. She even managed to smile as she nosed the latch that was the height of her bonded’s head. She had wondered why the gate was here until one day Reo explained that Alu-lote had foals in the past. Luin wondered why they never visited but that wasn’t really her problem. The stupid gate stayed in pace so Luin had to push against it a bit to show that it was open.

Tess frowned visibly and gave a pained look clearly pleading with the shopkeeper with her eyes. "Please? It's cold." But Ves gave her a shove and promised love and affection later if she would do this one thing now. She took off her cloak and set it on Tess back. Take it back there with you please. I do not see a hook to hang it. She directed her attention to Atrus next. Take care of her like always. Get warm and dry. Both of you. She opened the mind link to both of them then. I'll be back to check on you guys soon. Okay? They both nodded and she gently shoved Tess the rest of the way out the door. "She said around the right side guys." She called as they walked back out into the cold rain. Tess mentally grumbled out loud to both of them the entire way to the now open gate and through Atrus was no more happy he was trying to soothe. Vesi was smiling as she turned her attention to the shopkeeper. Her companions were often a never ending source of amusement. "Hello. I'm sorry about the mess. Perhaps I might help clean it up. I wasn't planning on leaving until the rain stopped. Or until I was done shopping and talking at you for that matter. My name is Vesi Sondreas. Please to make your acquaintance." She smiled and did a short bow in show of respect. What stood before Reo was a 5'8" pale female with sholder length wavy hair dyed violently purple. It matched the purple wool traveling jacket she was currently wearing. Her pants however were a serviceable dark brown and the thigh high boots a worn and scuffed black. The shirt underneath, that Reo couldn't see, was a less violent and more pleasingly light violet in hue and made of silk. She looked strong and lithe and her clothes had clearly been tailored to show this to full benefit. They had also been tailored to hide numerous knives in such a way that no one would know unless you saw one come our or decided, stupidly, to pat her down. She walked confidently towards the shopkeeper and extended her hand to shake.

Tall, dressed to look beautiful, lovely hair, yep it was official Reo was very tempted to just call this new patron a noble and be done with it saving for one thing. Reo had never seen a noble bow to anyone. It was a surprise and one she was almost flattered by. She smiled still trying to figure out where to place this Vesi. Not much for handshakes she shook her head politely before speaking again. “The mess isn’t as much worrisome as you drowning outside my door so don’t worry about it. Stay until the rain clears up if that suits your needs. Also your Azrein will be fine. The stables fairly warm and Luin and Alu-lote will be looking after them. We can head through the back of the shop and you can see them anytime you’d like. I’m Reoakee and welcome to the odds and ends shop.” Reo gestured about the shop that was filled with little knickknacks here and there. There was a shelf of books next to a shelf of daggers and above a shelf of glassware. Despite the menagerie of the items that were displayed each was carefully sorted and displayed in a manner that was pleasing to look at. Much of the shop was herbs and plants put into poultices and tinctures. There were a few hanging herbs above the counter top. Next to a shop ledger on the counter there was a stuffed toy of an Azrein and a red book beside and ink pot and quill. Keeping her mental bond open to Alu-lote and Luin open she wasn’t surprised when Mei popped out of the door behind her with three glasses of tea. She just nodded to the Skh’et and introduced her since she knew how shy Mei was. “This is Meikia she’s my shop assistant. Mei this is Vesi Sondreas her Azrein will be joining us in the stables and one of them will be having a rather soaked cloak.” She watched Mei’s ears twitch with amusement. Reo knew that Mei was a neat person by nature and would probably have the cloak clean and drying before Reo could finish her tea. Picking up her glass she savored the aroma of the tea. It was one of her favorites. An earthy smelling tea then when tasted made her think of honeyed bread by a warm hearth. Reo was hopeless when it came to breaking down the complex flavors of tea but she knew how different blends made her feel and that was good enough for her.

User ImageTaking stock of the floor below their guest Mei wanted to start washing right away. She couldn’t help it. She loved to have things clean and neat. She supposed it was one of the reasons why Reo let her stay here with no expectation of having Mei do anything useful. Mei and Reo had never really spoken about their living arrangements it just seemed to have fallen into place. Mei was grateful for it though. She gave Vesi a soft smile she knew how Reo’s blunt attitude was something of a shock to many patrons. Still once you got to know her Mei didn’t think the half elf was so bad. “I’ll take care of your cloak Miss Sondreas. Then I’ll come back and take care of things here.” Mei didn’t mention the mess because she was certain that would be rude. “Please feel free to relax and if you need anything let me know. I’ll be back in a moment.” With that all said she set down the tray she was carrying on the counter and turned about to head back through the door she came through. The sooner she got that cloak wrung out the sooner she could get it dry over the kitchen hearth.

Luin took a look at the Azrein coming. She nodded at them and called out. “This way. Come on in.” With that she moved away from the gate so that the others could come in. She was wet and looking forward to getting back into the stables where it was dry and warmer than being out in this rain.
