Text to Jordan
Busy being bored. And I'd love one! It's been forever since I sparred someone! Meet you at the training field~

A spar with Jordan would be good for her. A legit one with her weapon and not driven out of her mind with too much power from borrowing Circe. When Jordan arrived he'd find Candace waiting patiently, stretching out and just waiting for him to arrive.

Jordan arrived soon afterwards, looking rather more relaxed than he had in weeks. He'd kept to himself for some time immediately after being released from the infirmary, but even after that, anyone who'd known him for a reasonable amount of time might have recognized the tense and haunted look he wore half-hidden under a carefully constructed mask of calm. He seemed less tightly wound now, though. "Hey," he greeted Candace casually, and began his own quick warmup routine. "How have you been?"

"MEH." Candace snorted with displeasure when Jordan asked how she'd been, making a face and waving a hand dismissively in the air. She didn't want to talk about it but it was clear she didn't like how she'd been. She stretched her arms behind her head and watched Jordan after giving her fantastic answer, tilting her head this way and that. She hadn't seen him except for...well..before whenever he'd disappeared. Hell, she'd only known he was gone and not just busy until Jerry had told her.

"And how are you? I hear you had..quite an adventure." To put it lightly.

"That good, huh," Jordan replied dryly. At her return question, a shadow of tension fitted across his features. "Alive," he answered, with a short, uneasy laugh. "Could've been better, but I'm functional." It was a more honest answer than he might have given to someone he knew less well, but he respected Candace enough to tell her the truth on this.

His stretches done, he unclipped the runic chain that hung coiled from his belt and wrapped the ends around his hands, jerking it taut and testing its heft. "Ready for some exercise?" he asked lightly.

She sighed and rubbed the back of her neck, giving Jordan a frown. "I've done a few things I really, really regret lately. I can tell you later if you really want to know but..ehhhhh. I'd rather not. I'll probably sound really whiny." Candace shrugged and gave Jordan her full attention. She'd rather not whine. It irritated even her. "Alive is good." Her smile returned and she gave Jordan a thumb's up. "It's good to have you back in one piece. I don't have to go easy on you or anything, do I? No long-term injuries or anything like that?"

Candace actually looked surprised to see Jordan wielding a chain. Wait, what? Her brow furrowed. "No Ferros..?" It wouldn't exactly be a fair fight if she had Atropos and he didn't use Ferros. Her gaze darted to his wrists a moment. No, no cuff. He had no reason for a cuff. Jordan of all people? Pfft.

Why a runic chain, though? Maybe he was just going to break out Ferros later. That'd make sense. A Sun had to master multiple weapons, after all.

"Only if you want to talk about it," Jordan said. He was curious, but there were things he'd really rather not talk about either; courtesy for courtesy on subject avoidance. If it were something he should know about, he'd likely find out anyway. "Thanks," he smiled. "No long-term injuries. Mostly they just tried to starve me. Didn't work, obviously. The infirmary let me out with a clean bill of health."

He kept quiet about the lingering mental effects. That was something he'd rather not discuss with anyone, with the possible exception of Killzone at some point. The sooner he could get over the unexpected freezes and flashbacks, the better. He had to learn to keep it from getting to him.

At Candace's question, the corner of his mouth tipped up in a smirk; he looped the end of the chain around his left wrist to free up his right hand long enough to summon. Ferros had changed since Candace had seen him last; the haft was now fully as long as Jordan was tall, and the hammer's head had grown to a good meter long. "If you really want to get hit with him," Jordan said, and grinned.

Then he desummoned Ferros again and took up his grip on the chain, one end wrapped around his left hand, the other end hanging from his right. "Seriously, though, he's getting too big for close-quarters fighting. I need to learn to use what I can when I don't have enough space to summon him. It puts me at a disadvantage since he can't charge if I can't use him, but - " without warning, he darted forward, bringing the loose end of the chain around in a rapid arc, " - that's exactly why I need practice."

Candace shrugged. "Maybe. We'll see how I feel after this. I felt better the last time I talked something out with you so.." Candace smiled. She wouldn't try to pry information out of Jordan like she had tried with Otto. Jordan wasn't running shrieking out of showers because of bugs as far as she was aware, and he was one of the strongest, most mentally stable people she knew. He had other people he could go to if he needed someone to talk to. Not that she wouldn't listen but Candace didn't feel she was the best option for that kind of thing.

Waaaaaait wait wait why is Jordan smirking? Candace backed away almost instinctively, gasping at the sight of Ferros' latest upgrade. Her eyes widened, jaw dropping with shock. "Holy.." Atropos snorted.

All flair, no efficiency.

"What is it with you people and huge goddamn weapons?!" Candace sounded horrified but amused. And somewhat relieved. She was glad the chain wasn't being used because Ferros couldn't. She could fight Jordan with Atropos without feeling like she was talking advantage of them. With an understanding nod for his explanation Candace felt comfortable to summon Atropos and put on her gloves. The weapon purred with delight in Candace's head, making the Hunter grin. Finally she could use her properly. She had yet to do that since being promoted.

"That's fine, that's fine. I was just worried that this wasn't--s**t!" She raised her arms to let them take the brunt of the chain's hit, suddenly grinning and twisting her arm in a way that wrapped the chain around it. She grasped it tightly in her gloved hand and roughly pulled Jordan toward her. At the same time her knee lifted, no blade out, and met with his abdomen. Candace took great care making sure that her leg was high enough to hit him in the stomach and not in the groin. Nut shots were for people who deserved them.

Like Rep.

"I'm glad," Jordan said simply, and left it at that.

He grinned even wider at her look of pure shock; he couldn't help taking a certain amount of mischievous delight in people's reactions to Ferros's alterations. "You say that like I had anything to do with it," he laughed.

He tilted an interested eyebrow as she put on gloves. That was new, at least since the last time he'd seen her fight. Her quick recovery and response to his sudden attack helped to explain it, and even as he staggered back to catch his breath, he admired the reflex-quick counter. Her careful aim was also noted and appreciated. "See," he gasped. "Practice definitely needed."

As he caught his breath, he backstepped and spun, bringing the chain around in a different trajectory this time, aiming towards her leg. "Mental note," he said aloud. "Chains catching and holding - that cuts both ways."

"You, Rep, Jerry, Caelius...if Clarice didn't also have a ridiculously huge weapon I'd think it was a man thing." Candace rolled her eyes and tugged her arm free from the chain. Her gloves glowed with runes but they held no 'special property' other than helping her maintain her balance on her hands and protecting her from cutting them up should she land on say...a broken bottle or gravel. Clarice and Dwight had been nice enough to make them upon her request. "Yeah, it's a good thing you asked me and not someone who'll go crazy in the middle of your fight." She laughed and let herself be tugged down to the ground by the chain around her leg, still grinning.

"It does! But be careful not to get pulled in with it..fool you once, shame on me. Fool you twice?" She pushed off the ground to roll over onto her stomach with the chain around her leg. Hopefully he let go and didn't fall for that stupid trick again. She really, really hoped not. Regardless of what he did she tugged on it with her leg. Hard. It was just to get her leg free so she could spring up and turn on the ball of her foot, bringing a leg around to strike at Jordan with one of Atropos' blades. She wasn't holding back, they were having a legit spar this time. Besides, he wanted practice.

Jordan snorted. "And then you'd have to factor all the guys with small weapons into your theory, and no, we're not compensating, though I can't vouch for everyone on your list." As she wound the chain around her leg and yanked on it, he promptly let go. "Nope," he said cheerfully.

Losing the chain, however, left him open to a punishingly hard kick, and he only managed a smack to her leg in retaliation. "Damn, this isn't working," he grumbled as he dived for the chain again. "Thought this would translate well with our usual style, but it's not even close. Maybe I should be learning daggers instead."

You should be summoning me, Ferros said grumpily.

We talked about this.

"Who else...oh, Otto's weapon is large..and Molly's. Have you seen Molly's weapon lately? Jesus. How such a little girl can lift a huge weapon like that is beyond me..." She shook her head. "Lance has a big one too.." Candace grinned at Jordan's comment on vouching for compensation. I can only vouch for one person on the list, the rest are a mystery. And they can stay that way." There were not enough 'nope's in the world for how okay she was not knowing if Caelius was compensating or not.

Candace blinked and stopped when she felt a smack against her leg, simply staring at Jordan.

She was trying really hard not to laugh. "Did...did you just try to spank me?" Candace snorted with laughter and stepped back away from Jordan, bending down to scoop up the chain and toss it Jordan's way. "Pretty sure that's supposed to be done with an open palm, not a closed fist."

Daggers, huh? Candace shrugged. "I'd love a pair of daggers myself. Attack with my hands and feet~. But of course I haven't attempted the course to get the daggers yet...it's Princess Island, right?" She made a face at that. "I'm not a very good Moon.." Maybe she could get Harrison to do it with her. He was good at that! And it'd been awhile since they'd spent any time together.

Shrugging, Candace darted toward Jordan without a word of warning to close the distance between them. She skid to a stop as she got closer, returning his pathetic little smack with a punch to the arm.

Yes. This is an adult fight between two full-fledged Hunters. Got a problem?

"Never seen Molly's. I take it it's bigger than she is?" Jordan snickered at Candace's second comment. "Definition of too much information?"

He caught the chain when she tossed it in his direction, rolling his eyes with amused embarrassment. "Not really my thing," he deadpanned. "Though that'd be a hell of a way to win a spar, if you really wanted to rub someone's nose in their defeat. Deliver a literal spanking."

He laughed. "Me either until Princess Harrison showed up. Not sure if it was the surreality of the whole thing or what, but I did much better on that run," he admitted cheerfully.

He took the punch with good grace; however, as she stepped back, he pivoted to swing the chain again, this time deliberately aiming for her butt. "That better?"

Definitely a mature adult conversation.

"God, yes. It's this giant lance. It's a wonder she's able to lift it off the floor. And yes, it would be." Candace shuddered and shook her head.

She waved a hand dismissively at Jordan's comment on spanking. But she said nothing about it, already feeling her cheeks flush hotly just at the thought. Damnit. "Yeah. That'd be terrible." She muttered, calming down almost instantly at the mention of Harrison.

As a princess.

She blinked. "...Was it a golem or was it really Harrison? Have to ask these things, you know." Candace loved Harrison but he had a history. "The only princesses I've had so far were Robert, which was <******** hilarious, and Clarice. Clarice makes a good princess."

The chain hit her a** and she squeaked, eyes widening. Her first instinct was to slap his arm with a little more force behind it than the punch she had given him. "My goodness, Mister Miller." She gasped and stepped back, putting on her full southern accent. Daintily fanning herself with her hand, Candace backed away and did her best to look completely scandalized. "How ungallant of you! You should know better than to hit a lady." Because Candace is totally a sweet Southern belle.

"The bond makes them feel light enough to carry," Jordan said. "Doesn't make the mass or space they take up any less awkward, but Ferros feels about the same weight as a standard sledgehammer to me."

He noticed the blush but opted to ignore it, because nope, any speculation there was straight back into TMI land in spades. Ferros snickered.

"Golem," he laughed. "Not that much different from the time with the band-aids, or with the cookies, though."

"That would require me to be hitting a lady," he replied, grinning evilly and flicking the chain in her general direction. There was no way he was winning this spar, but he was going to get a shot or two in before Candace knocked him over.
