It was good mirror walking was an easy, almost effortless thing now, or Lesath would have been in a real bind…but as it was, walking through to Jett’s bedroom wasn’t that difficult at all. She got there and let her fuku melt away, leaving her pajamas in its wake and looked around the room for Jett.
Damn. Of all the times for that boy not to be in his room…
Her wrist was in complete agony and her head was throbbing, if she wanted to be daring and reach up and touch it, she honestly wouldn’t have been surprised if there was some blood there…something felt sticky in her hair. But, that wasn’t something she wanted to deal with at the moment.
The girl walked over to her boyfriends’ bed and sat down on it, leaning against the headboard and sighing. Ow. She was just in a world of pain, and she really, really wished Jett would get there quickly…
She could use a hug…or some pain medicine…or a trip to the hospital.
Any of those three would work right now.

While Jett had been focusing most of his time on the Dark Mirror Court, with school starting up, that meant he had to divvy up his times appropriately. The Court might one focus of his life, but he hadn't worked his a** off to just quit his schooling. He was close to graduating and—hell, how long would this war last for? He wasn't going to go into it without having a backup plan.
One that was making him more than enough money to get by.
So, he'd been up late tonight—trying to get ahead in his studies so that, should something come up in the future, he'd still be covered.
He'd brewed another cup of coffee and had just been fetching it when Raven entered his room; he hadn't been expecting her at all so when he walked back into the room, he had every right to be surprised. "Raven," he greeted, confusion in his voice. It wasn't that he was unhappy to see her—just that this was exceptionally unprecedented.
And he could tell something was wrong. "—What is it, are you all right?" he asked in a tone that sounded as demanding as it did concerned. He was quick to move to her side, trying to assess just what was wrong.

She looked up at him, relief in her face, even though a small scowl tugged at the corners of her mouth as he sounded so…well, not loving and not boyfriend like. “Do I look all right to you?” She snapped. If he was going to sound like an a**, then so was she. She didn’t have to deal with this. She could just as easily have dragged herself to the hospital. Why did she bother coming to Jett anyway.
The blonde closed her eyes and drew in a breath. “I think my wrist is broken. It shouldn’t bend like that. And I think my head is bleeding, but I’m too chicken to check. Guess I was really in the wrong place at the wrong time tonight. I was looking to see if there was any jewelry that you could buy me, you know. If we had a fight. And some ******** eternal senshi jumped me. And…Well. He got really pissed, and I have no idea why.”
She was trembling, the fear not yet having left her system, not really. She wanted words of comfort from her boyfriend. Not demands to tell just what was wrong. Hell. He should be able to see what was wrong. “I’m quite sure I should go to the hospital…could you give me a ride?”

Jett had gotten used to Raven snapping at him—but who was he to control his tone when he was concerned? It wasn't his fault if he was still working on how to express worry. Leave it to Raven to let an enemy sneak up on her because she was checking out jewelry, though.
With a heavy sigh, he set down the coffee he'd just gotten so he could apply all of his attention to Raven.
He could see blood—and from the head was never a good sign. If she'd knocked her head hard enough, there was the possibility of a concussion—and while Raven probably liked to complain and make more of a fuss about things than was necessary, if she thought she was hurt, he'd humor her.
It helped that she certainly looked the part. She was afraid—he could see her shaking. His eyes drifted to her wrist for only a split second before he nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, I can do that. Come on, we'll go get you checked out, make sure you're not too broken." He extended a hand to her, gently pulling her up by her good arm.
Not particularly known for his tenderness, that did not mean that Jett Draven didn't try, and while it was imperative that they get to the hospital to make sure she wasn't too terribly damaged, he thought it important to give her some sort of reassurance.
He embraced her—lightly, conscious of her wrist and wanting to be delicate with her should she have any other injuries. "…You'll be all right, Rave. How long ago, just a few minutes?" he asked, tone softer than before.

She nodded, resting against him. “Yeah. I got to the mirror as quick as I could and came right here…what’s my cover story gonna be…I’m thinking I could tell the doctors I fell down the stairs or something…” The blonde sighed, letting her eyes close. All of the pain was just making her sleepy, and she kind of wished that she could just get to bed now and have this night be over.
“Guess I should have just stayed home and worked on my stupid paper, huh. It would have been a lot better for me, in the long run I’m sure.” She really felt…dumb right now, and now Jett knew that she was stupid and wasn’t paying attention…but it just…she hadn’t wanted to get into any fights tonight. It just sort of happened, and it wasn’t her fault that the last few fights she had been in she had left on top of things!
“I got cocky, that’s all…I overestimated my strength and got my a** handed to me…”

Jett was chewing on the inside of his cheek thoughtfully as he listened to the girl; he was more angry at whoever had hurt her than he was concerned for her well being—which probably wasn't the best way for him to go about it. Yes, he cared for her. Yes, he wanted her to be all right. Yes, he wanted her to get the best treatment possible.
…But he was already trying to figure out how to make this all right in more than just the here and now. He was not one to allow forgiveness to anyone—and while he held a grudge against those that had wronged him, he was protective of Raven.
She was his—not necessarily his responsibility, but she was his. It didn't matter if she could fight her own fights, he took it personally when anyone dared lay a hand on her. When anyone hurt her. When they frightened her.
He ran a hand down her back, trying to be reassuring. "It's not your fault," he insisted. He could have pointed out that she should have been training more, or she shouldn't have allowed herself to lower her guard—but she had learned her lesson. She was shaken and injured, and there was nothing like a good a**-kicking to straighten you up.
Raven didn't need biting words or scolding comments, and he wasn't going to tear her apart for making a mistake. He should have. He should have told her how stupid it was—how things like that are what got you killed.
But he could chastise her later.
"And this won't happen again. Don't blame yourself. You're already at a disadvantage with an eternal—and he jumped you. Nobody's going to blame you, so don't you dare blame yourself, Raven. If you need to learn from this, do that, but I don't want you standing there, tearing yourself apart. You can't change what happened in the past. Do you want a pain killer? Ice pack, coffee? Something sweet to eat in the car? You look tired, but I don't want you going to sleep on me, not with a head injury. You're not feeling weird, are you? Dizzy, headachey, ears ringing, light sensitive—anything odd?"

Raven sighed. “An ice pack would be nice…I’ll worry about pain killers and s**t when we get to the hospital. No use taking something here then not being able to get the good stuff there, right?” She gave a small smile and then rolled her eyes.
“Well yeah my head’s hurting. I think there’s a huge a** hole in it. Or at least that’s what I keep imagining. But other than that, no. I’m just tired. I’d like to get there so they can let me know I’m allowed to sleep. You’re going to stay with me, right?”
A small hint of desperation crept into her voice. She didn’t want to go through this alone, not anything in a hospital. She came to his house for that reason, among others, but for the reason that she wanted him with her. She wanted his support. “You’re not going to dump me there and then leave me…I don’t know if I could forgive you for doing that to me, you know…you’d have to buy me a lot of jewelry to make up for it…”
The blonde swallowed then made a face. “So…would you buy me this really pretty bracelet I found…not now, of course but later…as a get well soon present…maybe?”
She might have been pushing it, but…she wanted her mind off of everything…and teasing Jett. That was easy. That was life.

Jett drew away from Raven just slightly so he could examine her expression, and when he did, he ended up staring at her for a long moment. Jewelry? Oh, he should have known. He cracked a smile for her—a less than enthusiastic one, but it was late, he was tired, and now his plans to get ahead in class were entirely caput.
…But Raven needed him, and even if she hadn't been his girlfriend, he'd have still driven her to the hospital and stayed with her. He'd have done it for any member of the Dark Mirror Court—but of all people, her especially.
"Relax, I'm not going to dump you anywhere," he said, hand sliding from around her waist to take her hand. He leaned forward, planting a light kiss on her cheek before he drew away and continued, "I'd rather not get you something to accent your wrist if you're going to be wearing a cast. You should be looking for earrings." He paused. "Or a ring."
Silent for a brief moment, he seemed thoughtful—then shook his head and gave her hand a little tug. "Come on, let's get a move on before you develop brain damage or something."

Raven did relax, she was very, very glad he wasn’t planning on leaving her at the hospital, and rued her words for at least a few moments, finally though she gave a little smile and leaned forward, giving Jett a brief peck on the lips. “I know I don’t say this enough, but I really do love you, Jett Draven. And I know I overreact, but you are the very best boyfriend in the world.”
She held her wrist horizontally, though even that was difficult with the way it was bent.
“I don’t think I would react so badly if I didn’t love you that much, you know. I get…possessive, and sorry if I smother you.” Clearly she must have hit her head hard if she was spouting such things to Jett. She shouldn’t want him to know she got weak for him. No, that wasn’t the Raven Moore way.
Oh well. It was the truth.

While Raven's words were endearing, Jett was only momentarily suspicious that something was wrong. He wondered if she'd been hit that hard on the head—or if she was just so shaken up that she felt like she needed to get something off her chest. Either way, he wasn't going to complain. He was terrible at sentimental things—when it came to sweet talking someone, sure, no problem. But when it came to really accessing those emotions? When it came to both acknowledging and expressing how he really felt?
Damn, it was hard.
At least she'd done a fine job of stroking his ego in the process of unsettling him.
"Well, Raven Moore," he said, returning her formality. He raised a hand, lightly stroking his fingers through her hair. He didn't want to injure her, so he was gentle, brushing his thumb lightly over her cheek as he teased her hair. "You might overact, get possessive and smother me, even that wouldn't stop me from loving you. You're charming, pretty, passionate and clever, and I wouldn't change a damn thing about you."
