How long had it been? Weeks? Months? It honestly felt like forever. Aquitaine had tried to keep busy over this time, to keep her mind occupied so that it would not think about those unpleasant thoughts, yet all too often, especially at night they came to her. What had happened to him since she last saw him? Agave was her friend, though she had only ever seen him twice, she worried about him. She knew he wasn't the frightening beast his mother had made of him, she had seen that in the way he had tried to save her by forcing her away from the mountain. If he were truly evil he would had captured her. But no, he had saved her that day and she had tried to save him. He had told her not to come looking for him, and she hadn't but it had been so hard no knowing.

In the time since she had last seen him Aquitaine had done a lot in her life. She had gained knowledge of herbs, learned how to defend herself from attack and learned a variety of other things. Yet the one piece of knowledge she wished for was unavailable to her. What was happening with Agave? Aquitaine stood in the warm sand looking out over the ocean. About a month ago she had decided to make a change in her life, and that change was leaving her family home. She hadn't gone far, just down the beach a ways but it was the first truly independent move she had made. Her family was still close enough she could visit each day and in fact she often did. On several occasions she had tried to tell her father about Agave, about how she was worried for her friend but each time she had spoke of other things. Would her father, or her mother for that matter, understand why she worried about a creature who had been raised to be evil? Would they tell her to stay away from him? Or offer to help? She knew they could not help Agave, he had to get away on his own.

With a heavy sigh Aquitaine stepped into the ocean, walking until the water caressed her knees, the waves tickling her legs as they came in and out. She looked down at her reflection as the waves distorted it, one moment it was clear the next the ripples of the water shifted it about. Though she tried to stop her thoughts she found Agave was on her mind once more. Would he ever escape his mothers hold? What would happen if his mother broke that final shred of goodness in him? Would she ever get her friend back if that happened? A single tear rolled down her cheeks and dropped into the ocean. She felt lost, unable to not think about him and also unable to help in any way.

Agave felt like he had been traveling for years though he knew that it had only been days. With each step he took the green stallion felt like he was walking on fire as the gash along his shoulder burned and pulled, it was infected - he had known that after the first day of traveling when the bloody ooze had start to smell and been joined with a yellowish liquid that dripped down his shoulder and matted his hair. He had tried to remember what to do for it..but honestly he was lost, Supreme had always seen to his wounds and so, he just continued walking.

As if the shoulder wasn't bad enough Agave was also keenly aware that at lease a couple of his ribs had been cracked in that last fall, breathing itself was a horrid affair and he didn't want to think about what happened when he had to travel over rough ground, each jarring stride bringing a hiss to his lips. At least the cut across his cheek which had originally swelled several of his eyes nearly closed was beginning to subside though it was still suitably puffy looking when he caught glimpse of it in the water reflection. Water..he needed water..and food..but the blow he had received from the other stallions head had done more damage then he had originally thought and while he didn't think anything was actually broken..it was was certainly hard to chew..or drink. Painful enough that even he who was used to pain had found his appetite gone and slackening his thirst a chore.

He was dehydrated, wounded, sick and yet he had kept going, he had kept moving until his nose grazed the ground because he was no longer strong enough to hod it upright and several second often elapsed between one step and the other. Only the smell of salt on the air kept him moving forward at all - salt and water and a strange rushing sound he had only heard about from a blue mares lips. Waves upon the shore.

Suddenly the tough sawgrass he had been walking through turned to sand and he stumbled with the added effort it took to walk through it, stumbling to one knee and then with a groan slowly giving up and falling to his side. Had he made it? He could hear it, he could smell it..and yes if he moved his head just a little bit he could see it. The ocean..and yet there was no familiar blue mare silhouetted against it's wide expanse, in fact this ocean was a while lot bigger then he had expected, water filling his entire vision...how would he ever find her here? He had followed her directions in vain hope, but now he was thinking that perhaps he had only found a pretty place to die, his spiders scurrying around the sand nearby.

Oh well..there were worse things i life. That he knew well.

Aquitaine remained where she stood, in the knee deep water, for what felt like hours. It was funny how when certain thoughts filled ones mind time felt so much slower than it actually was. She could count the time by the waves that splashed gently on her legs and what felt like hours had only been a few moments. Today she was alone, she had not visited her parents, which while not completely abnormal was a rare thing. She may have moved further down the beach to gain some independence but nine out of ten days she saw her parents. Perhaps she should go to them now, voice her concerns and see what advice they could offer her if any. But Aquitaine worried that they would not understand, and part of her wouldn't blame them if that was the case. No, she couldn't talk to them about this, not yet at least. There were things she needed to sort out on her own before going to her parents, if she were to be a true independent adult then she needed to stop relying on them at every turn and do things for herself, only gaining their guidance when fully needed.

Slowly she turned away from the vast ocean, it's never ending water reminded her of the current state of her thoughts, constantly shifting but never truly disappearing nor being solved. Aquitaine let out a sigh and started to walk along the sand where the very edge of the waves faded away. For once in her life the ocean did not calm her, but merely reminded her of the torment of not knowing, the waves taunting her like bits of information coming at her then rushing away before she could absorb them. What a cruel thing.

Her dragon let out a low rumble but she ignored him. Today she was not in the mood to deal with his temper, and simply gave her head a shake, a sign to the hair beast that she was not talking to him. But then he rumbled again, this time louder and more insistent to gain her attention. "What?" She half whispered whipping her head around to look at him. In that moment she noting an odd mass of green just a bit further down the beach. It didn't look like a plant, in fact plants didn't grow that far into the sand. So what was it? Curiosity go the better of her and she headed towards the green object.

Her curiosity turned to excitement and horror as she came close enough to see the green mass was her friend Agave. He was laying in the sand and appeared to be fairly badly wounded. "Agave?" She question, almost not believing he was there. Aquitaine closed her eyes for a moment, thinking this was merely a dream and when she opened them...he was still there. Definitely not a dream. She took another step close, lowered her head and pushed her nose gently into his side, careful to stay away from that gash. When her nose made contact with his skin she nearly cried in joy, it was him, it wasn't some dream, this was truly happening. Of course her relief quickly faded away as she saw the extent of his injuries. That wound on his shoulder was infected and the way he was breathing told her his ribs might be broken. "Agave, please talk to me." She needed him to remain alert so she could find out if there were any other injuries on him. She would need her herbs but she couldn't bear to leave his side just yet. "You made it Agave." She told him, with a smile. "You made it." And now she would save him.

Agave had given up, he had left behind everything he had ever known and while yes it had been a cruel and harsh world, it had still been his world. This new one was bright and strange, it required knowledge that he did not possess, he had grown up knowing where everything was on the mountain...but out here you had to find it and quite frankly he wasn't entirely sure how, he wasn't even sure he wanted to learn, a part of him, a large part, had decided it would just be better to let go and die. It was at least a nice place to die, the sound of waves crashing was soothing and the call of sea birds overhead provided a chorus that he had never heard before, even the sand though gritty was a far sight more comfortable then the rock floor of his mountain abode.

But shortly after he had closed his eyes and made that decision a voice came to him, a quiet soft voice floating down from somewhere overheard. It was a cruel trick that his mind was playing - to make him hear her voice when it was quite obvious that he wasn't going to find her in time. Perhaps it was his minds way of trying to push him onward - but it if was Agave wasn't going to fall for it. It wasn't until the muzzle touched him that he stirred, startled by the contact his skin twitched. Touch couldn't be fabricated by his mind...could it? When the voice spoke again he opened a few of his many eyes, slitting them against the light to see a blurry outline that slowly focused in her. Aquitaine.

She was smiling at him, she was telling him that he had made it and his heart leapt at the thought and the sight. Maybe it wasn't time to give up after all. His spiders had all shied away as Aquitaine approached but now that Agave was stirring they had returned, drumming their little legs at the mare and hissing until Agave hushed them with a growl. "Your ocean is a lot bigger then I thought it would be..." He finally managed to speak though his voice was raspy and harsh, the words painful to form due to the swelling of his jaw. Collecting himself he forced himself up from his side and on to his chest throwing his front legs out as though to try and stand..but only getting halfway before sinking back down. He was to weak to stand - but it was weak and wrong to remain on the ground, back home he would be flayed alive for it...but..he wasn't back home now was he?

A soft hissing pulled her attention away from Agave for a moment. She had not seen the spiders when she had first come upon him, but the way they quieted at his growl told her they were his. A small shudder ran down his back, he had not had them last time they had met, but that had been so long ago. She almost laughed when he mentioned how much bigger the ocean was than he had thought. Aquitaine watched in horror as Agave tried to get up but ended up back on the sand. "Agave, please don't move." He needed to remain down so that he could rest and those wounds of his needed to get looked at. Though now that he had moved a bit she could see swelling in his face, some of his eyes were barely able to open. "You are hurt badly, you need to rest." To think he walked all this way in his condition, it proved he was free. But then her head snapped up and looked out towards the trees that cut off the beach from the rest of the lands. What if he had been followed? But she didn't see anyone and there was a bigger concern that someone following him. If she didn't take care of his wounds he would die.

"I...need to go get my herbs so I can help you." She went to turn to leave but stopped herself for a moment. "Please don't move, it will only make them worse." Hoping he would listen Aquitaine turned and raced back towards her little beach home. She had been busy the last few weeks gathering large stores of herbs and now if looked like she would need every last one to help Agave. It was hard not to panic. Up until this point she had only treated a few minor cuts with herbs, Agave's gash was large and infected, his ribs were possibly broken and she wasn't sure what was causing the swelling in his face. She moved as quickly as possible gathering up the herbs she knew for sure she would need along with extras in case there were injuries she didn't know of. Tucking them into a bag she had found she looped it around her neck then gathered up a small turned shell which held a rock in it and hurried back towards Agave.

Once there she dropped the shell and rock, shrugged off her bag and got to work digging around in them. First she pulled out a couple of berries and set them on the sand in front of his nose. "Eat these, they will help." They would reduce the pain he felt at this time. Next she began to place some leaves and more berries in the turtle shell and using the rock she ground them up into a sticky paste. Pulling a large leave out of the bag Aquitaine then used her long slender tail to slather the paste onto the leaf. She then looked over at Agave. "This will sting, but it will help fight the infection." Picking up the leave she laid it down over the wound on his shoulder, carefully using her nose to make sure it was in full contact with the wound. "I...I can't use my healing powers, they are too weak." She admitted, wishing for once she had the full healing powers of a unicorn. "But these herbs will help." Her eyes swept over him once more, it was still hard to believe he was actually here after all this time. "Agave are there any other injuries? I need to know so I can help you."

Yes, he was hurt badly, he knew that - though he wasn't entirely sure which were worse, the wounds to his body, or the wounds to his pride. That rainbow beast had beaten him and Agave had never lost before outside of training...no mere valley stallion had ever been able to get the better of him like that in the past. It was shameful....which only made being thankful for it all the more confusing in his head. So much had changed, so much was different and confusing and a part of him wanted to share these confusing thoughts with Aquitaine, quite sure that she could help him puzzle them out. But it hurt to much to talk and so he would keep them to himself for now. Rather then answer her remarks however he merely conceded to her wisdom and refrained from trying to stand again, no matter how difficult it was for him to stay in such a vulnerable position now that he had decided to live.

Seeing her look towards the trees with a fearful gleam in his eye Agave tried to reassure her. "Wasn't followed, made sure of that." In fact, he would have been here a lot sooner if he hadn't doubled back to check his trail and taken a few roundabout ways to make sure no one was coming after him. That first day out especially had been filled with paranoia - but either his mother and She-ra had other things to worry them still, they couldn't find his trail in the chaos of the battle sight...or they had been killed. Either way the important thing was that no one was coming for him and that meant it had been safe to come here. Had it been harder on his wounds? Of course but that was the price one paid for safety - and he certainly did not want to endanger Aquitaine. Wasn't that why he hadn't left with her the first time?

When she said something about herb Agave was relieved, herbs had always been his saving grace before - granted he had always returned to Supreme before his wounds had gotten quite as bad, but the herbs had always helped to heal his hurts and the knowledge that Aquitaine knew of them as well was a reassuring thought. Rather then speak again he merely agreed to remain where he was with a sigh and a look. Once she was gone however the stallion couldn't help but shift a little bit - just enough so that he could see the area around him to a greater degree. The scent of water nearby was tempting..oh so very tempting and he looked longingly at the rolling waves only a little bit off. All that water..and he was so very thirsty.

Before he could give into the temptation of the water however Aquitaine had returned, demanding that he eat some berries, which he did - though he made a face at their overly sweet taste, sweet things were a rarity on the mountain and truth be told he had never quite learned to savor them the way some others did. He didn't even flinch when she put the leaf on his wound - oh it did sting, it stung a great deal..but Agave was already showing more weakness then he could stand and there was no way he was going to let himself show more. "Nothing about you is weak" He told Aquitaine in his ragged voice. "You should not say such things, especially out loud." Weakness was taken advantage of, it was something to be hidden.not flaunted, certainly not stated out loud for anyone to hear it. "Nothing that will not heal on it's own." He told her truthfully - he didn't think she could do much of anything for his ribs and his face and jaw..well that swelling would just have to go down with time. "I will be fine when the swelling goes away." He assured her, ignoring the pain talking caused in favor of conversing with her again.

He was so strong, even in this weakened state she could see that. The way he didn't flinch when she placed the paste on his wound, any other Soquili likely would have shied away from it and perhaps even called out in pain. She herself knew how badly it stung, having used it on a few cuts of her own, but considering how large Agave's wound was she had actually been afraid he would black out from the pain. But he endured it as if nothing happened. Seeing that told Aquitaine that he would be alright. When he spoke her ears perked forward. She had never been told something like that before and it made her smile softly. After knowing what Agave's life was like she understood why he didn't wish her to claim her weakness for the world to hear, but out here it wasn't a shameful thing, it was simple truth. She wanted to tell him there was nothing wrong with admitting ones weakness but now was not the time for such a conversation.

A sigh of relief escaped her when he said the other wounds would heal on their own. He had likely endured similar injuries in the past and knew them well. It was a painful thought for her to deal with but Agave's world had been so different than her own, that even now she had a hard time believing anyone could live like that. "The paste should clear out the infection in a day or two. I'll need to reapply it a few times." She told him, because honestly she didn't know what else to say at this point. While Aquitaine have never given up hope of seeing her friend again she had also never imagined him arriving so broken. It was all so hard to digest. Looking over him she considered something. "I'll be right back." She whispered then picked up the turtle shell again, dumping the rock from it and disappeared into the trees.

It was a few short moments later she returned walking so very slowly and carefully, the turtle shell clamping into her jaws. She had gone to a nearby stream and filled it with water, the shell was heavy and awkward to carry but she knew Agave needed water. Carefully she set it down in front of him. "You need to drink." Of that she was certain he already knew, but she had to make sure he did so to help the healing process. Lowering herself to lay beside him Aquitaine glanced out over the ocean for a moment to collect her thoughts. "I..." She began but found the words failed her as she looked at Agave again. He was her friend, one of only a few she had, and after so much time not knowing what had become of him he was here, he had kept his promise. "I'm glad you made it."

Agave was not looking forward to those reapplications - but of course he wasn't about to voice that concern out loud, instead he merely grunted in acceptance of the inevitable. The infection needed to be cleared out and if that meant enduring a little bit more then so be it, there was no point in whining about it, doing so would not change the facts. Before he could express his thankfulness to her - and he was extremely thankful that she knew about these herbs, that she was willing to help him - she was up and off again, taking with her the strange object that she had brought with her.

Deciding that she must know what she was doing - certainly everything she had done so far seemed to prove that. He had never questioned before how one learned these type of things - he had merely taken for granted that someone did and used them for their skills as necessary. It wasn't until now, after he had been alone and not known what to do that he had missed the availability of skills. Skills that he rather wished someone had bothered to teach him.

Such things probably required a great deal of intelligence however and had he not always been told that he did not possess that quality? No unless they required brute force then he was sure he wouldn't be very good at it. It was good that he had someone smart like Aquitaine around to help then wasn't it?

When Aquitaine returned with water Agave thought he might die of sheer anticipation, it was all he could do to wait while she set it down and force himself to drink carefully less he spill the entire shellful into the sand. The water was so cool and so refreshing, it eased the dry grittiness of his mouth and throat, it even seemed to cool some of the heat caused by the swelling. When he was strong enough to walk again perhaps he would go and find himself a nice pond to just..stick his face in for a little while.

But at the very least the water restored him somewhat, enough so that when Aquitaine spoke he felt as thought he could answer without his voice sounding like his throat was full of sand. "Almost didn't, almost couldn't - but there was an attack, I gave myself away and so when the chance came I had to leave. Leave or be killed" He shared with her.

Aquitaine remained silent while Agave drank. She would need to make several trips to gather water for him, but she was willing to do it. Whatever help he needed, she would provide it for him, for that had been her promise to him the last time they had been together, if he came to her she would help him. No she had that opportunity before her and Aquitaine was a bit scared, what if she couldn't help him? The wounds she could help to heal using her herbs but would Agave himself be able to adjust to life not under his mothers control? Would he be able to become a regular member of society? These questions she did not have the answers for but would do whatever she could to help him along the way.

His short explanation made her shake her head. He had almost died, she could see that by his wounds, clearly gained in the attack, and he had chose to run. To live. Had he stayed...well she couldn't think on that, Aquitaine had so few friends that she couldn't bare to think about losing even one. She sat there for a long time not sure what to say. What could one say when someone left the only life they had ever known because the only other option was death? Aquitaine just couldn't imagine it, and she was thankful for the life her parents had given her where fears such as that were not commonplace. Oh she had had some run ins in the past where death threatened her, but no where near what Agave had gone through.

After a few hours Aquitaine lifted the leaf covering his wounded shoulder to check on it. During the time they had laid there very little was said, likely because neither of them really knew what to talk about. She had made two other trips to fetch Agave water, each of which he drank quickly. Yellow ooze came up with the leaf, but that was a good sign, the paste was doing it's job of drawing out the infection. "I need to put on some new paste." She said pulling the leaf off all the way then repeating the earlier process of grinding up leaves and berries, applying the paste to a new large leaf and then settling it onto the wound. Her eyes glanced up at the sun, it was late afternoon already, she needed to get Agave someplace more sheltered for the night.

"Do you think you can walk...just a short distance?" She asked and then continued on to explain. "The beach can get cold at night, you will be exposed to the wind, and worse the salt from the water will get into your wounds and make the infection worse." That she couldn't afford to let happen. "There is a small grove just over there." She pointed with her muzzle, it was only a short distance away. In fact it was the clearing she slept in at night, her home.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 11, 2012 8:45 am

Agave was not at all concerned with the silence which befell them, in fact he found it almost soothing, he hurt and he was ill but it was nice not to have to worry about putting on an act, not have to constantly stress about weather or not someone was going to come up on him and find him doing something that he wasn't supposed to be doing...like lazing around as he was now. Oh he knew that he needed the rest, that it was imperative to his healing but try as he might he couldn't quite shake the thought that at home he would have been seen as being lazy...and he couldn't have afforded that back there. Here..here he could and he intended to take full of advantage of it.

In light of that decision he dozed in an out while Aquitaine lay beside him, randomly prodding at his wounds or fetching him water which he drank with a greediness that almost ashamed him, he couldn't help it - he was still so very thirsty no matter how much he drank. It wasn't until his blue companion stated that she needed to replace the paste that Agave stirred to full wakefulness again. He was being terrible company and he steeled himself for the press of the paste upon his wound, refusing, as before, to cry out at the sting of it.

"I can walk" He stated with a confidence that he did not entirely feel, confidence of tone however was often enough to make another believe you and Agave did not want Aquitaine to think he could not do something. Bad enough that she had already seen him fail to stand once. "The mountain is cold and windy" He told her while he gathered himself to stand "It would not have bothered me overly much" Although the mountain did not have this salt she was referring to. In any case it would be good to get back on his feet and after resting for most of the day and drinking some water he was sure that he could do it. Throwing his feet out in front of him he heaved himself up, swaying unsteadily for a few moments as his vision blurred but it cleared quickly and testing the motion of his shoulder he was glad to feel the pain lessened slightly - perhaps from those berries she kept feeding him.

As she had pointed the way with her muzzle Agave determinedly began the slow and careful march in that direction - he would make it, and he would do so without stumbling or falling in front of Aquitaine, gritting his teeth he willed it to be so.

Aquitaine got up and stepped back to give Agave the room he needed to get up himself. When he swayed she nearly stepped forward to help balance him but two things stopped her, she wasn't sure if he would accept the help and her dragon would likely lash out at Agave if she got that close. She waited as he gained his balance and took his first steps towards the sheltered grove. Once she saw he was managing well enough on his own she took a moment to gather her herbs again, stuffing those that remained unused in her bag before looping it over her neck. Next she placed the rock back in the turtle shell before picking it up and setting off after Agave. He hadn't gotten all that far in the time she had taken, which spoke of the extent of his injuries, and though he never complained about any pain she was certain he was suffering from some. There berries would help with that though and she would make sure to give him more before night fell upon them.

Walking along beside him on his injured side Aquitaine was ready to help him should he stumble, but Agave proved stronger - or was it more stubborn - than she had imagined and made the entire short journey without any help. Guiding him into the small grove Aquitaine motioned towards a spot with soft grass. "Lay down there." And then she busied herself with putting away her herbs, taking stock in what she had used up and placed the turtle shell and rock in a hole within an old dead tree. The tree was where she stored most of her herb supplies, as it kept them out of the rain and wind. Once her task was done she turned to look at Agave again. "How's your shoulder feeling?" She would need to check to see if walking had opened it up any, allowing the blood to flow from it once more but first she wanted him resting again.

She glanced around the grove for a moment. "This is my home...it's not much, but it's all I really need." It was shelter, that's what was important, close to the ocean, close to her parents, with a stream not far away and a meadow full of grass on the other side of the trees. Pausing she grabbed a few more berries from her small stash and brought them over to Agave. If she could keep the pain at bay and the infection under control then he would heal quickly. "Do you need me to bring you anything? More water? Or something to eat?"

By the time he got to the sheltered grove Aquitaine had pointed him towards Agave was beginning to curse his inability to ask for help. His shoulder was burning again though he did not think it was bleeding. it was hard to tell with the leaf covering it still, stuck on quite well with the use of her healing paste. Laying down where she instructed him he watched as she puttered about putting her things away - by the familiar way she moved around he had a feeling this was her home before she actually told him so.

Agave was appalled. Horrified even. "It burns somewhat" He told her truthfully as he continued to look around with blinking multiple eyes. When she confirmed his worst fears a few moments later Agave sighed slightly. Had no one taught this mare not to sleep in dangerous places? This place was far to exposes..the trees that sheltered them from the wind also hid any enemies that might be approaching - even worse the crashing sound of the waves not to far off would cover up any sounds which might otherwise give those intruders away. Oh sure it was comfortable and nice looking..but dangerous, so very dangerous! "Do you have guards posted outside?" He asked finally, quite sure that the only way anyone would live in a place like this would be if they had protection of another sort. It was nothing like his high, secured mountain cliff - and while he had not seen any guards he also knew that if they were good guards he wouldn't have seen them, there was some hope in the stallion that this was the case.

Her eyes settled upon Agave as he lay in the grass and told her of the burning in his shoulder. "That means the paste is working, though I imagine some of the burning is from the stress put on using your shoulder so soon." And then she paused knowing he wouldn't like what she had to say next. "It will need plenty of rest over the next few days, try to keep your weight off of it as much as possible, but if you are feeling up to it a bit of walking now and then will do you some good." She fell silent again, feeling awkward at playing the role of healer to her friend. She had hoped that when they met again they would be able to talk, not of injuries and bed rest but of other things. His sigh brought her attention back to the present, why was he sighing? She decided not to ask. This was likely going to be a long process already just helping him heal his injuries, everything on top of that would be dealt with if and when she could.

Ears pulled back slightly at his question. Guards? "There...are no guards around here Agave. This is a safe place, we don't need such things." And then before he could argue this, because she felt certain that he would she quickly added. "I can have Gaul keep watch if you wish." Gaul, how would he react to Agave's presence? She would deal with that when the time came. Settling down into the grass a short distance away from Agave Aquitaine let out a sigh of her own. "Now stop worrying and eat those berries. I want you to get some sleep." Giving Agave a stern look Aquitaine wasn't sure if he would listen to her, would his pride allow him to rest for as long as needed? Likely not but she would do what she could to keep him quiet and still while his wounds healed.

Agave snorted when she stated that there were no guards - how was he supposed to rest if he was fretting all night long about intruders? When she stated that she would ask someone to keep lookout it mollified him a little bit, enough so that he didn't demand that they immediately leave for safer ground. He tried to tell himself that Aquitaine had clearly been living here safety for a while now, but that could just be a fluke..when he was healed, provided no one came and murdered them in the meantime, he would see to securing her land properly for her.

It was the least he could do in thanks for her help. In the end despite his worries Agave had little trouble falling asleep, nearly as soon as he ate the berries and lay his head down exhaustion overwhelmed him and he was out.
