Ive been bumming around the service subforum lookign for something we could do to get some more money for the ball.

Now, I already eliminated the idea of a bump shop due to past experiences with it, but that doesn't mean we can't do something else for the service subforum.

One idea was a tarot shop. This would be fortune telling, answering basic questions, basically anything that would work with the supernatural. Could also have something to do with dream interpretation.

Another was possibly a magazine (though that wouldn't be in the service forum). It would be a play on maybe a monthly guild announcement about what is going on in the planning guild, and various little indie threads on gaia.

Then there is of course the friends for hire idea that we were trying to work on last year. Despite it not going through, it was still a great idea.

We could also probably do a job placement shop, where we find capable people to put in places where they are hiring (bump shops, art shops, anything). I saw this once in the forums but I am not sure if it fully got off the ground or not.

Another thing that is gaining popularity is a heart buying shop, where you can pay for the person and everyone in their shop to heart a specific thread.

There could also be a charlie brown advice shop. Like a gaian psychiatrist, where people ask for your advice in various topics. Depending on the tropic, we could charge different prices for each.

We could do various services like fishing, bug collecting, anythign that would be part of the games section of gaia, so yes this does mean zOMG can be included. Im sure people want a mass quantity of brass or soemthing.

Another idea, that someone suggested but I'm not sure who, was the Roleplay Search Finder. Basically, we would be hired to either find people for a roleplay or find a roleplay for people to join.

I like all of the above ideas as well!

Right now I feel like our resources for outsourcing is low in the guild, as many people are already engaged and committed to their respective committees. We wouldn't have an issue with art shops as many of our artists are on board for that already (has the shop been created yet?), and we can probably rely on the Host Club to help organize shifts or teams for hiring out Role-Players in new Role Plays starting up in Barton...

... I'm not sure about the tarot shop, unless we have a member or two who is willing to volunteer for it. I will leave that one alone and up to whoever wants to take it into their hands.

I like the magazine idea, but I think that would be better to have in our publicity thread rather than a separate thread entirely. It would have to be more about advertising for future and current events, not so much what is going on in our guild unless it were to encourage people to join and help out.

I'd like to hold off on friends for hire and job placements until our shops are all up and running smoothly and efficiently, and when we have the numbers in our fundraising/advertisement committees to pull them off.

Also, I'm not sure how I feel about the Charlie Brown shop unless it were a spoof where we give people fake advice which is all humorour. They wouldn't tell us their real problems either. I just don't like the idea of charging virtual currency for hearing problems from people online, and then giving them advice when we don't really know them or their lives. If the humour idea isn't popular then it could simply be a support thread where people come to talk about things that are bothering them and then, instead of telling them what to do we can simply give them support - but without charging them anything.

I need the application filled out before I can get the two shops up and running.

As for a tarot shop, it would be volunteer based, so its only if we get at least 1 person who wants to do it.

I thought of the magazine because as a crew i cant send an announcement to be able to get people into the fundraising forum to talk about some of these ideas, and I really would love to. Is sending an annoucement something I have to talk to you about?

And thats exactly why I said Charlie Brown shop, it would be a fun thing, where the advice would be really nonsensical.

Mmmkay, sorry! At first glance I thought you meant opening a real kind of advice thread and alarm bells started dancing around behind my eyes and making all kinds of ruckus in my thoughts. As long as it's all for fun then that would be great!!

And I can of course send announcements for you whenever you'd like. Just let me know when and what you would like in them!

So just to clarify; you want the magazine for the guild to pass along to members? We'd need a couple people dedicated to that solely, I think, to make sure it gets done on time.

I figured once the News Room was fully formed they could take it on, as well itd be weird for a newsroom not to do the news xD.

And alright, thanks for telling me about the announcements, I really was rather unsure about it.

I'd be willing to work with you to run a pixel-roleplay cafe in the style of Ice Pandora and Pink Sugar Cafe.

The artist(s) that make the pixels that are sold function as chefs and work primarily behind the scenes... everyone else roleplays the role of the front of house staff -- most would function as part of the waiting staff, but there can be one person who functions as the maître d [or headwaiter] to collect money and is in charge of running events.

There is no form to fill out to purchase food in these kinds of threads and people roleplay placing their order. You could see if people from the host club would want to get involved occasionally for special events.

I posted that suggestion a week ago. All I've been doing since then is butting heads with the fundraising committee, so I really don't even want to say anything... but it's rude to not even acknowledge that someone responded to me.

Ah, well try not to take it too hard! We've all be a bit busy working in our little areas and it's easy to miss a post, especially if we're not quoted in it smile
Sometimes I miss a reply because I open up a window to reply (I sometimes open up 5 or more tabs at a time depending on how many replies I plan to write) and then get distracted by something. When I come back I sometimes close windows without remembering there was a reply waiting for me!

No, I mean... I don't even want to post in this area of the guild as I'm not getting along with the fundraising committee, but I felt like I should at least post something to acknowledge that I read your post and wasn't ignoring. That's all.

Heeeeeeey, did I hear someone say Tarot cards?

I would love to volunteer for that. I have a deck at home, and I'm absolutely terrible at reading them! Ahem, what I meant to say is that I need practice, and this is a perfect opportunity to practice without hurting anyone or blowing something up by accident.

I'll dedicate as much as I can, which is probably like 3 readings a day average (though, I must warn you, I'm applying for colleges, so this number might vary), but after January or after I'm accepted out something, I'll definitely be able to dedicate more time.
