Hey Y'all! Moo (or Glass, or Whim...) here, to bring some options.

So after a week or two of hardcore parkour brainstorming, we have gathered up a list of redeeming ideas for a theme for this year's roleplaying room.

What is a roleplaying room, you may ask?

Well, basically, it is a room in the community forums for us ball handlers to run. Basically, on the first screen of pages will be general info: settings, staff characters, information on the ball, affiliates, etc. etc., followed by the roleplay itself. It should be around a semi-lit area. Basically, it is our warm-up spot, to hone our roleplaying skills or polish them off, and we could even use it to train others. Attached to the thread will be an OOC, in which we can explain to people interested in stopping by the idea behind the ball, what they can do to help, and basically start to build up a network of roleplayers for the next ball.

So the groundwork is done. Next step, choose a theme. Post your ideas for the themes below!

I have never been to any of the places in the poll but i voted for a Run Down Louisiana Pub, i imagine it to be cozy with jazz music and a calm crowd, my second choice would be Pool Hall / Irish Bar but I am a bit afraid of what could happen in a real Irish bar because i have several times seen Irishmen and men from Wales beat each other bloody and that is a bit scary.

Comic Book Cafe! I love places like this, and actually want to own a cosplay cafe when i'm older

Lousisiana Pub with some Calm Jazz and Bartender Style drinks sounds like a cool, good way to get the more literate and smaller details practice out of the way and the Irish Pub is a fun way to Roleplay drunkenness and attempts at accents while even trying to make a comical bar fight.

But my vote goes the Comic Book Cafe because everyone can have their fun with would be anime fights, drinks and all sorts of Anime representations, since it is a much easier topic to handle in regards to everyone who doesn't roleplay, to those that are going to Semi-Literate to full blown Novel like writting.

I think a coffee shop is more versatile, but I think that we could attract some fun/geeky conversations in a comic book shop. biggrin

How does one talk about comic books? i cant think of any conversation i would hold that would involve comic books or manga/anime. Can i have some examples? Because i have no idea what kind of rp or conversations happens in a comic book cafe.

Hmm, I like the coffee shop idea, but the comic book cafe would also be good... What about a tavern of some sort?

I like any of them except for the Comic Books and not just because the others seem like a good opportunity for me to make pixel food for you to sell and make money for the ball at the same time. I just think that the comic book appeal is more limited or more accurately, everyone has their favorites and isn't going to want to talk about a series they've never read.

The last thing I finished reading was Bakuman and before that Beck. I'm currently reading Übel Blatt. I'll probably pick up either Amatsuki, Annarasumanara, Seven Shakespeares, or Bartender next. Okay, who has read any of those and wants to have a geeky conversation about comics with me?

Exactly! I just used that as an example as that's my current "to read" list. I've read enough of MPD Psycho to have a conversation about it, but I really would never want to.

I watched Beck. Amazing.

Definitely the Comic book cafe. There could be separate rooms for American comics and manga, and a bar in the back for people who like the more "adult but still pg 13" kind of thing.

I think I am going to change it to a cosplay/comic cafe. Think it would make more sense?

Have you seen the movie Kickass? A lot of the scenes with the two friends are in a comic book shop/cafe.

You discuss the comics you've just read, what could happen in the next one, conventions, or anything you would discuss in any other cafe. It's just a place to hangout except, being a comic book cafe, most of the other people in the cafe will have similar interests so it tends to be a more comfortable atmosphere.

Just as cafes with open mics are more comfortable for musicians or poets, and sports lounges are more comfortable for sportsfans.

I think that would be a lot of fun!
I'm going to dub this thread officially an Advertisement committee project (where everyone is welcome to take part, of course) for the sake of the personalized graphics.
