Still a work in progress
Player Name - Fall of Reason Character Name - Paolo Gender - Male Age - 30 Nationality - American (late 1920s) technically but Italian at heart.
History -
Paolo's father was a made man, a member of the mafia, and while his mother wanted anything but for her only son, it was pretty much envitable. He would do small errands for his father and his associates, namely running things, when he was in his early teen years. He had started doing more offical work by the time he was seventeen.
His father was died when Paolo was nineteen, he never found out if it was an accident or an actual hit. At this point Paolo had pretty much no option other than to throw himself further into his work. Being the man of the family he felt responsible for looking after his mother and younger sisters.
This were going alright for him for a while, me managed to be made and move up the ranks alittle. All of this broke down when a war between two different families started up. Too low on the food chain to know the exact details, but one had to figure it had something to do with the death of a member of another family. His own family did not come out of this ahead, ending pretty much in shambles. Now Paolo had come out of this with a considerable amount of blood on his hands and his enemies were happy to try and clean up what ever strays from his family were left.
Then time broke for him and he was able to slip away in the chaos that the world to keep himself alive.
Personality -
In his adult life he has become a smug man with an over confidence in his own abilities. He can also get offended fairly easily if someone doesn't think him capable of the task laid before him. Use to using violence to solve problems he can be quick to anger.
He loyal though, to his superiors and to those that he considers his close friends. He'll be willing to jump through hoops for either. He is slow to trust however so getting to the point where he considers you a friend may take a while.
He doesn't see his life style as bad one. He knows by societal standards he is not a good man, but it is all he has ever know, and everyone he knows does the same, so in his head he is very capable of justifying all his actions. His entire world has always revolved around this life style so for him it is almost the entire world.
Paolo has a soft spot for his family. He would do anything for his mother and his two younger sisters. He generally teaches women with a good measure of respect because that was what his mother taught him. He isn't completely immune to lashing out at women it just happens considerably less often than with men. He tends to treat women with kid gloves, or like they're delicate.
Reason for Joining -
While Paolo is adaptable enough that on his own he could very do just fine, even with time messed up the way it is. However all his life, safty and security was always found in a larger group, the family. While he could probably take care of himself, with the family gone, he feels insecure, and even if its not concious he feels the need to be a part of something bigger.
Skills -
Information Gathering - Over his career Paolo has become very good at getting the information that he needs. Either though having made friends in low places, knowing how the underworld works or with threats and extortion, he has a way of getting at least something when he goes digging for information.
Questionable Morales - Paolo is not afraid to get his hands dirty. He will do whatever the job requires him to do. He already has blood on his hands so whats a little more. He does have a bit of an issue with fighting women, being taught to respect them and coming from a time and culture where women were not involved in his kind of shadey dealings, so he generally doesn't think them fair targets.
Nerves of Steel - He is use to working in high pressure situations and it is hard to scare him or make him other wise nervous, even if the plan is going to hell.
Biligual - Taught Italian at home by his parents and learned english out in the world.
Flaws -
Quick to Anger - In his world a lot of the time violence solves problems, so when he feels like there is a problem, some one not respecting him
Questionable Morales - He isn't above lying and cheating and stealing whenever it benifits him. He will generally be honest with his bosses, and close friends, because that was what he was taught, though it is a thin line. Lying could mean death but then again, some times so could truth.
Not So Healthy - He smokes like a chimney and a life time of having his mother spoil him rotten with food, he isn't the athletic sort. He isn't fat, still having the remains of a youthful metabolism, but he will be when he is older. He isn't good at hand to hand combat.
Additional Notes - I might change his name yet. I'm not sure how much I like it.

Just a note, Fallen, while a mafioso would be interesting, LOTUS agents are generally initially typical of the country they hail from, not necessarily stereotypically so, but if Paolo is Italian at heart, it might be better to make an Italian quest. While you can still have a Mafioso, maybe you could put more focus on his connection to his American home? He's definitely not a first generation immigrant, it seems, so how has the culture that he grew up in affected him? How is he American?
I would elaborate on his history and personality. He grew up in an unusual situation, how did it affect him as a child? What was his contact with other children like and how did his mother influence him if she didn't want him to get involved with the mafia? How did he feel about his father's occupation if his mother was against it and how did he initially get involved in errand running? Did he ever have ambitions other than joining the mafia? How was he educated and who were his friends? What was his relationship with his father?
Did he feel bitter when his father died and he had to take care of the family? Towards his father? Towards the perpetrator? Did he ever try to investigate or did he accept it as an occupational hazard? How did he cope with it? How did his family cope with it?
You never really tell us about his peers and what they think of him. What's his "family" like? What's his position within the family exactly, and what does it entail? What's the rival family like? What was Paolo's role in the war between the two, and when his family fell apart, what was his reaction? Did he have a deep attachment to his family? Did he have friends who died or suffered? How did his flesh-and-blood family fare in all of this? Since he joined the mafia in full to take care of his flesh and blood family, is he worried about them now that time has broken?
As for the personality, how can he not see his lifestyle as a bad one at all if his mother didn't want him to do it? Does his mother's opinion just not influence him that much, or did she go through a change of heart? If he's smug, how does he deal with being in a position that doesn't have a lot of authority behind it within the family? If he's confident, is he also ambitious? Is he a perfectionist, or does his temper make him slapdash? What does he do when someone embarrasses him who he can't lash out at? What if a woman broke his heart or made him look foolish? What if one of his superiors made him look foolish? Is his view of women prone to giving him sexist tendencies? How would he react if he had to work for a woman? What if he had to kill one? What kinds of people does he make friends with, and how does one win his loyalty? What are the qualities he looks for in a friend? What does he do with friends? What are his hobbies? What does he do in his spare time in general? What subjects did he like in school, if he attended school, and does he think much about things, or is he more of a person who lives in the moment?
Skills- I would think that any weapons he might have mastered during his time in the mafia. As for nerves of steel, how useful is that when you've already said he loses his temper easily? Getting angry can be just as destructive to a plan as getting scared.
Flaws- Is the Quick to Anger blurb unfinished?
Hope this helps a bit! I would also proofread for clarity if you have time. Try reading it aloud to yourself!
