 800 HP (Because Meph can evolve two more times, he has 800 HP to start out with. HP can increase through bonuses, but I will not be using them.) VS  900 HP (Because Rylis can only evolve one more time, he has 900 HP as a base amount.)

Rolled a three: Grass field: The breeze from the stadium air conditioners rustles the flat grassland arena that has replaced the default stage. Small clouds of harmless pollen fly through the air from the breeze. The land is completely flat, making maneuverability easy to those build to walk on land. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GRASS and BUG type attacks
((This is the field we will be utilizing, as decided via dice roll. Fields are not required, but they add an additional layer of complexity to the battle, and I've always felt that jumping right in is the easiest way to learn.))

Lenore walked into the stadium with Mephistopheles floating at her side. The duskull floated down to the grassy field below to await his opponent.
((This is the introduction post. You roleplay your character entering the stadium, and sending out the pokemon of choice. You also roll a 100 sided dice. Whoever rolls higher begins the battle.))

There already was a distinct lack of confidence in the trainer as he moved into position. He was shaking like a leaf caught in an autumn wind and clutching hard to the straps of his travel pack that clung to his shoulders. Beside him walked his faithful companion, Rylis, a black-fleeced flaaffy.
Baird's knees felt like jelly when his opponent released his poke'mon onto the field. The single shifting eye of the duskull rocked back and forth like the swaying pendulum of a grand clock. "Rylis..." His voice managed to croak out.The flaaffy growled quietly and descended onto the battlefield. Frightened as his trainer was, he wasn't willing to back down from a fight. He pawed at the ground then sent a small arch of electricity out from between his striped ears. A small show of confidence if only to boost the morale of his handler.

Mephistopheles noted the unease displayed by the other pokemon's trainer. It reminded him of the villagers back in Orre. An uncomfortable feeling welled by inside him, but he shoved it aside. Lenore had saved him, and there was nothing that would change that.
He bowed before the flaafy. "Greetings. My name is Mephistopheles, but you may call me Mephisto if you so choose. I shall be your opponent for this battle. good luck."
Raising his arms, the duskull summoned shadowy tendrils to whip around him.

((I used Ominous Wind to increase Mephistopheles' attack. A pokemon can have 4 stat changes total, good or bad, and then it can no longer have any. In this case, all direct damage I deal is increased by 50. Direct Damage is basically any attack that isn't status like burn or poison.))

Rylis ducked his head in turn. ~"My name is Rylis. Don't hold back."~
He glanced back to his trainer, his dark eyes seeking Baird's out as he awaited his command. The young man had sparred against his elder brother but this was to be his first official battle. Baird took a trembling step back as the ghost poke'mon made his attack- a stat booster. For the moment it seemed he was frozen both in thought and body.
Rylis called out, a sharp bleat sound. The boy snapped his eyes forward and issued his command.
"Signal beam!"
Whipping back around to his opponent, Rylis gathered his energy and surged it back towards the orb in his tail. The stripes along his body blazed as the attack flowed from his body down to the orb. An eruption of light blazed forward, sending a wave of loose grass up into the air. [Move Used in This Post: Signal Beam (ATK)] [ Moves Used Thus Far: Signal Beam] [ HP: 900/900] Signal Beam [Bug] - OPTION 1: Roll one 6-sided dice. 1=miss, 2-5=100 damage, 6 = critical hit. OPTION 2: Roll two 4-sided dice in order to try to confuse your opponent's pokemon. First dice determines if it hits or not; 1-2 = miss, 3-4 = hit. Second dice determines how long the condition lasts, 1 = 1 turn, 2 = 2 turns, etc. (count only your opponent's turns for the countdown)

The light blew past the tendrils before slamming into Mephistopheles. He quickly shook it off, sending the tendrils racing for Rylis. They lashed out wildly, whipping about in random fashion.

The flaaffy narrowed his eyes and tensed, his eyes focused on the dark tendrils surging his way. At the very last moment he leapt upwards and outwards. With a command from his trainer, the stripes along his tail and ears ignited once more. An arch of electricity built up between his forelimbs and with a thrust downwards, he sent a thunderbolt cracking down towards his opponent. [ Move Used in This Post: Thunderbolt (ATK)] [ Moves Used Thus Far: Signal Beam, thunderbolt] [ HP: 900/900] OPTION 1: Roll one 6-sided dice. 1=miss, 2-5=100 damage, 6 = critical hit. The lighting stuck Mephistopheles, and electricity coursed through his limbs. The tendrils continued attacking the sheep pokemon.

Rylis felt a sharp pain rip along the side of his flanks. Dropping to the ground he gathered himself up and sent another bolt of lightning outwards. Behind him his trainer gasped, eyes going wide. Damn it all, he had to stiffen his backbone a bit if they were going to go through with this...

Another volley of electricity shot through Mephistopheles. The tendrils continued their barrage upon the flaafy.

Another exchange of blows, each taking down the other in a rough long-ranged fire. Swearing mentally, the flaaffy bit back any outward expressions of discomfort and threw a look back to his trainer. The same attack was commanded of him and he followed through with yet another thunderbolt. Lightning tore from his forelimbs and across the grassy terrain. Small fragments of scorched earth tossed upwards in its wake.

Mephistopheles continued to weather the electric onslaught. He willed the tendrils to redouble their efforts. They complied, switching from simple thrashing into speedy stabbing.

Rylis bleated once more, this time out of pain rather than simple frustration. Baird's horrified gasp behind him spurred him forward. He couldn't lose... it would only unsettle the youth's resolve even further.
Drawing in a deep breath, he surged forward, rushing his opponent with antoher bolt of lightning.

Mephistopheles quickly phased out of the way of the lightning. Flying to the side, he phased back in, an orb of shadow forming between his hands. He launched it at the tendrils, who quickly tossed it between themselves to have it build up speed before launching it at the flaafy.
