Physical Description: Small of stature, Aine’s slim build is well proportioned between torso and legs but possesses long toned muscles hidden just below her milk and honey skin. Because of her fit physic she has almost no chest and a firm posterior reminiscent of an Olympic gymnast, yet she still holds her feminine curves. Easily seen as cute, Aine’s face is soft with a small nose and marginally thin lips. Her large eyes are bright emerald in color and surrounded by a thick lacing of coal lashes. Framing her entire face is her strangely cut ebony locks, with her bangs hanging long enough to brush the underside of her nose and messy forelocks that reach down to her chest, while the back of her hair stands at attention in soft, short spikes. Also, she sports a hideous scar just below her left shoulder, a remnant from nearly losing her arm as a child. Finally her last two distinguishing features are her blunt and naturally black nails, and the tattoo of a single Narcissus flower on the front of her left hip.

Clothing for Aine typically consists of a Shihakushou, specifically sleeveless. Beneath the top layers she puts on a short sleeved red hoodie, the hood meticulously pulled out and arranged so no crease lines can be seen beneath the outer layers. Aine also forgoes the traditional obi in favor of a white studded belt riding low on her hips, and beneath her hakama are a set of knee high chunk heeled converse lacers, in red to match her hoodie. The few final adornments are a set of simple white earbuds plugged into her preferred music player for that day.

Casual clothing tends towards a red deep V blouse covered by a small black under-bust leather vest with distinct red stitching over the bodice. A small black pleated skirt comes next and cream colored thigh highs that are covered to the knee by slick black boots tied to the top with deep red laces. Additionally she wears a myriad of hair clips to keep her bangs out of her eyes. They range from huge clips to the micro clips in white, red, gold and white.



Personality: A genuinely kind woman, Aine in inquisitive and intuitive with a great love of learning engaged since her first day at the Academy. She is fiercely protective of her friends, especially Fefnir after the events that cause their change. Games of wit are her entertainment and in particular she loves subtly manipulating others through wordplay and carefully choreographed actions. Contrary to her fighting prowess Aine doesn’t like engaging in battle unless necessary and only takes part in practice spars for fun or for truly honing her skills. However, this is not how she appears to an observer. Since her days as a Shinigami and solidifying to a terrifying extent after becoming a Vizard, Aine has rendered herself an extreme introvert. She internalizes all of her feelings. But, she does not act the part, she doesn’t distance herself from others. Aine rather puts on an act, one that is so perfected over time that it is impossible to see through her applied disguise. To an observer Aine is a snarky, witty witch of a person who enjoys antagonizing others and generally making a nuisance of herself.


Likes: Cool nights, sitting on roofs, reading, heckling strangers, fuzzy animals, brushing long hair, mangos, mango mochi, singing, playing music, being very warm while sleeping, and giant tiger plushies.

Dislikes: Humid days, being stuck inside somewhere, pretentious know-it-alls, those with no common sense, brushing her own hair, ready packaged food, paperwork, and off key singing.

Biography: “I seriously can’t believe you’re ask’in me to tell this story, but I s’pose it’s requited…” Fidgeting in the chair provided to her, Aine sighed before continuing. “S’ far as I know, I was born as Yoshikawa Michiko in Okinawa one-hundred and twelve years ago. I can only assume from what I’ve been told, but I died in’a cross country bus trip. The vehicle was reported ta have been forced off a highway and crashed in the bamboo forest below. After that’s when I actually start remembering anything, n’ what I can is jumbled.”

I recall that I wandered the streets of North Rukongai No. 65, staring at the degenerates all around before ending at the fringes of’a forest. It was dark there n’ I liked it; it was also the first time I heard whisperings from my zanpakutou. I was too stupid to realize what it was then, but the whisperings called me in’ta the forest and the shade it provided. From there it gets kinda fuzzy for me; I found a place ta reside in out there but the next instance I clearly remember is watch’in a band of gang members assaulting other residents n’ sparing with boken.” Pausing, a soft smile of remembrance drew her lips upwards. “I stole one of their boken and carted it back to the forest and began practicing, always guided by that baritone whisper on the forms I should try.”

After about two years, I realized the small blossoming of reiatsu I had and I took’ta learning how to control the pressure with An-ei’s brilliant, if not unknown at the time, guidance. But the first thing I was forced ta do was steal, resort ta thievery to sustain my growing hunger and spiritual development. So, use’in the few skills I’d been honing I went about procuring food, sometimes clothing. Nothing large enough that It’d be missed, yet the only time I’d ventured out was in the dead of night. Blame it on my zanpakutou but it was comforting to but under the blackened sky, still is. I would spend days on end hold up in the forest practicing with the boken or run’in through the underbrush. An-ei urged me to gain speed, increase my stamina so that I wouldn’t be caught, wouldn’t be killed.”

From there it’s all a but’a blur other than the realization that I could force my reiatsu to create sound, but I remembered run’in through those days like it was an endless summer. An-ei spoke with me, I learned from his instruction and our bond grew deeper with each successful increase of skill. The only other thing I remember clear is get’in run over by’a red haired kid one night.” Aine winked there, but didn’t stop in her story.

“Fourty-three years exactly since I’d entered Soul Society; I was caught during a raid late one night. I’d grown since then, appearing ta be about sixteen years of age or so. The family I decided ta raid it seemed had taken the time ta learn my methods of break’in in, I can’t say I was incredibly intelligent then and it was a mistake ta have traversed all the way ta the first district just ta find what I was look’in for. Then again, I guess I was be’in a little greedy at the time. To make things short, I was caught by the men of the house and imprisoned in the basement then reported to the Seireitei as a threat to Soul Society. Hardly a fair ruling, but the family was enraged.”

From there it gets sketchy again for me, I remember huddling there with my knees tucked ta my chest and sobbing uncontrollably. You have ta understand I’d never been confined before other then by my own doing and being disarmed and unable to escape had made me mentally break down. Next thing I knew there was’a pair of night cooled arms around me and a complete lack of light. It made me feel secure and whole, letting me rest. Later I learned that during the night the main house filled with’a black effervescences that literally pushed the residents out. I s’pose that was the first unleashing of my reiatsu as’a whole. Because of the effect the Squad who’d been informed arrived post haste with two skilled members who pushed in and drug me out between them. Soon’s they touched me the darkness abated and I went completely limp. After some careful review and consideration I was thrown directly in’ta the Academy. They didn’t want any more slip ups with me and my uncontrolled reiatsu.”

I spent’a total of four years there, the minimum required, and graduated with honors in Zanjustu. Dur’in my stay though I have ta say it was a version of hell I’d rather not relive again. My first day there my name was mispronounced because being the genius I was then, I hadn’t been clear on how to string kanji together. Suffice to say I was tormented for it, n’ my looks didn’t help much. At every turn I was mistaken for a young boy with my short cut hair by both students and faculty alike. Though during those classes I became so familiar with An-ei he was at the cusp of giving me his name, and I perfected my skills with the sword n’ was well on my way ta mastering Hohou. Walking in the air came naturally, then it was only a matter of carefully controlling my reiatsu before Shunpo was’a possibility.”

Pausing, a bright grin split her lips as she leaned back into her seat. “Now, ya remember that red haired kid who ran me over in the Rukongai, well we met again in my first year at the Academy, he just happened to be one Fefnir Kamashiro. It was about three months after orientation n’ getting settled into classes before we met, but I’d seen’im in my Zanjutsu courses. I was in the honors classes for it n’all. Anyways, I was late to class one morning, and book’in it down the hall I turned a corner and bowled right into’im. It was a hard hit too; I was stunned from the impact for’a minute before realizing he was sprawled on the floor. Ta say the least, I was so nervous, shy and concerned I couldn’t decide if I should stay or run away. Sufficed to say, I stood there scrunched against the wall as he got to his feet, hands clenched to the front of my uniform…which had been switched ta the male uniform as a prank by a group of other students. N’ ya know what, I squeaked an apology and he said ‘Wouldn’t have guessed you were a girl.’ That’s how our mutual acquaintanceship began.”

The days went slowly in the Academy, and we waved a li’l hello once in a while along with being assigned ta a few of the same missions here and there. I really only noticed he’d graduated when I came back for my final year. Ta say the least it made me feel kind’a lonely, other than a few teachers he was the only person I’d ever exchanged conversation with. At the conclusion of my final year, I graduated with honors in Zanjutsu n’ was accepted into the ranks of the Thirteenth Division. I spent a good five years in their capable hands, and when I was named Ninth Seat there, An-ei gave me his name. He’d been waiting until just the right time, until I wasn’t so shy ta hand over his powers. At the end of my five years there, I was approached by’a representative of the Second Division. The current Ninth Seat there had unfortunately be killed in action and I was ta be transferred ta the spot post haste at the urgings of my current Captain.”

Zanpakutou Information



Zanpakutou Name: 暗影 Kuraiei (Darkest Shadow), alternatively addressed as An-ei

Attribute: Elemental - Darkness

Weapon Type: Nodachi


Sealed Appearance: A Nodachi, Kuraiei stands out as seemingly too large for Aine. The blade when sheathed is rather understated; the saya is a standard black lacquer and anchored to Aine’s back by a red chord. The visible tsuka is gold and in the shape of a concave triangle with delicate cutouts to the point of appearing frail. The tsuba is wrapped in deep red and kashiri a matching gold. When drawn the three foot blade is a uniform black, unrelieved even at the sharpened ha.


Inner World: Entrenched in late evening twilight, Aine’s inner world is a perpetually silent plain of existence. There are no discernible land marks, but an optical illusion greats whomever enters. An ankle deep layer of water covers the ground, undisturbed by Aine’s footfalls and reflects a star studded sky above to give the feeling of falling forward into the atmosphere. The two skies represent the duality of her nature and the weather of the sky only changes during times Aine allows strong internal emotion to be seen in her outward expression.

Her zanpakutou spirit cannot be found without Aine in this world, his form is her shadow and reflected upon her entry. He cannot rise from his two dimensional projection without severe pain, but often endures the discomfort for sparring or when she seeks refuge during her weakest moments. When An-ei rises, his form stills, the effervescence of his misty form sticks to him like rain drenched clothing, defining his frame and making him seem drastically smaller.



Zanpakutou Spirit: Literally Aine’s shadow, Kuraiei exists as a perpetually moving form, reflecting his place on the water’s surface and undulating as if trapped in a slow moving current. He stands at 6’7” with a form reminiscent of knee length hair and a long coat silhouette. His face and hands appear disembodied on him as they glow an alabaster white while his eyes, drawn thin with disdain, are amethyst in color.

An oddity among Zanpakutou, Kuraiei is not a piece of Aine’s soul. Although birthed from her he is his own autonomous entity. Nothing metaphysical binds him to her and if he were to strike up the whim, he could leave whenever he so choose but is highly unlikely. An-ei has an unhealthy fixation on Aine, a form of possessive love that drives him to protect her with fervor. Conversely, he does not disobey her. A push over of a spirit, if Aine gets mad at him, as she’s apt to do when he leaves the Inner World to go gallivanting, he puffs up and blusters before slinking off to sulk after a scolding. An-ei absolutely detests men, he does not like them near Aine or romantically inclined towards her or even remotely friendly. In these instances he can be quite conniving, sneaking off to threaten them away. As An-ei is Aine’s shadow, he embodies much of what she isn’t. He is extroverted and wears his emotions on his sleeve.



Shikai



Release Phrase: Mugen no yoru ni tasshite, (Reach into the endless night) Kuraiei


Boosts:This release is fairly low in power, however mobility, reiatsu and offense are increased. Most notably her speed is the highest boost she receives.


Description:

  • Zanpakutou Changes: The transition from sealed form to Shikai is exceptionally understated. The blade merely shifts with a sparse covering of motion from her black reiatsu for the second or so the process takes. No fanfare is held.

    Reduced in size form a nodachi to a typical length katana, Kuraiei is an amalgam of form between a katana, scimitar and tsurugi. Lacking a tsuba, the hibiki stretches halfway up the back of the blade in an uninterrupted gold line. The blade itself gains a more pronounced curve then the traditional katana and widens as it moves away from the tsuka, which remains wrapped in red. At the tip of the blade the metal runs back over the mune in a vicious hook, sharp along its inner edge and creating a second cutting edge flowing up to half of the still exposed mune. At the end of the tsuka a metal ring forms through the kashira and a long red shred of fabric loops over the ring.

    Besides the main body of the blade, eight separate daggers are also conjured. Again, they are just as much part of Kuraiei’s release as the main body. The eight daggers are eight inches long with five inch straight double sided blades in black. Unlike the main blade the wrappings on the simple hand holds are in black. These daggers appear hidden beneath the voluminous legs of her hakama, four on each leg and easily accessible.



Techniques:

薄明毒液 Hakumei Dokueki - Twilight Venom

  • Description: An-ei is a zanpakutou with a base in precision. As Aine has a lower amount of strength and is smaller in size than most of the opponents she has to face, precision in striking an opponent is key to her fighting style. Hakumei Dokueki is a close range piercing attack. By charging Kuraiei with reiatsu, Aine can manipulate a single or multiple points on the blade to produce fast striking barbs, only about six at a time. The closer the range the fiercer the attack is, as these barbs, if still connected to the blade, pierce a part of the body, a powerful numbing muscle relaxant is injected causing the affected area to fall limp. The poison doesn’t stay in the system for long, only staying in the muscle group it was injected into and quickly degenerating over a few minutes at most. The barbs can also be fired a few at a time, about six just like before, but are completely devoid of poison. (For clarification, the venom generated in this attack is reiatsu based, carrying Aine’s unique reiatsu signature which gives the poison a high resistance to extreme heat.)

    (Clarification: If you allow your character to be struck by Aine's sword the area cut will be effected by this venom. For example, if you are struck in the neck, your neck will go numb and fall limp. Your head will flop around. If you are hit in the thigh, it will go limp and won't be able to support weight, making it difficult to move with that leg.)

影剔 Eideki - Shadow Cutting

  • Description: A passive technique, just like it sounds this is the ability to cut shadows and subsequently cut the object that cast the shadow. (For instance, if a tree were casting a shadow towards Aine and her opponent was standing near the tree. Aine could cut the shadow and make the tree fall onto the opponent or something similar) The limitations of Eideki are proportional to Aine’s reiatsu exertion. She can cut others through this technique, but must increase the output of reiatsu to effect opponents who are intrinsically stronger than her. The same can be said for cutting materials like metal, crystal or resistant synthetic materials. If she can’t cut it normally or with the addition of reiatsu, she can’t cut the object using Eideki.

擱座影像 Kakuzaeizou - Stranded Silhouette

  • Description: The ability to pin a shadow in place with the use of Aine’s eight daggers, Kakuzaeizou effects are determined by what is being pinned. If an opponent’s shadow is pinned by a dagger they are then limited to movement in a radius of the length of their shadow. Mobility isn’t hampered by any other degree; just the distance they can travel in a radius after the shadow is pinned. For things like inanimate objects, say a building or tree, Aine can pin their shadows as well. She can then use Eideki to cut the shadow of the object, but if the shadow is already pinned the object will not topple until the dagger is removed from the shadow.

    (Clarification: Imagine your character is a dog on a leash when your shadow is pinned. You can run to the end of the lease and bark, but you can't get off the leash until the duration time ends. The length of your shadow determines how far you can move in a radius around where your shadow is pinned.)

  • Duration: Non-Applicable to the inanimate. Opponents shadows are pinned for three turns before Aine's daggers can be removed. Must be removed before shadow is unpinned, can be removed by opponent after turns have passed.

闇人形使い Onningyoutsukai - Dark Puppeteer

  • Description:The ability to control shadows at a whim, Onningyoutsukai has two distinct uses. Generally, it is the control of shadows. Aine can grab, move, contract and expand shadows whenever she pleases. The ability is rather passive in this state and not difficult to use in battle. The secondary component to Onningyoutsukai is a bit more taxing. Aine takes control of her opponent(s) shadow and animates them. The animated shadows are more distraction than true offense. They are corporeal and can cause harm depending on the opponent’s weapon, but they can be destroyed with relatively few physical strikes. Metaphysical attacks such as elements are much less effective. When controlling these shadows Aine continues attacking as per the norm, but refrains from using other techniques unless absolutely necessary until they shadows have been returned to normal.

    (Clarification: These are animated shadows. Aine does nothing but animate the shadows for use in battle. The process of animating a shadow does nothing physically or metaphysically to the opponent. Only after they are animated can they cause physical damage.)

  • Power Level: Treat the attack power of these shadows as a requirement of 80+ in defense to defend against. Treat their speed as 90+ in agility needed to avoid them.



Bankai



Bankai Name: 沖天暗影 Okiten Kuraiei (Raising Heaven's Darkest Shadow)

Boosts: Compared to Shikai, Bankai is a geometric increase in mobility, offense, defense and reiatsu for Aine. Speed is yet again emphasized by the small size of her Bankai while her reiatsu is maximized similarly.


Description:

  • Zanpakutō Changes: An-ei returns to its original Nodachi length, but in this form instead of curving like traditional katana, the blade remains completely straight. The Mune at the end of the blade stops abruptly and turns downwards at the Hamon, both still black, the Hamon itself continuing on for a few more inches until forming the Kissaki and then cutting downwards. Following the Hamon back to the Tsuka, the blade becomes thinner than at the tip. Before coming to where the Habiki would be the Hamon curves down slightly and then turns back up. The Habiki and Tsuba are completely forgotten, the blade turning straight into the Tsuka. The Tsukamaki is yet again still dark red, the Same are now black and the Kashira is black as well. On the slight point at the base of the blade near the Tsuka is a very slim black gem that fills a round portion of the area. Another larger gem sits just right of where the Mune falls towards the Hamon. The Shinogi is a ¼ inch thick dark red gash running the length of the blade about a ½ from the back of the blade. Near the gem next to the Tsuka the Shinogi forms three small diamonds about ¼ inch apart.

  • Appearance Changes: Aine’s Bankai release is in no way spectacular, in fact, it’s rather sedate. When she calls the release, her body is swathed in her black reiatsu for the half second it takes for the blade to shift to its new form. Afterwards, Aine is revealed as the field around her begins to darken, allowing the shadows in the area to spread and blend together. If she happens to be wearing a shihakushou, after she’s revealed her kosode and undershirt are missing, replace by a deep red wrapping just over her chest, and a skin tight black fabric that circles her neck, falls over the top of her shoulders and surrounds her upper arms. If Aine is not in a shihakushou, an ethereal tailed coat forms from her reiatsu and roils from her back and shoulders like thick smoke before dissipating at the ends of the tails. To make it perfectly clear, Aine’s Bankai transition takes less than a second to complete, allowing her to continue fighting without pause.



Techniques:

天井天下 Tenjou Tenge - Heaven’s Wrath

  • Description:This is a single shot attack and the most powerful in Aine's arsenal. To begin the attack Aine has to charge spots or objects on the ground with pockets of her reiatsu. Once she has at least three places suitably charged she then has to lure the opponent into the triangular field and herd them there in one way or another. To activate those charged pockets on the ground, Aine has to release a wave of reiatsu downwards from above the opponent. This triggers the stored reiatsu which then burst upwards in the form of three black lightening strikes. They are nearly instantaneous and are extremely difficult to avoid. To think of how the attack really work, think of how lightening forms with negative and positively charged ions in the air and in the ground.

    Aine will often use her set of daggers to help set up the reiatsu pockets.

悪血の哀歌 Akuchi no Aika - Lament of Impure Blood

  • Description: An attack occasionally reserved for later in battle, when Aine has been bloodied from battle, any amount of blood even just from a scratch, she can imbue her voice with reiatsu and call the blood that has spilt from her body. The blood turns black and she is able to manipulate this blood by mind, voice and hand movements, each consecutively better for controlling the technique. With the blood she is able to form shields, whip like blades and needles, making the technique versatile for both offense and defense. The attack structure is very simple, so it lasts as long as she is able to control her reiatsu or until she’s so run down that she’s nearly let go of all her reiatsu. Additionally, because of the bond between her and Fefnir, Akuchi no Aika also effects the blood spilt from his body.

    (Clarification: This is both an attack and a defense. Think of it like Senbonzakura, it can be used to actually cause damage and effectively shield. The use of Fefnir's blood, the blood that becomes a difficult to remove gel that is on fire, is more powerful than her own. His blood is hot, it will burn and cause burn damage if you are struck by it. It will continue to cause minor damage unless you successfully remove it or defend against getting it on you.)

神祐 Shinyuu - Heavenly Protection

  • Description: A high level protection and locomotion technique, Shinyuu literally renders Aine from a three dimensional being to two dimensional when she sinks into shadow. Because of this transition, while submerged she cannot be struck unless by a two dimensional ability. However, she cannot stay within shadows like this for long without being badly drained. Typically this is used defensively or to escape battle as she can travel for at least a half mile before needing to resurface.

    (Clarification: Please note it is very difficult to find Aine's presence when this technique is in use. She hides her reiatsu well when in use. Light only pushes shadows back, it does not destroy them, rather it propels her away while in the shadow.)

Hollowfication Information



Inner Hollow: A saccharine she-devil, Aine’s Inner Hollow seems the picture of offensively polite and peppy at first glance. Beneath the sugary exterior, she is aggressive and volatilely malicious and emotionally extroverted. A whitewashed mirror image of Aine physically, she absolutely does not depend on swordsmanship as Aine does. She excels where her counterpart does not and displays undisciplined hand-to-hand combat as her preferred style of fighting; her movements are powerful and she plays the smiling juggernaut well.

As a reflection of Aine, she can be found in the reflection of the moon in Aine’s Inner World. Where An-ei is her shadow, her Inner Hollow is intern a reflection of refracted light to be further contrary to Aine’s dark element.



Mask: Styled after the visor of western knight helm, Aine’s mask literally is a visor as compared to a full facial covering. The visor arches over her brow and to the base of her nose and runs back to ears. A distinct line marks the center of the mask vertically and another runs horizontally from where the tip of her nose would be to her ear. Six symmetrical slits run vertically over the eyes, gradually becoming smaller as they reach towards her ears. Above the horizontal cut of the mask before both ears is what appears to be a bolt. Finally at the right side of the visor are three long chords in black. The mask material itself is also black and is at times indistinguishable from her black hair.

Boosts: A relative boost to all attributes, focusing on speed, reiatsu, endurance and an extreme boost in regenerative healing.

Additionally she gains a rather strong resistance to fire, inherited from Fefnir and the connection between them.

血接合剤 Chisetsugozui - Bloody Adhesive

  • Description: A byproduct of pulling on her mask, Aine's body produces a metabolic glue. The glands that produce the thick black liquid are just beneath the skin, around the organs and surrounding blood vessels. This glue stops most projectiles from piercing further than a half inch to an inch into her body and push out physical projectile after a few minutes. Cuts are also gummed up by this and prevents blood loss. The metabolic glue will attach itself to weapons that pierce her body and continues to function as a powerful adhesive. The adhesive will adhere to nearly anything other than Aine and Fefnir, or objects with their reiatsu signature.

    (Clarification: This isn't a great defense against concussive force, crushing or many elemental abilities, but slashes, cuts and puncture wounds are rather ineffective on Aine when masked. For example, she could be shot, she would be effected by the concussive force of the impact but the actual projectile wouldn't pierce far into her body.

    Aine is hard to induce the effects of blood loss on when masked unless she cuts herself with her own blades.)

移光 Ikou - Changed Light

  • Description: Darkness is always before light and in truth what drives this technique. Selective areas of the body are blacked out, warping the light around the form and rending the body nearly invisible to the naked eye. In daylight a wavering, much like an understated heat mirage can be seen but in the shade or within a muting condition such as smoke or fog, Aine is rendered essentially invisible.

    This ability is transferable to Fefnir as well, but only when he and Aine are masked. They both cannot use the technique at the same time, but their connection to one another allows for the transfer.

狙撃兵 Sogekihei - Sharpshooter

  • Description: A two part technique; Aine's mask, a visor in design, imparts her with the ability to see at great distances. She can zoom in and zoom out her vision from up to five miles away. The second part of this techniqe allows Aine's eyes to be directly connected to Fefnir's. Basically they can share sight, one directing the other by overlapping their fields of vision. This secondary part of the technique can only be used when both Aine and Fefnir are masked and is a shared sight between them.

曳火弾 Eikandan - Tracer Round

  • Description: A sniping technique, Aine inverts her sword to rest the back against the space between thumb and forefinger of her opposite hand. From this position reiatsu generated protrusions form into the shape of a crossbow and in combination with Sogekihei generates a highly accurate platform for the attack. The technique creates an extremely concentrated black bolt of energy that remains in place on Aine’s makeshift crossbow until the mental signal to fire is given. Although powerful, Aine and the generation of the technique are very difficult to sense, and near impossible when Fefnir is also masked. (See his profile for details) When fired the tiny bolt flies fast, has high piercing ability and bends around curves and on impact with a target acts like a hollow point bullet, creating a small entry hole, expanding and creating a massive and bone shattering exit wound. However that is not the only extent of the attack. If the projectile is sensed by an opponent it will lock onto their reiatsu signature and hone in on them, hence the name Tracer Round. The round is not easily deflected, it can sense were the original reiatsu signature is coming from, has tight banking and a tight turn radius that allows it to follow an opponent easily

Kidou:Very few, although Aine is extremely adept at sensing and controlling her reiatsu, worded spells are her downfall. She is capable of worded spells but they often produced the wrong effect or simply backfire in some way. She has experimented with every Kidou she could get her hands on and has found through trial and error that those with absolutely no incantation, such as Shunkou and Hanki are not beyond her skills what so ever.

  • Shunkou 瞬閧 - Flash Cry: Seemingly an oxymoron with her inability to use Kidou as a whole, Aine is more than versed in the use of Shunkou. Because there is no worded spell and she isn’t forced to convert her reiatsu in an asinine way, she’s able to use the raw energy much more effectively. However, she still is not strong physically and is not a heavy practitioner of Hakuda. She rarely uses the skill because of this, but has been known to use Shunkou in tandem with her Zanjutsu.

  • Hanki 反鬼 - Reverse Demon: An ability which nullifies an opponent's Kidō by hitting it with another one of perfectly opposite speed and energy. The ability can even neutralize an opponent's movements. Again, no need for an incantation of any kind breaks away Aine's inability at Kidou.



Skills:

  • Zanjutsu Mastery: The first of two high points of skill, Aine prides herself in sword arts. She endlessly trains to continue perfecting the use of blades and uses her knowledge of the sword to make up for her stark lack of physical strength.

  • Hohou Mastery: The second of two high points of skill, the second part of Aine's preferred technique is the use of immense speed. Yet another defense and area she has improved to make up for lack of physical strength.



Abilities:

Shinzou 心像 - Mental Imaging:

  • Description: Besides her skills, an ability that Aine has perfected over time is the ability to read large amounts of individual reishi, interpreting the way they are displaced and using it to read movement around her. In the past she learned early on that she had reiatsu and with that reiatsu she could push and pull the air to produce small rasping sounds. With practice, she was able to create symphonies from what little musical instruments she’d heard, but a side effect of such skill was the awareness of the reishi in the air, and extremely fine control and understanding of her own reiatsu. In the Academy is where she put this awareness to good use, although it caused her to pass out countless times from the sheer volume of information assaulting her senses at once, yet it came in especially handy for detecting those using Shunpo or other types of fast movement. Even after graduating she continued to hone the ability and overcame her fainting spells. Now her reishi sense is one of her greatest assets, but she can be overloaded if she’s forced to track five or more targets at once. Other draw backs include the distance she can sense at, only about 15 meters at max and with extreme concentration. So, typically she will reduce the area of sensing down to four feet or less. Think of it as a spiddy sense, she can feel movements coming at her, but may not be able to evade them.

    (Just a little back story: This technique began to develop by manipulating reishi to produce sound. She can in fact still produce sound in the same manner since the inception of this technique. Aine is quite good at it and likes on occasion to use extremely loud kiai in battle. She uses the sound production on a daily basis, it is not difficult for her even in battle because Shinzou takes far more concentration.

    tl;dr - Aine can easily produce very loud and continuous sounds because that was how Shinzou developed. From the reishi producing sound to an awareness of reishi and displacement of reishi around her.)

Shunpo 瞬歩 - Flash Step:

  • Description: Ever since she was a child, Aine has had an unusual affinity towards fast movement. Shunpo was only natural to her and she pushes the limits of the higher speeds of the movement. She’s never been strong, so she traded away the majority of her physical strength to focus solely on her speed, flexibility and agility. That being said, her speed can still use improvement and refinement. Aine is never happy with her last set goal, her will forces her to continue to push her limits and ever increase her speed.

Shukuchi 縮地 - Reduced Earth:

  • Description: Learned from years of training and battle with Fefnir, Shukuchi functions similarly for Aine. Reiatsu is wrapped around the feet and used in a sprint and is marked by the fact that reiatsu spikes greatly when in use. Extreme speed and maneuverability are produced with Shukuchi and the movement typically exceeds the speeds attainable with Shunpo. Unlike Fefnir, Aine has learned to mitigate the damaging effects of True Shukuchi through careful reiatsu manipulation and very little use of the technique. She pushes herself to use the first three Steps of Shukuchi or Shunpo and continue improving her maneuverability and speed.

    There are 4 levels of speed, measured in steps:

    3 steps- Slowest of the steps, Aine's body is almost transparent. Foot shaped divots appear where she steps, and the reiatsu is clearly visible.

    2 Steps- Second slowest of the steps, Aine is almost invisible and only the gleam of her zanpakutou can be easily seen. Rounded places where the ground has shattered mark every step. No reiatsu can be seen.

    1 Step- Second fastest of the steps, Aine is completely invisible to the untrained eye. Skilled swordsmen can still read her attacks. The shattered places in the ground are wider and deeper, but are hard to distinguish from the 2 Step indentations. No reiatsu is visible.

    True Shukuchi- The fastest she can possibly travel, Aine is gone almost before the opponent can realize it. It is nearly impossible to see, much less predict or parry, any attack launched. There are no marks left after Aine's steps. This is about 7.50 times the speed of a normal shunpo.

Setsugankyou Shukuchi 接眼鏡縮地 - Ocular Reduced Earth:

  • Description: A miniscule amount of reiatsu is used to make Aine's eyes more active and was learned from Fefir after long years of working with him. It also aids the fast moving Shukuchi ability by allowing faster reaction times necessary for consistent high speed movement. This is characterized by the appearance of a light blue sheen to Aine's pupils. Aine has little trouble with the ability, although since she requires reading glasses, her eyes can become strained and irritated if used for a long period of time. Due to the nature of this ability, it also provides the ability to see minor reiatsu/reishi effects, such as enchantments on objects or passive abilities, as a light blue glow indiscriminate of elemental affinity.

Senda 閃打 - Flash Strike:

  • Description: Senda is a technique created by Aine and Fefnir through trial and error under her attempt to emulate Shunpo through her arms. With her exceptionally fine control and understanding of her own reiatsu, she postulated that similarly to forming a reiatsu based springboard against the foot to enter Shunpo, she could do the same platform building with her hands. After a few painfully sprained wrists she found the correct amount of reiatsu to gather about her hands and all the way up to her shoulders. The coating both supports her arms from hard impacts and collapsing while pushing off or landing, but also restricts the movement of her fingers due to the pressure exerted on her hands from the coating. Those pressures, if left unmanaged through missing concentration, can slip and literally shred her skin and cut deep enough to sever tendons and scar muscle tissues. To help prevent that, Aine is constantly aware of where her hands land while using Senda. She has to make contact with the palm of her hand and no other parts of the hand or she risks crushing her fingers, breaking her hand or losing control of the reiatsu coating. Though, if done correctly instead of using her feet for all forms of propulsion, she can emulate the same speeds as her typical Shunpo with her arms.

Senda Kantsuu 閃打貫通 - Flash Strike: Pierce:

  • Description: The singular Senda technique that conforms to Aine’s specific reiatsu structure. Senda Kantsuu is geared towards focusing the reiatsu encompassing the hand into a fine point at the end her fingertips or before the knuckles. The technique was highly influenced by her Zanpakutou, forcing the attack to become an accurate and piercing strike. The technique isn’t particularly effective against normal armors, but can pierce through reishi or reiatsu based protections if Aine has proportionally similar reiatsu levels as her opponent, or if she expends a high enough amount to match or overpower the opponent for a split second. This attack is particularly difficult to avoid since Aine tends to use it in close quarters. The coating of reiatsu on her arm collects and travels down her arm to propel it, without making contact with a surface, at Shunpo speeds. The rapidly collecting reiatsu effectively blasts the piercing point forward to stab at the target, the release is usually far too quick to avoid at close range and especially if she times it with typical Shunpo to add additional momentum to the strike. The downside of Senda Kantsuu is that after each use, Aine has to avoid using the technique for at least a minute since the pressures around her hand, if allowed to stay in place, will crush the appendage no matter what. Considering that she’s predominately right handed, she can’t afford the loss of her hand since her skill sets are highly dependent on swordsmanship and almost nothing else.

Jigokuchou Affinity: An oddity restricted to Aine is that she inexplicably attracts Jigokuchou. The little messengers flock to her like their insect cousins do to flowers and through contact with them Aine has become very adept at communicating through them and traversing Senkaimon. She can in fact repulse them when necessary.

Naming Conventions:The title of Scathach of Albion originates from a Celtic goddess of healing, magic, fighting arts and prophecy. Known additionally as The Shadowy One, She Who Strikes Fear and the Dark Goddess, she was a warrior woman prophetess of Albion. Name variants include; Scota, Scatha & Scath.

The title of Aine of Knockaine originates from the Celtic goddess of love, fertility and the moon. Aine was also later named the Queen of Faery. The Cathair Aine was a related relic, a rock that when sat on had the danger of causing one to lose their wits, while sitting three or more times held the possibility of losing them forever. Aine was also very revengeful and it was dangerous to offend her.

The joke of the use of Aine of Knockaine as a title in jest simply results from the name being identical to Aine’s actual given name.


Sing for me!: A gifted vocalist, Aine may have a naturally doll like speaking voice but her range when singing encompasses three octaves. She enjoys adding little songs to common everyday activities and belting out in full volume at the oddest times. Singing is joyous and relaxing and heavily entrenched in her life.


Secret Information

The following information is not only known to Aine, but to Fefnir as well. Once revealed to a character information spread will be available by word of mouth in roleplay.


Vocal Mimicry: Part of her musical skill with the precursor to Shinzou, Aine is able to throw her voice and if she hears a voice enough times will be able to mimic it. Simple phrases by a specific voice are easily picked up, but full vocal ranges are difficult for her to master without constant contact with the owner of the voice.

Resistance to Venom and Poisons: As a facet of her zanpakutou and intrinsically her own, Aine has an established high resistance to venom and poisons due to her use of venom in battle. The more exposure to a particular venom or poison the more tolerance she builds up.

Simply put, venom and poisons are much less effective against Aine. The effects they produce are lowered in her body and the more she is exposed to a poison or venom the less potent it will become when used on her. Extended exposure, especially when masked will eventually immunize her against a particular poison or venom, f.y.i, at least two to three battles before immunization occurs.


Missing History: Aine and Fefnir upon learning of their "infection" and what it was turning them into deserted Soul Society shortly after removing all documentation on them post Academy days. Their short tenure in the second division left them fairly unknown the the general population of Soul Society and lacking in true connections with anyone. Since leaving they've inhabited the Living World at their leisure.

Quick Overview For Reference

  • Aine reconnected with Fefnir in the Second Division
  • Both became antagonistic towards one another because they were pitted against each other for the same seated rank twice
  • After two years antagonism ended and both realized they could not best the other
  • Eventually became Co-Captains of the Second Division and Onmitsukidou
  • A short few years after Captaincy anomaly detected in Hueco Mundo, both sent to scout on a recon mission
  • Mission succeeded, anomaly found as a moving oasis producing a white mist
  • Both inadvertently inhaled this mist and began exhibiting symptoms of early Vizard transition
  • When the symptoms became to difficult to hide, both erased the known data about them and cut what few connections they had.
  • Left for the Living World.
  • Found by an older Vizard who tutored them in controlling what they were becoming
  • Spent then years in settled in America and recently returned to Japan and reside on the edge of the Karakura rural district


Communication: Because of the way both were turned, Aine and Fefnir are able to enter each others Inner World. They can communicate from a distance in this way but the shared ability is not used in battle or feasibly applicable to battle, especially for the individual engaged in fighting.
