The newly upgraded Super Senshi of Kindness was pretty excited about his upgrade within the Dark Mirror court. He was going to do everything he could to prove that he could live up to these new expectations, even if he had already been doing everything he could just to earn it in the first place. There was no slacking off, ever, no thinking he was better than what anyone asked him to do.
He was a willing and eager soldier, who would do anything to serve his team.
And now he felt it even more. He was stronger but his knowledge was still lacking. He really appreciated the help he got from Painite and from other Negaverse soldiers as well as from Remarque, Navi and the rest of the DMC. They were making him a better fighter, a more intelligent battler, and much more efficient in stealing energy.
But there was always more to learn, and he knew that. He was slow, clumsy. He needed more help with his strength and his skills. So he was keeping his eye out for other chaos auras while he was on patrol tonight, to see if maybe they would help him some as well. And of course, he was looking for energy to gather and for any white moon auras he would have to worry about.
There was also something else he needed to practice, that was kind of being lost under his eagerness to be stronger. His magic, the skills that went with his sphere. Kindness, which allowed him to heal those in need. He did not get much chance to do so, but then, he preferred it that way. It meant no one was getting hurt.

When the announcement had come that they were expected to partner with a dark mirror senshi for patrols it was safe to say that the pink and black haired captain hadn't been very please. He wasn't like many of the other negaverse agents though, he didn't mind his senshi allies but he was still wary of them and it probably stemmed from the idea that his mentor(and idol) didn't seem to particularly trust or like them.
Still it was an order and while the captain had always been a bit of a loner when it came to patrolling he figured he would make an effort to abide by the new guidelines. At least temporarily. It was worth a shot, right?
That being said Captain Labyrinthite was out on his own, perched upon his favorite rooftop waiting for something exciting to come his way. If he wasn't out actually patrolling so he wasn't breaking the new protocol's standards yet. Right? He was going to pretend he was in the right. Still the idea weighed heavy on his mind so when he felt the presence of one of his reluctant allies he practically leaped to his feet and took off toward the energy signature.
He didn't know how long he had been running nor how fast he had been moving when he came up on the senshi. "Hey," he said hesitantly. It felt weird.

"Hi!" Virtus said, almost before turning around to see who was saying hi to him. He smiled at the Negaverse Captain, though, once he did see him. What a cool look!
"I like your hair!"
He had no real filter for compliments. Most of the things he thought were positive and he often wanted to share those thoughts with the person they were about. He couldn't really help himself, as he didn't think it was strange to tell someone they were cool, or that something they had or were wearing or were doing was pretty awesome.
Didn't people like to hear that, anyway? Compliments were good.
"My name is Virtus! Did you need something?" He was always eager to help, and he assumed because the Captain was jogging up to him he needed something from the Senshi of Kindness. Who was, in turn, always ready and willing to help.

The chipper nature of the Dark Mirror Senshi caught the captain off-guard. The boy was certainly more upbeat than he had expected. More so than most of the people he encountered and briefly he wondered what kept him so cheery. He offered a weak smile in response unsure of how to proceed. Even less sure when Virtus followed with a compliment.
People always commented on his hair.
"Thank you," he replied after a beat, absentmindedly running his hand through his spiked locks. "You're quite...the chipper this evening," he offered as a weak compliment. Labyrinthite was off his game, his smooth-talking nature having taken to the back-burner. "Labyrinthite," he introduced himself with a firm nod of his head. "Captain Labyrinthite. It's, uh, nice to meet you." The last part of his sentence was a little forced. More so though than intended but he couldn't help himself.
He was still unsure and uncomfortable with the forced alliance.
"We're ordered to patrol together, since I know few...of the dark mirror I figured it would be best to meet up with the first one who's energy signature I felt," he explained himself, shrugging slightly like it was no big deal. It was no big deal, right?

It's very nice to meet you, Labyrinthite!" Virtus crooned. He was in a good mood tonight, but then, he was always in a good mood. Always. He was not one who knew how to be downbeat for too long, always searching for the bright side of things and sticking to that rather than lurking in doom and gloom.
Of course, living in one extreme often created new and strange challenges for himself and those around him. Most just didn't know how to take him. Of course, he didn't blame them for that and certainly didn't hold any ill will for it.
"Well! If you want to patrol I'm more than happy to! And if we get into a fight I can heal! I mean, I can try to fight too though I don't really like to but... if you needed to be healed I could do that!"
So his sales pitch needed a little work, but he was going forward with his plan to shift his role and focus more on healing and helping rather than hurting.

Virtus proved to be more chipper than Labyrinthite had expected him to be. There was very little about the dark mirror senshi that wasn't screaming cheerful and optimistic. An interesting attitude in the current times but intriguing none the less. If he had to pair with a dark mirror senshi, it might as well be one that seemed excited about it.
Even if he found it hard to fake a positive attitude about the whole arrangement.
"As long as the fight isn't with an eternal ranking senshi I'm sure we'll be fine," he assured the blonde, almost waving off his concern. At the mention of an ability to heal his attention was captured. "How extensive is your...healing magic?" He asked, his demeanor seeming to brighten.
Then his brow furrowed when the senshi mentioned that he didn't like to fight. "Why are you opposed to fighting?" As someone who had no aversion to sparring, dueling or any various of fighting it seemed abnormal. Fighting was second nature to the captain.

Virtus smiled brightly and then looked very eager.
"My magic is pretty good! I can heal small wounds without any trace, it can even close up cuts and make bruises vanish. And that was just my first level! I'm sure it can do much more now, though I need practice with it all, I think."
He was not ashamed about admitting that: he did need the practice and if he lied about it he would never get better. No one would offer to help him, either, and he knew that he needed other people to make himself stronger, so he could in turn defend them. Not just in his healing magic, but as a fighter that did not like to fight.
"Well, I think I prefer to heal, and doing damage is... really counter to that! I mean, I understand why it needs to be done and I will help whenever I need to and do my best, but I would prefer it if I didn't have to hurt anyone."

"Do you think it's only goes as far as flesh wounds?" He asked, rubbing his chin as he tried to evaluate the level in which his healing abilities were. "What affects your ability? The amount of concentration or is it all the same and only varies on the severity of the wound?" These probably weren't questions Virtus were used to but Labyrinthite was constantly trying to weigh things. To strip things down to the barest it could be and figure out the layers that made it work. "What was the worst wound you ever healed?" He paused to let things sit for a minute.
"Am I to assume you have exercised your ability with your new status?"
It gave the captain ideas in what the could do as part of their patrol. It could extend into a training sort of thing. Having a healing senshi on his side would be incredibly beneficial. He was an aggressive soldier, one who took his share of hits. "This is a war," he stated bluntly, off-put by his desire to avoid hurting someone. "They won't hesitate to hurt you, why would you hesitate? Do you simply lack experience?"
So many questions, so little time in between to answer.

"I think it can do more! The stronger I get, the better it will be. I'm pretty sure, anyway, though I could be wrong and wouldn't want to mislead anyone!" But he had been told as much, and he always believed people when they were trying to help him.
Of course, he never really knew when people weren't being wholly honest with him, so he was also very easy to trick and be taken advantage of.
But why would anyone ever do that?
"I haven't healed too much yet," he said thoughtfully, "just in the ambush, but I am always willing to try! I'm just glad that I don't have to, at least, in the sense that no one is getting hurt enough for me to need to. That's always a good thing, right!" Even if it meant no practice for him.
The last question made Virtus look a little confused.
"Well. I might lack the experience yes, but also... I understand why everyone needs to fight, and I don't blame them for it. I just don't feel like I need to do the same thing, and if someone attacks me I'll do my best not to fight back. Because if we're all fighting back, then that's all we're ever going to be doing. But if I need to, to help my friends and teammates, then I know I'll have to fight anyway."

He looked at Virtus skeptical, unsure of what to think of the chipper boy. He understood, to an extent, why he was unsure of how much he could do because he was inexperienced. What he had a hard time understanding is why the senshi hadn't sought out more experience. What was he waiting for? Someone to offer their help? To provide an opportunity in which he could learn?
Labyrinthite had never been good at asking for help, but he was decent at offering it. "In many cases, yes," he responded equally thoughtful. "But if no one gets hurt how are you going to be able to utilize your abilities? Especially if you don't fight. If no one is injured doesn't it make you...useless? Or even potentially a hindrance?" His mini-speech came out more negative than intended and when he realized that he frowned then made an attempt to make it sound better.
"I don't mean to say that you're useless because in reality having someone with the ability to heal is incredibly useful. What I mean to say is that you aren't reaching your full potential," he paused, brows furrowing. He sighed, hand running through his dual-colored locks. "Sorry," he told the blonde offering him a weak smile. "I have a hard time seeing it from your perspective because fighting is what I'm used to. It's my job," he explained. Being a member of the Spec-ops meant that he was well-versed in the ways of training. It was his job to engage senshi, to turn or terminate them.
Fighting was required.
"If you want practice healing, I can probably help with that. I'm no stranger to injuries," he offered, extending a hand. "I can also show you defensive moves if you're insistent in not fighting."

"I don't think I'm useless!" Virtus said with a laugh, shaking his head. "I do my best, and I do everything that's asked of me to the best that I can. I know how to fight, but I'd just prefer not to! A lot of my fellow dark senshi help me, and have given me some good ideas. I guess I just need to find the balance of what really works for me!"
He smiled, his mood never faltering, at least. If the dark senshi needed a cheerleader, he was certainly available for it.
"You don't have to be sorry! I understand what you mean, and I know that not a lot of people think the same way I do. But that's okay! We need people like you, because there are so many who do want to fight on the other team. Until we can figure out how to stop all of that, it's a good job to have."
It just wasn't his job, and he smiled brightly as he nodded his head. He took the hand that was offered to him, shaking it vigorously.
"I appreciate the offers! I will help you if you ever need it, though I hope you can get through without being hurt too much!!"

The captain was beginning to have a hard time taking in just how optimistic Virtus was. It began to make him uncomfortable and he did his best to refrain from fidgeting. He did not know many who would take being called useless in stride or as calmly as the senshi had. Perhaps experience had left Labyrinthite jaded and cold because he could not understand why the other was so damn cheery.
"Clearly..." he said tentatively, eyebrows furrowing while he still tried to figure the boy out. "There aren't many...pacifists on our side," he stated eyes widening at the vigorous shake of his hand. He took his hand back quickly and played with parts of his uniform; straightening his shirt, adjusting his belt and tugging on his hood. "Your abilities are unique, from my knowledge anyway," he informed the blond. "There is little doubt that they will be of great use to us."
He could think of multiple occasions where the healing abilities would have been personally useful to him.
He didn't mind the pain he endured, he would never mind it because it made him stronger and helped him grow. "We'll keep your fight knowledge defensive so you can use it as necessary. If you get into any scrap of trouble, don't hesitate to call." Labyrinthite did not like the Dark Mirror Court but they were allies, and by extension part of the negaverse so he would not turn his back on them. "And I'll try not to, I'm pretty good at delivering the beating rather than receiving it." Except with Sailor Iris.

Virtus never really thought about how happy he was all the time. Maybe if he did he would actually notice how much work went into it, and how much there was to actually be upset about in the world. Instead, he focused on making other people happy, and doing his best to make his contribution to the world around him only positive.
He wanted things to be better, for everyone.
He nodded his head. The idea of training defensively had always been a good one, and suggested a few times for his benefit. he would do what he could to make sure he lived up to the standards of the court. And he would make the best of himself as well.
He was so glad there were so many people who wanted to help!
"That sounds fair! I will call if I need any help and you do the same! It's always good to have friends who are good at different things to you. And I'll do my best to be useful, I really will!"

Suddenly the captain felt weary, worn like he had been holding himself together for too long and it showed as his somber expression softened, fell. He rocked back on his heels as he only half listened to what the boy had to say. He nodded in agreement, still unsure of what had really been said.
He swallowed and wiped his brow trying to get his amber eyes to fixate upon Virtus. Focus, he instructed himself as he offered a hand. "We will arrange a time to teach you, the night is ending quickly," he stated, head tilting back to look up at the sky. It was beginning to lighten ever so slightly. "I'll be sure to keep in touch," he promised. "We'll put you to good use," he joked slightly offering the blond a tired smile.
"Next time?"

"Next time!"
Virtus laughed and moved to take the Negaverse soldier's hand, giving it a strong and enthusiastic shake before releasing it. He at least was not going to cling to it and make things extra awkward. Not that he sensed that they were already.
He found Labyrinthite to be very pleasant and was looking forward to catching up with him more later.
They could be friends!
Which was great, because he had a kinda poor track record with Negaverse soldiers and getting his face bashed in by them. So if one was actually being nice to him, and they could get along, he was all for it.
"I look forward to seeing you again!"
