Dakota had been lacking on the pickup lines. Severely lacking...on pick up lines. He was running out of crude and usually amusingly lame lines that started up conversation with just how often he hit on the hunters.
Most were wasted on hunters that already knew him, he needed fresh meat, fresh ears and a fresh perspective. Or maybe somebody he wasn't as close too. A girl he hadn't tried as hard as possible to bang.
Three came to mind, Eva, Julie and...Candace. His Angel, former assistant and Starbucks. Why those three you ask? Because no matter how he hit on Eva, she just brushed him off. She was like his older sister more then anything. Hott, healing and seductive older sister. Yeah talk about weird. Julie was dead of course so its not like he could hit on her, besides he was sure even if he did, she would end up turning him into some kinda of..something.
That's what she did best. So that left Candace. Starbucks.
And he wouldn't lie. He had enough ginger tea's for the time, maybe it was time to get down and dirty with some mocha latte coffee.
Of course...the only way to find the coffee...was to look in its resting place. TO THE MIST LOUNGE NOW!

You're really tense lately. Atropos said with some amusement as Candace wandered through the main headquarters of the complex. The woman arched a brow and tilted her head to one side.
Tense?
Yeah, you usually uh...relax more often.
Candace stopped walking and actually looked confused. What the hell did...did..Atropos mean what she thought she meant? She frowned, shaking her head with a small sigh. No. She wasn't in the mood for that. And her best source for relaxation currently scared the s**t out of her without her even seeing him. She didn't know what he would do okay. Stretching her arms high above her head with a soft groan, Candace looked around the immediate area. Atropos wanted her to relax? Fine. She'd find entertainment. There had to be something to do around here.
Or someone?
Nope. Not today.
Atropos chuckled and gave up. It was odd for her to be so insistent on this anyway but Candace didn't exactly want to find out why. Besides, she saw someone nearby. A familiar someone. "Da~ko~taaaaa~." She called out in a sing-song voice, grinning at the boy and waving her fingers at him.

Day one:
Beautiful, said mocha latte was coming his way and he had just the thing to pounce on her.
"Hello gorgeous~" Dakota grinned and then gave her a cutesy wave back. "You came just in time, I was doing a report on the finer things in life and I was wondering if I could interview you." Zoom, first pick up line of the day. "We can even make this a..private session..." WINK WINK Candace.

Oh really. Candace couldn't help but grin at Dakota's words. Did he just use a pick up line on her? That was adorable. But he was like twelve. "All right, Dakota." She answered sweetly. "I'll do an interview. What would you like to know?" She had to see where he was going to go with this. She just had to.

Day one
Dakota wasn't twelve.
He really wasn't Candace, Why you say these things!??
His eyebrow rose at her calm and even....accepting demeanor. Oh..Well if she went for that...
"Oh good well then..." Ah he fumbled as he looked around, "Let's sit over here okay?" He gestured her over to one of the many lounge spaces and then pulled out the next line:
"Are you related to Mike Tyson?" He stumbled again, awkward smile before adding, "Because you totally knock me out..." Dakota gave a lopsided grin and then rubbed his head. "Okay that was lame. I guess if I really want to get to know you...I should ask a legitimate question." He laced his hands and then grin back on.
"Are you seeing anyone now?"

Oh now that reaction was just beautiful. Had he expected her to just completely reject him right off the bat? But that would be no fun at all! Doing her best to hide a smirk behind a smile, Candace followed Dakota wherever he wanted to go. She may or may not have made a point to appear more graceful than usual when sitting down, making herself comfortable to listen to whatever Dakota wished to ask her. The first question did actually throw her off. She blinked. Where was he--oh. Another pick up line. Candace chuckled. "No, we're not related. My father was a much darker man than he is, and a lot less violent." This could be fun. Playing words with Dakota could be her tension relief for the day! Alternatives were always welcome.
A real question? Not a pick up line? Candace eyed Dakota almost suspiciously even as he asked his new question. It was more direct but it still seemed like a silly question. Did he not listen to gossip? Huh. "Define seeing. I'm seeing you right now, aren't I?" Her smile returned as she shook her head. "I am not in any kind of monogamous relationship, Dakota. No one holds any kind of claim on me or holds me by a leash and collar. I tried it, it doesn't work for me." Shrugging, Candace tilted her head to one side. "And yourself?"

He had to admit, usually the huntress did just brush him off. She totally thought of him as a kid..but maybe now she was seeing the light. Maybe she was seeing what working out and doing all the missions was finally paying off right now. Maybe he was slowly becoming a Man~ in her eyes. Maybe.
MAYBEEEEEEE~
"That's good to know. Never really met my dad myself. Mom always said he was sweet and then up and ran off after she had Shiva...I was too young to remember him anyways." Dakota striked the pick up line off his usable lines list and sighed.
Of course that one was lame, It was like...no really it was just stupid.
"Well yeah, but I meant..Oh right." He flushed with embarassment, attempting to be cool was not really working in his favor. "I guess I'm kinda of the same way. I'm too young to be taken seriously and to much of a flirt for anything to settle me I guess. I like the freedom though." He tapped his fingers on his leg.
"Okay what do you think about this..." He looked at her again and a cocky grin replaced the teenage lost look, "Did you hear the latest health report?" He waited and then smiled, "You need to increase your daily intake of vitamin me."
Cue all the cocky grins.

Ah, now this was a nice Dakota. An honest one who wasn't using stupid pickup lines or hitting on her. Candace actually showed him a genuine smile as she listened to him speak of his old family life. "You have a little sister?" Shiva didn't exactly sound like a boy's name..but you never know. Girl sounded safer. This was nice, though. Having an actual conversation with an honest Dakota rather than some would-be womanizer who had flat out told her he wanted to be in Mist to form a harem of his own was a fine change of pace. He even blushed! Candace had to hold back a giggle. "Ah, yes. Too young. What are you now, thirteen? I'm sure there's someone out there who takes you seriously. Freedom is very nice, yeah. I didn't realize I'd missed it until.." Suddenly she frowned and shook her head, forcing her smile back when Dakota got her attention again. Oh god, another line. Candace laughed and stood, stepping up to Dakota to playfully ruffle his hair and then lean down to brush her lips against his temple. "Goodbye, Dakota." She didn't sound annoyed, at least. Far from it! There was clear amusement in her tone and on her face before the woman walked away.

"Ah yeah. She a little cutie to be. Think she's around 15 now...At least...From what I remember of her." The moon hunter looked around and then leaned in closer to Candace. "My sister got a lot of the looks of the family, I fear for the day when she reaches the age that she'll be interested in boys...She'll break a lot of hearts." He puffed his chest proudly, but it didn't hide the small sadness and homesickness in his orange eyes. "Sometimes I really miss just sitting around with her and hanging out. since we moved a lot, she was one of the few friends I had." The moon hunter shrugged.
The shrug was offset by a scowl as he looked at her. "No, I'm 18 now, almost 19. March will be my 19th birthday...and one step closer to breaking the teenager zone into MANHOOOOOOOOOD." Well he had broken that but to him, there was a little more time for him to actually be considered a..'man'.
"Nah, Which is fine right now. if I was taken seriously, I would offended a lot of people." His head ducked at the weight of her hand ruffling his hair sa the scowl deepened. "What your leaving me starbucks?" The hunter seemed offset by her sudden leaving, if it wasn't for her smile and the tone of amusement. "Ah see you tomorrow Candace!"
He wondered briefly just what had made her more...approachable to him. Maybe it was one of the pick up lines! He totally thought it was...or maybe it was the talk of Shiva! Maybe Candace liked talking about things...Huh...Well.
There was always Day two!
Day two
And true to his thoughts, Dakota had returned to the mist area, lounging in the same spot he had sat with Candace before and waited for her to appear. Even if he had been waiting for like a hour and the mist hunters were starting to whisper as they passed by him.
Whatever, he had the perfect line for Candace this time!

"Don't tell me you've been out here all night and day." Candace was suddenly beside Dakota with a faintly disapproving frown and her hands on her hips. She didn't appear to be in as high spirits as the day before but she didn't seem volatile. Approach with caution, perhaps?

"Nah, I would've built a fort for a room since so many people pass by around ehre. I didn't realize so many hunters had time until I sat here and watched the same group of mist go back and forth." He smiled up at her, ready to deliver the line when he looked at her face.
"Ah Candace? You okay starbucks? Your kinda of giving me a um...upset vibe." He blinked, "Did someone say something to you? Want me to beat them up?" He looked at her intently. Someone say something to his girls and they were bound to pay.
Only he was allowed to piss them off enough okay.

The same group of Mists? Candace blinked and glanced over her shoulder to see what he was talking about, spotting a vaguely familiar face in the group. Ah, her. She remembered her from her promotion mission. A sharp pang of regret and guilt in Candace's chest made her turn back around and shrug. "They're Mists. They could easily be ******** around with you to see how long you're going to sit here watching them pace back and forth."
At Dakota's question she blinked. No pick up line? Good, good. She forced a smile and shrugged, stepping closer to sit on the arm of the chair he was sitting in. "Tired. Don't worry, I'm fine...I think the problem is that someone hasn't said something to me, I think. Long story." He looked so serious about that, too! That did actually make her feel a bit better. Leaning over, Candace slid onto Dakota's lap and made herself comfortable; her back was against one arm of the chair and her legs were draped over the other, her arm rested along the back of it as well. "Apparently you really meant it when you said you'd see me tomorrow. That's cute." Grinning, Candace playfully tapped Dakota's nose with her finger. "What do you want today, dear?"

Dakota nodded at her as she brushed off his joke and shrugged. "True, I guess I should realize that you know...mist lounge would have like...mist hunters...and really? I guess we all gotta be bored to do stuff like that..." he shrugged again. "but just FYI, I could probably sit here all day and not be bored." He winked and then smiled as she came to sit with him.
"Oh is that a subtle way of asking for a pick up line, okay you asked for it, I've been saving this one up since YESTERDAY," He waited a second and then delivered as promised, "It's a good thing that I have my library card. Why you ask? Because I am totally checking you out!!"
He waited for her reaction...which was to slide on to his lap. SCORE IT WORKED.
"Somebody who hasn't said something to you...I got time if you want to tell me? Or if you'd rather...I can distract you instead?" He waggled his eyebrows suggestively. "I came to see you, since you know...I said I would. Keeping up with promises..." he looked over at her and kept his arms in place. He couldn't just hug her okay...not yet.
They would work up to that.

Candace chuckled and rolled her eyes. Right, because most Mists were women. He had such a one-tracked mind. She was also about to correct him on his assumption she wanted a pick up line until he actually started to deliver it. Her face went from amused to 'oh god please no oh god no Dakota no' in an instant.
Annnnnd there it was.
Candace..that was just awful. Atropos cackled. Candace gave Dakota the most deadpan look, though her arms were still around his neck.
Nope. Nope. Nope.
"Welp, it was nice seeing you." She moved to climb off Dakota's lap, only stopping when he asked her an actual question. Candace frowned, ruffling her hair a bit and glancing Dakota's way. Distractions were nice.. "...I should go. I'm..I'm not in the mood to play today. I'm sorry. It's not you, I promise." Candace gave Dakota an apologetic smile and pat his chest, leaning in to kiss his cheek.
"Be a good boy and maybe I'll see you tomorrow." Candace climbed off Dakota's lap after that, patting his head and walking off just as she had yesterday.

Ah not again! The pickup line totally scared her away! Damn.
"It was nice seeing you too Star-" He gasped at the ruffling of hair and frowned, "hey hey, I'm not a little kid okay. Stop that." He pretty much pouted out his lips at her and looking away. So much for thinking he was starting to seem like an adult!
So close though!
"Ah Maybe tomorrow?" he looked at her hopeful...which got a kiss and a maybe for tomorrow! "Okay! Hope whatever seems to be getting you down Candace works out for you kay? I'll see you later!"
And then his chest puffed out. If he was going to see her tomorrow, he was going to be an awesome friend...Maybe he could ask Eva what would help?
Day 3
Instead of sitting there and waiting for Candace though, he was pacing the Mist lounge as if he belonged. Though they never kicked him out, there was talk of why a moon seemed so intense on being in the mistie area.
Honestly though, he was here to see Candace again. this time though he held something that might make her day a little more cheerful...or something like that.
