Though the sun was in the sky, the temperature was gradually dropping. Cooper had been hiking all day, something the stallion enjoyed in this newfound land, and the cooling of the air was more than welcomed. Although he had wings, the alicorn took pride in the physical feat of traveling the hard way, as he saw it. If others had to endure the rocky slopes, he saw no reason he should be any different. At least this once, he was going to know what it was like to earn the summit's beautiful view. Eyes nearly shut, Coop looked up toward the sky. The sun was high; it must've been mid-day. He figured he must've been climbing for at least a quarter of the day, and he was nearly there. It was a journey, he was sure, that would be well worth the effort.

She'd been cantering and galloping about the majority of her day. Though she wasn't ont he job, it was important to keep fit, and in shape, as it was heavily instilled into her from her first day of foalhood. The plains were excellent for such things such as long distance, without any means of obstacles... but that was far too easy, and merely a warm up. Oksana eventually dove into the thick, lush forests, weaving about the tree's with grace and agility, as though she knew these woods like the back of her tail! Sharp emerald eyes were alert, along with dark black ears, listening, and watching. Her nostrils flared from time to time, scenting a few old tracks of other creatures that had passed through here, taking note of possible migrations that might occur. But they were all so faint... and the place was mostly littered with rodents, bugs, reptiles, and avians. Eventually, she managed to reach the end of it all, to be met face to face with a mountainside. Thick bangs were tossed out of the way as her head was tipped up to gaze at the giant before her. Now this was something she could explore with great confidence and ease. Being a Cerynei had it's advantages. Small, lithe, and dawned with cloven hooves that could maneuver on the rocky terrain assisted immensely. Finding a path up, she began the climb without hesitation, hopping and trotting effortlessly. Though the higher she got, the stronger a particular scent grew.... She paused, ears twitching, gaze shifting to scan her surroundings. Someone was here recently... just a few more hops, and there... her target. Eyes glued to the stallion, studying him from a moderate distance, taking observation of every aspect she could of him. It was key to know your opponent, whether foe or friend. So she decided to bide her time, and wait until she gained enough initial information.

The sounds of birds and squirrels chirping seemed so relaxing to the stallion. He was taking his time in this trip. After all, he had nothing but time. Cooper decided that he didn't need to rest as he had thought, and the stallion was more than eager to reach the summit. So far he'd met another wind who was making his way to the top, but that encounter lasted only until they had found a place to drink. Setting on his way again, the alicorn imagined he was back home, climbing a mighty mountain of soft, warm sand. It was forbidden for him to return without a mate, and he knew that wasn't happening any time soon. With a small sigh, he navigated through the hard rocks and massive trees, even though he was beginning to want to find a clearing and take off flying. He had to think of how it would be worth it, and how it would pay off.

His movements were studied, and considered, her own fluffy tail flicking lightly. Well.. he didn't seem in any hurry... and it was rather strange to see one with wings in such a place. Were they broken? And he had one of those... sticks on his head like the young foal she'd met. Raising a brow curiously, she finally decided to approach him, her movements fluid, and her demeanor casual, "Is strange to see one like you here." she stated to him, glancing to his wings again in a mild gesture. "Are broken?" the accent in her voice was thick, and the broken speech quite apparent... but never something she'd really taken any notice to.

Startled, Cooper winced at the voice of the mare. Feeling quite silly, the stallion chuckled. He turned to face her, and examined her casually. The unusual way she spoke puzzled him for a moment, but so did her appearance. She was quite small, her ears were quite large, and that tail. He couldn't quite place what kind of animal it could belong to. A rabbit, maybe? It did look rather similar, but he didn't think that was quite right. "Are wha--" Coop caught himself and realized what the mare was referring to. "Oh, my wings? No, they are not broken." He stretched them to demonstrate their capability of movement. "How is it strange?"

Watchful eyes gazed upon the large apendages that began to flex, ears twitching forward with slight intrigue, brow crooking once more. So they worked... Huh. Locking onto his eyes again, she maintained a controlled expression, neutral if anything, "is not often birds are on grounds." she casually replied. "Not see many with wings not in air." stepping closer to him, she stared at the horn on his forehead... Was he of warrior background? Some in her herd had such adornments, but usually in large proportions. Though something even as small as that stick could deal heavy damage; especially with how sharp it looked. Standing now just a few paces from him, she took to consideration his build and physique... another surprise to see a bigger guy on the mountains like this. Maybe he was training...

After tucking his wings back to his side, he raised a brow at the curious mare. "Well, would you rather work for something and earn it, or do it the easy way and feel cheated?" He realized the mare may not understand what he was getting at, so he decided to explain a little further. "I could fly to the top, but what satisfaction would it give me? Yes, I'd get a lovely view, but I would much prefer to work for that view, to want it and know what I had to go through to get it. Flying would be too simple." His pink eyes glanced to the trail ahead of the two; it was littered with large rocks and deep crevaces. It was the challenge that made it worth it. The journey, not the view.

Her ears flipped forward again as he responded... which caused her eyes to narrow in a mildly displeasd manner. Smart alec, eh? Her lips formed a straight line almost, tone no longer holding most of its curiousity, "Of course not. I am not weak in that way." she replied firmly, but with considerable control to her tone. "I just state it strange to see. That is all." feeling her aggitation starting to tickle in her mind, she flickered her fluffy tail a few times, nonchalantly looking off, and up the mountain they both stood upon. There weren't any with wings in her herd, but there were plenty enemies and targets that had them... often belonging to those of higher status. What would it be like to have such things... surely you couldn't be as stealthy with them. She muttered softly under her breath, something in another language, but the tone reasembled something like just merely thinking aloud; which she indeed was. "Many birds live up." she stated, eyes honed in on a few circling the tippy top, crying out the declaration of their territory.

"Well it seems," he began, "that many of the winged nature are, and that saddens me. They don't realize how great it makes you feel to do something the hard way." He nodded in a matter-of-fact manner, and followed her gaze. Cooper supposed that he knew more than her how it would feel to be a bird, but he wondered what it would be like to land in trees, to be so small and yet so noticed by others with their beautiful songs and grace. Absent-mindedly, the alicorn fluffed his wings. "Yes, I suppose they do. And perhaps, in the back of my mind, that's why I wanted to go up there so badly." The stallion couldn't imagine what he would do without wings; he had never really thought about it before. "What's it like? To not have wings, that is. Is it easy to get around? I know for me, it's hard to move through trees sometimes. And when it's windy, they get ruffled and it is very uncomfortable." She must've thought him silly, asking about not having wings. Everybody else was asking him what it was like to have them, and he often found them a hinderance.
