I was thinking for December, we could do a christmas themed party. There, we could give away gifts (cookies from the Buttercup Cafe) and hangout and chat. That's all I can think of at the moment. whee

October (Halloween): If the undead theme isnt used we could do THAT here December (Christmas/winter solstice ): ice kingdom? Could have snow fairies, ice people, snow people, snow elves, present people(toys and such), candy people... February (valentines day)Candy people, ribbon people, love angels, glitter people, or we can do the host club thing again... i liked that

♥ october (halloween)- we could have all the decorations in the roleplay town come to life and start roaming the streets, and the roleplayers have to find a way to stop them and turn them back into regular ornaments. the reason for the chaos could be a town witch who is angry at the residents for always portraying witches as ugly hags (this always annoys my mom- she's a witch and she's really pretty!) and decides to teach them a lesson. it all turns out okay in the end though.
december (christmas/winter solstice)- ummm... something to do with jack frost and his goblins stealing the ice-faeries' magical snowflakes which mean they can't end the winter season, which is a big problem. we could have the gaians doing like a scavenger hunt for say... five snowflakes to restore gaia to normal.
february (valentines day)- something to do with um... cupid getting sick, so nobody can fall in love, which is a big problem because um... not too sure. but i might finish that later. when i'm not busy learning about alternating currents //facepalm.

Okay, I think I have good ideas for almost all three! cat_whee
The first one, Halloween, is (obviously) a costume party! On a different forum site that I frequent, they have something called a 'trick or treat' tradition - people have their lights 'on' if they are participating, and lights 'off' if they are not! Basically, someone messages the person with their lights on; 'Trick or Treat!'. The user with lights on can give them a treat or a trick; whatever they think would fit the parameters of either! :3c It works really well on the other site I visit but idk how well that would work on gaia - I'm well aware that begging is frowned upon, and I know the shops do their own version of t&t'ing... But why not have a semblance of trick or treating? Or maybe instead of that, how about a costume contest? Halloween is my favorite holiday to celebrate - so I think I would be happy with pretty much anything that wasn't based around fighting zombies or the undead.
Now, I don't really know what all goes into Winter Solstice - so I have zero idea about that theme and I am far too lazy to determine. Maybe a Holiday Faire would be a more appropriate term - we could celebrate all of the December holidays in a sort of colossal festive thing party! It could be an Ugly Sweater party, or maybe just a sweater party? We could try caroling as a group in the towns even... :0 Maybe a cool thing to do for that would be a tree decorating contest - where there is a picture of a naked tree base and people can decorate it with whatever they want and send it in to be judged by everyone?
Valentine's Day is a little harder.... Maybe a Matchmaking Party? I realize that could seem really weird from a party-based aspect. However I think it could also be really fun if there wasn't anyone who starts trying to cyber with everyone... emotion_eyebrow But it could be fun to do something under the premise of getting people together. ON THE OTHER HAND DOING SOMETHING JUST THE OPPOSITE WOULD BE HILARIOUS TOO Talk about a black hearts party, or moreover a 'Singles Awareness' type of event. For everyone who loves to celebrate Valentine's Day, there is someone who hates it because of several reasons - be they commercial over-saturation, public displays of affection, or just the fact that they don't have anyone to celebrate the holiday with! Those annoying singing V-Day bears probably also have something to do with it too...
Anyways, those are my suggestions! emotion_yatta

I'd like to first stress avoiding anything that is religious in nature. Christmas is fine, because in this day and age it's less about the religious aspect of that holiday as it is about family and friends, but that would have to be the main focus of the event. If some of the Role Players are religious that is fine, it's great even, but it would be more welcoming to guests to have the theme a neutral one.
October - My thought for this is to draw from the Undead theme but on a smaller scale. Someone had mentioned a necropolis, but it could be carried out with a Haunted Mansion, too. The Host Club is still new and not all of the character know each other so well, but what brings people together faster than having the daylights scared out of them?
For anyone who does not enjoy scary themes, there would be a promise to keep the "horror" PG-13 (so no excessively gory scenes that would raise the violence rating)
There should be LOTS and lots of contests! Art, avatar, (no tektek), writing - make it very fun! There should be lots of dice-based mini-games in the thread too!
December - I'd like to see more of a Winter Wonderland event than a Christmas one, but there's no reason in the world that gift giving shouldn't be the focus. In fact, rather than having many dice-based games like in the October event, the funds should be turned towards anonymous gifting. Encourage anonymous gifting in the thread and have hosts sending out gifts as well. Of course the gifts don't have to come from the hosts if the hosts can't afford it. Either from the ball or from other members, we can provide some gifts that are worth 10-20k each.
Of course we'll still have the art contests and such!
February - If it's not broke don't fix it. Last year's Valentine's was a mass success and I believe it was largely due to the number of hosts and the simplicity of the event. No heavy plot, no complicated storylines, just a Host Club gathered together to have fun with guests. Let the guests come up with the plots for their characters - you know they probably will, anyways. Follow along with your characters and be romantic about it. Most people Role-Play for a little romance anyways!
Lots of contests for this one again, but less so on the dice-games just because people won't want to have die rolls cluttering their steamy cheesy love sessions!
And to add something, because I just saw the post above me, let's take advantage of having Gaia as a resource to our role-play experience. Try to have at least one night per event dedicated to a meet in Towns for whatever reason. If these are all around the holidays then there will be plenty to do in Towns, too. You could even come up with some kind of fun contest for Towns! Think on it, because not a lot of the role-play sites that people frequent have flash spaces for users to play in.

<3 robayn... let me love you! i think most of my holidays that i posted arn't religious based any-more, like you said with Christmas, Halloween has turned more into a fun thing for kids to do and a way to get lollies, not many of the religious facts are played upon any-more. valentines day is neither religious or really a holiday, but it's cute and a lot of people celebrate it with their partners. when ever you mention host club i think of Ouran High School Host Club.... and it was basically what you we're describing in the characters forum >.< we havent really decided on whether they're all around holidays, but these three are all ones that Spotted, Epcot and i want to do, along with a summer one.

I'm always open to being loved! emotion_awesome I think the focus should be on these three holidays since Gaia tends to have separate subforums for them. That makes it a lot easier to host an event than trying to fit it into Barton Town.

I think the key is to have a lot of hosts, too. A large part of the popularity of some events vs others was that there were enough hosts to keep it active when guests were sparse, and extra to pick up guests when they did stroll in. Then, during times of high activity, there were lots of hosts to engage guests as well, rather than in some events when hosts were already juggling two or more people.
eran no shi Robayn
