It was a warm day and Amira was spending the day flying around, looking for a quiet place along the stream to land and grab a quick drink. Her mate and best friend Amenophis was out for the day, and Amira was excited to get the day to pass so she could spend some much needed time alongside him. Lately she simply wanted to nuzzle and cuddle him. As she went into a daydream about her stud, she got a bad feeling. As she looked around quickly, she noticed a set of bright yellow glowing eyes at the edge of the forest. Amira quickly jolted. She was afraid. This was the first time in a long time that Amira had seen her nightmare and she was alone.

The jolt was enough to awaken Amira, who had been sound asleep, again dreaming about Amenophis. As she got her bearings, Amira looked around and noticed that Amenophis was not there next to her. She peered up and the sky was still dark. Her breathing was very heavy, but she tried to calm herself. She had been awoken form many nightmares lately, but this was the first time that she saw eyes on her. Other nightmares had only been silhouettes. Amira looked around for a moment. Her mouth was extremely dry, and the river wasn't thta far away. She needed some hydration, so after a few moments of debating, Amira was finally able to calm herself and get her breathing under control, and decided to make the short journey.

Amira got to her feet, shook her wings a bit to "fluff" them, and proceeded to the stream.

It wasn't like Aquitaine to be out at night, especially this far away from home. But like it or not this was the situation she had found herself in and there was little she could do about it. Honestly she should just find a place to lay down and wait til morning to continue her journey but this unfamiliar area made her uneasy and Aquitaine knew she wouldn't be able to sleep because of it. Oh why hadn't she brought Gaul along this time? He would have given her an extra pair of eyes and ears to work with and surely he could help her either find her way or pick our a safe spot to spend the night. Her dragon didn't seem to mind the darkness, his red eyes stared at her every time she glanced back to check her surroundings. It was a creepy feeling having him watch her, and while she knew he was always there, being stuck in the dark with him made Aquitaine a bit unsettled. What if he decided to take advantage of her distracted ways and bite her? She wouldn't put it past him, he had a habit of attacking her when she least expected it.

As she walked, slowly and hesitantly, her eyes straining to see Aquitaine wished for nothing else than for day to come. Then she would be able to clearly see where she was going. More than likely this nighttime wandering had done nothing but get her completely lost and tomorrow would be spent trying to backtrack while being exhausted from lack of sleep. Letting out a yawn Aquitaine had no choice but to continue forward. A soft rumble from her dragon made her stop instantly. Standing there listening Aquitaine could have swore she heard a soft shuffling noise, like someone moving in the night. "Hello?" She called out hesitantly, scolding herself for giving away her presence should the owner of those footsteps be a predator.

Amira calmed herself with each step she took towards the stream, and had finally calmed her breathing. These nightmares were nothing new to her, and keeping herself worried, especially when venturing out into the darkness was not a smart idea. If every noise freaked her out, she knew she'd never be able to move about without her mate, and the fear would overtake her.

She approached the stream, but stopped abruptly when she thought she had heard a sound. She looked around, hoping that it was her mind messing with her again, but she couldn't help but to be cautious. Sure enough, just as she got the nerve to take another step, she heard a voice. Her heart sank momentarily as she looked around. It was very hard to see, but Amira could make out two sets of eyes. "Hel...lo?" she called out cautiously, as she stopped once again in her tracks.

There was definitely someone else out there but Aquitaine couldn't see who...or what. Though the voice that called back sounded female and was about as hesitant as she had felt calling out in the first place. For a moment she took solace in that, they were likely just someone like her, wandering out here later than they normally would. But just as she started to relax things her father had told her swam up through her mind. Those who were of evil intent often used their victims weakness to their advantage, calling out for help to lure in an unsuspecting Soquili, being manipulative to gain ones trust and using the cover of night to hide their approach. Perhaps the other lurking out here wasn't safe to approach. But Aquitaine would never know for certain until she saw the stranger.

Turning her head towards where the sound had come from Aquitaine could barely make out the outline of the Soquili in the dark. She couldn't tell if it was a skinwalker or Kalona so she would need to use caution and stay alert. She took a few slow steps forward towards the owner of the voice. Her hoof caught on the edge of a rock jutting up from the ground. "Ouch." Aquitaine mumbled before moving more cautiously. Why was she out here in the dark? The red eyes of her dragon were the only thing that stood out to her amid the blackness of night. With a sigh Aquitaine continued forward, slow and steady. "I...don't suppose you are from around here?" She asked the owner of the voice. Should she risk asking for a safe place to spend the rest of the night before seeing who she was walking towards? Aquitaine decided to hold that question back for now, best to know everything before committed oneself.

She-Ra of Etheria

Amira listened quietly awaiting an answer. She was really scared and nervous about what could lie ahead. For all she knew, she could be walking right towards her nightmare. Something told her though, that she should be strong, and everything would be ok. She kept telling herself this over and over in her mind, making herself believe it. Suddenly, she heard a noise, and her fears were washed away. As she head the sound of another in pain, even just a a faint "ouch" got her worried. She had a big heart, and never wanted to see others in pain. "Are.... you ok?" she asked the voice, hesitating a bit for an answer.

Amira was to caught up in fear that had turned to worry to respond to the other questions.

She had not expected the other to ask if she was okay, but it certainly made the situation less unpleasant. "Yes, I am fine. Just caught my hoof on a rock." She said with a bit of a laugh. "It's darn hard to see in this dark." Really why was she still awake? More so, why was she out and about this late at night in this unfamiliar area? Usually the only time she moved around at night was in her own home which she was so familiar with she didn't need to wait until the light of day to move around or find something. Though her dragons eye glowed red they did not emit enough light for her to see anything other that the features of his face, and honestly, though she was quite used to his presence seeing him in the dark like this was a bit frightening. Now wonder she tended to sleep at night instead of wandering around.

Aquitaine continued to walk slowly towards the other, making sure to move her hooves more carefully to avoid any more unpleasant surprises lurking about on the ground.

She-Ra of Etheria

Amira's worried feeling was calmed much more as the stranger answered with a laugh, and she let her guard down, which could be a bad idea later on. For now though, Amira felt more comfortable approaching the stanger. "I'm glad your ok." Amira said, "These rocks can be a hazard, especially the smaller ones. When your walking around in the dark, its even worse."

Amira walked closer to the mare, and the shadow became more defined, but it looked as if the shadow had two heads, which was a little creepy, but the figure had already seemed to have proven herself not to be a danger. As she proceeded to get a bit closer, she answered the strangers previous questions. "My mate and I usually curl up right over there," she said as she turned her snout to the cluster of trees, not realizing that the area was a bit harder to see in pitch black. "I just..." she started to say something about being woken up by her nightmare, but decided not to bring that up just yet. "... just needed a drink." she said.
