"And a-one... two... threeeee!"

Sutai was training at the playground. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. You see, she had a very important task to focus on: she wanted to be the best page she could be for her princess and had to train in order to do that. What would make for a more fun way to train than to swing as high as you could and jump off to land on your feet? Sutai didn't think there was anything 1) more fun and 2) less dangerous than jumping off a building and potentially breaking ankles/other pieces of her body. The sand was soft and had some give to it with the page landed in a sky-blue flurry of crystals and puffy skirt.

Successfully sticking her third landing, the Polaris Page sprung up and did a little victory pose not unlike one she'd learned from Tsui and rushed back to the swings to try again. It was tiring, but worth it! Besides, who could blame her for having a little fun while on the job? She was practicing her sensing and didn't really notice anyone nearby.

"Okay... again!" And Sutai started to swing.

When Super Sailor Tsui had powered up this evening, she had a completely different goal in mind. She would, once again, put her usual prey of agents of Chaos on hold, though this time, she sought out a completely different person all together. It had been much too long since she had seen the page of Polaris, Sutai, and Tsui felt as though she were a horrible friend to not have sought her out any sooner. But, it was decision that she had taken to heart, and with good reason. She had been taking some risky gambles as of late, and the last thing she wanted to do was to drag Sutai along and risk her getting hurt.

Tsui couldn't imagine such a thing happening to such an eager and sweet girl, but she had promised Pasiphae that she wouldn't do her patrols in solitude anymore. She would allow Sutai to tag along this time around, but Tsui was going to tread the waters gently this time, and avoid the more potent auras that she would normally venture out towards. Whatever happened this evening, Tsui wasn't going to allow anyone to hurt her friend and partner in crime...

Speaking of, she found her at the park where they had originally met, and she watched as Sutai was going for her fourth jump, and she half wondered if she should have introduced herself right there, or... perhaps the more devious, and lesson building approach, to sneak up on her. 'I'm sure she can sense me... let's see how close I can get before she notices me...'

Yes, it was a little mischievous, but Tsui was certain that Sutai would sense her approach. So, she walked forward, slowly, quietly, two things that most would scoff at if put into the same sentence as Super Sailor Tsui, though perhaps now she was acting more like her sphere would have.

The swings squeaked as Sutai swung back and forth, gleefully ignorant of the predator on the prowl. She giggled as she neared the apex of her fifth consecutive jump. Who said sixteen was too old to enjoy a good swingset? Sometimes adults were just too busy being... adults. The crystals on her outfit sang in the wind as Sutai chewed her bottom lip, a clear sign that she was getting ready to jump. Her legs swung out, the wind speed was right, everything was perfect but...

...wait, what was that?

Sutai looked about on her back swing. Something felt odd! Camelot had always told her to be mindful of her surroundings but everything felt okay five minutes ago! Or was it twenty? Either way, somebody was out there! The page of Polaris dug her heels into the sand to slow herself down and when she was able, called forth her telescope and looked through it. She looked at the bushes, behind the trees, in and around the plastic playset. Hmm. Somebody was hiding back there. They felt... okay! They felt like her so she knew they ought to be nice... right? Maybe?

"O-okay! Whoever you are umm... I can see you! I have a very, very, very neat magical telescope that's like... like an x-ray! So you don't have to hide, okay? I'm very nice! I have a princess! Um... please come out! Thank you." Gold eyes peered again through the ancient instrument and she hummed nervously to herself.

Sutai was hardly threatening. And sucked at bluffing.

Tsui had to admit that she had gotten much closer than she thought possible given the ability to detect aura, though she wasn't sure if it was due to her actually succeeding in being stealthy, or if Sutai was too distracted by her landing practice to have noticed her sooner. Either way, Tsui was not going to carry on the charade any longer, and she stepped into Sutai's line of vision, arms up in the classic 'I surrender' position and a friendly smile on her face in hopes of hiding the mischievousness nature that underlined that grin of hers. "Well, since you've asked so nicely..."

It took much effort for her not to laugh at her friend's reaction, but the fact that she had caught on to her aura made Tsui proud. Either that meant that the Tiger senshi was getting stronger, or her friend was definitely honing her skills, or even a mixture of both. Tsui was proud, nevertheless, and she let it show as she approached her friend, her arms open for a hug, something the Tiger senshi gave sparingly. "I was going to try sneaking up on you, maybe give you a little scare, but it seemed that you were aware enough of your surroundings to notice me, AND you were smart enough to leave the impression that you weren't. Yep, you're going to make a fine strategist, Sutai."

"EEEEE!"

Sutai quickly dropped her telescope in favor of dive-tackling her senshi-bff-that-wasn't-her-princess. The crystals on her outfit swayed and danced as the page bounced up and down all over poor Tsui. "You look different! You got--OHMIGOD--you got FUZZY, Tsui! You're fuzzy! You're so fuzzy how'd you do that?!" Sutai squeaked and squealed and went about admiring all the subtle changes of the tiger senshi's outfit. The fur bits were her absolute favorite. "Did you upgrade, Tsui? Did you got all super powerful? Are you a super senshi now, Tsui? That is so cool!"

Her bouncing and spazzing fit over, Sutai then realized that in order to be effective, she had to have her weapon with her. She bounded back to the spot where her telescope lay, retrieved it and returned to her post beside her senshi friend. "Well, I dunno about being a strategist but... but I'll try! I'll definitely try, just for you and my princess! Have you met Polaris? She's fuzzy too and... well no, she's more fluffy than fuzzy but you get my drift. I bet she'd really like you because you're very nice and very strong too. Mmm hmm."

Sutai giggled for a moment, toying with her long braid. "I'd like to be strong like you someday, Tsui! But I don't think I'll be fuzzy, which makes me kind of sad." She frowned for a moment. "But fuzzy is more of your department than mine, I think!"

Things had been quite hectic for the Tiger senshi as of late, so much so that she sometimes forgot that her attire may have appeared different for a few others, and she thought she was prepared for Sutai's reaction, but she was wrong. But just because she was taken completely off guard, that did not mean that she didn't like the warm welcomed she received, and if anything, it drove the guilt of her risky solo runs even deeper to know exactly what she was missing out on. In response to Sutai's utter joy, Tsui returned the gesture with a hug of her own, though as strong as she was, she was certain that it could not even think to compete with Sutai's ferocity, though she matched it with enthusiasm. "Yeah, I apparently kicked enough butts in the Chaos ranks to earn my stripes and THEN some..."

She gave herself a look over, still surprised with how much her attire had changed, and for the better, with a simple upgrade, and while it was premature, she couldn't help but wonder what the eternal stage would have brought. Maybe she's gain a tail after all, instead of buttwings? No, much too early for that...

"Not sure where the fuzz came from, but gotta say, it's rather stylish, don't you think?" Tsui said, giving her friend a wink and then curling her hand into a fist to flex a muscle for her. "You can call me Hot Fuzz now, if you like, because these fuzzy leather boots will be doing so much youma and bad guy stompin' that they'll be red hot!"

It had sounded much better in her head than it had when she said it, but Tsui was never a senshi of profound wisdom or words. She was a senshi of action, though she tried to curb this almost insatiable appetite for danger, for the sake of her close friend's safety. After all, now she had to help Sutai catch up with her and gain her Squire rank! "I've seen Polaris before. Lots of fur and feathers, which looked really nice against her darker skintone. But you know, I think you're going to look just as awesome, if not more awesome than her. Just call it a hunch... hang out with me, and you're bound to get my stylish good tailor as well!"

"I hope you didn't kick the butts too hard." Sutai said, eyes narrowing in an almost clinical way. "You might break a foot if you do, and then what? No more butt kicking until it heals, that's what! And that's no good." With a giggle, the page smiled again. "Something tells me that Kitty doesn't like to be idle!" With a twirl, the Page made another round about her super senshi partner in crime to admire all the details that this Celestial Tailor bestowed upon her. Whoever he or she was, they did a very good job on senshi!

The Hot Fuzz comment didn't fly over Sutai's head - she knew all about the movie and giggled in response. "So now all you need is a siren on your head. Wee-woo, wee-woo, watch out, bad guys! Super Tsui is here to bust some buns! Maybe give them a few extra buttcheeks, yeah?"

When Tsui mentioned she'd seen Polaris, Sutai nearly jumped for joy. "She's so very nice, Tsui! She treats me like a bee eff-eff and we do great things together. I know we'll go places. I'm sure we will but..." Sutai looked down at her outfit, back up at Tsui and then back down at herself again. "Well, you see... a page can't be prettier than her princess. That's like a bridesmaid being prettier than the bride!" Golden eyes narrowed in thought and Sutai nodded vigorously. "Like, if I was your bridesmaid and I showed up in a dress that trumped yours... I'm sure I'd feel what you've been dishin' out to the Negaverse, and I don't really want to feel that. Nope, no sir!"

The Polaris page was thought in thought for a moment, almost like swimming through a daydream before she blinked herself back to reality. "You know, if you ever do get married... Tsui, can I be your maid of honor?!" Now she was getting all excited about a wedding that may never take place.

Oops.

"HA! With the Negaverse and their scruffy, Dark Mirror Pals, one can never kick their butts TOO hard!" Tsui boasted this feat with little thought or concern; it's just something she truly felt. No matter how much she'd try to deny it, she simply had little room for pity in regards to her enemy, though she knew she could never bring herself to outright kill them. No, that would definitely have been a bad thing... though if anyone of them tried hurting Sutai or her friends, Tsui couldn't promise not to maul them.

Her thoughts were pulled away from that rather dark part of her subconscious when Sutai went on about Polaris, and to say that she was completely taken by surprise by the comparison and topic of marriage was a bit of an understatement. Super Sailor Tsui had faced down many youma, some of which could have easily have done her in if she wasn't careful (or downright LUCKY), powerful enemies among the Negaverse and Dark Mirror Court, but the thought of marriage? Why the hell did that startle her?

She tried to play it cool, though, but Tsui was about as subtle as a white tiger trying to hunt in a luscious green jungle. A fitting comparison. "It's a little early for me to be talking about marriage, but yeah, assuming my sister doesn't pitch a fit... you know, those privileges are usually reserved for family members, but I think she'd understand. Or... would, if she knew what I was... then again, she might run away and never return if I told her what I was." Her mind trailed off for a moment, and the way she tugged at the white hair that rested on her shoulders said a lot about the sudden chill she felt. "Or maybe she'll like it and then put herself in danger, and then my older sister would be my sidekick..."

Now it was HER turn to feel awkward, and she tried to recover as she looked to Sutai. "Or would be, if I didn't already have a sidekick. Though... you're not my sidekick, you're more like my partner, right? It won't be long before we're on equal grounds, so it's best to see our relationship as a partnership!"

Then, she added, sofly, "But yeah, if I ever find a guy willing to put up with me, you can be my maid of honor. But you can't look prettier than me, okay?"

Scruffy Dark Mirror pals? Oh dear... Sutai hated to hear that but after what Lesath had said.. After she had explained never to speak to anyone in black ever again, that they'd kill her if they saw her. The normally bouncy page looked down in sorrow and fiddled with the edges of her skirt. "Tsui? Can I ask you... about the Dark Mirrors?" Her voice wavered, uncertainty quite evident. "You see... I met a few of them and didn't know who they were. They were very nice to me though, but at the very end, one of them... she was a mothy lady named Lesath. We were talking in front of the jewelry store downtown, talking about boyfriends and princesses... she finally said never to speak to them again because they would hurt me if they saw me."

Sutai sputtered, waving her hands in a flurry. Telling someone was badass as Tsui would certainly incite a war and possibly cause casualties. "W-w-what I mean to say is that Lesath said she would not harm me! But others, others might! So I am being very careful!" The dark skinned girl shook her head vigorously. She'd be much more careful from now on. "But, I mean to say... my question is..." Sutai bent her knees and tilted her head up to look at Tsui's eyes. "Are they really bad? Lesath said they're following a princess like I am but they don't love her, Tsui! It sounds like they only follow her because they have to that's just not right, Tsui. It's just not right..."

The page sighed and looked into her upturned palms. Why hadn't she seen it sooner? "You know more than I do... it just doesn't seem right. I don't like it, Tsui. Why can't we just... all sit down and talk everything out and sign a peace treaty or something? Wouldn't that benefit the people of Earth? I know it would..."

Her self-doubt began to bubble to the surface, roiling about in the sea of Sutai. "I know I'm not strong like you are, Tsui, and I'm not a very good strategist but..." She formed little gloved fists. "But I want to get strong and fast like you! I'd love to be your partner if you don't mind teaching me! I want to serve my princess more and be a real help to people, you know?"

The tone of their reunion had shifted so suddenly, from cheerful, to a little awkward, and now, rather sullen, and Tsui had never seen Sutai in such a state. Anger bubbled within her, but none of it was directed towards the Page. No, only to her enemies, and of course, to herself. She listened to Sutai, taking in her explanation and trying to think of a way to reply. In retrospect, she couldn't remember if she saw Sutai at the meeting or not, and it was because of that she did not reply immediately.

When she did, Tsui answered with almost uncharacteristic tact, trying to chose her words carefully so that she wouldn't throw her friend into a deeper state of confusion. After hearing what Sutai just confessed, Tsui wasn't sure if she wanted her friend to know just... how deep her own animosity of the Chaos faction went, especially with the Dark Mirror Court. "I'll be honest with you. I'm not the most knowledgeable about the Dark Mirror Court, but I do know one thing: they can't be trusted. Not so long as Ares is their Princess... if there are some members of that court that fear her, then they have every right to."

She tried to recall what Kallichore had told her, all the while trying to hide the disgust from her voice as she explained. "She forced a lot of them to convert, against their will, and from what I hear, her corruption is pretty damn strong... so much that a lot of them REALLY believe that they're the ones in the right in the war, and we're the evil ones."

Tsui was a little intrigued to hear about Lesath's warning, but Tsui had an idea as to why someone would threaten Sutai. "During the attack, I noticed that the Dark Mirror Court were specifically targetting pages. They were merciless... the fact that Lesath gave you a warning, though... maybe you found a way to weasel your way into her heart? You have enough charm and you're too adorable to kill!"

It was a way of alleviating the tension, though Tsui was certain that she'd fail. Sutai seemed really hurt by this, and she couldn't stand to see her beautiful face tarnished with such a frown, though how she managed to stay so cute with it was a mystery to Tsui. "Look, I wanted peace too. Still kind of do, but... after what happened during the meeting and the ambush, I just don't think it'll be possible with Princess Ares running the show. At least I can understand some of the crazy that comes out of the Negaverse... the Dark Mirror Court? That's... a whole other crazy."

It reminded her briefly of the forming of a scheme that a few had during the meeting, moments before everything had hit the fan, and it was enough to cause a rather dark smile to appear on the Tiger Senshi's face. In response to Sutai's determination, she gave a nod and gave her friend a pat on the back. "You say you're not a very good strategist, but you're certainly onto something. Lesath said that she doesn't like her princess... then that means that there's some kind of hole in their faith, which means that we can start planting a few seeds of discontent among them, right? All it takes is a little push, and maybe we can see which ones would want to be free from her tyranny."

Tsui didn't want to go into too much detail, not yet. This was a risky gamble in itself and Tsui knew that she couldn't push Sutai into it, not with the threat on her life. Dark Mirror Court had no need for pages, and like hell Tsui would put her friend in danger, nor would she allow a single one of them to hurt her. She pulled Sutai closer, wearing a warm, but as genuine as humanly possible, and she hoped to send some of her own confidence into her friend. "We'll iron out the details of that later, but for now, why don't we get to a little training? You say you want to be as fast and as strong as me? I can help you with that, and the next time you'll see Polaris, she'll be shining with envy!"

Sutai was the type of person who thought that, deep down, everyone had a little bit of goodness inside them. Even if they'd forgotten it due to trauma or bad circumstances, it was still there. Sometimes man stumbles and loses his way, she always said to herself. Mama always told her to keep her chin up and Anandi was a good child. She always did as she was told. Now listening to Tsui, the page grew nervous and heavy-hearted. Lesath and Remarque were nice to her, Lesath especially. Sutai thought that maybe they could remain friends despite the war.

The page shook her head before the Mighty and Very Knowledgeable Tsui. "But it's not right Tsui! You can't follow someone because you fear them or you don't like them! That's slavery. You're meant to follow the person you believe in! The person that's doing what's best for everybody! How can Ares be so mean and make everyone into your slaves?" Gloved hands clasped together in a plea. "I wasn't trying to be a weasel, you see. I just thought she looked so very lonely and I wanted to say hello and I learned all of these things about her and Ares."

Sutai looked down at her skirt and sighed, wondering if Lesath really was a slave to the princess she didn't love. "I want to save them, you know? Free them and have them follow what's in their hearts, not some crummy old mean princess who forces things on them. I want them to be free and strong like you, Tsui! I don't want them to target people like that... I don't know why they don't like knights." She looked perplexed when Tsui mentioned a large ambush and a meeting. What did she miss? "Some of them sound so very mean, Tsui but I know you could show them what for if you needed to!"

The hug meant the world to Sutai and she wrapped her snow blue arms around her senshi companion. "I'll always believe in you, Super Sailor Tsui! You have the heart of a tiger and I know that nobody can beat you when you believe in yourself." A couple of giggles and bounces later, Sutai seemed to return to her old self. "Oh yes indeed! Training would be great, Sensei Tsui! I'd like to be a strong and fast and smart as you! And then Polaris will be so happy!"

"Because Ares is a monster... no if, ands or buts about it, Sutai." Tsui said, not liking to see her friend so distraught or sad about anything, but she could not find a way to sugarcoat the truth. One couldn't sugarcoat the truth, and shouldn't. Sometimes the truth needed to be told bluntly, without remorse or hesitation. Who was she trying to protect? A Princess that succumbed to her own weakness and dragged others down with her? What respect did Tsui have for her? "She was lonely, but instead of rising above it, she chose a path that not only doomed herself, but doomed others as well. From what I've seen, she's irredeemable... and maybe so are some members of the Dark Mirror Court, but if what you said about Lesath and others is true... maybe some of them CAN be saved."

When Sutai admitted that she wasn't attempting to gather valuable Intel, Tsui could only smile at her friend's honesty. "It won't be easy. If they're anything like the Negaverse, they have to be very careful what they say and who they say it to, otherwise Ares won't think twice about hurting them to enforce her rule. That's probably one of the reasons why Lesath told you to leave; not only would you have been killed on sight, but she'd be hurt too. If we're going to help them escape, we need to tread the waters very carefully... which will be a pain in the butt for someone like me, but if it means helping those that want to be helped, then I'll give it a try.

"As for why they don't like knights? The most I can gather is that Ares has no way of converting them into her minions, so they're useless to her. At least... that's the impression I got during that ambush." Tsui didn't want to think about it; she was spared from immediate death at their hands because there was always a chance they could try to 'convert' her, but pages and knights? Too many died at their hands, and Tsui wasn't going to let them get close enough to hurt Sutai. Ever. Even if that meant to end her solo career, Tsui was determined to protect Sutai and any knight or senshi from Chaos. Some of this determination reflected in her voice, and Sutai's vote of confidence did its job well, as she gave her friend's hands a warm squeeze. "We both need to get stronger, Sutai. If we're going to make Princess Polaris and others proud and save those that want it, then we both need to get stronger, and wiser, too. And the only way to rise up is to train hard!"

She gave a confident nod, before pulling Sutai along. "So chin up, bear a grin, and let's get to training already! Lesath and the rest aren't going to save themselves, right?"

And, in truth, Tsui couldn't bear to see Sutai frown. She was far too pretty to be frowning like that...

Sutai hung her head. Couldn't the others be saved? Couldn't the nice people stuck under Ares' iron rule be freed somehow? To her, she knew there had to be a way deep down in her heart. The little page just had no idea how to go about doing it. Sutai felt she had little power to change the course of the war and that thought alone sent her spiraling into a sea of self-doubt.

Could Polaris somehow help them see? Help them see how much like slaves they all were to Ares? There simply had to be a way, but Sutai couldn't figure it out. There was nothing she could do, she was convinced.

That was until Tsui helped her out of it, as she always did.

Brightening considerable, Sutai clasped her hands in Tsui's. Super senshi! "Right! You're completely right. I was wrong to think they couldn't be saved, Tsui. I was wrong." The page was saying it more to herself than to Tsui, but it didn't hurt either way. Just saying it out loud gave her more confidence than she'd had in a while. "We just have to keep trying! They'll see the light soon, I just know it! I'm ready whenever you are, Tsui!" The page started to bounce back and forth on her heels to indicate she was more than ready to follow the tiger, no matter where she may lead.

"They can be persuaded... it's probably just going to take a lot of effort on our part," Tsui said, strengthening her hold on her friend but not too tightly. She wanted Sutai to know that she was hear to help her, to travel this trialing path that awaited them side by side. Tsui wasn't going to lie to herself, or to Sutai. This was not going to be an easy task, and Tsui had her own doubts, but she couldn't let her bring her down, nor let it affect her friend. Maybe talking with them would be easy enough? Tsui was willing to try.

But that business could wait until later. For now, Tsui wanted to give Sutai her full attention, and she wanted to make sure that she was prepared for the upcoming fights that would likely break out. Being a page was a bad situation when addressing the Dark Mirror Court, and Tsui wanted to make absolutely certain that her friend was fully prepared.

"Alright, then let's go, before the night disappears! I don't know about you, but I have a test in the morning that I have to at least make it to school for..." Tsui said with a smile, pulling her friend along. There were still some hours of the night left for them, but in truth, she wanted to savor every second of it spent with Sutai. 'If... I didn't know any better... I'd say this feeling in me is... can it be... love?'

It was certainly something worth investigating, but later. For now, Tsui was a warrior, and a warrior who would do anything to protect her friend. Anything.
