Jolanka made her way down a windy river. She had come across the river during her travels and thought she would travel along it for a while. Her travels had started months ago when she decided it was time for her to see the world. As much as she loved her family, she needed a chance to grow into herself. She wanted to find a place where she belonged. There was no way for her to know where she needed to go, just gut instinct.

She felt that she was lucky in life as she did have a family that cared for her. Her mother taught her how to hunt and her father taught her how to fight. Out in the rogue lands she knew she would be safe. She did, however miss her father's stories and the company of her siblings. It had been some time since she had any real companionship. She knew that once she figured out where she was going she would find some friends. She had no intention of traveling alone her whole life.

The sun was about midway in the sky when she decided to rest next to the river in a spot that didn't have any rapids. She could see some fish swimming playfully in the river. It hadn't been very long since she ate, so the fish were not tempting to eat. They were, however, fun to play with, she thought. She put her paw into the river and chased a couple smaller fish with her paw. 'Now this is relaxing!' she thought as she smiled gently.

Once again the dark lion slowly wandered away from his pride's land, into the rogue lands. With as much as he wandered off, he wondered if maybe he shouldn't have been a crier for the pride instead of a bouncer. Then again he much preferred helping keep the peace during the festivities than running around, telling people about the events and the pride itself.

Thankfully the sun had slowly started to head lower in the sky so it didn't heat him up as quickly has it had been for the past few months. He continued his slow walk, in no hurry to actually get anywhere. Besides he didn't want to go too far out and he had no need to hunt right now, having joined in on a small feast before he had left.

Eventually he picked up the scent of fresh water and worked his way towards the direction the scent had come from. When he finally found the small river the first thing that caught his eye was the tan lioness sitting near the water with her paw dipped in. He smiled slightly and slowly made his way over to her.

"Fishing?"

“Hm no, not fishing. Just playing,” she responded not leaving her eyes off the fish. She continued to play in the water when she paused. Someone had just talked to her, she realized. She twirled her head to see who it was. “Aw! I am so sorry. I mean, I didn't even realize you were there. Well I guess I did since I responded to your question. I just didn't think about someone coming here and talking to me.” She spoke quickly with a hint of distress in her voice. Had it been so long since she had communication with a lion that she lost all ability to speak normally, she wondered.

She stood up and looked at him properly. She found his coat interesting. Her family had all tan fur, some with a hint of color like her. It was rare for her to see someone with a dark coat. “I was just bored so I was playing in the water, sorta. The fish in the river are really taste though. I had some earlier.” Her voice was a bit less shaky this time.

“My name is Jolanka by the way. I am new to this area.” She gave him a friendly smile. She hoped that she didn't seem to awkward. Normally she was a bit more calm than this, however because of her lack of social interactions she was finding even the simplest conversations difficult.

Ciaran watched as the tan lioness kept her attention focused on the fish she was playing with. It took her a minute to realize he had spoken to her, and he smiled when she twirled around to see who was near her. The smile widened as he listened to her ramble slightly. "It's fine, I didn't know anyone else would be out here either." Though with as many visitors as the pride had been receiving lately, he should have figured he would run into someone.

While she took the time to explain her actions with the fish to him, he took the time to observe her. Her coat was mostly tan, but the small splash of color made it interesting. He tuned back to what she was saying in time to catch her last comment. He didn't think he would get hungry anytime soon but it was good to know. "Thanks."

When she introduced herself by name, he lowered his head and bowed slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Jolanka. My name's Ciaran. Welcome to this part of the savannah."

"It is very nice to meet you Ciaran." Jolanka said with a smile. It was easier for her to talk to others once she knew that they had no ill intention. He seemed friendly enough and so she allowed herself to relax a bit. "Are you from around here? It's a very lovely place." She said looking around at her surroundings. Her home was once the dessert. When she lived there she felt that everything around her was dying. But not here. There was so much life everywhere.

"I have been traveling for a while and I have seen a lot of places so far. It is really interesting all the different places this land of ours holds. I am very interested in seeing it all, though it might take some time." She realized that she was doing an awfully lot of talking to a lion she just met. "Aw but that's just a young lioness silly dream. It will probably never happen."

She thought about all the places she wanted to go and the adventures she could possible have. Once she had a family though she would probably settle down, she thought. Going on adventures with young ones could be dangerous after all. "How about you? Have you done much traveling?" She asked curiously. It was always nice to find a fellow traveler.

"I'm from near here," he nodded and motioned with a paw towards the direction he had come from. "Just a little further that way." He watched her face as she commented on their surroundings, taking it all in.

As he listened to her go on about her traveling experience, he paid more attention to how she spoke of her adventures than what she was saying. When she commented that her dream to see all of the land they roamed, he shook his head. "I don't think so. As long as you can handle the long treks, I'm sure you could make it. Just because it's a dream doesn't mean it can't happen."

When she turned the topic to him and asked him about his traveling experience, he did his best to remember. "I used to, a while back. I got to see a few places as an adolescent. I found a pride eventually, though, and gave up traveling," he considered how far away he had come from his pride's land and grinned slightly, "Well, for the most part anyway."

"What is your pride like, if you don't mind me asking?" Jolanka asked curiously. "Do they allow visitors? And am I too close to the pride? I don't want to appear as if I am trespassing. If needed I could head away from the pride." She nodded her head. She didn't want to be any trouble.

"I just recently started traveling. I mean, I did say I've been traveling for a while, but it just seemed long to me. I think that if I run across the right pride that I might end my adventure short. I don't want my adventure to end though any time soon." She said. "There are so many different prides that I have come across. If I do settle down it is going to be a difficult choice to pick where I want to stay."

She was shocked when she heard how young he was when he started traveling. When she was an adult she decided to finally leave her family. She couldn't imagine leaving any sooner. "You were so young when you left!" She said. "That is very impressive. How did your family take you leaving? I know my family would have went mental if I had left when I was so young!"

"It's a friendly pride. They enjoy celebrating the four seasons of the year." Ciaran walked closer to her and sat down by the river. "And visitors are always welcome. As long as they don't cause trouble, then myself and the other bouncers have to deal with them."

He winked in her direction. "I highly doubt you would cause any trouble if you did 'trespass'."

He dipped his paws into the water and licked the excess off of his paws as he listened intently to what she had to say. "I agree, it is a difficult choice to make. You have to choose which one is best for you." he replied, "Even though I started traveling young, it took me a while before I found a pride that I preferred."

He noticed her shock at how young he had been when he set out on his own. "I was," he nodded, "but my parents had been in the rogue lands all of their lives. As soon as I became an adolescent, they encouraged me to seek out a place for me to belong so I wouldn't wander all of my life like they did."

"Aw so if I wanted to I could look around the pride if I wanted to?" She was very interested in seeing the pride. It would be fun to see one of the celebrations. She grinned when he winked at her. “Do you think it is reasonable to ask for a tour of the pride? If you are busy with other duties I understand though.” She assumed pride life would make one very busy with different task. Being a bouncer sounded like it would be hard work.

“Yeah, I imagine I won't be able to find the right pride for some time. I don't even know what I want in a pride.” She said with a laugh. “Hopefully I will figure that out sooner than latter. It would be a shame if I pass up my dream pride just because I don't know what I want.”

She thought about how young, how immature she had been when she was an adolescent. The idea of leaving home at the age would be silly for her. She was sure if she had left at that age she would have returned to her parents at some point instead of finding her own pride to stay. “I am glad you were able to find a pride for yourself. I just hope that someday I will be just as lucky.”

"Of course," he replied, his chest puffing out slightly when she grinned at him and at her interest in visiting the pride he belonged to. "I would be honored to show you are whenever you would like to visit. Thankfully everyone is pretty well behaved so far, so my job is mostly just watching. Giving you a tour would be much more beneficial." He took the chance of winking at her once more before looking down at the river and the few fish that were still hanging around.

He shrugged slightly and bent down to take a drink before responding to her again. "Maybe, maybe not. Sometimes you get to one and you just seem to fit. Like its where you're meant to be." He remembered wandering into the Sikkuku pride just barely after he reached adulthood and how it felt to feel at home for the first time since leaving his parents.

Ciaran licked the access water from his muzzle and smiled softly at her. "I'm sure you will; any pride would be lucky to have a lady like you in their pride."

Jolanka grinned. She was so thankful that she was able to meet such a kind lion! "Would you be able to show me around today? I don't plan on leaving this area for a while, so I could really see your pride anytime it is okay for you." She remembered the celebrations. "Oh! Is there going to be any celebrations anytime soon? I would love to be around to see that!"

If there wasn't a celebration going on, she would try to come back and check it out another time. She had never been to a pridal celebration, but she could imagine how massive and wonderful they were. Maybe someday when she had a family she could bring them here to see the celebration, she thought with a smile.

Ciaran stood up and stretched out. "Sure. I could lead you back there to it and show you around," he responded as he tried to remember which of the festivals, if any, was on right now. "I think there might be one going on now. Even if there's not, you could still look around so you know your way around if you decide to visit while there is a celebration going on."

He turned and nodding in the direction he had originally approached from. "Come on," he smiled, "I'll lead the way."
