It was an ongoing quest of Super Sailor Tsui to seek out the forces of Chaos, whether they be the strong and sharp sensation of a Negaverse officer, the more subtle and fluid of the Senshi of the Dark Mirror Court, or the twisted and stomach churning aura of youma. But tonight, she figured that she'd seek out a different aura, one of the White Moon Court, though no one in particular. She had come to the conclusion that though she enjoyed her hunts in solitude, she needed to seek out other allies, and she needed to learn to be a team player, whether she liked it or not.

'I owe Pasiphae and Kallichore that much, at least,' Tsui thought to herself as she carried on her patrols outside of the usual boundaries, though surprisingly enough, NOT seeking out trouble. Not intentionally anyways, though if trouble found her, she'd give them no quarter. She kept her senses on alert, just in case, and moved towards the strongest of the White Moon auras that she could find, bringing her deeper and deeper into the city. 'Unknown territory for me... better make sure I don't get myself lost here.'

Not that she had any plans for what she would do with her ally when she found her or him. Tsui rather enjoyed playing things by ear, and she was willing to try something a little different from her usual routine this evening. That being to simply talk. Maybe pal around with another White Moon senshi, or even a Chibi, or a Knight. The tiger may have preferred to hunt along, but that didn't mean she couldn't have a little fun every now and then...

Most nights, Ganymede took to patrolling the streets with a companion at his side. More often than not, this companion ended up being Valhalla—hitting the streets together directly after class and work before heading home for the evening turned out to be a pretty convenient set-up. Other nights he wandered around with Oberon at his side, coaching the Chibi senshi as best as he knew how, teaching him what he knew of the war and working out what he didn’t, and always, always insisting upon caution and non-violence—at least when it could be helped.

But there were nights when Ganymede decided to go out alone. He never really had a particular reason. Sometimes it was just that his boyfriend and Chibi companion were busy with other things. Other times it was because he needed some time alone—to think and figure things out and come to his own conclusions without anyone else influencing the path his thoughts took.

This evening he’d simply thought to go for a walk to blow off some steam and get some fresh air—if the city air could even be deemed “fresh”—and had powered up somewhere along the way for the sake of a short and hopefully uneventful patrol.

He gave a start as another energy signature pricked at his senses, but settled himself quickly with the knowledge that it was not one of the darker forces that prowled the city. For a little while he kept going, until it seemed as if the aura was ambling in his direction. He couldn’t say for sure if the approach was intentional, but he doubted the other senshi would have missed the strength of an Eternal. Thus, Ganymede paused to wait, peering toward the super senshi once she was finally in view.

“Tsui?” he called when she was close enough to hear him. He took a couple of steps in her direction and looked her over before he could even consider that his staring might be rude. “Oh, hey, you’ve got your super stripes,” he observed. “Not too shabby. Seriously, good job. Power doesn’t make a person who they are, but sometimes it’s totally helpful. I figure we're all doing something right if we manage to get a boost.”

It didn't take long to Tsui to notice Ganymede's signature, and though she could not pinpoint an exact name to that signature, she knew it to be an Eternal Senshi, as it was strong, warm, and potent. Even as a Super rank, she was trying to get a grasp on the whole sensing aura business, but she was able to find the source well enough, and she couldn't help but beam at the sight of a familiar Senshi. "Ganymede! It's been awhile!"

Ganymede was not quite a Senshi that one could forget, and that wasn't even covering the looks department (as Tsui had always admired Ganymede's attire, even though she knew she wouldn't look as good as he did in it). Rather, it was his presence, and Tsui felt the same adoration she had felt when she first meet him at the Jovian meeting. It was also hard to forget someone whom she stood by during the shitstorm that was the meeting with the rest of the White Moon, both in physical position and in political stance, and that had actually made her pause in her approach.

Despite this momentary fear and guilt, she kept her grin as wide as possible, and it was a little too easy for her to soak in the compliment when he had noticed her upgraded rank. "Yeah, I worked hard for these stripes, though, maybe a little too hard. Don't ask how I managed to finally get them, though... it's a long story."

'Not to mention bloody...' Tsui said to herself and only to herself. She recalled Ganymede's and Valhalla's stances, how willing she thought she was to follow, but then, just how quickly she abandoned the thought of peace the moment the Negaverse reared their ugly heads. No, it was not something that Tsui felt that she could get over so quickly, but she didn't want to dwell on it. She was here for a reason!

"So, how are you holding up? I've managed to catch up with Pasiphae and Kallichore recently, and I'd figure I'd see how the rest of the Jovians were doing."

It was a genuine inquiry, as though she prowled the streets along, she did find herself wondering how the Jovians were doing and genuinely being concerned for their safety. Perhaps a bit of them had rubbed off on her after all...

Though Ganymede was immediately curious as to exactly how Tsui had earned her stripes—didn’t long stories tend to be quite interesting?—he chose not to question it since it didn’t appear as if she wished to discuss it with him at this point in time. He could only assume it had been… he didn’t want to say “traumatic” since that seemed to imply that all boosts in power tended to occur with certain consequences he had been lucky enough to avoid himself, but he could definitely imagine plenty of troubling circumstances that could have led to the power increase and striped skirt.

Which turned his thoughts back to a time when he had first achieved his super rank last summer, but that felt like such a long time ago now, and he was once again overcome with feelings that this war had gone on much too long already.

“I’ve been doing alright,” he relied. “Had a few things pop up on the civilian side of things, but to be honest I’d rather deal with stuff there than worry about the war any more than we’ve had to recently. There hasn’t exactly been much to look forward to there. That last battle was…”

He trailed off when he found he was incapable of adequately describing it. “Bloody” would have been a bit of an understatement and “terrible” didn’t even begin to do it justice. He’d been in large-scale battles before—plenty of them, in fact. One of his first had been in Elysion, and his memories of that place were anything but fond. Yet the recent ambush seemed to trump all of that, perhaps coming close to the terror that had been felt at the Surrounding, when all those civilians had died and there hadn’t seemed to be any hope in sight for anyone.

“Well, it was one of the worst I’ve had the misfortune to be a part of,” he finally finished, doing his best to keep a smile on his face as he did so. “It’s good to see you’re doing okay, though,” he added. “I saw Pasiphae a couple of weeks ago, just before school started… made sure Kallichore was alright on the moon, but… I don’t know. I don’t think any of us can really be as ‘alright’ as we say we are. We get by, I suppose. Figure things out as they come.”

"And I can imagine that, given your rank and experience, that you've been through a lot?" Tsui didn't mean to pry, but she simply lacked a filter between what she thought in her head and what came out of her mouth. Though she had finally achieved the Super rank, Tsui knew that she still had quite a ways to go to ever be on the same level as the likes of Kallichore or Ganymede before her, and even then, they still had much experience and the wisdom that came with it that she may never achieve (though, it wouldn't stop her from trying). She tried to imagine any other battles that could have matched that ambush, but to hear Ganymede admit it to being one of the worst he's experienced, perhaps it was impossible to think of a single battle. Well, except maybe the Sailor Wars, but Tsui still knew so little about it to be able to compare. "Well, I'm glad you made it through. I know I probably shouldn't worry, given that you and the others are more than capable of defending yourself and others, but I guess it's a bit of my sister rubbing off on me."

Speaking of others, her mind wondered to the other Jovians and other Senshi she had met and fought alongside at the meeting, and she fought against her guilt to ask about a certain one in particular, one that she suspected was close enough to Ganymede to justify inquiring him about him. "How's Valhalla doing? He's not hurt too bad, right? Because... last I saw him, he stopped me from doing something stupid, and I don't think I'd forgive myself if anything happened to him because of me."

Yes, it was still a big thing on her 'to do' list, to seek out Valhalla and apologize for her actions, but she wasn't exactly sure where to start, or even what to say. The worst possible thing she could do was allow her pride and self-righteous nature get the better of her and try to throw the blame on him, and unjustly so, but Tsui found that her ego and pride were her own worst enemies. Sure, she could openly challenge Negaverse generals and even the General-King himself, but her pride? She needed all the help she could get...

Ganymede would never claim to be wise. Experienced, perhaps, as he’d been around as a senshi for a little less than two years, but in his mind experience and wisdom didn’t always come as a set. Sometimes they did, though there wasn’t a single person that came to mind that he might consider truly “wise.” Other times—most times—experience brought arrogance, conceit, egotism, the expectation that others should fall into line and follow along without question or complaint, the sort of self-importance he often mocked and railed against when he thought himself faced with it.

If Ganymede tried to be anything with his experience guiding the way, he wanted to be genuine. He wanted to say how he thought and show how he felt, to admit when he was wrong and make up for his mistakes, to show pride when he was right but not let it go so far to his head that he became the sort of person he hated. He wanted to show that sadness and fear didn’t equate to weakness, that power wasn’t the same as greatness, nor did it grant authority unless it was used to claim it.

“Val’s fine,” he reassured Tsui, a bright, almost gushing smile working its way across his face despite the more serious path his thoughts had turned down.

He could not recall the confrontation in question. He had spent most of the battle doing his best to protect Oberon and another Chibi senshi, and had only seriously jumped into the larger fray when it had appeared to him as if Kallichore was in grave danger. Everything from that point on had passed in a blur of fear, panic, and revulsion, with the events surrounding it fading into the background.

“I don’t know what happened,” he admitted, “but he doesn't seem like he's mad about it and he wasn’t hurt very badly. Just some bumps and bruises, mostly. Don’t feel bad or anything. Val’s just… he’s a little impulsive, jumps into things without really thinking about it ahead of time, but in the end he’s only trying to help. He’s not going to hold it against you, and no harm came from it as far as I know. If he stopped you from doing something he didn’t think was a good idea, it was as much for you as it was for anyone else. It was worth it to him to stop you, whether or not he ended up getting hurt, because he believes in you. He wouldn’t have bothered if he didn’t. So… don’t be afraid to talk to him about it or anything. Honestly, he looks all big and brawny, but he’s seriously the sweetest guy.”

At this point Ganymede might have appeared a bit starry-eyed, but he at least tried not to look like a completely love-sick sap.

It was the second time that someone had reassured Tsui that Valhalla was not only doing fine but wasn't angry with her, but still, it seemed like something that Tsui would simply have to do herself. It was something she kind of wanted to do anyway, but still, it was a relief to hear that all was well. It was hard not to notice the sincerity behind that smile and Tsui pondered that twinkle that she swore she saw in those eyes of his, but Tsui didn't want to push the envelope. It was simply none of her business how far their friendship might have gone, though it was pleasant to see someone else so genuinely happy, given recent events.

"Well, I hope I get to talk to him eventually at one point. I think I owe him that much..." Tsui stretched her arms, flexing her fingers when the wrappings under her fuzzy garments felt like it was cutting off her circulation. The wound reminded her of her conversation with Pasiphae and once again, Tsui forced herself to remain on topic. Ganymede probably didn't have much time to waste and she didn't want to hold him up for too long. "Say, you're part of the Jovians, so I was wondering if you had any tips on how I could be a better team player. Pasiphae and Kallichore feel I need to be more willing to work with others, more of a team player and not do my patrols alone."

She gave a shrug, revealing some of her inner frustration with the topic at hand but trying not to sound as though she were complaining about her friends in general. "I know they're worried about me and don't want me hurt, but... I'm not exactly one to work well with others. It's not that I'm antisocial or hate anyone... a few I want to punch in the face, yeah, but I guess that's normal. It's just that I prefer to do my patrols alone because I'm a very big risk taker, or I get into a lot of trouble now, more so than I used to, and... I don't want to bring others with me because I don't want them to get hurt."

It took much for her to admit this to anyone else, and she was thankful to be able to admit it to Ganymede. She didn't have the courage to admit this to Pasiphae or Kallichore, and it was the reason why she didn't seek out Sutai in patrols. The thought of her getting hurt because of her... it almost made her shiver.

“You’re not the only one who’d like to punch a few people in the face,” Ganymede said with a laugh. “Granted, most of the people I’d like to punch are other senshi, so maybe I’m not the best person to talk about being a team-player with after all.”

He had had his fair share of issues with the people who were supposed to be his allies. He often found it difficult to sync with their way of thinking, nor was he particularly fond of anyone trying to claim authority he didn’t think they deserved. If they were supposed to be working together, why shouldn’t they work as equals?

That wasn’t to say he was completely incapable of doing so. He’d helped out at the Surrounding even when the decision about the mirrors hadn’t gone his way. He was perfectly capable of arguing with someone one second and watching their back in a fight in the very next. Maybe he’d made some mistakes in that regard before, when he’d first started out, but he had been new and afraid and completely without direction. Now that he had that, now that he knew what he did and didn’t want to do and why, he thought he was much better off for it.

“I’d argue that the very fact that you don’t want to drag others with you only for them to get hurt makes you a pretty good team-player already,” he observed. He didn’t exactly like the idea of her going off on her own either, but not wanting other people to get hurt seemed to be a much better reason for it than just not wanting to work with people at all.

“I used to go off on my own a lot,” Ganymede admitted. “Still do sometimes, obviously, but my reasons were a lot more selfish. I didn’t like what I’d become and I wasn’t really interested in hearing people tell me what I should and shouldn’t do or how I should handle all of this, so I kept to myself and did my own thing because I just didn’t want to deal with a lot of it. It wasn’t until I met Val and got together with the Jovians that I realized that I didn’t have to be alone and that I didn’t want to be.”

It had been a big change for him, one he thought he was still in the midst of, but he was getting better at it. In a lot of ways, he was still learning.

It surprised Tsui to hear Ganymede admit to such a thing, but then again, given how bravely he mouthed off against other Senshi, even ones his own rank and maybe even higher than him in some level at the meeting, she really shouldn't have been surprised. Perhaps she was more surprised to know that there was another Senshi out there like herself, and in turn, that made her feel a little better about the whole situation. At least when she was off on her own, she wasn't technically alone, right? If that made any sense whatsoever.

The way he went on about Valhalla and the Jovians, however, caught Tsui's interest the most, and she did not meant to sound nosy, but she could not contain her curiosity. "So, have you been with the Jovians long, then, or is that development fairly recent? They way you were fighting along with them was pretty cool, like, a natural team. I kind of envy that..."

Yes, she envied the Jovians. She was part of a team as well, but truth be told, she didn't feel like she was. Besides Pippin and Draconis, she hadn't had the chance to meet the others, and while she was willing to go fifty-fifty on the blame, the fact that none of them tried to contact her as well gave her the impression that she simply wasn't needed. But the Jovians... "My team's gone AWOL, but you guys accepted me, both during the Jovian meeting and during that fiasco as well. Standing with you and the others, and fighting along side you guys felt right, but when it comes to nightly patrols, I feel like I'm better hunting alone."

She had confused herself, and self-doubt was a feeling that was usually foreign for the Tiger Senshi. "Does that make any sense? At all?"

Sunshine Alouette
PostPosted: Mon Sep 24, 2012 1:26 pm

“Yeah, it makes sense, I think,” Ganymede reassured her.

He had to admit, at least to himself, that he wasn’t sure what to tell her. As much as he liked being part of a team, and as much as he enjoyed company on his nightly patrols, he knew there were some people out there who operated better on their own. He had at one time. At one point, he’d enjoyed the solitude. Because of that, he didn’t think he was the right person to be telling her what she should do about it. Sure, it was dangerous for her to go off on her own, especially if she enjoyed picking fights, but the fact of the matter was that she was her own person. She was capable of making her own decisions and fighting this war however she chose to.

And he would always fight for that right—to have a choice, to be independent, to be who and what they wanted to be and fight in a way they thought was worthwhile.

“I’ve been with the Jovians since they first started last year. I think it was last August. Wow, it’s been a while,” he observed, thinking back.

It all seemed like it’d happened a long time ago, but it really hadn’t been such a huge stretch of time between the formation of the Jovians and the events of the Surrounding. He supposed, with the level of inactivity that had settled over things recently, at least before the ambush, it was easy to lose track of time.

“So that was a couple of months after I went super, I think,” he continued. “I became a senshi in February of last year, right at the beginning of all that mess in Elysion. I don’t know if you ever heard about that, but it was… pretty terrible, honestly. I met Europa during one of the battles there, and then we ran into each other a few times after that. I guess she was the first Jovian, at least when it comes to the moons. I haven’t met any other one who awakened before her, so I always just assumed. I guess that makes me the second. I know Val and Kallichore came sometime after that. I’m not sure exactly when Pasiphae awakened, but by the time we had our first meeting last August, all of us were there. Obviously we’re not all from the Jovian system either. At least not now. I don’t know how it was in the past.”

He paused to glance at her sheepishly as he realized he’d begun to ramble on about it. “Sorry,” he apologized. “I didn’t mean to get into a lecture about it, I just… I don’t know. They mean a lot to me. I can definitely understand you wanting to go out on your own, and I don’t think you should feel like you can’t, but maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to have some company every once in a while, not just for back up, but… sometimes it’s nice have someone around who accepts you for you. When I first met Val, we scheduled one night a week to patrol together. That’s really all it took was just the one night. It worked for me. You just have to find what works for you and build from it. If you ever wanted to team up sometime, I’m game. I can’t speak for the rest of the Jovians, but if both Pasiphae and Kallichore are worried about you, I figure it’s okay, so you’re always welcome as far as I’m concerned.”

"Oh, you're not lecturing... at least, it didn't sound like you were?" Tsui immediately objected to the very notion of it, and in fact, she was so interested in what he was saying that she almost lost track of exactly what he was saying. Regardless of what he may have been thinking or feeling, Tsui could hear the passion in his voice when he was talking about his allies, something that she wished she could have felt with the Zoo. Besides Draconis, she couldn't even name another member... perhaps the Zoo was merely a figment of her imagination after all? It was a silly thought, but it wasn't enough to break her face with a smile. No, she didn't want him to think that she wasn't taking him seriously; far from it!

"I never heard about Elysion, but I can suspect that nothing good came out of it? I was awakened in... erm... February, so I'm still new to a LOT of things going on. I plan on changing that, though!" She curled her fist, an outward sign of her determination, though it did not last too long. Her mind wondered to Pasiphae and Kallichore, and she grew serious once more. "I thought I'd rather go solo for awhile, seeing how I can focus my full attention on the enemy and the task at hand and not have to worry about dragging others along with me, but..."

This part took a lot for Tsui to admit too, and she did so with Ganymede. One could SEE her pride taking a direct blow, though it was for the best. "I... don't think I can afford to fight on my own for much longer. I've messed up a lot, and by avoiding my friends and allies, I've indirectly hurt them as well by making them worry. And there's someone else now... someone that I really, really want to protect."

Sutai's face came to mind, and though Tsui had glanced away, she could not hide the blush that brightened her cheeks in admitting this. "The thought of anything happening to her because of me... makes me sick. Do I bring her along with me, even though there's danger and she might get hurt, or... do I try to keep her distant and risk ruining our... relationship?"

Sunshine Alouette
PostPosted: Sun Oct 14, 2012 10:44 am

Ganymede easily noticed her blush. Usually he liked to catch things like that so he could needle and tease people, but now was obviously not the moment for that, and he didn’t know Tsui well enough to be able to predict what her reaction might be if he tried. The most he did for now was smile in a way that clearly showed he saw it and suspected what paths and avenues her thoughts and feelings might be taking as she thought of this “her.”

He could always be wrong, and maybe he was, but if she was enough to make Tsui reconsider going it solo, then it had to mean something, even if it didn’t mean exactly what he thought it might.

“Val was hurt once,” he said, trying to explain his position on the matter, forgetting all about awakenings and the Surrounding and Elysion for a moment and simply focusing on this, “when I wasn’t there.”

And that seemed like it had been so long ago, too, when that event as well had only happened just last year. Looking back, he could remember it clearly—a phone call late at night, Chris’s voice over the line, the mad rush to the hospital, a place he associated with so many bad things now, and then taking care of him, nestling close and wishing the war would just end and they could go back to being normal. Now there was little to show for it, just the scars and the memories.

“I would have wanted to be there, I think,” Ganymede continued, “even if it wouldn’t have made much of a difference, even if he would have been hurt anyway, even if I would have been hurt, because at least then I could have tried to help, I could have tried to stop it. Sometimes I think it’s a little selfish, that I’d rather him be hurt when I’m around than when I’m not, but I’d rather know, I’d rather have the chance to try protecting him and keeping him safe, than having no control over it at all. I know he’s not going to quit, that he’ll keep going until all of this is done, so… being with him, helping him, fighting with him… it’s the best I can do. It’s all I know how to do, really. I’d be more afraid for him if I couldn’t see, if I didn’t know where he was or who might be hurting him, and… I know he feels the exact same way…”

Tsui was enthralled with Ganymede's story, though not in the good kind of way. What he was describing was a growing fear of Tsui's, and yet, she knew that it could have easily have happened to her. Or, has happened to others, and she was the one that harmed them... no, she didn't want to think about that. She pushed the thought to the back of her mind, not wanting to disrespect the older Senshi and taking in everything he had to say.

Once he was done, Tsui felt a sense of clarification within her, one that she had been fearing to hear, but somehow, knowing that she needed to hear it. She gave a resigned sigh, but it did not last long. If it meant the safety to her friends, and Sutai, she'd simply have to change her patrols... change habits. Because the thought of Sutai or her friends getting hurt and she not being there to help them, support them or defend them, terrified her more than dragging them into the pits of hell with her. "Then I suppose the tiger must find a way to hunt in packs..." She said softly, making it uncertain if Ganymede was meant to hear it or not.

She looked up at him and wore nothing but a confident smile, and her next request was genuine. "So, are the Jovians looking for another Senshi?"

Sunshine Alouette
PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2012 6:32 pm

“I think we’re always looking for another Senshi,” he replied, smiling as well.

Not that he was one-hundred percent sure about that, but he was at least confident enough that he could predict a few of his teammates responses to give some sort of an answer to her question, vague as that answer may end up being. He was not well-practiced in recruitment. He’d brought Val along a year ago—not much of an accomplishment, when Val had offered the roof of his apartment building as a meeting place—and encouraged Sessrumnir to join up with them as well, but beyond that…

Ganymede could not pretend to be the team’s best spokesperson, or even a very good representation of what they were as a group. He left that to Europa who was experienced, or Kallichore who was discerning, or Pasiphae who was sweet and welcoming and the sort of person Ganymede sometimes wished he was capable of being. Instead he was loud, and opinionated, and argumentative, and he turned people away more than he brought them into the fold, but to someone who wanted it, to someone who might need it as much as he’d needed it, he would never say “no.”

“Some of the others… I don’t know them as well as I know Kallichore and Pasiphae and Val, but I like to think they’d agree with me on this, or at least be willing to give you a chance,” he said. “I’ll vouch for you. I honestly can’t say how someone goes about joining. I don’t think we ever figured that out too well, but I’m not going to turn you away. I’d like it if you did join. We could always use another ally, and I think… maybe it might help you, too…”

It’d helped him, got him where he was today, because even when he wasn’t with the Jovians, even if his battles happened without them, he still knew they were there. He knew he could depend on them, and sometimes—most times—that knowledge was enough to get him through.

Tsui wasn't sure why she felt so nervous to ask such a simple question, one that she was certain that Kallichore and Pasiphae might have answered that question; Kallichore especially would have been pleased to hear her intentions of joining the Jovians. But for some reason, she felt like she had to ask someone else, someone who she came to respect and look up to, despite their brief encounters. Still, it was a load off of her mind, and Tsui could do nothing to keep that relief to herself as it reflected in her smile. "It'd be a way for Kallichore to keep an eye on me and make sure I'm not running off doing something stupid to get myself in danger... like I have been. And besides, I've seen you guys in action, both when discussing politics and in action... and I respect that. A whole lot more than those that boast about how great their team is but then don't do a damn thing to help when the time comes!"

She didn't need to say who she was referring to, but she tried to let that subject go. No, they were all members of the White Moon Court, and they certainly didn't need anymore infighting among themselves. Besides, she didn't really know them enough to make a justified judgment, but it was too late to take back her words. For now, she'd simply have to move forward from that and rise above it, she told herself. "I'd be honored to be a part of the Jovians, just tell me who I need to talk to, and I'll do whatever I can to help the team and the rest of the White Moon Court. Even if all I can do is plow the way with my fists and boots."

Tsui was a fighter, not a lover, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try. Speaking of, she wasn't even sure why she was going to ask Ganymede this, but she had a feeling that he might be able to help her on this other 'problem' she had. Not that it was a real problem, but it was something that she needed guidance in. "Um, so, Ganymede... suppose there was someone you liked, more than a comrade or a friend... but you've never really been the type to show such emotions, you know, in fear of looking weak. How would you tell that person that you... might like them. Like that?"

It was such a frustrating sensation to not to be able to address the subject openly. Coy and nervous was simply NOT Tsui's style, but how else was she suppose to act when she wasn't exactly sure of the emotions churning within herself? She was sixteen years old! A virgin with no boyfriend, or girlfriend, before... much less one of an interesting stature as Sutai. She felt foolish, but she couldn't back down now.
