Nocturne was laying down in the shade of a large tree almost asleep. The sound of the wind crossing the low grasses was the only noise to be herd. The male Me’urra had left her some time ago and now she was strangely missing the sound of movement near her. She didn’t like the talking per say but the presence of another next to her had been a comforting thing. Being all alone was something she had known all her life and so when she had gotten used to another near her it made a mark that would not easily fade with just the turn of a few days. Her eyes were closed and she could feel the light of the sun just a few inches from her hoof.

Bastett snuck away from her father and siblings in the dim light of the morning. Her small side braid slipped into her eyes and she shook her mane out to get it out of the way, praying to Ra it wouldn't rattle as she snuck out. Finally out of the hearing range of her protective father, Bastett let out a sigh of relief and picked up her pace. She loved her family.. but they were so stifling! She just needed to breath, make new friends, meet new people.. Just because her father had died... Bastett blinked her eyes as she looked up at the sky and the rising sun. "Grandfather Ra... you are watching over Tylion, yes?" She asked softly, smiling as the sun shone brighter. Of course he was.. Tylion had been the love of Rameses's life, no matter how brief it had been. She kept her smile as she kept going, peering around at the little buggies around her wondering when she'd run into another that would be willing to play.

Noise. The small odd sound that didn’t belong. She wasn’t sure where it was coming from but Nocturne knew something out of place was coming. One eye slowly opened up. Her emerald gaze seeking out the new source of displeasure. Not seeing anything right away she closed her eye and tried to drown out the sound. It was odd and carried. Curling up tighter she figured she would be able to shut it out if she focused on other things enough. Trying hard she just couldn’t seem to manage with a frustrated grunt she stood up and glared around her. Nothing. Still hearing the noise she started to walk around the tree. No sooner had she rounded a quarter of the tree she saw the source. It was another Azrein. The noise was coming from something tangled in her mane. The other Azrein didn’t even seem to notice it. Perhaps she didn’t care if it made noise or not after all there were many like Me’urra who didn’t care how annoying talking to much could be. She kept watching the other Azrein not sure if she should offer to help untangle the noisemaker or not.

Bastett barely heard the small jangle of her hair piece as she giggle and pounced on a little pebble beneath her hooves. She could tell why Rameses had named her after the cat-goddess. Bastett felt like a cat-goddess.. she loved cats.. and had a bunch of charact...somethings like cats.
Bastett shook her head as her hair thing jingled. It was a comforting sound to her... it was the first thing she heard and recognized about her father Rameses when she was born.
The little brown ball of energy stopped her playfullness when a dark shape caught her attention. Her teal eyes focused underneath the tree ahead of her, until she made out the shape of a small filly, like herself. Oh boy a friend! Hi!" She called warmly.

Keeping in the shade of the tree Nocturne watched as the other azrein swung its head around making even more noise. Wincing she wondered how the noise didn’t drive the other to distraction. Perhaps it had since she had just witnessed the other foal hop on what to Nocturne appeared to be nothing. She fidgeted in place once more torn between staying hidden and going and ripping that thing out of the other’s mane. Any choice she would have made was rendered useless when she saw the other look up at her and then call out to her. The voice was clear and pitched like a birds. Nocturne’s body gave a start of surprise. She hadn’t wanted to be noticed. She backed up a few steps so that she was hidden by the tree again and did what she had done so many times before. She closed her eyes. Perhaps the other Azrein wouldn’t notice. Me’urra had but he was odd.

Bastett cocked her head to the side, her little piece jingling again. This wasn't what she had expected of a new friend. Certainly not at all. She crept forward a few paces, and called out to the filly, thinking maybe she just hadn't heard Bastett. "Hellooooooooo." She called again, not as loud as last time, but she drug it out for more effectiveness. "I'm Bastett! Wha's your name?" She asked curiously.

More noise. It seemed this one wasn’t going away either. She sighed. Why did they not go away now? All of them had been perfectly willing to ignore her when she had the blanket. Why did that have to change? She peeked out from behind the tree and stared at the other Azrein. Bastett? What kind of name was that? She just kept staring not bothering to answer the question. How did she get the other filly to go and take the noise maker with her?

Bastett tilted her head to the side. "Hello? Can you talk?" Bastett got closer and sat down like a dog, her braid jingling again as she gasped. "Are you a muuutee!? That's okay. I will still be your friend!!" She giggled and peered at the little filly that was her new friend.

Mute what was that? Nocturne winced at the term friend. She already had one and didn’t need more. “enough, too loud.” As fast and as excited as the other Azrein was it was giving Nocturne a headache. And the giggling. She didn’t think she had ever heard so much giggling.

Bastett gasped again. "You can talk!" She yell-whispered to her new friend. "Wha's your name?!" She added, trying to keep her excitement down. It seemed her new friend didn't really like loud noises.

Of course she could talk. She didn’t know an Azrein who couldn’t talk. The loud whisper was still offensive to her ears but less so then the loudness from before. She didn’t really feel like giving her name but she doubted this one would stop until she heard it. Just like that annoying Me’urra. “Nocturne Shadowspirit.”

The feeling was not mutual. She grimaced as she looked at the other filly. Why was she so damn bouncy. Shaking her head Nocturne started to walk away.

Bastett frowned as the other filly turned to walk away. Hesitantly she followed the other female, her hair jangles jingling her approach. "Nocturne? Are you okay?"

If she kept walking would the other filly ask again? Most likely the bouncy type seemed to like doing that. “Fine, bored.” She kept going trying to tune out the jingle of the thing the other filly had on her.
