Silently through the twilit forest, Samsara stalked her prey. This was no whimpering soquili that she hunted. It seemed that most anything that could think and reason had long since reasoned their way out of Samsara's immediate territory. She only rarely found interlopers now of the soquili or human variety and they were always travelers, never someone making a permanent home. It hadn't taken long for the general populace of the area to catch on that this was no longer somewhere they wanted to stay.

That evening she was instead hunting something a little more mundane. She stalked the tracks of one of the mountain sheep with the heavy curled horns. She hadn't expected to find one this far away from the rocky slopes, but she was ready to enjoy the unexpected boon all the same. She heard the sound of footfalls ahead of her and knew she was drawing close. Soon she would have her meal, and another skeleton to add to her growing collection.

The batwalker looked around quietly, her injuries while healed, still caused her some pain. Those clawed creatures of the forest had gotten a huge advantage of her, and someday she hoped to one day get revenge on them. A sweet and bloody revenge. In the meantime though, she wandered, avoiding the trees and staying in the open. She hadn't transformed into her batform in a long while, her wings still not ready for flight. And if they weren't ready for flight, they certainly weren't ready for fighting either.

Neva cared not if she wandered into another's territory. She never claimed her own territory, and so she saw no reason as to why a predator would stake out a territory. It seemed to be a disadvantage. Especially after the prey learned of your presence and made their way out, and you were left traveling anyways to hunt. Also, if you stayed in one place, it was easier for those who hunted, to find you. The starry colored skinwalker kept walking, but was always on the lookout for the presence of another.

From her shelter she could see the sheep staring around with its liquid brown eyes. It hadn't sensed Samsara, otherwise it would be long gone. It looked around and nibbled on a leaf, the very picture of obliviousness. Samsara licked her lips. Now was the time. She took a silent step forward... and the sheep bolted.

It wasn't her from which the sheep ran. There was another sound that sent it scurrying off. Samsara let out a sharp snarl of frustration and wrenched herself through the bushes she had been hiding behind. If something or someone was going to interfere with her hunting, she would just have to switch her target.

"You," she hissed to her seemingly empty surroundings. "Are you going to come out and face me, or shrivel away and hide like a coward?" A sneer wrinkled her lips. "Either way, I'll find you..."

Neva's ears picked up on another's voice carrying on the wind. One that sounded really angry. She smirked, as she listened to the voice, asking if whoever it was, would come out and face them or run away. This batwalker never ran from a challenge, even if that challenge almost killed her.

"Find me? I think not. There is no point in searching if I'm willing to show myself." And with that, Neva stood out in the open, where she saw a rather interesting looking walker. One that appeared older than those that she has encountered before now. "Now that I've revealed myself, tell me why you are so angry? It couldn't be because you lost a meal is it?" Her voice had almost a sing-songy tune to it, almost goading the other walker on.

Another skinwalker! Samsara fixed the stranger with a piercing single-eyed stare. Their kind were more rare than angeni. Samsara had met few over others the course of her long life, and had only encountered one more than once. This mare wore the pelt of a bat. Immediately Samsara was brought back to the one other time she had met a skinwalker with a bat pelt. She had been so much younger then, barely able to hold her own against a violent stranger. She recalled those beating wings and disorienting shrieking. If this skinwalker thought she could use those same tricks, she would find herself grievously out-matched. And there was definitely going to be a fight. Samsara wouldn't tolerate such insults without answer.

"Do you think you're funny?" hissed Samsara, glaring. "Do you find your little jabs amusing, perhaps?" Her tail, long and powerful, twitched slowly back and forth behind her. "Go ahead and laugh. Laugh now, because it might be difficult for you to laugh again once I've torn your windpipe out." The tension in her body clearly indicated that she was prepared to leap into combat immediately. She was angry, and the young fool of a skinwalker before her would pay.

The batwalker stared at the other walker and snorted. "You? Tear my windpipe out? I'm sure you would love to think you're that good. But I doubt you are." Oh, a fight was going to happen, and she was prepared for it. Perhaps the encounter with those stupid harpies would pay off after all. She just needed to be careful with how she fought, that's all.

Her muscles tensed, as she waited for the initial attack. She would let this other walker make the first move, wanting to get a feel for her abilities. If she could get an idea on the abilities of this walker, maybe she would stand a chance of not re-injuring herself. The pains she still felt from her healed injuries kept reminding her, that she wasn't what she used to be. But maybe this would be a good fight and she would win. Either way, Neva was not going to back down from this fight.

Samsara let out a feline yowl. She wasn't in the mood for any more conversations. She needed to tear this fool down to size and needed to do it now! Maybe she'd even get herself a meal. She'd never tried to eat a fellow skinwalker before and wondered how it would taste. And if they died in their animal form, would their corpse revert back? Now seemed like an excellent time to find out.

"You'll regret those words, and swiftly."

Her muscles bunched, giving only a brief warning that she was about to strike. Then, Samsara was moving. Her wings could have helped her move faster but she kept them tightly folded. She wouldn't let them get damaged by some amateur idiot. Her body surged with strength and elder power. She wasn't going to hold back. Her first move was a bold one, jaws aiming to clamp around her opponent's throat. Her threats were never idle ones.

If the elder thought that she could get an easy meal, she was mistaken. For fighting with the harpies had tuned her into quick moves. Her eyes constantly watching the subtle movements of muscles preparing to attack. Just like fighting with the harpy in the trees, this was going to prove an interesting fight. An a valuable lesson as well. This would go to prove if she can still fight, or if she will break open her wounds, and therefore not be able to fight for a long while.

Neva barely dodged the mare's attack, lashing out with her hooves as she got out of the elder's snapping teeth. This was not going to be an easy fight though, but with the things she took from the fight with that bloody bird in the forest, she hoped her agility, and her concentration on noticing subtle moves and the likes, would aide her in this encounter. To her, this was just a game. A way to test herself, to see if she would be able to eventually go back to her old way of doing things. Or would she have to develop something new? Only the next few minutes would tell, and she was going to do everything she could to survive them.

So the other mare had some speed about her. She wasn't as ungainly as her over-sized wings made her appear. Samsara saw that she had perhaps misjudged her prey, but she still had no doubts. She knew she would be more than able to tear a wing off this mare, or kill her, or do anything else she liked. It just might take a little more effort to get to that point. The mare's attack came at Samara from the side she still had vision on. If the batwalker had attacked from her other side she might have succeeded, but luck was not with her tonight.

"Too slow!"

Her opponent had some nice moves, but Samsara had fought more enemies than she could recall with skills just as high. The hooves dealt her no more than a glancing blow off the pelt that covered her face. Ducking, she whirled sideways to the mare's flank. That was where those beating wings were, but Samsara had thought of a cure for those. She snapped at the mare's side but kept her head tilted downwards. From this position her horns pointed upwards, waiting to impale a wing if the batwalker dared to try to bring it down on her.

If anyone were watching from the distance, at first glance it would look like a very fancy dance they were doing. A very fast paced one. But if they dared to get closer, they would see that there were two walkers fighting. An elder and a cursed. Bat and feline. Neva kept her wings tucked in as close as she could, only flaring them out to keep her balance when needed. Her injuries were causing her pain as she fought and whirled about, but she refused to let them hinder her.

A horn grazed a part of Neva's wing and she grimaced, but in return she lashed out with a claw of the other wing, hoping to perhaps gain a scratch on the eye or the sensitive part of the ear. Her teeth snapped at the mare's pelt, the teeth and fur, she hoped to rip off, as the pelt was attached to the mare just like her own, and would cause some own pain in itself.
