Memories of the Peka Na were never too far away. Hunakai had spent all her life in the pack up until this point. She'd been sheltered and raised to be part of the pack. For a while her life as Brightstripe worked well in her favor. However, she felt cramped. The female felt a need for taking charge. Moving up in the Peka Na was not enough. She wanted her own life. Maybe even her own pack later on. At least her own family.

The clawing alpha female tendencies clawed at her more and more. That was why she left. She'd not asked her three other companions to come with her. That was on them. They'd followed her out on their own. No guilt could be felt by Hunakai for those who chose to follow on their own.

So far things were going pretty well. All of them were highly trained through the Peka Na so survival was never an issue. Specially with four well trained wild dogs working together. She had her sisters with her. One of them biological the rest figurative. They were all working together.

Still. Hunakai couldn't help but feel a little aimless in their endeavors. Purpose was missing. Some nights the wild dog actually considered going back home to the Peka Na. Home sickness set in quite a bit. Not to mention the more competition the rogue lands had. They did not own their own hunting grounds but rather shared it with various predators. Leopards, Cheetahs and worst of all Lions to name only a few. The strength of the pack was no longer with them.

They survived anyways.

Kaiaka followed Hunakai out of the pack lands gladly. Not because she disliked the pack, quite the opposite. The female had grown up among the pack and loved her brothers and sisters. However, the chance to spread her wings a little was all to tempting for the young female. She wasn't THAT young anymore after all.

So she followed after Hunakai. Her mother had followed after her as well. Something about to many dangers on the out side with out pack protection or what ever. The dark female couldn't actually remember it was not important any ways.

At first the life of a rogue had been completely fun but soon they four realized the challenges of living with out the pack. At least three out of the four were surprised. Rainingsun was not among the surprised. Her mother had a knowing grin on her maw which made Kaiaka feel a little uneased.

That didn't mean they were about to turn tail and go back.

Still a little word of encouragement from Hunakai helped some times. Kaiaka sought her out and found her off on her own. It looked as if she was having deep thoughts of her own. The female approached very quietly.

Kaiaka's paw steps were quiet and swift. Hunakai almost did not notice her approach. She turned her head at the right moment to see the dark wild dog approaching and gave a nod of approval. The wild dogs eyes met briefly before Hunakai turned her head to look back in to the nothingness.

"Is something the matter?" Seemed to be the logical question. Hunakai knew if she was feeling her own doubts then those that followed probably harbored them as well. They were close. They were sisters after all.

Kaiaka's confidence never faltered. She approached with confidence even when Hunakai asked the obvious. Was something the matter? Kaiaka could only think there were doubts.

"You've asked the question so why not tell me," She took a seat beside Hunakai. "It is a worry we share. Is it not."

Hunakai grinned at this accusation. Kaiaka was sharp and now it shown brightly like a freshly unsheathed knife. Cutting right to the point and wasting no time to get there. Hunakai had to admire this of Kaiaka. The female stayed silent for a moment and let her thoughts rumble along a bit longer.

"Doubt." She finally came out and barked. "Doubt is thick with our group. Home sickness." She turned to Kaiaka. "Do you think we'd be better off if we turned our tails and padded back to the pack." Her tone was flat and unquestioning. It was more of a statement than a question. Her gaze fell harshly on to Kaiaka. Hunakai awaited her sisters judgement.

"Brightstripe I don't mean to be offensive." The female looked upwards. Hunakai's gaze was harsh and a bit intense. Kaiaka couldn't take that look.

"I don't think that going back is the way. What I mean is..." She flatly turned her head to face Hunakai.

Hunakai grinned hearing her pack name.

"What you mean is that you're unsure why we are out here. I have to say I don't know my self some times. I feel there is a reason. There has to be a reason but I do not know why." Hunakai looked up else where.

"You followed me and for that I am grateful but I can not promise a purpose. I know that I needed to go. I do not know why. Stronglilac has had visions of this for a very long time."

"What sort of visions..." Kaiaka couldn't hide her distaste. Deep down she knew that they had no plan but hearing Hunakai speak of no plan so freely was a little unsettling. It was like she didn't really care that she'd dragged three of her sisters out here with her.

They could turn tail and head back now but that would be giving up. Not something Kaiaka was willing to do on a personal level.

"That one day I would leave the pack." She did not move her head to face Kaiaka, "Beyond that she and I do not know. But I plan to find out. I hope you do not believe I forced this on you." She then turned, "You did after all follow on your own."

Even if what was spoken was true it still bothered Kaiaka quite a bit. The female stayed stiff.

"You are right to some extent." She looked up. "We came. We wanted to protect you. We cared enough to put our lives on the line and leave behind all we love. You act as if this is nothing."

Hunakai stiffened a little. Was she being insensitive? Yeah. Even if she spoke the truth that didn't mean she was being fair.

".."

This was a little awkward now. The air was stiff.

"I want to find my purpose."

The answer still wasn't completely satisfying but Kaiaka could tell that Hunakai was sorry for her arrogant tone. She nodded.

"That at least is not fruitless." She got up and stretched, turning her back to Hunakai.

"This journey is not so meaningless then."

Hunakai said nothing. She only waited for Kaiaka to take her leave before she released a heavy drawn out sigh. It was true. At least this wasn't completely pointless. But now what she was blocking from her heart could not be blocked. She was responsible for these three other wild dogs. They might have chosen to go with her but it was only because they were of pack. They did it out of love. She was being the selfish one here.

But no more. She'd strive to find that purpose and make her sisters proud to be apart of this journey.
