Appearance: Standing at five foot, eleven, Shea isn’t a small man, but he secretly laments that lost inch that would make him that even six foot. If he were less outdoorsy, his skin would be considerably fairer and unblemished, but many a day spent out in the field and forest has left him with swarthy, weather-beaten skin, particularly so on his face, hands, and a little on his forearms. He has middling dark brown hair, thick and wavy, that he tends to keep relatively short although a tad shaggier than what is usually fashionable. Not that he really cares all that much what is fashionable at the moment. His hair tends to look tousled and wind-swept whether it actually is or not.
Personality:
History: Only child to a father that he never knew, aside from what his grandmother tells of him, and a mother that he sometimes has trouble remembering. His mother, born Elie Avena Quinn, married his father, Rowland James Sullivan, at the age of seventeen after their initial meeting at a dance. Their courtship lasted almost a year. Once wed, Elie moved into her husband's home within Oldcastle. They were very happy together and there was much love between them. Elie became with child within that first year of their marriage. Some months into the pregnancy, Rowland was called to do some work in Palisade. In a foray into the western portion of the city, Rowland ran afoul of a thief and ended up getting stabbed. While he did receive some medical care, he didn't last more than a week and news of his death was sent off to his pregnant widow.
The news was hard on the now eighteen year old Elie and not wanting to raise a child alone, as well as not wanting to go into seclusion in the house that held so many memories, she returned to her mother's home. There she received all the comfort and care she needed in her time of mourning. She gave the home to Rowland's brother, a sort of belated wedding present, for which she was given a bit of money in return. Elie's mother, a widow herself, a hedgewitch, and a midwife, did her best to offer care and solace to her daughter. When the time came, she helped deliver her own grandson. He was named Shea Hackett Sullivan.
Shea's earliest days were filled with stories, songs, and being surrounded by the out of doors. He was regularly taken to Oldcastle by his mother and grandmother. Late in the autumn of his fifth year, his mother grew ill and come spring time she passed away. She was buried next to her husband in a cemetery in Oldcastle. The boy continued to live with his grandmother in her home outside of Oldcastle, watching her practice her craft and helping around the house. He regularly played out in the fields around his grandmother's house and occasionally worked up the courage to play inside of the nearby forest, never for very long. Shea learned how to read, write, and count from his caregiver. From some friends and his somewhat more well to do cousins, he picked up some things of their education, but nothing major. Most of his learning came from his grandmother and his exploration outside. As he grew, he grew to come very familiar with the workings of the wilds. By the age of twenty, he fell into the employ of a well to do landowner as a gamekeeper. Shea was given the gamekeeper's cottage on his employer's land and the young man began to set himself up a life there, growing some of his own vegetables, keeping a couple of goats and chickens. A year or two later, he bought Leigh, a big mutt with shaggy semi-wiry fur, to accompany him his is comings and goings in town and in the field.
