Roll a Nine: Seashore Field: Split down the middle between land and sea, this field compliments land and water type pokemon. On the west end of the field is the land section: fine grained sand gradually slopes downward to meet the salt water on the east end of the battleground. A single palm tree wavers lightly in the breeze while shells are scattered in random places in and on the sand. In the water half of the battleground, the water laps at the sand much like at a real beach; when it retracts it leaves behind strands of seaweed and pieces of coral. Both are found under the water, offering shelter for water-types (or those who can hold their breath for great periods of times). This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GROUND and WATER type attacks.

Lyle trotted out onto the battlefield, with Spinel riding on his hat. But this time the Sableye wouldn't be fighting; his daughter would be instead. Lyle's new Gastly, Hematite floated alongside, looking around at the field.

Lenore walked into the stadium, Mephistopheles at her side. The duskull floated down to the sandy beach below.

He bowed before the gastly. "Greetings. My name is Mephistopheles, but you may call me Mephisto if you so choose. I shall be your opponent for this battle. Good luck."

Hematite looked over at Mephisto, then floated toward him, smiling broadly. <"Hi, I'm Hematite! This is my first battle!"> she said, bobbing back and forth in the air.

"Soften him up with a Shadow Ball," Lyle told her. He was eager to see how well she'd do, and from the feel of Spinel wiggling in his head, so was the Sableye.

Hematite gathered an orb of dim energy in front of her before shooting it at the Duskull.

Mephistopheles staggered as the shadow energy sank into his cloak, weakening it's integrity. He immediately counterattacked with the same.

<"Nice shot!"> Spinel cheered when Hematite's attack hit. He was less pleased when the attack was returned.

Well that just canceled his attack, and it could keep happening. Time to switch tactics. "Confuse Ray," Lyle said.

Hematite gathered herself together, then shot a beam of multicolored light at her opponent.

Mephistopheles quickly disappeared, and suddenly appeared before Hematite. His eye glowed commandingly.

Imprison? Lyle had to pause and remember what that one did. Was that one one that could stop her from using moves he knew? Better use moves he wouldn't know, then. "Ice Punch!"

Since she lacked hands, a knot of her smoke gathered just to one side of her. It glowed blue as she drove it toward the other ghost.

Hematite gathered darkness around her before releasing it in a shadowy wave.
