Finally Inari was here- she could tell by the scent of the sea and the beginning of the sights of cliffs. Yes, this was the beginning of a new start for her- one with adventure, selfishness, and no guilt about any of it! There would be no doubt- that was the way to live life. Taking what you want when you want from others... and being rowdy all the time... It was actually kind of like she'd been training for it her whole life.
She padded onward towards the borders of the Stormborn, eager to prove her worth, blue eyes searching for a pride member to challenge, as she knew was customary.

Bousvor had found himself posted at one of the rogue gates. One that aparently got a lot of attention from challenging rogues. If what he'd heard was anything to go by. He had stationed himself alertly near the front. Several rogues lounging a bit further out were watched between letting his eyes roam. His tail twitched and swatted at a bug that had decided to bite his leg.
He noted a female come into range from the rogue lands. Passing by? Lost? Challenging? Bousvor got the feeling she wasn't either of the first two. She didn't have that bewilder look those lost had. Still he didn't move. This was what he was here for after all. If she came to challenge then he would meet her.

As the lioness approached she saw that a tan lion with a white mane... She could tell both from his position and his stance that he was one of those she should challenge. What she had heard was true- these lions looked strong- but this truth would not deter the darker lioness. No challenge would, she was always up for a test. She hoped that she could muster forth all she needed to successfully join.
She called up to him. "I'm here for the challenge, I believe I'm in the proper place!" She wasn't sure whether there was any preamble to the spar, so she started to expect it to start at any moment.

He was privately pleased when his guess proved correct. Now he turned his full attention on her. All other rogues were forgotten. Bousvor tensed himself for the fight that was about to happen. In fact it wasn't that long ago he'd been in the same position. Now he was defending the pride. It would be his first challenge as a member.
"Welcome to the challenge," he said simply and leaped for her. Claws outstretched, he aimed for her shoulders. Though he didn't notice it, rogues and reavers alike turned to watch. He would make her work for the right to enter here. If she had it she would pass; if not, he'd send her away.

As she had expected, little preamble. The lioness had a number of expectations for this challenge- she expected to receive no mercy on any basis- gender, size, anything. She also expected the challenge to be difficult. One thing she had not expected... was the speed of her opponent. Her reaction time was just a little too slow as the Stormborn launched himself at her, claws out. She tried to dodge, but was much too late- she felt the warm sting of pain as his claws sunk straight into their target, her shoulder. She snarled in pain and writhed carefully to hopefully unlatch his claws. If she was successful... The first thing on her mind would be to add distance between them- but that thought would have to come only after, if she managed to escape from his attack.

Bousvor felt his claws find purchase. He used his hold to pull her close. Just as he was about to bite the nape of her neck, she squirmed off his claws. He gave a roar and circled around. His next targets were her flanks. He was testing her reactions, and weaknesses. The tawny male narrowed his eyes. He gave a glance at her bleeding shoulder to fake her out then made a pounce for her back legs.

The lioness was more than grateful to get a little distance- she took just a moment to be mentally thankful for that fact- her shoulder burned with pain, but she did what she could to ignore it. She would certainly guard it for now- she knew that if things turned south, she'd need to come back and challenge again- and she did not want to get a handicapped shoulder.
And just like that, he was eyeing her shoulder- she moved slightly to defend it, and was frustrated when he went for her back legs instead. The lioness growled a small growl, mostly in frustration with herself. You're sharper than this, pull it together! she thought angrily to herself as she felt the tan male connect with her flank. She tried to take the opportunity to take a swipe at anything she could connect with, but she knew as she attacked that the angle between them was wrong, and she knew that if it connected- it would be weak.

He wondered what she'd expected when she came to challenge. Perhaps she was enthralled with the glory of a life like this. He was here to disillusion her if that was the case. His bait was taken as she guarded her wounded shoulder. Bousvor mangaged to use to his attack on her flanks to send her into a spin. Her swipe resulted in a glancing blow off his side. Thankfully his fur protected him mostly, but he could feel a couple of scratches. She had sharp claws if she could bring them into use.

It had been a simple trick- one that she'd seen before, no less. Her frustration with herself hazed her actions, but her spirit was undeterred. It was this or a boring life in the roguelands- she had no option but to fight as hard as she could. That being said, she felt another pain- this one in her flank- that knocked off her balance. Between her shoulder and her flank, the lioness was easily sent spinning, and she took a moment to regain her balance. As soon as she could, she launched forward sending out another swipe his way, reach fully extended, though she was uncertain of the power she could send with it- her wounded shoulder was the brace for her attack as she was using her other paw to hopefully land a hit.

Light Atago Do a last post to wrap it up if you like. <3 Bousvor knew the fight was coming to an end. For whatever reason, she didn't seem at her peak today. He still wasn't going to show any mercy. The lioness recovered from the spin he'd sent her into. Automatically he braced for the retaliation. It came in a half-hearted swipe from her paw. Immediantly, he spotted the opening her attack gave him.
He gave a decisive roar and bustled forward. Taking a deep cut to his chest, Bousvor bowled the lioness over with his size and pinned her under his front paws. He took a moment standing still, then stepped back. Hurting her seriously wasn't his intention.
"The duel is over. I'm sorry, you've lost. Please train then you may try again." He stood, watching her to be sure she left.

Inari was glad to feel an attack land on his chest, but it wasn't long-lived. She quickly found herself being spun again, but now around a different axis. The lioness grunted and looked into the face of her opponent in dismay as she found herself on her back under his weight. Her expression was highly displeased and Inari wasn't much of one to hide those emotions. Although, deep inside, she hoped that the Stormborn would know that she only wore the expression aimed at herself, not at him. This fight was not exactly characteristic of her- she wondered whether or not her training was really enough.
"Thanks." She said flatly, again, the same hope in her head. She rose to her feet as she was let up and paced away at as quick of a walking pace she could muster- teeth gritted behind her lips in pain. She had to keep up her appearance until she was out of eyesight before she allowed a limp to take hold- she would have to heal herself for a while before returning for another try. But one thing was certain: she would be back. She was certain of it- she had iron in her blood.
