Makali was excited- today he was going to get to hang out with his favorite lions on all of the savannah. It had been much too long since last time he had hung out with both of them at once, he wondered what sort of trouble they would get into today… He padded happily towards the meeting place, tail swishing lightly behind him with every step. Yes, and the weather was perfect for it, though rain threatened to encroach on their encounter… It was hard to tell if it would hit them or not. He reached the spot where they were to meet and sat on his haunches, tail curling around his paws, ear flicking lightly to fight off a particularly persistent fly.

… A fly that was going to make him get up. The grey lion snapped at it in an attempt to make it go away or to eat it!

It would be good to see Makali again! Chokuto of course always managed to keep entertained, but he did mist his best pal. He saw Wingu a bit more, but she had recently gotten busy with… er, stuff. Chokuto was quite glad he was not female.

For her part, Wingu had managed to rope Kwasi’roho into babysitting the cubs. Of course she got the stink-eye for it, as Kwasi already though she wasn’t a very good mother, but she had been doing her best and deserved a little break to chill with friends!

The white female was the first to set eyes on Makali as he attempted to ward away a fly, and with a grin began to sneak his way. Despite her white fur, she was actually getting quite close unnoticed, and might even succeed in pouncing the gray male–

“Makali! Watch out!” Chokuto called cheerfully from somewhere behind her, and she grunted. Wingu sat up and turned to stick her tongue out at Chokuto, before trotting the rest of the way. The darker male quickened his pace and was close behind.

“Hey Makali!” They both said in unison, then made a face once they realized that.

Makali jumped just a bit as he heard Choku's voice, and was surprised to see Wingu's face pop up from the grass, blocking the grey lion's view of Chokuto's face. He flicked his ear at the fly once more before he rose to his paws- he couldn't help but laugh as they spoke in unison. He closed what remained of the distance between all of them and stayed on his paws. "Hey Choku, Shorty," he said, looking at each of them as he addressed them. "How have you guys been since last time?" He asked energetically, tail flicking lightly behind him.

"I've been... bored," he said, if he was going to be honest. Yup- these past weeks he'd been totally bored, and nobody in this pride that he'd talked to was quite exciting enough to keep him entertained.

Even though they hadn’t seen each other in a while, Chokuto still wouldn’t waste time with formalities. Once Makali had said ‘bored’, he was quick to pounce the gray male. “That’s why we’re here, isn’t it?!” He grinned, doing his best to pin his friend down. “What’re we gonna do today? Go with a classic, or start something new?” Because they had all sorts of games, but there was always room for more!

Wingu was a bit displeased that she had not thought about the attack sooner, and would have to wait until they finished wrestling. At which point, of course, she would get both of them. Because that was how she rolled. “I’ve been busy, but it’s all fun.” Ish. Sort of. She disliked responsibility, and cubs were definitely a responsibility. But she dealt with it!

Mak quickly collapsed under his friend, a big grin on his face as he wrestled with Choku to try to get up- he squirmed his shoulders and his spine to try to worm out from under his weight. When he found it impossible, he squeezed out, "Geez Choku, you're getting fat! You'd better lose some weight!" Truly, though, he could tell that today was going to be the most fun day he'd had in a while

"Hmm.... Let's see..... We could try something new, what do you guys think?" He asked, looking both at Choku and Wingu.

Chokuto seemed unfazed by the combat. “Fat? This is pure muscle.” He grinned. “Maybe you’re just wussy.” The male childishly stuck his tongue out, before shrugging. “I’m up for either.”

Oh, darn. Makali had gotten away too quickly for Wingu to top it all off herself and make a lion pile. She shrugged slightly, looking a bit disappointed at both their lack of more specific plans. That certainly made it harder to do something fun! Besides, they didn’t get together often anymore. This meeting deserved something truly epic! And maybe even a bit dangerous. “You know, on my way here I did see a smallish group of buffalo.” She pointed out. A few individuals, probably split from a larger herd.

"Suuure, that's what they're calling it these days," he said to Choku, brows furrowing playfully. He turned his thoughts to their plans... He too was a little distressed at their lack of a solid plan. The three of them had to do something good! Something memorable... Something passers-by would talk about! They could try to find ostrich or something, but they had done that before... Nothing new and exciting was coming to mind, and his ears began to fold slightly back at the thought of doing something lame today.

But his ears snapped up at what Wingu had mentioned, a grin quickly spreading across his muzzle. Yes, Wingu had good style with these things! "Is that so?" he said, looking at her, "Buffalo sound fun... Want to see if we can... ride one?" he offered, wondering if that was the most dangerous idea that was plausibly safe.

Though riding buffaloes was an endeavor he had already accomplished, Chokuto had no objections to doing it again. He hadn't been too satisfied with the last time, and, besides, he hadn't done it with his friends! He also didn't feel the need to point this out to them. "I like that idea." He smirked. "Where were they?"

Not quite feeling patient to just waste time explaining where they were, Wingu was quick to start trotting. "Just follow me!" She didn't even look back for them, because if they didn't follow... well, it was their loss! So there.

It really wasn't too far. The buffaloes were several yards away from the river. This seemed to please Chokuto. "We could try to ride them into the river." That would definitely be new. Even for him!

Mak nodded to the both of them in total agreement and quickly kept up with Wingu's pace as she took off, a certain excitable bounce in his step. Really, he had never lost that bounce from when he was a cub. Oftentimes he walked normal, but that was when he was bored: he had reason to be excited right now. "Sooooo.... Just how small is smallish?" he asked Wingu as they continued on, though his question was a waste. He asked just as they came into sight. A perfect number- plenty for everyone.

"Riding them into the river is brilliant," he said, confident, (perhaps overly so) in his ability to climb on one, stay on one, and swim should something go wrong. As they approached his steps became more stealthy and his voice lowered. "Buffalo rafts, anyone? Shall we get started?" He said as he surveyed them, trying to pick out which one he wanted to try to take on. "That one there with the spot on its flank," he said to them lowly, "anyone mind if I take that one?" he glanced to both of them- deciding it best not to all launch at the same one.

"I don't know!" Wingu made a face. "D'you think I just go counting buffalo when I walk around?" She stuck her tongue out then grinned, to take a bit of sting out of it. But fortunately they had arrived and she didn't need to worry about answering. Yep, there they were! Just grazing, being chill. That was about to end.

Chokuto snorted, briefly amused with the exchange before perking his ears and focusing on the buffalo. They were picking targets? Okay. "I pick that one. With the broken horn." The choice was more at random than anything, he just went for whatever was easily identifiable to him. That particular buffalo had a short horn, broken off at some point. It was a healthy enough looking beast, but had probably lost a fight a few weeks ago.

Despite easily being the smallest of the three, what with her stunted growth and gender, Wingu was not holding back. "I pick that one." The buffalo didn't have many identifiable features, like a white spot or a broken horn. Aside from the fact that it was easily the largest in this group. "Who will do us the honor or a countdown?"

Mak listened to Choku and spotted his buffalo. A fair choice- old busted-horn must be able to deal some damage if he could manage to lose a horn like that and be running with the herd like nothing had happened. He listened to Wingu, and he didn't need to turn his eyes back to the herd to know which she was talking about. He gave her a quick grin and a brow quirk, but kept any comments he had to himself. He knew firstly, that Wingu could handle herself well enough; and secondly that any comments would start a joking argument, which would take away from wrangling time.

"I'll volunteer for that position," he said happy to do it. "On three. One... Two... Three!" he whispered, launching himself forward on three towards the herd. They seemed to perk up pretty quickly once the lions took off, probably thinking the trio were out for a more fatal mission than they were in reality. White-spot was somewhat near the center of the herd, as Mak approached he had to think of a way to weed through to him. An opening appeared, and he was able to slip around the front of one of the herd members and get to white-spot. A grin on his muzzle, the gray lion leapt with all of his might to try to get on top of the buffalo. It wasn't easy, he was going to act like this was a hunt if he wasn't careful... He didn't really want to hurt it long-term.

With his claws out just a little bit, he managed to drag the rest of himself up on top of the buffalo, who had slowed under his weight. White-spot started to buck, and Makali was forced to use his claws, to hang on tight! He still whooped, though! This was a fun ride!!! He took the opportunity to look around and see how Wingu and Choku were managing!
