I'd first like to say I don't know how much has been posted about this already, but I found no theads about it on the first page, and I felt it deserved recognition in the Hippie forum. Yesterday marked the end of an era in American literature. Hunter S. Thompson has killed himself. Thompson, for those of you who don't know, was the architect of gonzo journalism, an outspoken hero of the drug culture, and a strong political critic. He published many books, most notably Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. While I am not surprised that he died in the manner that he did (shot in the head), I was shocked to discover that he did it to himself. While I have no idea why he did such a thing, I can make a fairly educated guess that it was a combination of Drugs and the current political landscape. If this is any sign of the direction the rest of the year will take, I suggest you prepare for the worst. Nuclear war, Apocalypse, Restriction of civil liberties, everything. We Are ******** S. THIS IS JUST LIKE WHEN THE MUSIC DIED WHEN LENNON GOT SHOT AND THEN DON MCCLEAN MAD THAT AMERICAN PIE SONG ABOUT IT!!!
next is the death of video games. i know it. *grabs halo and hides in 1970s bomb shelter with xbox and an internet connection*
