The day was a bit gloomy with the rain coming down but that didn’t dampen the mare’s spirit at all. The light rain made small rivulets’ on her coat while her mane and tail curls were bit looser than usual but managed to keep their general shape. The greater plains seemed so very empty today. She wondered if she ran would she eventually be blinded if the rain started to come down harder. She didn’t want to risk being stuck alone with no one to help her. Still a part of her wanted to do something, anything. It must be because she was alone today. It wasn’t something she was used to. Shaking her head she pulled her thoughts from the absence of her friend Erumara Minuialwen. When the other mare wanted to fly who was Cala to stop her? Well running was out and she had no one to speak to. Perhaps she should try and come up with a new game?

Ugh it was wet. Course he liked the ambiance but it was still wet, he was wet, and not from voluntary swimming. Mist curled around his hooves, but it was a quiet and peaceful day, which was few and far between when ones family was so large. Of in the distance was a bright purple splotch, he squinted. It was either a familiar or an azrein and judging by the form it was indeed a female azrein. As he got closer he noticed she had the most interesting mane, kinda reminded him a bit of his mother's mane actually. "Pardon me ma'am but what brings you out on a day like this?"

Stopping dead she looked at the Azrein that seemed to just melt out of the rain. She was amazed. Where had he come from? “Ah well I thought I’d go for a walk. Just sitting under a try or trying to get myself to sleep was driving me a bit insane. Have you ever had that issue uhm ah sir.” She really wasn’t sure how to address this male he was polite to her but she didn’t think that he was all that much older than she was. She smiled at him even though she had to blink a lot due to the rain coming down. Her hooves were coated with mud but the rest of her coat was clean so she didn’t feel embarrassed or all that shy at the moment.

"Occasionally I do, but its usually due to some cousin snoring in an overly obnoxious fashion and less due to a racing mind. My name is Alkion of Equi' Amiticia, the herd of Sandar Lake. He nodded his head, water dripping down his face. With his head bowed he got a view of the mud on her feet, Ahh a female willing to step into the rain, a rare being indeed. He was pleasantly surprised. Rain tricked in rivulets down her beautiful coat. He was sure it was soft beyond belief and he wished to reach out and touch his nose to it but was afraid she would start and race off.

“A snoring cusion? That sounds a bit ruff.” She nodded at his name and had no chance of remembering it all. “It’s nice to meet you Alkion of Eqee Atic… I’m sorry could I just call you a nickname or something. Your name is rather long.” She saw him looking her over. She glanced at him. Three of his hooves were mud brown but she liked the hoof that was clean. It was a very lovely teal. His mane was wet as where the feathers that were tied to his mane. “Still I suppose at least the rain is warm enough that it’s not a bad thing to be walking out her in the fields like this.”

"Just call me Alkion or some form thereof. Yes it is most pleasant when the rain is not actually cold. May I ask your name?" She seemed very feminine without all the feist and fire of his family. "Yes more then one cousin who snores add on a couple uncles and I'm surprised the King doesn't hear us as far away as he is."

“Thank you so much. Alkion I can manage.” She gave a relieved sigh. She would have felt so bad if she had to keep trying that long name and getting it wrong every time. “My name is Caladwen Eruliss, but you can call me what you wish.” Giggling at Alkion’s joke she liked him already. “Well perhaps he does, but is too nice to trek through all this rain and the Great Plains to wake everyone up just to get a bit of rest himself.”

"Oh he would probably just send Eric over to go "BOO" at us and sadly enough as good as we know the palomino we would probably jump anyway. Course that is a vampire thing. Caladwen is a pretty name."

She had never been more confused. She had no idea who Eric was or how a vampire entered into the conversation. Was Eric the vampire? What was so scary about vampires anyway? Smiling politely she nodded. She was a bit embarrassed when he complimented her name. She wasn’t used to such flattery. “You should meet my friend Erumara Minuialwen she is as lovely as her name implies. Still I thank you for your sweet words Alkion.” Her mane bobbed as nodded her head in his direction. Her tight braids falling a bit forward.

The rain was very light now, just enough that one could still feel it on their coat. She did have truly lovely hair that seemed to keep its pep even when wet. His was happily drapped across his face in wet folds. "Would you like to see something?"

She shifted her weight from one side to the other clearly curious. “Sure I’d love t see something.” She liked seeing new things. Her ears flicked and she wondered what he could possibly have to show her. She looked up at the sky and smiled. “looks like the rain will stop soon. Do you think we’ll get to see a rainbow?”

He led her up a steep incline, to a lookout. The faint sun shone over the freshly wet grass that covered softly rolling hills in a dewy green blanket. Long stalks swayed gently and droplets shone like little crystals clinging to the tall stems. "Isn't it beautiful?" One could see for a fair distance and in that space the life and growth was easy to see.

She followed him without question as he lead her up higher on a rise. Looking out over the reborn world below she couldn’t help but utter a small gasp of amazement. Everything seemed so new and so amazing. “Yes this is so.. ..so..” It was hard to find the right word for this scene. “Superb. ” she finished breathlessly.

He stood there watching the landscape, all the while thinking that she was one of those dew crystals here for now, but soon gone like every other mare who had been in his life. It bothered him that no one stayed was he not worth it? Would he not love and cherish someone as fully as any other? Had his parents love not shown him that true love did exist. Did azrein think that he could not accomplish it? It was in his genes after all two in his family had died for what they loved.

Turning her head she looked at the stallion who had brought her to the precious of this amazing scene. “Are you aright?” He looked a bit off. Like he was drowning even if there wasn’t any water around him. It bothered her a bit. She leaned over and nosed him the shoulder. “Hey none of that now. If you have something bothering you it helps to talk about it. After all there’s no one here but you and me and a bunch of rocks. I don’t think the rocks make for good conversation though.”
