Another typical day... another typical trip. It was routine by now, and ingrained into the mare's subconscious. Everyday she traveled up and down the dense forest, visiting the meadow when the times were calm and safe of predators or anything that may by lurking and wanting a nice snack... The lone cautious Nyreen was almost silent in her lurking about the thick vegetation, taking comfort in its cover that was provided. It would be hard for large creatures to maneuver about in...
At the current moment, with the sun making its descend over the horizon, she was making own way towards the stream that spilled out into a pleasantly sized pool, tucked deep in the woods. She went to it often to cool off, or gain a refreshing drink. But today... it was mostly for a means of healing. A scar was bore along a front leg on the mare, glistening with the ruby liquid that was blood, trickling down her long appendage freely. She'd... gotten into a mild scrap, but it still managed to get her damaged somewhat. Walking with great care, Nyreen reached the pond, and took a nervous look around to make sure no one was about.. before dipping into its cooling embrace, cut getting coated and soothed for the time being.

Apathetic, was the mood he was in today. He could care less about anyone or anything. His judgmental nature made him a very hard Soq to get along with let alone talk with for an extended period of time. Having a tendency to suffer from diarrhea of the mouth, the young colt was just full of bad qualities. The only thing good about him was that he was honest. Probably the most honest Soq around just like his father. Though right now, he was busy venturing around for something that could be amusing. His father let him go out again to explore the world and that was great since Gabriel was one protective father. His children were his life and he was going to be in every one of their lives from mate picking to grandchildren. He already knew this because his father already gave him that speech.
"What the hell?" He raised his eyebrow as he noticed the mare. Usually he didn't notice even the grass around him which is why he always managed to stumble upon things that he shouldn't stumble upon. Nothing like stumbling upon a mare taking a dip in a pond. "Don't drown! I don't want to see my first dead body today. I think I want to wait until I'm an adult at least!" He shouted out to her. His affliction seemed to come upon him at that moment. Diarrhea of the mouth was his virus. One that probably wouldn't be cured.

Her usually tense and alert body began to soothe and calm, muscles relaxing, ears folding back. The water felt so nice... it seeped through her fur and managed to touch the delicate skin beneath. Such a sensitive spot, the skin was. It hardly ever got any attention of any kind that was gentle; especially for her. Her neck dipped to touch the rippling pool she stood in, lips delicately moving to sip at the liquid and quench her thirst as well. She really didn't get to have a nice serene moment... so many of her muscles held knots of overwhelming stress over the years of solitude and fear of... living and others.
But that all shattered as a voice took to the air, instantly making her ears snap up, and head jerk upright to follow the source. Spotting the foal, her gaze widened, and she took a few swift steps the opposite way of him in pure shock. When had he gotten here...?! her muscles tensed up, and panic began to start to stir. Usually where there were children, there were adults... ones who could mistaken her as an enemy to their young, or perhaps not approve of her presence. She stared at the colt, not speaking, but clear discomfort in her wary expression...

The colt raised his brow at how the mare was acting. She was a strange one and he only hoped she wasn't as weird as his family. Oh dear god how he hoped that wasn't the case. Flicking his tail, he walked closer to the small pond and stared at her more. "What is wrong? It's not like I caught you doing something bad...Sheesh relax~" He mumbled thinking about what he could even say to this mare right now. She seemed so standoffish and lost he really didn't know what he could do to make her speak even. Though he didn't mind it. Sometimes that is why he liked Cai and Astraea so much because they didn't vocalize their opinions or talk all that much. It made things so much more quiet.
"Look...I'm alone and I'm not going to eat your flesh so stop acting like you just saw the boogie man or something. Not sure what your problem is and honestly I don't care one bit. Just passing through since my family is being all dramatic and needy. I had to get away from them." He told her with a kick to the ground. He both liked and hated his family. Sometimes he just wanted to not be in a family like that though no one can really pick where they are from. "If you stay in the water too long your going to make your pelt all weird and icky looking. Not sure if that matters to you or not, but my cousin is so particular about how she looks, she hates it when that happens." He nodded to the mare.

Conflict began to swell up within the mare... distress too. It was just a little foal... something harmless... right? But it was alone... that wasn't right, was it? instantly her memories of the blood shed that was committed right before her eyes as a filly rose, and the loneliness that followed... being a foal and raising herself... protecting herself from the looming dangers. Getting lost in her nightmares and demons, she almost missed what the colt had to say!
Warily watching him, she was surprised by his confidence. She'd never had that... his words were somewhat soothing though, and her body didn't hold such a rigid position, though it remained tense. The more he spoke though, the less uncertain she became. If he'd wanted to do something, he easily could have by now. Hesitantly, she let the rest of her posture relax to normal, ears swiveling forward at a very slow pace. He left his family? delicate brows knitted together in a show of worry.. lips parting to speak, but stopping. It.. wasn't her place to ask such things. Instead, she just gave him a solemn nod of acknowledgement. His advice gave her another surprise, causing ears to perk up, and the VERY faintest hint of a smile play at her lips. Her coat...? my, she'd never been one to think much of it. She was so plain and ugly... but it was amusing that the foal was being so attentive. "Thank you..." she murmured ever so softly. Glancing down at her cut leg, she lifted it slightly to look at its progress. The blood was no longer there, but there was a faint dye of red to it. She didn't really want to get out yet, though... so instead, she just waded closer to the shallow part of the pond, respectfully giving the young stallion some space.

The colt was blown away at how little the mare said. Maybe it was better that he met someone else that was as quiet as his cousins. He watched her for a moment before circling around the small pond wondering if she would even talk if he asked her things. He failed at getting his cousins to speak, but that was probably because he was so loud when they were so quiet and so spoken. He didn’t know much of a way to get someone to talk other then forcing it out of him or her. That wouldn’t be the case here since he couldn’t make a stranger talk.
“I’m Zachariah. Who are you?” It was probably the only thing he could ask that might get him a response. He approached her slowly and narrowed his eyes on her a tiny bit before snorting. He had a feeling she wasn’t going to talk. He turned his head and eyed the water seeing the color in it making him raise his brow. “Are you injured?” He asked in a very serious tone. It was probably the more mature side peeking it’s head out now, but he was still a small colt. There wasn’t much he could do about the wound anyway. He hadn’t trained to heal so he would have to really try hard to do it.
