Pod Duty.
One of the most boring positions. Sometimes alone, sometimes with.. ugh.. other people. Apparently someone else shared a shift with him that day but he wasn't sure who yet.
The small blonde made his way inside, rubbing a freshly bandaged arm gingerly. That damn zombie. Zombies always seemed to have their way with him. At least he killed it. Well... as killed as an undead gets. He turned his damn skull into slush, anyway.
The wound wasn't really all that serious at all. It was more for his own peace of mind that he wrapped it. Still, the zombie had bit right into his arm.... Zombie Cooties, okay? Zombie bites meant cooties.

Ahahahaha...
...Eva Valente was running a little late for pod duty that day.
The black haired girl sprinted down the hallway with a piece of toast in her mouth, looking not unlike the stereotypical anime heroine late for her first day of school. Her shoes squeaked against the floor as she sharply turned corners, yelling out muffled apologies whenever she would nearly slam into a random passerbyer. Frankly, there was little reason for Eva to be so panicked about being late to pod duty, but she had heard that someone else was worked during the same hours as her that day. The last thing she wanted to do was to leave a bad impression on her partner for the day.
A partner, she discovered as she finally arrived, that she was very familiar with.
"Puppy!" And then she launched herself at him.

Welp. There they were. He'd have been sassy about her being late but he already had a cheek being rubbed into his face by the time he opened his mouth. After much grumbling he pressed his hands to her shoulders in a weak attempt at getting her away. "Where'ya been?" Otto grouched, icy eyes cast at the dark haired woman. "Y'always this much'of a slacker?" Tsk tsk Miss Eva. Tsk. Tsk. "Thought I'd have to stare at all these creepy faces all by my lonesome. Ya'know how Goddamn unsettlin' that is?"

Allowing herself to be pushed back, the look Eva gave Otto was one of sheepishness as she took in his question. Lifting a hand, she removed the slice of toast from her mouth before answering.
"Sorry, Puppy! I was training outside, and I lost track of the time. I also forgot to eat, soooo..." She waved the piece of toast around in her hand, and then took a bite before turning to casually eye the pods. Frankly, she couldn't blame Otto for being a little uncomfortable standing here alone--it was pretty creepy, after all.
"Well..at least I'm here now?"

"Geez Louise, Eva. You can be pretty damn stupid." Otto said with one brow raised high. He emphasized his complaint with the crossing of his arms. "Yeaaah I guess." He shrugged, turning to look around the pod room. "You owe me though." She totally didn't, but this was Otto. "It'd be weird if someone woke up while we were on duty. Or worse if I was by myself." Chances were he wouldn't be very welcoming.

Eva didn't seem particularly fazed by being called stupid--after all, this was Otto they were talking about here--and she simply laughed brightly. "I guess I'm a little scatterbrained! I tend to do that a lot--forget to eat, I mean--when I train." She emitted another light-hearted laugh, rubbing the back of her head with her free hand.
Taking a bite of her toast, she hummed thoughtfully as she glanced over at the pods. "Well," She swallowed her bite of toast, "It would be nice if more people woke up, no? I mean, to be stuck in that pod forever..."
She suddenly trailed off, lips tugging downwards in a frown. "That being said, it's dangerous out here. I'm sure some people would prefer to remain oblivious to all this fighting." Feeling as if the conversation had suddenly gotten far too dark, Eva suddenly smiled again and piped up with a cheerful, "Though, as Allan-taichou would probably put it, if a new batch woke up now, you would be their 'senpai'!"

"Don't forget to eat. Pack a lunch or sumthin'." Otto scolded, giving the girl a narrow stare. More people meant more meat shields. Being stuck in a pod forever didn't sound horrible, honestly. Not preferred, but it also meant no pain. His brows furrowed and an incredulous look was cast at Eva again. "What the Hell is a "sempai"?" Anything involving Allan was always weird and uncomfortable. Why couldn't he speak his own damn language, he thought. His mind wandered, and he began to wonder how it was everyone at Deus knew English. Did people of other languages not qualify? It made things much more simple, anyway. No complaints there.

"Ah, could it be...you're worried about me?" Eva's voice was teasing as she leaned in close, almost nose to nose with the poor boy. Her eyes danced with amusement as she held still for a few long moments, and then she finally drew away, taking another bite of her toast. "I'll keep that in mind for next time, Puppy."
She turned to eye the pods as she continued to munch, her gaze flickering over to Otto only briefly at his question. "Haha, aww. Never watched anime, did you? It means that you'd be like...a senior to the newbies!" Just imagine, Otto taking charge and tutoring the new trainees--
--...
Eva frowned thoughtfully. Something told her that there would be a lot of yelling involved.
"Anyways, I'm glad to see you're all better."

Otto leaned back, but it was not enough to escape Eva's attack on his personal bubble. They were so close he could practically see her pores. He cast a glace away, a faint blush dusting his ears at her inquiry. "No, not really.." He lied, keeping tense until she moved away. He rubbed his nose, and shrugged. "Yeah, you do that."Her explanation was met with a muttered "ah" in response. Friggin' anime, man. That Allan was a whack-job and he had a feeling Japan was to blame for it. He'd been there too, once. He should have destroyed it and blames ponies. Maybe killing the source of his power would kill him. He didn't actually want him dead though. Despite how much Otto loathed his presence, Allan was the better of most evils. "Yeah, more'r less." Otto mumbled, kicking his foot against the floor. He'd managed to push away his feels just to stay stable. He didn't know if it would backlash, but for now, it was how he managed to function. He didn't want to relive it, think about it.

Eva clearly had no regard for Otto's personal space...but hell, did she ever pay any mind to that kind of thing? Finishing off the last of her toast, she reached out to lightly pinch his cheek. "Tell me--have you been eating properly lately, puppy?" Though her voice was light and teasing, there was obviously genuine concern beneath that grin of hers. She still remembered the last time she had seen him, sitting demurely in that bed.
She watched him silently for a moment before pulling him into another sudden hug. "Well, I'm glad you're alright." There was a pause, and then she grinned again, clapping her hands together like an excited child.
"Anyways, we're on duty together, but there isn't much to do until our shift is over! How about we play a game or something?"

"Yeah, I've been eating just fine." Otto answered with a shrug. He didn't cook so it was usually cafeteria food, though. The sudden hug actually caught him off guard, having believed that affection stuff had already been done now. Apparently not. He thought about it, remembering she hadn't seen him since he had been in the infirmary. He grimaced some out of uncertainty, lightly patting her arm with one free hand before she let go. "A game? Like what?" Otto asked incredulously, raising a brow.

Eva is never done with showing her affection in the form of hugs, Otto.
Never.
She seemed relieved by his answer, looking him up and down before giving a satisfied nod. Physically, she didn't seem too bad, and he was definitely back to his old self since the last time she had seen him.
"I don't know," She answered cheerfully, "Do you have any paper? Let's play tic tac toe or something!" There was a moment of pause, and then she laughed, unable to resist a little teasing. "Or do you want me to tell you another story? ...Though you fell asleep the last time I did that."

Otto made a rather animated face of disgruntlement at Eva's teasing. He huffed indignantly as if she'd insulted his honor and his cow, turning his head away. "No, I ain't got none." He replied, ignoring her latter comments and focussing on the paper issue. "Admit it. There ain't nuthin to do in this dumb place." Except stare at sleeping, comatose faces.

"I'm a firm believer in being able to have fun anywhere and anytime, so long as you make an effort to do so." As she spoke, the girl began to dig around in her pockets, her tongue sticking out of the corner of her mouth as she searched for a pen. After a few seconds passed, her face lit up as she withdrew a sharpie marker from her pocket.
"Here we go! And since we don't have paper..." She hummed thoughtfully, and then stretched out her hand, palm-up. "How do you feel about impromptu hand tattoos, puppy? We can play tic-tac-toe, or pictionary, or just doodle! It'll be a fun way to pass the time."
And if Eva could help it, she would probably draw a whole bunch of hearts and puppy dogs all over Otto's hands.

Otto watched quietly as Eva dug around her pockets, making silly faces as she did so. "Oh jeez." Otto sighed. "That's a Sharpie. It'll take forever to wash off." He gave Eva a careful glare. "Dunno if I trust you with my skin." He replied with a brow raising high. He sighed. "Fine. But if you draw something dumb, I'll draw graffiti on your forehead, ya get me?"
