안녕하세요!

I hope everyone is doing good.
Well, this is my first post on this beautiful guild dedicated to everything korean emotion_kirakira

I wanted to start with a very brief story:

While watching Korean Dramas many of the lovely korean actresses would call a man that was older than them, " Oppa". I thought it was the cutest most adorable thing in the world, plus, the guys faces would completely change (sometimes). Since then, it has been my dream to have an Oppa. I think Asian people in general are pretty amazing but I dont have Korean guy friends of any age. emotion_facepalm I'll throw myself a pity party later but this is my question to you all.

~ Do you have an 'Oppa'?

~ When and how did it happen? Did he ask you? Did you just blur it out?

~ Do Korean guys like it when a non-korean girl calls them 'Oppa'?

~ If you are a korean guy: Do you like being called 'Oppa!' emotion_bigheart , why??

Thank you guys for sharing, i hope to talk about this matter soon with you all <3

감사합니다

~ Do you have an 'Oppa'?

No... An "oppa", as you refer to a Korean man, or rather a Korean boyfriend since it's said in a possessive case, isn't an object. It's like asking if I have a dog - sorry, no offense. I know how you feel! They are so hot, right? emotion_kirakira
Oppa is a form of addressing an older male, when you are a female. Unnie is much like Oppa, but only a younger female calls an older female that. Then there is Hyung (male to older male), Noona (male to older female) and Dongseng (older person to younger person regardless of sex/gender).

~ When and how did it happen? Did he ask you? Did you just blur it out?

Oh, you're so looking for some juicy AMWF fantasy stories, aren't you? emotion_yatta
I found this very cute (:

~ Do Korean guys like it when a non-Korean girl calls them 'Oppa'?

Some think it's weird. Let me put it this way ~ the chances that a Korean American will find it weird if a girl from another race calls him oppa will find it repulsive, are a lot higher than a guy from South Korea or in South Korea. Some dislike the whole Hallyu wave thing happening in America and look down on non-Korean girls "adapting" to Korean culture because of that. So be careful. When you meet a Korean guy, ask him if he would like you to call him Oppa or could you rather call him by his first name or nickname if the first is too complicated to pronounce. If you think about it, you'll end up preferring to call him by his first name instead of oppa in reality. (That's what i think anyways.)

~ The "Oppa Manual" lol Hope you enjoy <3

Im kind of the opposite of you hahaha. I doooont like aegyo, atleast not doing it myself so Ive never WANTED to call anyone oppa but...

Do you have an 'Oppa'?
Ehm, I have this one friend that I call "Oppa" sometimes AS A JOKE. Because we both find it so awkward, so sometimes when I want something from him Ill go "Oppa" on him.
Its a guy I dance with. You can see him here, the first tall one with a white basketshirt on.
Feel free to check out the other videos, theyre REALLY great. n_n

When and how did it happen? Did he ask you? Did you just blur it out?
Well he was going to perform at a kpop show for about a year ago and I was standing like at the front of the crowd so when he was doing his solo I yelled out "OPPPAAAA~~~" because it seemed fitting, it was a kpop party. xD

Do Korean guys like it when a non-korean girl calls them 'Oppa'?
Depends on the guy I would presume.

If you are a korean guy: Do you like being called 'Oppa!' , why??
Im neither. smile

~ Do you have an 'Oppa'?
Sometimes I call my friend Sungu Oppa. I know a lot of older korean guys right now....

~ When and how did it happen? Did he ask you? Did you just blur it out?
Sometimes I just say it... if I feel like it. A friend of mine says it a lot. especially to guys she likes.

~ Do Korean guys like it when a non-korean girl calls them 'Oppa'?
they seem to like it because a lot of them are at least 6 years older than me. Makes them feel less old or something. They all look pretty young though... and none of them are Quite 30 yet xD
