The smell of salt was in the air. The familiar smell drew Miracle to the surface of her temporary home. The sight before her eyes filled her with a sense of elation. The ocean lay just beyond her reach. The seathi ducked below the surface and blew a steady stream of bubbles upward. She had to wonder how the next part of Lavinia’s plan would work. The other mare had hinted that she would be assisting in the search for the “magic of the water’s west.” Miracle’s thoughts varied on how Lavinia could get her to cooperate. Perhaps she could bargain in her release once they had found the treasure. Her one concern was for Argent. What had happened to her little otter friend? Would she be able to find her again?
The bubble stream came to an abrupt end as Miracle sensed Lavinia’s arrival. Her head came to breach the surface. “Any ideas come to you yet?”

Lavinia hated to admit it but she was flummoxed. She still needed Miracle for this search but she couldn't hold anything else above the seathi's head to ensure her cooperation. Threats wouldn't work anymore. the only idea she had was to fashion some sort of leash system that she could tether Miracle to. She would of course be attacked at the other end. It seemed like a good idea but something felt off. She thought about the leash as she journeyed back to the small clearing that she had dumped Miracle in. The size differential would be on her side if she chose to go with some sort of leash and Miracle would have no option but to stay close.
At the sound of the small voice Lavinia gave a startled jump. Miracle was getting better at sensing when she would arrive. She scowled at the seathi before gazing at the water beyond. Somewhere out there lay what she sought.

Miracle noted the scowl on Lavinia's face. She gave herself a brief moment to decipher if that meant that she was right. The kelpi had bypassed her container to stare determinedly out at the ocean. It was strange behavior, out of character for Lavinia to ignore a barb that was directed at her. Miracle splashed a little bit of water before sighing. The silent treatment; she disliked it a lot. She was always one to chatter with the locals to glean information about what was going on. Lavinia had come into her life and tossed all that she knew out the proverbial window.
Miracle continued to stare at Lavinia's form. Sunset was coloring the sky and the mare in tropical hues and still there had been no response from the kelpi. Miracle gave a tiny sigh before swimming a circle in her container. Her head came back to peer over the rim, "Lavinia?"

Lavinia couldn't see the sunset clearly but she knew without a doubt that the sky was blazing with color right now. The sun's weakened rays also bathed her form in gentle warmth that held the night's chill away. Her mind was still whirling about with the practicality of her idea. She wouldn't even have to go far if she needed to fashion a leash. The rope around the container could serve adequately. But how could she manipulate the rope enough to make two well sized adjustable knots? It would take a native to secure the knots just right and that meant that she'd need to find one soon. It was an uncertain risk that she'd have to take.
At Miracle's quiet query she swung her head around to stare down the seathi. She grinned when Miracle broke the contest first. "What do you want now?"
