He had disappeared into the district and kept far away from them. The two have taken care of each other and they have gotten along with the bare necessities. Spencer had taken tesserae against his mothers wishes every year to help them out. He has a few more years to go before he is safe from the games and they both dread every reaping day.
Recently his mother has remarried and he now has two sisters. Spencer was not happy with this intrusion on his family and he doesn't like to socialize with any of his new family members. To him it feels as though he has lost his mother to this man. She spends her time with him now and Spencer is left alone.
