Bad things were happening.

BAD THINGS WERE AFOOT.

And it was Sutai's job to stop them!

The energetic Page of Polaris was getting better at this whole patrol thing the more she tried. She didn't find too many Order folks to hang with (many were busy or you know, in the middle of a fight and couldn't talk, that sort of thing) so more often than not, Sutai did short patrols in neighborhoods she recognized to get a feel for it. She'd be out for a few hours and would return quickly to the safety of home. At least the thought of her princess being proud of her kept her going! Otherwise she'd be too scared to venture out on her own.

That being said, Sutai was stopped prematurely when she felt the presence of one of those awful monsters. She skidded to a halt in the middle of the street and heard its telltale roar from around the bend. She took off at a run, crystals singing through the air and as soon as she rounded the corner... she spotted the monster attacking somebody else! She was dressed very nicely, blonde hair... very pretty! Sutai knew some people liked to fight on their own so she hesitated to just hop in.

"Umm... excuse me! Do you need help?" she called, waving her telescope.

Sutai stood her ground and called forth her telescope, which appeared in a golden light and landed in her hand. She struck a pose before realizing... she had no idea what to do after this.

Was this lady newer than her?

She looked like a senshi, with the whole bodice and tiara and that sort of thing. So she wasn't a knight! Sutai liked to help everybody but now she had to try and lead. She'd never done that before! As the two girls tried to decide the next move, the youma, a long and lanky thing that skittered on the ground like a bug, hissed and turned to them. Its body was plump but light, with short and stubby legs. Its arms were extremely thin but very, very long, giving it ungodly reach. It almost looked like a distorted crab or a spider. It wailed with anger and tried to swing at the girls.

Sutai shrieked and suddenly wished she had laser beams like Camelot. "UM UM UM... UM!" she squeaked, jumping this way and that to avoid being stuck like a pincushion. "Miss Lacy Lady, we have to beat this... this monster!" Can't the senshi cast some magic? They have special powers like peppers and puppets and stuff! And magnets like her princess! Another series of near-misses by the youma made Sutai land on her side on the ground. "...can you cast some magic, pretty please? Please please please make with the laser BEEEEEEAAAAAAMS---"

The youma hissed and swung again.

The youma shrieked and squealed, whirling around in confusion. Sutai made with the happy squees and bouncing and clapping in triumph. "Oh that was wonderful! Yes, very wonderful! Thank you so very much!" The page pulled out her telescope and commenced getting closer to the monster at the senshi's request. The youma tipped over and scraped its claws against the ground as it tried to right itself.

"Oh, yes! Yes we must... we must attack! So... here we go!" Sutai let out what she thought was a fierce battle cry but it was more of a cross between a squeal and a grunt. The copper of her telescope was something she hoped would do some damage. CLANK CLANK CLUNK BASH CLUNK! went the telescope as Sutai went to town on the tipped youma, baseball bat style. It shrieked and curled its long arm around the girl's ankles and tripped her.

"EEK! I don't like this!" The page of Polaris flung her telescope at the youma's head, beaning it solidly. "Okay umm... tell me you know wrestling moves or something please!"

With the youma down for the count, Sutai was distracted by the pretty senshi's introduction and turned to face her. "TianGuan! That is a very pretty name for a very well-dressed senshi! I really like your outfit! It's really very pretty and such a nice color scheme! You senshi all dress very nicely! Your wardrobe people have my complime---AHHHH!"

Just as she was about to shower more praise upon TianGuan, the youma roared and leaped out of nowhere, aiming for the page's back. Sutai turned around quickly, causing her rather heavy and crystal-encrusted braid to go flying like a whip. It smacked the youma across the face and it stumbled backwards, giving TianGuan a dumb look before it tripped over the fallen telescope, rolled around a little bit, fell and bashed its head on the concrete. It finally dissipated after breathing one last guttural sigh.

Sutai turned back to TianGuan and blinked. "....I think we won. WE WON! YAAAAAY!" The Page of Polaris bounded up to the well-dressed Senshi of Masks and wrapped her arms around her in a huge hug. "You're amazing, Miss Tian! That was great! I... Oh! I forgot to introduce myself!"

The page backed up and spun around in a tight circle, ending in a curtsy. She was practicing for her princess. "I'm Sutai! Page of Polaris. And it's very nice to meet you!"

Sutai dropped TianGuan a wink and made a silly superhero pose. "We defeated it, Miss TuanGuan. Neither one of us could do it on our own you know! Monsters are scary but it's not as scary when there's someone else with you!" Especially someone who can use magic! That's always a huge plus in Sutai's book.

Tian's question about knights was something that excited Sutai. She'd never really been able to explain it to someone who didn't know already. Time to practice! Sutai took a few steps back and did a little twirl. "I'm working to protect Princess Polaris! She's a senshi just like you but she's also a Princess. I guess that means she needs extra more help? But knights are people who come from planets like the Earth and Venus and stuff! We get these nifty weapons and when I get strong enough, I can use magic like you! Just not mask-y stuff. That's kinda your job Miss Tian."

Sutai trotted over to pick up her telescope from where the youma had tripped and fallen on it. "I saw that Camelot, he's a knight of Earth, he has a shield as his weapon! And Babylon, Knight of Mercury, has a nifty lantern. It's different for all of us I think. I haven't met any other Polaris knights though."

She sighed and turned the telescope over in her hands for a few moments before she brightened again. "Oh! Maybe you'll be a princess somebody, Miss Tian! Then maybe you could have your own knights too! That would be so super cool, wouldn't it?"

Sutai giggled. Look, she taught someone something new! The thought gave Sutai a great sense of pride. Usually it was her having to do all the learning, never the teaching! "Oh yes, there are several princesses on our side, but just between you and me--" The crystalline page leaned in as if to whisper a secret. "--I think Polaris is the nicest and the prettiest." Stepping back, the page cleared her throat and began again. "I know Polaris has funny little buttwings where you have that back bow, so maybe that has something to do with being a princess? I know when she becomes a princess, she gets this really pretty big wings!"

The page made a grand gesture to try and explain how big and magnificent these wings happened to be. "I know there's Iris, who is also a princess and wears a yellow gown. She's blond. I don't know her very well. And also Chronos! She is very pretty too with long green hair and pink butterfly wings. I don't know her very well either, but I saw them at a meeting we had. They're very nice people. Maybe you can meet them someday? At least Polaris. She's a very nice lady."

Sutai nodded fervently when Tian doubted her abilities. "No no no, don't say that! Everyone starts at the beginning. I'm still learning too! That's why I don't have magic." She looked down at her worn telescope and sighed. "But that's what I'm working towards. We all have to start at the bottom so chin up, Miss Tian!"

"Oh yes, I bet the Princess would love to meet you! You're so very nice and I'm sure she wouldn't mind making new friends! You're really quite lovely, Miss Tian. That is for certain!"

Another set of giggled emanated from the page. She was truly very excited to meet someone new, and was even more relieved that they'd both survived. It really payed to work together. "Oh yes indeed, I would love to train with you! You can teach me all sorts of senshi things and I..." She looked down at her telescope and frowned for a moment. "Well... I can see what could be coming at us from a distance?" Tsui had said something once about Sutai becoming a strategist but... the Page of Polaris wasn't sure how she'd go about doing that.

No matter. Sutai put on a happy face. "I know senshi have cell phones! Would you be able to call me sometime? Or can I call you? We can pick a place and meet up and train! Maybe a few nights a week or something? I bet we could both use it and well... safety in numbers, right?"

Sutai agreed wholeheartedly and bounced back and forth on her heels. "Oh yes I would love to learn fencing! And um.. well..." She thought for a moment, stilling. What could she teach Tian? She didn't have any skills related to fighting. "Oh! I meditate. And I can cook too. I'm not sure how helpful that would be, but I can teach you that? I cook lots of traditional Indian food and I meditate so I can focus on things. Maybe that could help?" Sutai wasn't sure but figured it couldn't hurt to try, right?

Taking up the cellphone, the crystalline page punched in her number as a civilian. Polaris had told her once that making friends was very important and Sutai saw this as the first step. "I would love to meet up with you sometime! When are you free? We can make plans!"

Looking down at her uniform, she giggled. It really did net her a lot of complements though sometimes she felt she didn't deserve them. "The princess once told me that Polaris is a very cold place. Oh! Did you know you can visit your homeworld, Miss Tian? I don't know if it's a star or a comet or a moon, but you can visit it! Polaris told me about it once. I think it has to do with your phone but I'm not really sure. Knights don't have phones." It sure would be nice if we did!
