Keshani Avenara had to admit that once upon a time, her sire was amongst the ranks of the Kalona-Are-Superior crowd. Perhaps not the Kalona-Are-Ultimate, but certainly superior to most others. It seems to be the predominant philosophy of the Kalona, she could scarcely recall hearing anything other. It was just the way they were, and perhaps Aveshar's following of the idea was not all-consuming, but it was strong. Kalona were bigger, stronger, rarely afraid and hardly ever victims. Aveshar respected strength, it was a simple enough thing to believe in and support. But some of that had relaxed in the face of his wandering... Fading away, or rubbed away, by his various encounters with other breeds. Yes, Kalona had strength and stubbornness, but they weren't alone in this and he learned that straight from the source. Stars above, Keshani's dam was a Groundwalker mare with Wind heritage! Or at least she had been... If that didn't prove how he had changed, nothing would. No matter what monster had climbed inside her skin, there had once been a time when that mare proved to a Kalona she was worth passing time with. Perhaps she had been the final example he had needed? Regardless, he had raised Keshani with a much different view of the world than the one he once held. Kalona may be Superior, but not all others were worthless. There were shining examples of strength in each breed. There were exceptional hearts behind even the plainest, softest, weakest faces. The face, the flesh, meant little; it was the heart and soul that spoke to the strength of a Soquili. Sadly, most Kalona couldn't -or wouldn't- be convinced of that fact. If possible, they seemed to detest a half-blood more than they did the pure 'weak' species... According to many, Keshani and her kind were exactly what was wrong with their Once Proud breed. The wind-kalona mare disagreed, graciously at first and later with teeth and hooves if needed... There was nothing wrong with her. She was strong, she was proud, and she didn't need their approval. No, she had her father's love and pride, and that was enough... She didn't need the approval of strangers, but a friend or two of her own kind would be nice... "Yes..." She admitted softly, thinking fondly of the little filly she had fostered into a mare with the strength to hunt despite her delicate appearance. "A friend or two would be welcome."

Stretching his wings had been a good idea, Coridan thought as he soared over the trees. While he'd learned to enjoy life in the swamp with his mate, he also had bouts of restlessness. A good cure for this was to fly up to see what his father and step-mother were up to, but since they'd had foals, he kept his distance. Not that he didn't enjoy his siblings, he just had no desire to be overrun by sisters.
Banking on the wind, the young stallion brought himself down to a stream to slake his thirst. He hoped there might be fruit nearby as well or perhaps small game. Something more than just grass to fill his belly before the long flight back to the swamp. Upon landing, he lowered his head to drink and noticed something moving out of his peripheral. Quickly jerking his head up, prepared for anything, he noticed it was a mare. Judging by her horns and tail, he figured she was of kalona decent like himself and his father.
"Hello?" he called out.

With a sigh the mare stretched her neck out and down, nosing a foreleg to rub away a tickle on her cheek. Wings shifting and flexing, she folded the slightly-glowing appendages to her back and lashed her tail, her hooves making little noise on the green bed of the forest floor. Twining around the trees in a cat-like way that made her think distantly of her mother's mad grace, she began to hum a lilting tune she vaguely remembered sung over her basket.
It was softer and sweeter in her voice than her sire's, but the magic of the music was soothing all the same. She let the song wrap around her until something outside of it intruded, head twisting and ears flicking forward at the sound of another voice. A stallion's voice, and not one familiar to her. One ear pinned back and then swiveled forward, considering. Well, he had started a conversation in a way, hadn't he? Perhaps he was not one inclined to attack rather than socialize...
"Hello." She murmured, silvery eyes gleaming as she hesitated a moment, and then slightly altered her course to draw closer to him.

Coridan kept a friendly smile on his face, though he was inwardly cautious at the approaching mare. His experience with fellow kalona was extremely limited, extending to himself and his father and the new sisters he'd only met briefly on his last visit to his parents' cave. He did not know this mare.
"I'm sorry if I startled you," Coridan said, inclining his head a bit. "If I'm intruding, I'll be on my way."

Keshani drew to a halt at what she deemed was a sociable distance, inclining her head slightly and flexing her wings at her back. The stallion's smile was friendly enough, as was his tone, which convinced her to stay for the moment. If he wasn't going to try and attack her, she certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to make an enemy of him.
"And here I was just about to say something similar to you." She smiled, a laugh hidden just behind the words. "You did not startle me, I thank you for the concern. And this land is not mine, so it is not trespassing to my understanding. I believe this place is more or less unclaimed, but if not, we are equal in our invasion of another's home... But he or she has not seen fit to tell us."
She shrugged, and in this extended one swan-like wing in a flick of dismissal. She didn't think there was anyone who would dare approach a pair of Kalona to tell them to be gone... For the moment, there was safety in numbers, and Keshani had met precious few of her kind. "I am Keshani Avenara."
