Feeling at ease wasn't one of Nidawi's most strongest traits. In fact, she was always on the look-out for something more or something spectacular. She tried sometimes in vain to be less tense since as a foal that was rather odd and could be life threatening down the road, but it never worked. She kept thinking about what she had to be and what she had to do later in life which made her tense. The thought of going on a long journey alone made her want to hide away forever and the pressure she felt was so extreme.
She accepted this fate. She could have said no, but a pilgrimage felt like it was something that had to be done. Like before she was born it was meant to be and there wasn't anything that was going to be changed about it. Letting out a small laugh at her thoughts, she knew right when her father told her this she wasn't going to say no. She loved challenges and bringing something meaningful to the family was all she wants.
As she stopped by a formation of tall rocks, she looked up to the sky and gave a small nod. "Watch over me and keep me safe." She said lightly in a small whisper before lowering her head. She shut her eyes and went silent for a few moments as she recited a prayer in her head. She did this from time to time when she felt the need was right. When she was finished, she opened her blackening eyes and walked away from the stones finding them fascinating, but she felt that there was something even more fascinating elsewhere.

It had been a few days since the blue cerynei had been out on patrol. Cheveyo decide it was certainly past due for him to make his rounds. Slowly he walked, making his way out of the deeper darker part of the forest. As he began to near the tree break Cheveyo could feel the dappled patches of sunlight on his body. He looked skyward with a smile noticing that the the spirits in the sky seemed to be indecisive on what the weather should be.
Cheveyo stopped every so often to make notes of how the land laid, what other creatures were about, and what species of plant life he could spot. He was starting to collect a large amount of these names. Walking a little further Cheveyo could hear a trickle of water nearby and decided to try and find it. The sound was not very loud so he decided it had to be a stream. As he neared his objective Cheveyo caught his back hoof on a rock and almost landed face first in the water he was seeking. Luckily a small bounce saved him from taking a bath.
Entranced by the sharp clear smell of the stream and the interesting plants he saw along the bank Chev decided to follow it down. He didn't feel like he walked for very long until the stream began to shrink. Cheveyo also noticed random cropping of stone formations. He kept walking his mind for once focused solely on this one task. Eventually the stream disappeared in a tumble of stones, he could still hear the water but after the stone pile the stream vanished. Cheveyo decided that the water somehow continued on underground. Slightly disappointed he walked off to look at a large rock formation. Once he reached them he thought he heard a voice. Maybe I still have the stream's voice in my head he thought but decided to make his presence known just incase. "Hello?" Cheveyo called out so he wouldn't scare anyone but walking up on them.

Halting at the voice, the young filly looked around wondering where it had originally come from and if it was worth going to find. She tilted her head as the breeze swept by catching wind of another scent in the area. This made her ears perk up and she looked around more closely. It was then that she saw the larger stallion making her wiggle her tail behind herself. "Are you the one that just spoke?" She asked the other finding it a little more comforting that he was a Cerynei like herself. She thought her breed wasn't very common and was a breed that rarely left the woods. She was wrong apparently and would have to make sure she analyzed things a little bit better next time.
"I see that you clearly have Cerynei blood. Are you lost or trying to find something?" She asked the other as she slowly approached him. She wasn't afraid of anything and approaching strangers didn't make her wary at all. She loved meeting new Soq it was just a little difficult sometimes for her to find someone to talk to. "Oh my manners...My name is Nidawi. What is your name?" She asked him giving him a long blank stare before turning away. She looked into the distance as if she wanted to say something more, but it was nothing. Silence soon enveloped the area as she waited for the other to speak.

Hearing a voice it didn't take Cheveyo long to locate who it belonged to. A young Cerynei belonged to the voice and he smiled at her as she spoke. "I am the one who just spoke yes" he shifted on his feet unconsciously as he listened to the young one. Cheveyo was slightly surprised that she seemed to be out by herself. "I see that you yourself are Cerynei. My name is Cheveyo and it is nice to meet you" he gave a friendly laugh as he answered the next question. "I'm not lost...I don't think" Cheveyo whipped his great tined head around to look at his surroundings. "Nope not lost yet, I'm just out on patrol, checking out new areas" Cheveyo watched the young Nidawi as she seemed to be thinking of something else. "Are you lost? I certainly wasn't expecting to find someone so young out here." He didn't think about how that might offend his young friend. Cheve was almost always out exploring when he was that age.

Eying the older Soq, she took a small step forward to get a better look at him seeing immediately that he was a Cerynei like herself. “I’m only half cerynei. I’m mixed with regular blood too. I’m Nidawi and it’s nice to meet you as well.” She told him. She was brought up on good manners so she wasn’t going to simply blow him off or not introduce herself. That is just rude and it wasn’t her at all. “Lost? No I am never lost. The woods are my home and as long as they are in my sight I will never be lost.” She was being honest and most thought a foal her age shouldn’t be out on their own. She didn’t think this. In fact she believed it was better to explore at a younger age then wait until you are older. Living a sheltered life is never good and could mess someone up mentally. She couldn’t afford that to happen.
“Do you need company while you check for new areas?” She asked him calmly with a small flick of her tail.

The stallion listened to the young one with rapt attention. "Well I have yet to meet someone fortunate enough to be from both the great races. Today is already looking to be an adventure." Cheveyo laughed in a friendly manner. He was struck with the wisdom of her view on never being lost. "I had never thought to put it in that context but that is exactly how I feel about being out in the forest Nidawi." Grinning the stallion dipped his hear to her. "I should be honored to have you accompany me." Cheveyo scanned the are quickly deciding which direction they should take. "These rock formations are quite interesting, see how the land starts to slope and turn, well...rocky. There may be more of them over there." He started off slowly before turning to look at his new companion. "Shall we?"

The young filly tilted her head a little bit at the stallion. Everything was so odd to her, but in oddness there was beauty. she listened to him attentively even though it seemed her attention was elsewhere as she looked around the landscape for a couple seconds. "Honored? Why honored?" This was something she had to ask since it wasn't something she was use to and she didn't understand flattery yet. She was far too young for that. "I feel I should be the one that is honored. Most adults don't seem to want to talk to a child in ways other then treating them like a child. It's refreshing to be talked to in a way that is ambiguous instead of very close-minded. I don't want to be protected, but would rather be shown things." She told him honestly and she probably was a little confusing, but she was alright with how she sounded. "So I thank you for putting up with me." She told him softly as she walked by his side wondering where they were going to end up on this fine day.
"Do you have a family? You seem like your wandering in search of something, but I could be wrong. If you are though...perhaps I can help?" She knew it probably sounded weird for a filly to be offering help to an adult, but it was what she was good at. It was something she could work at making better.

The stallion watched as the young filly spoke, yet seemed to have her mind flowing in many directions. "I would be honored to have your company because you have the spirit of exploration in you." He was not sure how best to explain it. Cheveyo felt that Nidawi would best understand this explanation however. "Well I haven't spent much time around youngsters so lets just break the rules shall we.Today we are just two new friends out on an adventure" He chuckled softly before turning quiet as the question of family was brought up. "I ....lost my family before coming to the Kawani lands." Chev stood still and was lost in his thoughts. "I came with some of my people but have not seen them since...but I've met some lovely soquili here." He shook the memories mentally then glanced down at Nidawi. "I appreciate your offer of help." Cheveyo's smile gave away a hint of sadness. He shook his head as he slowly made his way over the rolling of the land. "And what about your family Nidawi? tell me of them." Chev asked as he carefully made his way the ground becoming churned with rocks and dips. "I wonder where these formations came from." He said quietly as he thought about it.

This was something the young filly never heard before. The spirit of exploration? She assumed it was a good thing, but then again she wasn't entirely sure. Exploring could also get you into a lot of trouble if you stumble upon something dangerous. "I'm sorry to hear that about your family. So you have no one? Not even an adopted mother or father?" She said to him feeling a little sorry for him. She couldn't imagine not having a family let alone someone else to talk to. "If you want and don't mind me being a filly, but I can be someone you can talk to. I can't even imagine what your feeling right now. You have to be so lonely? Are you?" She asked tilting her head kind of understanding it, but not fully. After all, she was young.
"My family? Well...it's rather big. My father just had three boys and two girls. Then my cousin just had three children of his own..the family is getting bigger and bigger. There is also a lot that is expected of us and a lot of drama as well. Something that I'm sure you wouldn't want to hear about.." She said to him lightly giving a long stare at the ground. "I have the hardest task of all of them. Probably the longest as well...so I have to be strong." She nodded looking up at the rock formation with a slight smile. "I don't know, but the earth brings many fascinating structures. Don't you agree?" She asked looking over to him.

As Nidawi talked and asked him about his family and being lonely he allowed himself to remember all the family and friends that were no longer in his life. Cheveyo stopped walking and looked off into the distance for a moment. He sighed and gave the inquisitive filly a sad smile. "No I don't have any adopted family, but I have met some very nice soquili during my time here." He gave a friendly laugh and turned his head to look at Nidawi. "I greatly appreciate having someone I can talk to. It does get lonely not having a family." He nodded thoughtfully. "I try not to dwell long on the bad feelings, I just keep moving and follow where my feet take me." Cheveyo smiled brightly at her. "It's worked out we so far."
Cheveyo listened to Nidawi as she spoke of her family. "Oh my what a large family you have." He beamed at her again then leaned ever so slightly to give her a gentle nudge. "You know little sprite I may be old but I happen to be an expert listener." He lowered his head to look at her better. "So if you need someone to talk to I am all ears." He looked up at the rock formation. "Even if you need to be strong Nidawi, don't let that keep you from asking for help." His gaze was serious but friendly. Looking at the rock formation he couldn't agree more. "Yes it does and how wonderful." Cheveyo stood still just absorbing all her could. "I feel bad for everyone that doesn't stop to notice." He hmmd at the thought.

It saddened her to hear this stallion had no family. Then again she couldn't expect everyone to have someone there with them all the time. "Well if you ever want someone to talk to I can help you with that. Though I live deep in the forest we would have to find a meeting spot and pick a time of day or something." She told him nodding slightly. "You are right. No reason to dwell on what is bad. It will only make you miserable in the long run." She told the large male as she nosed the ground beneath her perking her ears up at the sound of talk of her own family. "Yes I do actually. It can be a little hard getting along with everyone from time to time. Me and my brother's quarrel occasionally about stupid things." She was telling the truth and it was a miracle if all three saw eye to eye on anything.
Did she need help? She never thought about ever asking for help herself, she felt like she should give it rather then receive it. "I don't think I will need help. I guess I never thought about something like that before." She looked up at the sky feeling like maybe it was time for them to part ways. It was getting later and later and she knew her father was probably on the verge of doing his nightly rounds. If she left now she could probably catch up with him. "I hate to leave, but I have to get going..I want to catch up with my father." She smiled slightly and began to slowly walk back towards the forest. "I hope to see you again some day. Maybe when I'm older and on my journey. Just remember this...even when you feel lonely, you are never truly lonely. There is always someone there with you. Your guardian angel will always be there." She said to him giving a small bow of the head. "Have a good evening and be safe." She told him in a very mature manner before walking towards the woods.
