Raven had gone to the market, for she had been online and had stumbled upon a pretty easy looking sushi recipe. She wasn’t even the biggest fan of sushi, but…for some reason, she really wanted to give it another try. Besides, how likely was she to get food poisoning if she was the one making the sushi?
She had a shopping bag full of rice and fish and some seaweed, though…she was pretty sure the guy behind the counter thought she was nuts. Who made their own sushi anyway? What a strange thing to do.
Oh well. Maybe she’d invite Jett over for some dinner…did he even like sushi? Well, that didn’t really matter, he would eat what she made for him, and he would like it. Or she would kick him in the shin. Because that was the relationship that they had.
Although…
Raven touched her necklace and gave a little sigh, smiling. Sometimes Jett was a good boyfriend. Sometimes. But not always. She didn’t want to give him too much credit, after all.

It was trying, being an independent feline.
Sure, there was Raven, the dark mirror senshi who'd so kindly offered her a place to stay. And if she admitted it to herself, there'd be others, mundane human types who just saw a cat in need and their hearts melted. But Sylvia was stubborn; she hated staying in one place for any length of time - she might miss something. Even if it was as dull as the butcher's wife having a baby, so a new person was in charge- someone who didn't take kindly to cats.
Ultimately, she felt you couldn't really know the streets if you didn't regularly put your paws to them. So she persisted in wandering, occasionally fending off the unwise alley cat or two, spending more nights than she cared to admit sharing a park bench with a homeless person. There were some nights, however, when she relented. Some days she could admit to herself that, maybe, it didn't have to be so hard all the time, and if she could just indulge herself she might get used to being a spoiled lap-cat.
This happened to be one of those nights. And so, Sylvia sauntered over to Raven's house, feeling particularly chipper. Anticipation of air conditioning will do that for anybody, she was certain. She'd even tucked a little flea collar into the top of her more ornate one- the girl was being extremely considerate, and besides, fleas were just awful.
And after all, she'd said they were friends.
She made her way to the door, pawing at it and meowing a little impatiently. What she wouldn't give to be taller- or to have thumbs.

Raven was close to her house when she first heard the meows. She slowed her steps and continued walking, pausing when she saw the cat pawing at her door, then broke into a smile. “Sylvia. You’ve come to visit me, hm?” She moved over to the cat much more quickly and leaned down, stroking her head with a hand.
“I suppose…you somehow knew that I was making sushi tonight, yeah? That’s some amazing kitty sense that you have. Do you want to stay for dinner?”
She was excited to see the cat, and she hadn’t really even noticed just how much she had missed her. This was much better than inviting Jett to try the sushi…at least Sylvia liked fish…so…so she might be able to help her out, even. Then she could invite Jett the next time she made the Asian treat.
Besides, Sylvia didn’t seem to be a cat who would coddle her and tell her it was good when it wasn’t…so…in a way, this would be good training. She swung her bag full of fish and rice as she stood up, putting her key into the door, smiling down at Sylvia once before unlocking, then opening the door.
