Barazahi picked slowly and purposelessly across the savannah. These roguelands were so broad, and so... empty. They didn't used to be that way, but now they most certainly were. The last she had seen her mate, Angusho, he was in bad shape, and she had to tend to him. When she came back, however... He was gone. And she hadn't seen him since.
It had been so long since she had lived without him- she fell in love when she was an adol! So it only made sense that this was so hard. But she had lost him a while ago- it was time to move on. Every morning, she did her best to put on a strong face beneath the beauty that always graced her face. She started out from under the shade to try to find food for the day and to cover more ground to nowhere in particular.

Dief woke with a groan and a stretch. He love sleeping on his back as it was most comfortable. It had taken some time collecting all this grass for a soft bed as the PekeNa lands were mostly a rocky area. He blinked awake quickly as he usually did. You never know what could attack when one was asleep.
Proper preparation prevents poor performance and all that was his motto that he lived by. And with another groan he got up to shake away the grass that clung to his fur. He wandered over to the peep hole that was midway on his cave wall home. It didn't look too bad outside for a walk.
"Hmm." Dief flicked his tail and lick his muzzle. "Suppose I could wander the rogue lands for a bit before coming back home."

The blue lioness stared at the sky, trying to ponder her next move with her life. It was difficult to say what she should do; she really had nobody left to turn to for advice. "I've got to find some sort of clue- a push in one direction or another," she said quietly to herself as she padded across the lands. Focusing on what to do next helped her avoid dealing with the loss of her mate, though she'd have to deal with it someday.
Today wasn't the day, though. She thought she caught a scent on the wind, but wasn't overly concerned. A single wild dog, she thought, should be fine.

Dief had been walking for sometime now and had yet to come across a single soul. It was good to stretch out the legs and get to know the lay of the land. Off in the distance he could hear falling water, the first clue that he was coming up to the rogue lands and the second clue was a smell of feline. He paused to debate, it didn't hurt to be cautious especially when lions were envolved. They could be a dangerous enemy when provoked and he was smaller in size.
"Just passin' through," He spoke out loud to let the other know he was about. He decided to state his intentions upfront and out of the way. "I do not want any trouble. I just felt like traveling around the land." He was weary yes but that didn't stop him from being polite."Are you need of assistance?"

The lioness's ears perked up at the sound of the nearby voice. It was probably the wild dog, though her eyes had yet to meet its. Most of the time she would simply call back and move along, but today there was something deep in her that encouraged her to go towards the stranger. "Hello!" she yelled back to the voice, as she changed her direction. "I mean no harm too, and I'm just meandering!" She felt an interaction would help her keep her mind busy, at the very least.
The blue lioness started to approach the lighter wild dog. She tried to look as unintimidating as possible as she approached. She could imagine that it'd be scary for a lion to come trotting up to you, after all. "I don't really need assistance... But I could use some company for a little while, if you're not busy?" She said honestly. She had only spoken to a couple of wild dogs in her life, but all of the ones she had met were pretty nice.

Dief narrowed his eyes briefly taking her in and usually he was a good judge of character. She had a nice truthful face and her offer was pretty tempting. The tribal markings on her fur were very interesting indeed. "Company sounds lovely Miss?" He eyed her cautiously waiting for her name. "At the moment company would be quite lovely indeed. You caught me a quiet moment. I was just wandering around myself. Seeing the sights of the rogue lands. Wool-gathering as it were." He gestured to his head, well his mind if you wanted to be technical. "Have you come across anything of interest?" He knew he sounded hopeful, but he truly was bored and anything that involved adventure would be most welcome.

The blue lioness realized she had not offered her name and hastily moved to remedy this. "My name is Barazahi, but my friends call me Raza," she said with a sweet smile. Such little details in her behavior were almost hardwired by this point in her life- she was used to using her looks to bring about results she wanted, though she wasn't plotting or conniving with it.
"Wool-gathering!" She said happily. She had done that when she was younger, meandering the roguelands herself with her family, but it was an activity she hadn't done in quite a while. "Yes, that sounds just fine," she said happily, already thinking if she had seen anything of interest. She had taken many steps without noticing what was near them... "Hmmm.... I'm not sure, but I came from that way," she said, tilting her head to where she had been walking. "I haven't really been paying much attention," she admitted with a sheepish grin and laugh.Tara de Draiocht Tag! And that's fine. XDDD tyt.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Miss Barazahi," He decided the full name was better for social construct and well he also didn't know if she considered him a friend seeing as they just met. "My name is Diefenbaker, but you can call me Dief if you would like. Most do as the name is much shorter." He was enjoying himself and things were going well-of course not being eaten is always a good sign. "Oh I see-" He nodded at her answer of not paying attention. "Alright I suppose. I guess it is fun to find new things out on ones own." Dief smiled politely and moved closer. "And yes wool-gathering, it can be quite distracting at times. Whether good or bad times it does sneak up." Dief paused when he realized he was babbling. "I think I may take a little break and get back on my journey. Care to join me for a spell? I'm feeling a bit parched. It won't be long, sorry about that, as I have somewhat of a limited time. The pack I am with allow short trips in the rogue lands, but long ones are out of the question."

Raza listened politely as the dog spoke, nodding and smiling where appropriate. "No, I don't mind at all," she responded to his water proposal. She wondered if she might actually be a help to him- water holes are often tense locations, and she imagined it would be even worse if you were a smaller species like a wild dog. Perhaps, for him, having her go with him would ease a little of that tension. She wondered if wild dogs even pondered such things.
"So you're a member of a pack?" She asked. "I've never heard of one that lets members travel alone into the roguelands... That must be rare among wild dog packs?" she asked as she began to head towards a water hole. "It must be nice, though, being able to have a bit of freedom," she said with a nod. Maybe learning about how a different species prefers to live will give her direction for where she should next find a home.

"Indeed, I am part of a pack. The PekeNa tribe is what we are called." He spoke evenly as they both made their way to the watering hole. "We are a select few now a days as many have left to live among the rogues of this land." He inwardly sighed with relief when he spotted up ahead the clear water, it was cool to the taste. Delightful. He raised his head to continue speaking. " It is a pack of only wild dogs. I have seen other prides that have both lions, cheetahs, and wild dogs. It is a wonder how it all works, but they get by so I have no right to judge."
It had been an interesting day. Chatting, as it were, with Miss Raza about a number of things. As a friend once stated "shooting the breeze, enjoy the convo". He found himself smiling thinking of them before Dief shook his head to bring him to present times. "Well, thank you kindly for keeping me company this day, it has been lovely." He spoke those words while standing up from his laying down position. During the course of their they had migrated towards a tree that held shade to converse. "I suppose it is time for me to head back now. Home awaits me, if you ever come back feel free to find me once more. That is if... you don't get lost like I do from time to time. The Rogue Lands are a huge place." He politely nodded his head towards the female before wandering away.
