It was the tombsday he wasn't entirely looking forward to. While Yin said he would come by on the pretense of studying, Mot had doubts that was the full truth. For now, he gave him the benefit of the doubt. He just let himself believe it was for studying. If not? Yin would get a boot out the door. The reaper sat idly at his kitchen table, reading his own books while waiting for Yin to come by at the expected time.
But he never did.
Now, Mot didn't know Yin very well. Maybe he was always late to appointments? But he just didn't seem the type to blow someone off, especially since Mot was taking time out of his own day for Yin's own good. But no knock came.
Was he hurt? Was he in trouble? It was getting to be late.
Mot took out the paper he had from their time at the cafe. Yin didn't have a phone number. He didn't have a phone. If Mot wanted to make sure he was okay? He'd... have to go see him. At his dorm room. It was bad enough he was untrusting of the monster, but that wasn't the worst of it.
Mot was terrified of the Monster dorms. Or to be precise, he was afraid of navigating the Monster dorms.
But now, here he was, outside the large building with bad memories of being lost. Back when he was a year 1. Just a snot. If he recalled, Jerocho had saved him from his dilemma. Whatever happened to that boil?
Mot shook his head and looked at the paper. Ok... Ok just... stay cool..
. . . .
. . . . . . . .
Three hours later, a frazzled and jittery Mot FINALLY found room 217.
He gave the door a knock.

Yin had been in his dorm room for several days. He had not bathed, eaten, gotten less than restful moments of sleep, and was in general...not the type of boil that was suitable for the public eye. He debated not answering his door at all, but there was the possibility it was Miss Danny. And if it was her..she deserved to know the truth. Deserved to know how much he had failed her and the present she had given him.
He forced himself to stand and walk to the door, opening it and staring out the boil in front of him in confusion, having completely lost track of time and not realizing it was Tombsday already. "Mot?" he croaked, his voice hoarse from not being used.

The good news? Yin was alive and not missing. The bad news? He looked terrible.
"Yeah... you know it's Tombsday, right?" Mot asked carefully, tilting his head. "Better yet.. are you okay? You don't look well." Mot was less interested in missed appointments and more worried about Yin's well being.

Yin stared at him for a moment, trying to think about something that had happened less than a week ago but now seemed so very far away. Tombsday? Mot? Studying, right. He cringed slightly bringing up a hand to rub across his face tiredly. "Sorry Mot," he managed to mumble. As for being okay...no, no he was not. "I am physically fine," came the automated response before he all but threw himself at the boil, so desperate in his grief that he was willing to hug someone for physical comfort. This was serious indeed. "She's dead, Mot," he managed to get out as he buried his face in the cowboil's shoulder.

Well, at least he wasn't injured, but that didn't help---
Boom. Yin hug.
Mot was taken aback at first, then wrapped his arms around the poor boil. "Dead? Who is?" Mot asked, a million terrible scenarios running through his mind. The reaper patted Yin's back for comfort, allowing him to take whatever time he needed in his arms. Mot didn't mind being a shoulder to cry on.

Everything was actually okay, Yin just wanted to touch Mot."P-P-Pr-Princess E-Eva," Yin managed to choke out finally. He did not explain who she was, everyone knew about his love for the small rabo.

Unfortunately, Mot was still under the impression Princess Eva was a bondage loving dominatrix. Luckily that didn't make her death any less important. "Oh.." Mot said uncertainly for a moment. Yin was in pain. He'd lost a loved one. And no matter how much Mot didn't understand Yin's apparent love for kink, and no matter how uncomfortable it made him, he needed comfort.
"I'm so sorry, Yin. I really am." Mot patted the boil on the back of the head. He could cry it all out as much as he wanted.

Yin smiled into his shoulder. Aaaaaah Mot touches~
"She was all the family I had," he added weakly, not really minding that tears were soaking into Mot's shirt or how weak he might appear. Or how badly he might smell from not leaving his room for a few days. Energy just seemed to be draining from him as he slumped against the cowboil.
"A hunter killed her," he all but whispered.

Mot felt terribly for Yin. To have only one person they thought of as family, and then to lose them. Yin must have felt so alone. The smell was ignored, or at least tolerated. It wasn't all that important. Not yet. Once Yin was more composed, mot would then try and coax him to have a shower. Or two.
But the information Yin gave him soon after detoured that plan. "....a hunter." Mot repeated. A hunter had.. killed her? Mot's heart felt heavy. Hunters took so much away from them. They caused his friends to hurt so badly. They took Shun's eye, they took Hel's wings, and the took Yin's dear friend.
Mot's grip on Yin tightened, though he didn't mean to. Did he dare ask how it happened? He didn't want to upset Yin further but it was important. "How?"

Just saying it out loud made it all impossibly real. A hunter had killed Princess Eva. The innocent rabo was dead, killed by a hunter's blade. And all for what? Nothing, the entire thing was pointless.
"He was after me," it was hard to get the words out at first, but once he started they began to pour out. "I was the one he was attacking. She came out of nowhere. She just jumped between he two of us and he struck her and she...she...dissipated. She can not come back from that. She...I think she was trying to protect me."
And that made it even worse. He was already beyond saving, already just a hunter tool. And his beloved had lost her life for him? No, nothing was fair about this.

They were after Yin? But... were they trying to kidnap him again? Was Yin still in danger?
"Dissipated? But.. wouldn't she appear in Nurse Cricket's office?" Mot asked, still so certain Princess Eva was a student.

Yin had always assumed that considering the fact that he ate minipets and they never came back that minipets could not reappear.
But now, tearbending Mot gave him hope. "Do you really think a rabo could do that?" There, there was the gleam of energy of the old Yin, a bit of shine to his eyes as he pulled away, hope glimmering. "Nurse Cricket's office can bring back minipets too?"

Wait..
Waaaait...
Awkward moment, go.
"Minipet?" Mot felt terrible.. All the things made sense now. Eva had been a minipet...
"Oh my Jack.. I'm so so so sorry, Yin... I assumed all the time Princess Eva was.. a student.." Now he was ging to crush false hope he had accidentally inflicted on the boil. The guilt began to build. Mot's mouth pulled into a thin line. "No.. mini pets don't.. reform..."

The way that Mot said minipet was somewhat confusing, as if the boil had not know, which was ridiculous considering Yin had once seen him before he had went to purchase things for her in the pet shop.
And why in Halloween would Mot think that she was a student? It would have been wonderful if she was, she would have been the most popular student to ever grace Amityville High. She was perfection. No one could convince Yin otherwise.
Yin's mind was already working things out. Maybe minipets only did not reform if they were eaten, and she had not been. So all he had to do was go to Nurse Cricket's. He started to turn to walk down the hallway, ready to run to her side, not sure why she had not made it back yet, but then Mot spoke again.
No.
There was finality in that word and Yin looked at him, eyes brimming with tears, saw that Mot was telling the truth and that was it. Nope. Done. Eyes already tired from releasing far too many tears over the past several days burned from shedding yet more tears but it was all he could do right now. She was gone, his Princess was gone, and she was never coming back.
A passing gnome rolled his eyes. Boilfriends and their dramaz.

Crap.. he'd broken Yin's heart all over again. Mot seemed to be really good at that.
"I'm sorry..." Mot murmured again, walking forward and holding the boil in a hug again. There was nothing he could say to make it better. He could always try and distract him, sure. He didn't know what would be best.
After a moment, he gave the boil a pat on the back and released him. "Yin.. maybe you should have a shower. You don't smell very nice right now."
