This lifestyle as portrayed in the play, now movie, Rent is the kind that I live. All the music I listen to comes from this notion of the dirty, underground, naked-flats, squatters and homeless-hopeless romantics peddling their art. There are parallels between the poppy-dramatic broadway score of this production and that which is portrayed in the songs of HIM, MCR, The Used...the goth and punk and grunge and emo. Jimmy Eat World, John Mayer, Norah Jones, Sheryl Crowe, nice and easy, jazzy, alternative, not your average s**t-song, but extraordinary s**t-songs made from the real down and dirty do-do that is dramatic song-telling. Aw man, I could get into the individual songs in this show and how they reach down into your soul....but I won't. There's always those that sneak under the radar and portray life through art. I mean really portray it. I'll be damned if the newest rendition of The Fog didn't do that too! For a long time HIM did that, and all those quiet throbbing-vein ones, too.
