Things had been hectic at the Black household as police investigations were conducted and going through Samuel's will had turned out to be a lengthy process. Due to his life insurance, as well as money the man had kept saved, the family was likely to be fine but as a precaution Chase had gone back to work. He had taken up a paid internship at the business his father had worked for, since his father often had him accompany him he had an easy in and while it wasn't what he wanted it was something to keep him busy. Something to keep him out of the house.
At least during the day.
It was the first night that Chase had left his house with the intent of patrolling. It was the first night that he had time to go patrol and the first night he felt comfortable going out and powering up. After his father's death he had hesitated if only because he was on probation of sorts. He had technically been a suspect in a murder and while his name had been cleared and his had been deemed squeaky clean he had been concerned.
He felt it would be best if he didn't do anything the police might think was suspicious.
He hadn't felt as free as he did in a while when he powered up and felt chaos surging through him. Though the last time he had been Captain Labyrinthite it had ended poorly it was a form he felt comfortable in. It was the form that he felt he could accomplish anything. Before his father's appearance that night he had felt powerful, as though he could easily overcome the senshi with little issue.
He would have too.
His father's death had only cemented the idea that the senshi infestation was a serious problem. They needed to be eliminated or turned, letting them go about their business without punishment was unacceptable. He would no longer stand for it, unless it was a senshi who outranked him. One that could overpower him with ease.
Though he was back in the game, Labyrinthite was in no condition to attack those more powerful than him. If he wanted to ensure Negaverse's victory he would have to return to his research and his game of waiting. He would plan, as he did with Iris originally, and take them down one by one.
But he had unfinished business he wished to take care of so, when he stood on the rooftop of the coffee shop he used to work at he sought the aura of an eternal senshi. Or a princess.
He was seeking Iris.

Iris had just parted ways with one of her teammates after an evening patrol. She hadn't gotten the chance to change back when she sensed the energy of a Negaverse captain nearby.
Rather than ignore it, she briefly sent a message to her teammate that there was a Negaverse captain nearby and that she'd investigate, but not instigate anything. If she needed any assistance, she'd send them another message, so stand by.
The blonde meandered about and eventually spotted a coffee shop. In all honesty, the eternal senshi avoided caffeine usually, since it just didn't agree with her. So being around a coffee shop made her lips press into an uncertain squiggle.
She eventually called out "I know yer 'ere! Show yerself!"

He had been standing back, away from the edge as to not be seen, letting his golden eyes survey the area around him. For a brief moment he had closed his eyes, inhaling and exhaling slowly to focus his attention on finding the senshi he was looking for. He felt her energy signal before she called out to him. At first he had been hesitant but he hadn't forgotten the sound of her voice.
He couldn't forget the sound of her voice. Or the sound of her screams. Ever.
A dark grin slid across his face as he slid forward, letting the street light illuminate him. "Who said I was hiding?" He asked thumping the bottom of his scythe against the raised edge. "Hello Iris," he stated stepping forward so the toes of his boots hung over the edge. "It's been a while."
He felt as though he was a villain straight from a superhero or even scary movie. He had been waiting for her; looking for her and was pleased to find that , as always, she seemed to always appear when he wanted her. It felt as though they were always going in some sort of circle, one tailing after the other with the cycle occasionally reversing.
"Do stay awhile and...chat," he told her, tone joking mixed with a tinge of mischief. "Please, I insist." He took a seat on the roof and mockingly patted the space beside him. Naturally he assumed she would refuse but he couldn't help but offer. It was in his nature.

She heard a voice greet her by name, which meant the owner of said voice knew who she was. In all honesty, there was something familiar about this set up, and when she managed to see the reason why, the girl put a serious look upon her face. I won't give you the pleasure...Labyrinthite patted to his side, obviously meant as a teasing poke at her own phobias. He probably didn't expect her to take him up on it, but with one bound, the tomboy was all of a sudden up on the roof as well. She kept a strong, almost fierce expression on her face, but that didn't mean she was 100% okay with this. Her mind was freaking out a bit, but since the incident, she had been working on using roofs a little more if only to get rid of any blatant edge an opponent could use against her. She didn't take a seat, locking her legs somewhat to remain standing tall, keeping a decent distance away from him in case he decided to strike. "...whadaya want, Lab-a-dab-a-ding-dong?" Nuxaz Note: I actually have quotes turned off, so quoting me doesn't do anything xD <3

He was surprised, shocked really, when she more or less accepted his offer to join him on the rooftop. He had figured that she would rather remain rooted to the ground if only because of their history. Because of her fears. While he was caught of guard he managed to conceal his surprise nicely only arching a brow at her when he shifted his position to better face her.
"Looks like this fairy is proud of her wings," he taunted slightly. Again he patted empty space beside him. "But you won't sit beside me?" He pretended to be wounded by her rejection. "It hurts." He knew, knew if he was in Iris's shoes he too wouldn't be so quick to sit beside an enemy. One who hadn't hesitated to toss her off a building before.
But he wasn't here for a fight, he wouldn't last in a fight tonight. He was here for a conversation this time. He would seek her out later, he was sure, for a battle in the future but now was not the time.
He was silent like he was considering her question carefully not bothered by her taunt with his name. He let her call him a myriad of things, this one was the least offensive of them all. "It is simple, dear," he began to explain spreading his arms out in the air. "I merely wish to have a conversation with the tomboy princess."

If anything, he wasn't starting this conversation off on the right foot. Her expression occasionally twisted from the fierce, stern expression into something a little more animalistic, snarling (in a sense) when he struck a nerve. It honestly wasn't very hard to do with her. Her arms were soon enough crossed, folding in front of her chest as the Captain revealed his intents. Seemingly already out of patience, she growled out emphatically "Okay... so talk!" He was beating around the bush, and it didn't bode well to her.

He had always been good at striking nerves. Whenever he was angry, truly angry, he would lash out at people saying things he knew would sting, knew would hurt then he would follow up with something that would only drive the knife deeper in the wound. He had never been good at stopping while he was ahead.
No, the captain always had a tendency to keep pushing, keep digging until he struck gold or struck out. All or nothing, that was his mindset more often than not.
"You thanked me the last time you saw me," he began having been silent as a result of her snarling response to his last sentence. He was watching her, studying her wanting to know more of what made her tick. He had gathered so much information on her prior but it wasn't enough. Never enough. He wanted more, craved more so that he would once again be able to bring her down even if she brought him down along with her.
"Claimed that I was the catalyst that had lead you into the road of discovery," he rambled waving a hand about as he pulled himself to his feet. He moved forward, keeping distance between them but closing it at the same time. He froze, smiling at her. "Told me that I helped you realize what was important and that eventually it lead to you discovering that you were a princess," he continued staring at her. He let his gold eyes meet hers and kept her gaze. He refused to look away.
"Did you know that you were the catalyst for me?" He asked cocking his head as he awaited her answer.

He was watching her, and she was doing the same back, eyes narrowed in an intense manner. She didn't trust him, and she had no reason to. He rambled briefly over their most recent encounter (which hadn't ended very well for him), mentioning words that she had told him. Her words weren't necessarily her words, but the only one who would ever truly know this as a fact would be Iris herself. She looked as if she was about to interject with a simple "Is there a point to all of this?" However, then he got to the point. She barely shifted, and her rough expression remained just as rough. The blonde eternal senshi really didn't even answer his question when he asked. Instead she just scoffed "...Not surprisin'... I tend t'start sh*t..."

He didn't like that she had become irritated or bored as he went off on his little tangent. He knew that he had been rambling but he had expected her to listen. His expression darkened and his fingers curled tightly into his palms, nails digging into his skin as he struggled controlling the anger that had begun to boil within him. When he stopped talking he merely pressed his lips together and swallowed dryly, eyes trained upon her waiting for her reaction.
What was it about this senshi that got under his skin?
It was like they were always playing some sort of twisted game of cat and mouse, constantly going back and forth. It was infuriating but he couldn't seem to stop himself from always seeking her out. He was a little obsessed, clearly at the stalker level, but he didn't think it would be something he would ever truly be able to contain.
"You were my beginning," he stated, his sentence vague and unclear. He didn't bother to elaborate, she probably wouldn't have understood. "Clearly because I don't seem to be the only one with...beef with the rainbow fairy," he taunted a twisted smirk gracing his features. He shook his head, looking away for a moment before snapping his head back towards her.
"Were it not for you it's likely I wouldn't have headed down this path," he started to ramble gesticulating wildly. "I fear I must thank you," he said with a grimace. It was as though the very idea disgusted him. "You were the beginning but everything you senshi do just proves to me that you are a problem and must be dealt with." He was tempted to rush at her, potentially attack but he kept himself in place.
If he engaged in any sort of fight with the princess he would lose, of that he was certain.

"I'm pretty sure that about a room full of Negas take issue with me now." There had been a lot of Negaverse agents and Dark Mirror Senshi that had ambushed the meeting which Polaris had held. A vast majority of the chaos inflicted persons more than likely felt the power of her crystal. She had kept her powers on the down-low, but now there was no avoiding any grudges others might have had against her. Her body seemed to loosen up slightly, hoisting one hand firmly upon her hip, instead of remaining closed off with her crossed arms. However, she didn't seem relaxed by any means. "Don't tell me yer gettin' all sentimental, Laba-daba-ding-dong..." He obviously wasn't, and her statement obviously wasn't meant to be serious. He did say one thing that did seem to cause any momentary humor to get tossed out the window. "...If ya ask me... this is th'Civil war, and th'Negaverse is th'South..."

He hadn't been at the ambush but he had been privy to information about the incident. He had wanted to be there but it had happened during more pressing...personal times. Entering the battle had not been practical and he had long since accepted that. "Is that surprising?" He asked, almost rhetorically.
He watched her, expression even as she taunted him again. A cool smile spread across his lips as he ran his hand through his hair. "Only a little, am I boring with all this talk?" He joked. "Is it hard for you to keep up with?" He teased halfheartedly. Though they had the habit of constantly taunting one another the captain knew that there would soon reach a point where Iris would tire of talking and attempt to engage in battle.
They would duel again, soon but today would not be that day.
"From the view of you and your people perhaps, though we beg to disagree," he replied coolly, unphased by her analogy.
Tilting his head back he gazed up at the sky briefly before returning his attention to her. "I fear our time together is growing short," he said sympathetically as though it would be a sad thing to go separate ways.

"Not boring..." Boredom was not what she felt. Agitation was something that was growing inside of her as certain emotions were pricked at by the boy's words. Her face was starting to betray her, a far more serious and irritated expression touching her features. It wasn't the teasing which bothered her. It was his perspective on things. It was the knowledge that the perspective the Negaverse had was warped. That blue-haired knight had certain screeched enough on the subject at the meeting, and even a casual listener was still able to catch many of her major points. When he seemed to prompt her about their time together drawing near, she shook her head. "Naw... we're done..." She neared the edge of the building they were upon. She was looking to the streets, as if preparing herself mentally for her drop back to the ground. However, she spoke up to Labyrinthite with one last comment. "However... food fer thought before I go... Next time I see ya, I want ya t'tell me where ya think I was born..." With that, she dropped off the edge of the building of her own will. She didn't want his answer now. The drop wasn't far, and soon enough she landed solidly on the ground. It took her several seconds before she straightened up from where she stood, then rushed off. She knew she'd see him again. The city was large, but it truly was a small place.

There were few who would dare to question the captain's faith and loyalty to the Negaverse. He was solid in his belief and the ideals that had been thrust upon him since he joined his fellow officers. He had seen first hand what the senshi were capable and how they wished to take over the earth. Their home, their kingdom. He would combat any verbal arguments the senshi would throw his way.
He was a dedicated, loyal soldier only headed further into Metallia's clutches. He regretted none of his actions, not even the ones that cost him his father's life. The negaverse had a purpose, a direction that Labyrinthite was determined to follow. He had always been quick to fall in line when it came to his other life, after all darkness had quickly become his friend.
Next time I see ya, I want ya t'tell me where ya think I was born...
Her words echoed in his mind as he was given no time to retort, no time to react because she dropped off the building with ease. He moved forward, peering over the edge to watch her fleeting form. His movements were mechanical; a slight shake of the head, a heavy sigh and a slow turn on his heel before he retreated in the opposite direction.
Their meeting was over as quickly as it had began but, as always, he knew they would meet again. They always came full circle.
