 She knew by the smell that she was near a pack's boundaries. That still didn't stop Kelrayiss. She was friendly and happy to go where her feet took her. They often lead her fun and exciting places. Like now. Before her was, well a lot of space that had holes all over it. Eagerly she barked and stuck her nose down a hole. Now this might not have been a good idea, except she couldn't smell anything except warm fuzzies. Kelrayiss tried to bark with her muzzle down the hole.
Oh! What did she hear? Her ears twitched as they caught a faint echo from another hole. She looked up then back down her hole. Could there be? The grey dog bounded over to the nearest hole and barked again. This time she listened hard. Yes! Yes she heard it! There was a wild dog down here! How could the warm fuzzies have gotten him or her down there? She didn't see any big holes. Kelrayiss tried to find the closest spot to the trapped dog.

 The day had gone while enough in Dief's mind. The weather was fine, PekeNa was quiet like most days, and Dief felt the need to explore. So naturally Rogue was his first thought. He stopped now and then to greet other pack members as well as eat a bit of breakfast. Never travel on an empty stomach as you never know when you will be eating.
Full stomach and good spirits he set off on his journey. Hours later he found himself wandering around a piece of land with holes that ranged from deep to shallow.
He let out a sigh in embarassment at his current situation, it of course was an accident and he should have paid attention at the time instead of thinking about future prospects. He looked around at the rocks around him and spotted no foot holes to pull himself out. It was frustrating. His only hope was for someone to find his sorry self stuck down here.
It seemed like it had been hours stuck in this heated pocket within the earth when out of the blue a barking started above ground. He stumbled on all fours and let out an answering howl. Dief, not paying attention, smacked his sore paw on a stone near him and whined at the sudden pain.
Dear god. He would never go near the pot-holed fields again.

At first she was only hearing her own echo, not realizing it was herself. She truly thought another dog was stuck down there. Kelrayiss moved to several different holes trying to find the source. Then suddenly a howl answered her. It sounded different that the one she'd been hearing before. Her head tilted first one way then the other. More than one dog? Oh dear this was. Very bad!
"Hallooooooooooooooooooooooo!" Kel called down a hole. Why were dogs down the holes? Tiny holes. She thought about the female she'd recently met that her pack only came out at night. Did they live down there? Or something more sinistar? She suddenly remembered the pack smell nearby. Could these be bad dogs that the pack sent here to punish? She certainly didn't want to join them, and now she rather regreted revealing herself to them.

Dief slowly wandered down the tunnel and peeked through the tiny hole. He spied a violet eye peering down at him. "Why hello there, it would appear I found myself... stuck in in the tunnels." He coughed and almost blushed with embarassment. " I fear many hours have passed since being stuck in here. Is the sun low in the sky? Or is it mid-day?" He had started with mini-adventure in the morning. He sneezed as a dusty-dirt cloud tickled his nose.
"Do you see an exit up there?" Dief was hopefully as he did not want to die in a dirt hole in the earth in the middle of no where.

Kelrayiss nearly jumped out of her skin as she glimpsed a dog-shaped shadow below her. In fact she jumped back and yelped, "bad dog bad dog!" Somehow, if he got a hold of her he would pull her in too! Causiously she listened, her head cocked to one side. He said he was stuck? Well of course a bad dog would be stuck! For many hours? Was it a temporary punishment then? He could leave after a certain time. Kel looked up at the sky around her.
"It's just past sun-high. What did you do to get thrown down the hole? How long is your punishment?" She hoped he told the truth. When he asked for an exit, she was reluctant to look around. It would be bad to let him out. Still she glanced around. Nope just tiny holes. Kel breathed a sigh of relief. She creeped to the hole he was standing under. If she turned her head just right, light would make it down the hole and she could faintly see him.

Bad dog? He mouthed the words while blinking in confusion. He cleared his throat and pawed at his ear. "It would appear-" He raised his voice a little bit. "That there has been some confusion. You see, I am not infact eh- um bad dog or being punished. I simply fell down into one of the larger holes and have been traveling underground looking for a way out. I would very much like to be up top."
He moved further down and came upon a much larger hole. It was a female and from what he could make out a light grey female wild dog at that. "If you would be so kind as to help a stranger out? I would very much appreciate it. You wouldn't happen to have a vine or rope like apparaus would you? I could or you for that matter could use your paws to dig out a larger hole for me to fit through." He was already planning his escape as two was better than one.

She eyed him suspiciously a moment. Kelrayiss wasn't a very suspicious dog and quickly decided that no he didn't look anything like a bad dog. Of course she wasn't sure what would, but that hardly mattered. She could totally understand falling down a hole. The poor guy.
"Well I suppose I could help. I'm not going anywhere particular." She happily eyed the situation and quickly determined that no she didn't have a vine or rope. Kel didn't know how he planned to use such a thing if she had. However, digging was something she could get. The grey female examined the hole and determined the most suitable place for a ramp. Then the dirt was flying. Some if had to go down the hole after she'd widen it a bit to form the base of the ramp down there.
"Watch out below!" She hallared down then started shoveling dirt with her nose.

Dief sighed softly in relief when she agreed to help. "Duelly noted," He spoke before quickly backing up when dirt began to ran down onto his semi-dirty self. "Just a little bit closer.. little bit closer-ah. There we go. I am coming up now." He warned before he wiggled his way out using his claws as anchors as he climb sideways along the dirt walls. Without the other wild dogs help, it would have taken twice as long and not to mention the dirt itself would have buried him; therefore, making the situation worse. He was free. Thank goodness, another second and he would have gone crazy. He shook himself heavily trying to disspell any dirt that clung to him from the climb.
He turned to his rescuer, "Than-chuu!" He sneezed before he could express his greatfulness. "My apologizes miss and thank you kindly for the rescue. The name is Diefenbaker." He made a gentlemanly bow. "I fear I have been in that hole for quite some time. I hope my pack members haven't sent out a search party for me." He knew he was hinting about returning home but it was the truth.

While he encouraged, she worked just a little bit harder. Kel wouldn't want to be down that hole either. She worked to make it big enough for him to squeeze through. Telling him to dig in certain places too. When he finally popped free, she hopped back on two feet. Her tongue lolled out as she panted; mostly covered in dirt. Bright pink eyes watching him as he shook. Oh yeah. She gave a shake of her own, but not nearly as hard.
"Welcome," she interpreted his sneeze for the thank you it was. Kel grinned at him. "Happy to help Diefenbaker! I'm Kelrayiss. I haven't seen anyone if that helps." She tilted her head. "Do you belong to that pack who's boundaries I smelled awhile ago?"

"Indeed I do Miss Kelrayiss. We are a select few, a wild dog pack only. We are called the Peke'Na and I am afraid I can't go into much detail without giving away secrets. We are a private bunch when it comes to certain things, but alas, if you want to know more I will gladly take you to the elders or you can join." Dief smiled while slowly wagging his tail content to be out of the dark, small, and smelly underground cave. "Infact I think it's time I had back home now seeing as I was out longer than I thought-" He eyed the sun's position. "You are most welcome to join me if you wish to check out my pack lands, but if not I will say my goodbyes now." He nodded politely.

He called her Miss. She tilted her head and nearly giggled. Her name sounded funny with that. Kel perked her ears up. "Really? Only wild dogs? That's interesting. I'd love to learn more...... oh." As curious as she might be, joining a pack wasn't in her forseeable plans. A pack stayed in one place. They lead boring lives as far as she was concerened.
"While I'd love to stay and chat I think I'd better be going now. Happy I could help you and stay out of holes!" Her laugh floated back as she pranced away, heading away from the pack and him.
