Down the road a pace from the other bunks is a rather neglected bunk by most campers; it's name, the Annual Ball Bunk. This seemingly lonely bunk is the home of the imaginative lot who has staffed Annual Balls for Gaia, but being away from all of the other bunks for so long has gotten this lot rather down. So, everyone in Annual Ball Bunk decided to get together, scrub the wooden camp floors, remove the dead bugs from the windows, change the light bulbs, and hang a large welcome banner in front of the door. They've worked so hard making this bunk ready for you. Won't you join them?

Councillor Steven Jane Hendricks........
Meet, Steven Jane Hendricks. A 25 year old, head strong counselor of this camp for a few years. He is headstrong, nosy, and complains when anything doesn't go his way. He is a stickler for order, his order. Being the counselor for these years has taught him a lot, about people, and the wilderness, some think he even has a secret cabin somewhere far off when he needs a break from this "devastatingly difficult job". He is a counselor and is also quite reserved, after all and does his best to make sure the environment is safe, fun, and orderly, according to his say so of course. Deep down though, past the stern demeanor and reserved attitude, he loves this camp, and it's children and does his best for them all.
Councillor Candice McCathy........
Candice is the female Camp Councilor, and has been for four years running. She's certified in CPR, First-Aid, and MAT (Macaroni Art Therapy). Candice loves nothing more than keeping campers happy and entertained, and nothing makes people more happy and entertained than arts and crafts time! She loves drawing, painting, making sculptures, decorating T-Shirts, going on nature hikes, swimming in lakes, singing campfire songs and playing capture the flag! She is fun and carefree, but takes her job as a councilor very seriously. Peace, love, and safety are her number one priorities!
Cassandra J. Van Drear the Camp Bully......
She's the Classic tough girl you don't want to start a fight with. Bouncing from foster home to foster home since she was little, she tends not to make friends so easily as she does her enemies considering her harsh words. If you have a flaw expect her to smear it in your face. Fat? Geek? Freak? Only the tip of the iceberg for her vocabulary. She's been coming to this camp for the past three years and couldn't be happier that she won't be coming back next year. So she's got something big planned for her camp finally. Smaller campers try to stay on her good side, but that doesn't mean you're safe from her harsh 'pranks.' Though that's just how she gets away with things. She has no problem taking your desert or even shoving her way to the front of the line for anything. Being she's seventeen, she is older then most of her cabin mates.Secretly, she's a good writer so she's known for her Ghost stories and making sure everyone has trouble sleeping with the lights off. She only here because her foster family wants a bit of a 'break' from her. She also has a habit of sneaking away and smoking a quick cigarette behind the cabin when the counselors aren't looking but no one would dare rat her out on it. Oh, and it's Cass, Not Cassy. Don't Forget it.
Larisa Boreyev the Computer Nerd......
When she's not on tumblr, she's on deviantart. Or possible on programming forums. She spends all of her time talking and chatting with online friends, so she hasn't made any real life friends. Not that she feels the need to make any. Everyone is stupid in her town, especially her dumb parents who can't even use a computer. Unfortunately, those aforementioned parents decided Larisa needed to go outside, so they took away her laptop (but not her phone, which could both program and access tumblr) and sent her to this horrible camp thing. In her free time, Larisa enjoys watching Adventure Time, talking with her real friends on tumblr, and programming. Her worst fear is someone trying to talk to her, in which confronted with that situation she would politely stutter and run, or someone stealing her glasses, in which she would probably just fall down, roll around, and embarrass herself.
Allison McMillan a Perkygoth......
A fifteen-year old, this girl is full of energy! Her parents don't really get in her way of loving things, so she has... odd tastes. Like the Cthulu Mythos, the books of which are her absolute FAVORITE to read! Heck, she loves anything paranormal so if you want to talk to anyone about that, go to her! However, her social skills aren't that good, so she doesn't have many friends. Her parents sent her to camp to have her try to make friends, and also to get her out of the house a little.
Nana the trouble-maker......
Nana is the type of girl who knows what she likes and what she doesnt. She's a sarcastic, fun loving, trouble maker. Sneaking a cig when ever she can while flirting with the fellow female camp members. Nana likes to play her guitar when she can and listen to her mp3 player when she cant.
Matt the Ultra-Goth......
Why is this kid even at camp? Writes a ton of depressing poetry and horror stories during story time. He loves the dark cause that's the only thing that embraces him (according to him). Ghost stories are one of his specialities and he's a good guy at heart. He's listening to music when there's nothing to do. He's pale cause of lack of sunshine.
Gunther Scott the Boy Scout......
Meet Gunther. Tall, lean, and a little on the odd side, Gunther is a naturalist. Totally at home in the outdoors, he loves camping, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, climbing, diving... you name it, he's game. Not so overly fond of technocrats, Gunther prefers to make love, not war, and usually just tends to ignore them. Although his social life isn't the most healthiest, he certainly is a survivalist.
Mika Rin Khan the Cutie-Pie......
Mika is a very cheerful and child-like girl. She loves animals, rainbows and cupcakes. In a situation she is enthusiastic and tries to see the best in people. She acts grateful and is almost every adults dream child. One fault however is that when she gets sad, she can be a bit of a crybaby.
Chi the Art-freak......
Chi is the full on artist. She loves to read mangas to get ideas for her next projects. She specializes in anime characters but draws beautiful flowers and makes the most gloomy people pop with color in her paintings. She doesn't like her real name and insists everyone calls her Chi instead. She carries all her art supplies in the cute purple bat bag.
Isaac the Freaky Science Kid......
Isaac used to greatly dislike the idea of going to 'camp'. He figured there were plenty of better things to be doing with his time. Unfortunately(?) for him, one year his parents didn't give him much of a choice and shipped him off to Science Camp for the summer. Despite his protests, his parents still made him go. Once there, he tended to keep to himself and refused to take part in the activities. However, as the summer wore on, he actually started to become interested in the various activities the others were doing each day until he himself was a regular participant. By the end of the summer, he was practically begging the counselors to let him stay. Unfortunately a new school year was around the corner and he had to bid the camp farewell. After this, he gained a brand new appreciation for Camp and all it has to offer. Even if it isn't necessarily Science Camp. He loves all things sciency nowadays and is a wiz at making various reactive compounds. He uses his knowledge to get into a little mischief now and again, but it's all in good fun. Fun for him at least. Unless there is some sort of science going on he tends to simply mind his own business and will keep to himself for the most part, but if approached he will gladly strike up a conversation about just about anything. Though he would prefer science as a topic of course. He isn't exactly athletic, but he's not a weakling either. Finally, he won't likely admit it, but the glasses are just for show. He doesn't actually need them nor do they actually act like real glasses.
Eugene Thompson the Camp Ghost......
Every good campsite has to have a ghost story or two - maybe even a ghost! If you're in the Annual Ball Cabins, you're sure to hear his story... The little boy who choked to death when he accidentally swallowed a frog by the creek that runs through the NSTG Campgrounds. They say, on clear and quiet nights, you can hear him imitating the frogs and running up and down the stairs to the cabins and tapping on windows and doors, moaning for someone to let him in! Sometimes he will even possess the A/C units in the cabins and make them play showtunes.... Spooky!! Of course everyone knows that Eugene is just like any other camper, just a lot less... alive.
Despite his un-life, Eugene is pretty cheerful! He'll readily help whoever asks him, no matter their side or style. He is quirky and a bit sarcastic at times, and though mischievous he doesn't mean any harm. He is heavily associated with frogs, and is even accompanied at all times by an amphibian attendant!
Why is he still at camp? Hey, what do you expect from a ghost? He haunts the place! That and he really loves doing macaroni noodle portraits and s'mores.
Edwina "Ed" White the Leader of the "Lost Boys"......
Ed is an intellegent, devious, smart-mouth who is always thinking of the next prank to pull on campers and/or councilers. Ed loves causing a little chaos at the boring old camp, and to instigate things like foodfights, putting plastic wrap on toilets, that thing where you put shaving cream in someone's hand. She does have a tendancy to take things a little to far, and embarass someone to the point of tears. She not a mean person, just up herself a lot of the time.
The reason Ed is at camp is because it's a family tradition to send your kids to the camp for one summer when they were fourteen. So keeping up with the tradition, Edwina had been shipped off to camp.
The reason Ed loves to pull pranks at camp is because it's another family tradition. The Lost Boys were founded by her eldest brother. She has four older brothers and they have all led the Lost Boys when they came to camp. They taught her everything they knew, so when she went to camp she'd be prepared.
Back then, when her older brother ran the show, the entire group was in fact an all boys group, but things have changed since then, and the group allowed in girls over time. The title however, remains.
Lily Morrel the Quiet Twin......
Quieter than her twin, Lily prefers to read a book rather than dance to music. She has a sweet tooth and her favorite treat is s'mores so when it comes time for the campfire she's the first to go for the marshmallows. Being the more logical twin she is often coming up with plans for the duo and Lost Boy group to do. And just because she's a girl in the group doesn't mean you should take her for a girly girl either, she can have a temper and snap when annoyed enough. Most of the time Lily can be found close to her twin or, if her twin is busy, with her group as she feels most comfortable with them. One of her interests, besides books and sweets, is collecting random colorful or shiny objects. Underneath her bed can be found an old tin latchbox in which she keeps her lovely "treasures" including foil, oddly shaped rocks, glow sticks (some used and not used), a spork or two, a small mirror, and other assorted objects.
Having been sent to the camp for many years because of their parents needing a break from their pranks and mischieviousness, Lily and her twin have become good friends with a certain few individuals at the camp creating a sort of "Lost Boys" feel to them, even though many of them are girls rather than boys. Though their parents get the yearly break the poor camp staff and campers get their yearly dose of trouble at the same time every year. Only once has the duo ever been caught and even then the evidence against them somehow disappeared and they were released without punishment.
Lila Morrel the Hyper Twin......
Lila is the more outgoing of the twins and is always ready to do some prank or just play a game, she might not be the planner of the pranks her twin comes up with but she does a great job in executing them on the people of the camp. Lila is easily effected by sugary things and goes very hyper when she even has just a small amount, she likes to play rough and will even tackle some of the boys trying to get them to wrestle her. she is also easily entertained and laughs at almost everything, she hasn't been seen being serious once during her time at the camps.

Emma Lowery the Inventor......
A fun-loving and bright girl, Emma came to this camp to do what she does best. Craft. But these aren't your ordinary arts and crafts. An extraordinary inventor, Emma can make anything. With whatever you have, she can make whatever you need--and fast.
Emma Lowery the Camp Maverick......
A fun-loving and bright girl, Emma is always looking for something new to invent or re-design. However, she can be quite serious at times and can spend hours working on a single project (but it usually doesn't take that long). She loves making things to make others happy. However, don't offer her a s'more. For some strange reason, she doesn't like them, but give her a toasted marshmallow and she'll be happy.
Reason for Coming to Camp: Emma came to this camp to do what she does best. Craft. But these aren't your ordinary arts and crafts. An extraordinary inventor, Emma can make anything. With whatever you have, she can make whatever you need--and fast. . . . Another tiny reason why she came here is because her parents told her to . . .
Muddy Molly the Messy one......

[INSERT CLEVER NAME HERE] Here's a treat for the most active ones in the thread - whenever someone gets the first post on the pages listed below will win themselves a sketch either of an OC (does not have to be the Camp character you are using) or your avatar! The art will be provided by Parae811, the amazing artist behind the High Adventure room's portraits in the 10th Annual Ball. To be fair on the artist, though, the avatars should not be too cluttered if you ask for art of the avatar rather than the character.
Winning Pages:
7 - 14 - 21 - 28 - 35 - 42 - 49 - 56 - 63 - 70

Q) What is the Annual Ball? The Annual Ball is one of the largest user run events on Gaia Online. This tradition dates back to March 2003 when a user by the name of Misao decided to host a Ball for his fellow Gaians. The 1st Annual Ball was the first user run event on Gaia and received a great deal of support from the site administration. Since its conception, the Annual Ball has grown into a much larger celebration with more diversified themes each and every year. The Annual Ball has experienced many changes throughout the years, but the one thing that remains the same is the great friendly atmosphere that Gaians have come to love. The Annual Ball is considered a place where Gaians can come together to meet up with old friends and make new ones. This commemoration is deeply rooted in role play elements, but for many the Annual Ball is considered a wonderful excuse to hang out and share fond Gaia memories.
Q) How does it work? This is a 3 day roleplaying event. There is usually a main host that oversees and coordinates the entire ball and then there are several rooms that fit under the main theme of the entire ball. Each of these rooms have their own co-hosts that run their respective rooms with their own mini themes. All main rooms will have their own thread in the ball's forum, but users are free to make their own threads in the forum, as well. These will not be official, though; the ball's official rooms will be stickied for convenience. Guests are encouraged to hang out in these rooms, but will not be limited to them.
Q) Do I have to make a character for this? You don't have to create a character specifically just for this event; you can play as yourself or as a character you've created. Dressing up is also not mandatory, but it sure is a lot of fun if you decide to deck your avatar out for the appropriate theme!
Q) Is this an official event? This isn't an official event from Gaia as it is user-run. We are merely supported by the admins (ie. the forums).
And for the LAST time. This is not the anniversary ball, that's in February and is an actual Gaia Online admin-run event.
Q) Will I get a free item? You might win some prizes in the various rooms, but you will not be receiving an exclusive event item from this ball. Gaia gave out special items during the first two balls, but has decided against doing it anymore in order not to show too much favoritism to any user-run event.
Q) What were the previous balls like? In 2003, Misao made the 1st ever Annual Ball. The admins were so impressed with what she'd done that they released the red rose corsage and black bow tie for her ball. Note that these were the first non-store items on Gaia ever!
In 2004, Misao refused to make the next annual ball convinced that the greed on Gaia was far too much to yield it. In light of that challenge, Setzer appeared. He made a topic in QnF calling for people to help out and make the 2nd Annual Ball. This year, instead of one host there were many each with their own distinct rooms. It gained so much popularity amongst the users that Setzer decided to ask for our own forum to party in. As some of you know, the answer was yes. This was the first time Gaia had ever opened a Forum up for a user run event. Really this ball is extraordinary. Not only that, but again the admins seemed to be impressed and decided to release the G-pins (much to everyone's surprise since we (the hosts) didn't think there would be ANY items involved.
In 2005, it was that time again. Setzer passed the torch onto Razumi Yazura to host the 3rd Annual Ball since Setz thought that it would be best to change the main hosts every year (a very wise decision). That year we developed a theme which was planetary. All the rooms were based off of planets, but they each had their own underlying themes. Again the ball gained popularity and of course we asked for a forum. But this time we were getting the mansion! This of course was the first and last time the mansion was going to be opened for a User event. No items this year, but it was still a HUGE success!
In 2006, the fourth annual ball was hosted in a guild , due to unforseen complications, and the fact that the admins didn't want to open up the mansion for the ball. The slim staff of 16 worked day and night a mear two months before the official date of the ball, to keep this seemfully dying tradition alive. No official host was named this year, and command was shared between all those who were involved. Needless to say it was a quiet year that year, but it was the first ball that had a plot totally made by the users! Quiet, but still a success and fun!
In 2007, Leyna hosted this year's ball and the moderators allowed the ball the have it's own forum for the 5th Annual Ball for the public to join in on the fun. The Ball's theme this year was Elements and it was quite exciting being able to make it public once more to a new generation of Gaians. It was a huge success and helped to open up the Ball to more people to help.
In 2008, with the Ball so successful as the year before everyone wanted to make this year's the biggest and best of them all. This year's host was chosen to be Freaksrus! Again for the 2nd time in a row the Ball was able to successfully gain a forum for the6th Annual Ball. The ball was able to gain new ideas with the publicity of the last year and the ball's theme was chosen to be Time Periods after a quick change. Despite being a previous theme chosen for the 2nd Annual Ball all that participated had a ton of fun especially with a fun twist on the plot and the Ball's first time have it drawn out Manga style!
In 2010 the Ball was, once again, a huge success. It was perhaps the biggest success that the Annual Ball had reached up to date. With its theme of Mt. Olympus and the greek gods, it was a heavenly delight for everyone involved. This ball was a more educational ball as each of the hosts did their research and played an authentic figure from Greek Mythology. Everyone had a blast at this ball, setting a new standard to achieve for all the balls to come.
2011 featured a new theme: the 7 Deadly Sins. Princess Angelishia hosted as the princess of the pride palace, and each of the seven rooms featured a combination of sins and their opposites. It was a lot of rooms, but it was successfully pulled off thanks to all the hard work from everyone involved. It was concluded by a large after-party in towns for all the guests, hosts, and co-hosts to go nuts (and they pretty much did!)
2012 was our last ball, presenting a story about the failing world of dreams, and its restoration. Broken_Bleeding_Angel was the main host, playing the Dream King, and LilChibiUsa was her CO playing the Dream Queen. Each room's plot resolution provided a key step in saving all of the dream worlds from being lost. This was the 10th Annual Ball and a milestone for the User-Fun Annual Ball.
2013 -- this year has yet to be written, but with everyone's help it will be everything that the past years have been and more!
