The Squire was cursing. Ranting, more like, pacing the roof of Crystal Academy and thinking about a few things that had happened during her day. There were so many times she wished she could just slap duct tape over the mouths of her students and call it a day. It would make her life so much easier. She was supposed to be patrolling but instead here she was doing nothing.
Oddly, she liked it. ******** patrolling, this was a night off that just didn't know it yet.
She headed down from the roof and decided to take a stroll around the grounds. There was a park nearby. She got used to being out in costume and no longer was self conscious of the looks she'd get or the attention she might draw. She didn't want to gain notice but she didn't mind it, either. Until she demonstrated power she was just a girl in a costume.
Sure, it probably would have been better to power down if she was taking a night off but this way she could pretend she did her job. It wasn't her fault she didn't feel any agents of chaos nearby. She was looking, honest. A grin broke over her features and she almost laughed.

Every night was like a night off for Kailash, with how little actual work he put into any of this. The previous meetings for the good of the Order side had sparked a little bit of inspiration to go out and do his duty, oddly instead of stashing his pipe somewhere and never looking back because of all the crazy s**t that tended to happen. But, he never really got that far into it.
The Page had also figured this would get Sailor Iris off his back and stop nagging to take all this s**t seriously, among other lectures she gave him though had she given him the one he feared she would give him? But yeah, after about half an hour of walking and bounding like a super hero, he had gotten tired and winded and needed a smoke break that was lasting longer than his patrol like usual.
It wouldn't have taken a rocket scientist to figure out that if you took something off your persons and set it next to you as you transformed, that the object wouldn't disappear with your clothes and what else you had on you. It was wonderful to have his cigarettes. And in the setting on a wonderful park, even if it was near a school of spoiled rich girls. No matter, their benches were comfy and Kailash enjoyed sitting upon it in a rather lazy manner, also not really caring he was still in costume.
It proved to be a good detection device at least, so that he wouldn't be snuck up on again and almost get his starseed taken or something. Though, tonight seemed like he was going to be meeting a colleague. Lazily, his yellow eyes drifted to where Shalott was approaching from once she was in range - which.. wasn't too far off really.

There...that power signature. Damnit! Shalott knew she couldn't get a night off. She just knew it! Sure there wasn't a chaos signature around that she could tell but any time she ran into another agent of Order trouble was sure to follow. The Squire hopped down from where she was, landing lightly on the ground, and moved toward it.
At least the Page seemed to be comfortable. She put her hands on her hips and felt more than a little put out that she was panicking and he was having a grand old time on school grounds. She walked up and let her footsteps be clearly heard so no one was startled. Maybe he was new to this whole thing.
Those instincts seemed harder to kill than anything else - the impulse to teach even if it wasn't specifically asked for.
"Hello."
One of her own...but no one she knew. How could one group be so widely dispersed? Why did the knights never meet and congregate? Talk...Maybe she needed to put together a knight convention.Yeah, that's what she would do someday. If just to meet everyone. Though she hoped if they all gathered in one place they would see how many they were and realize how little they stood together. Maybe it was corny but she wanted them all to be like family. That was the dream, anyway.
Back to the Page, though.
"I'm Shalott."

Kailash's head reclined, resting it against the back of bench as he let out a large puff of smoke. He simply listened as her footsteps grew closer, having gotten a little bored of trying to watch for her; it wasn't that long of a wait but his attention span wasn't really that into it. Besides, she wasn't picking up to be a threat unless there was something new to learn about these power signatures; like masking them or fooling people.
When she greeted him, there was honestly a moment of surprise when he heard her voice. Firstly, being a female and well there was an obvious maturity in her voice. Not like all the teenagers he usually ran into in this new job. Kailash pulled his head back up and scooted his body into a more proper sitting position against he bench. His yellow eyes stared up at her - having to momentarily tell himself that that was not a clear shirt but a lightly colored one, it was hard to tell in this lighting but that would be a really awkward costume - and that well, yeah. She was older than a teenager. And a Knight or a Page.. or whatever like himself.
"Uh, hi." He replied as his gaze narrowed, squinting and searching for a symbol on her persons, managing to spot two near her collar bone - he was NOT staring at her chest.. no. Earth. Or Ritz crackers. Flowers? No. Earth. She had flowers, a lot of flowers.
The male Page tapped his cigarette, letting the ashes flutter to the ground. "Kailash," he added finally with a nod of his head. "Nice to meet you." That was mostly out of courtesy, he rarely meant it.

"You shouldn't smoke. It's bad for you."
It was all common knowledge by now - who didn't know smoking was terrible for them? The thought bore repeating, however, so she'd be the voice of reason. Mothering tendencies were hard to break and she really never managed to. She usually didn't try.
There was an awkward moment when she saw him looking at her and thought maybe he was staring at her tits. Her eyes narrowed and a sweep of self conscious went through her as she wondered before she realized he was looking for her planet. Oh, ok, that was fine. She shrugged and sat down.
"Likewise, I'm sure." she responded though he didn't seem very pleased. "Taking a break?"
She seated herself on the bench having sat on it a hundred times out of costume. Probably more given how often she was here and how long she'd been teaching. This place was etched indelibly into her life. She breathed in a deep breath, smiling as she did at the memories. They were mostly all pleasant ones.

Really? Those were the first words out of her mouth? Kailash couldn't help but keep his eyes narrowed, from trying to locate a symbol and now just out of annoyance. As usual, whenever he had to listen to that drab statement, he didn't dignify it with a response but an action. He took a deliberately longer drag than usual from the filter and let out in a nice steady stream of smoke - he at least didn't blow it in her face, something he used to do to people.
This Shalott just gained herself a negative.
When the darker green haired woman sat herself down, Kailash scooted a little away from her and rested an elbow on the bench's arm to prop up his chin against the palm of his free hand. "Always," he replied to her with a soft little smile. "And yourself? Seem to be the type to take this seriously and all." Unlike himself, though he was at least making an effort.. which he found to be something in itself.

Shalott wasn't aware of her foible but she did know smokers generally didn't like non smokers to tell them to quit. She couldn't help the impulse; it wasn't in her nature to. From her seat she watched his response and sighed softly. By the time he missed his lungs it would probably be too late.
She did grin at his second response, though.
"You probably have the right idea. I was just thinking to myself that I needed some time off from this gig."
He wasn't wrong about his assumption but somehow less seriously than she used to. Or, her focus had changed. She still believed in the cause and still wanted to dedicate herself to it but circumstances had changed as they tended to do.
"I do take it seriously but everyone needs time off now and again. I know I sure as hell do. All work and no play and all that."

"All work..." Kailash couldn't help but chuckle at the notion. It wasn't like it was foreign to him, he once upon a time was ready to live up to the saying at one point or another. And his father was probably a prime example of the idiom. "Could always hang up... whatever it is you use," he glanced at her, unsure of it himself. His own whatever was held neatly in the little pouch on his thigh, and really didn't constitute as anything Kailash would deem a weapon. Were they her massive amounts of flowers? "put it aside for a while. Plenty of senshi in the sea to take care of things, if that meeting was any indication of our numbers." "Though, not the most organized bunch," the Page sighed, exhaling a small puff of smoke.

"You're probably right about that. Plenty of others to take up the mantle."
She sat down on the bench next to him and smiled. She knew quite a few of those senshi and other knights and even some senshi on the wrong side. Corrupted, or something different than what she was used to. Maybe they started off that way. She still wasn't sure about that and she'd been doing this for over a year now. All of the factions were still somewhat of a mystery to her, even her own. She'd seen her wonder on her honeymoon but not all of it really sank in.
"The garland. Kind of cumbersome, I know."
It certainly was impressively girly for a weapon. It didn't do any damage in the traditional sense. Even her powers didn't seem reflective of anyone that did any kind of battle. She held people in place which didn't seem very sporting but it had come in handy on occasion.
"We should get organized, you know. The right hand isn't talking to the left and it's not good."

So it was the crazy mass of flowers. Kailash shot her a lopsided grin, "not sure who got the short end of the stick here, you or me. You get ... flowers and I get a dinky little pipe. Such amazing weapons for what the call us, huh?" Knights that he knew had like swords and s**t. Not strings of posies and peace pipes - now he wondered what Nysa was stuck with. And senshi got magic? Lame. The Page let out another drag along with an annoyed sigh. "Organization seems like a dream considering them. Maybe too many cooks in the kitchen or something or like no person really to take charge." Such a weird bunch that lot were. Though, he was one to talk perhaps given his stance in all of this and who he was talking to. And from what he knew, most of those powered individuals were teenagers. "It's not good, and kind of makes me want to avoid them..." Well, that wasn't the only reason, he just liked to avoid.

"Yeah. I always thought knights were in the thick of things with impressive swords and armor. I guess that's not the case."
She'd been more than a little disappointed by that as well but the longer she had her garland the more it grew on her, minus the pun of course. It certainly did seem to be the short end of the stick so far as she was concerned because knights were tasked with helping the helpless, civilians, and didn't have much to do it with. The corsage she had before this had been laughable as a weapon.
"The important thing is that we're helping people, right?"
Well, not tonight but generally. She brushed some of the tendrils of smoke away from herself with a flick of her wrist. She wanted to help with the organization, though. She felt it was her job and, more than that, her budding calling.
"Avoidance certainly won't solve anything."

"You've got a little bit of armor at least." He noted with a shrug. "This could be like a video game though, you start out with s**t and then gradually have to just keep going until you find a more reasonable weapon and gear to ...." He paused for a moment and considered her question. "yeah, to help people." Yeah, it was a really tacked on - he had done none of that so far. But it wasn't like 'to kick bad guys' asses' was something that he did either. Both subjects were going against his status quo, really this whole job was and it sucked. It was at least leading him into those answers that sat in the back of his mind every since he stumbled into this as a helpless civilian - easier to talk to these people it seemed. But, that's the only perk he found. Not to mention space. "Fine," Kailash sighed, "how about we just avoid some of them then. We'll find the least annoying ones and deal with them..."

Who was she to talk about avoidance, anyhow? She was the one avoiding any fight whatsoever with the Negaverse because she couldn't handle it. Those people had lives beyond this wretched war. The Squire sighed and let her garland sag, never quite sure what to do with it while it wasn't in use. It was a rather cumbersome burden to have.
"You're probably right. I didn't have this armor when I started and I know Camelot's grown with each promotion he's gotten. His armor has."
And now her husband was every bit a knight except the lack of a sword. Shalott wasn't having fun and this night off wasn't doing anyone much good. Still, she was talking to someone and met a fellow page. She didn't think she was very good company, though, and wanted a glass of wine.
"I'm going to go home and try to...I don't know. Try to rest I think. If you ever need me I'm pretty easy to find by Crystal or the library."
Shalott wanted to make herself available to everyone who might need some guidance and though he didn't seem enthusiastic about his calling she hoped maybe he'd come to her for help someday.

Wait, really? Kailash glanced at the green haired woman with a quizzical look on his face. There was someone named Camelot? Like the mythical place from Arthurian legends? Okay, one thing about Knights was beginning to be cleared up; origin of names. Senshi were space objects, Agents seemed to be minerals and somesuch and now... they were places. "Sounds like a plan," he told her, knowing the previous subjects were now going to be dropped due to her departure. "And thanks, I'll keep that in mind." The younger Page called out to her. "I'm usually on park benches." Not like he was much open to guidance but hey, he was open if people just wanted to blow off some steam or something, have a break... do nothing. He wasn't sure, himself, if he would ever see her out. But, never say never.
